Our heat went out a few weeks ago & we called for service. The first time a tech came out, we were told we had a Freon leak but would have to come back the next day to tell us where the leak was, that trip was $225. The next days a different tech came and said he found the leak but someone else would have to come repair it & that second trip was $450. The next trip, trip 3, when someone was sent out to repair, we were charged $2700. We are senior citizens. a total of almost $3400. We spoke to someone in Atl that's in this business & were told we were way over charged & the integrity of this company is highly questionable. read more

I purchased a new HVAC system for our home back in 2019. While their quote wasn't the lowest, what they offered compared to their competitors was clearly superior and the price difference wasn't even substantial. It was well worth the extra cost. Since the installation, I've only had one issue (which was not their fault), and it was fully covered under the manufacturer's warranty with no out-of-pocket expenses. After the first year, I signed up for their bi-annual maintenance plan, and I have zero complaints. In fact, I'd say I'm very pleased with their service. Every technician who's visited over the years has been professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. After each inspection, they always send a detailed report via email, complete with photos of each task performed. At the end of every visit, the technician always takes time to say goodbye and they're always pleasant and respectful, which feels rare these days! They're consistently on time, and the friendly lady in the office always calls the day before to confirm the appointment. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! read more

I had purchased a new heating and air conditioning system from old coast heating and air conditioning company and it stopped working. The technician told me the fan and motor were out of balance and a new fan and motor needed replacement. The part was not in stock and had to wait 5 days for the part to come in. The process took an hour and a half to replace. The pars were covered under warranty, so no charge for parts. I was presented with a bill for labor for over $1,100. read more

While Old Coast was responsive, their rates for even simple services are outrageous - $320 per hour! To replace a control wire between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit they charged $750! And in the end the problem recurred as they failed to find the location of a short circuit. The wire they installed was left hanging in the garage until I supplied them with cable staples and insisted they fasten it to the wall properly. Another company fixed the short and charged $85. I do not recommend them on the basis of poor quality work, and very high prices. read more

Had a fan go bad on one of my heat pumps. I called them and they were willing to come out on a weekend. I didn't need the emergency call and they were out that Monday to assess the problem. With summer in GA they got a bit overwhelmed but two days later they came and repaired the fan at 9pm and would have worked till 11pm if they had too. Just updating my previous review. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT do business with this company. After my first installed AC unit fell out of my wall due to an incorrect install, having the tech who "fixed" the fallen unit screw the unit through the wall to where the points of the screws were sticking out of the wall into my kitchen, 3 more visits to find out why the fallen unit was leaking water and having a conversation with the general manager 2 months later about the whole ordeal to find out he wasn't even aware of the incident, a new replacement unit was installed at the cost of Old Coast with a 4 year service contract and labor contract. I call today to find out that Old Coast is not honoring said agreement. read more

This review is about Old Coast HVAC in Savannah, GA not San Francisco. I called Old Coast HVAC about a thermostat that was not working properly and the temps were going to be freezing the next few days. When I called they said that they could send a tech out that day and the service charge would be $135 and I agreed to that. When the tech was here and checking on the HVAC and thermostat I asked about thermostat prices he said they have one that they carry and recommend and he said was $125 and I don't remember the exact amount of labor but he said 100 something. After his diagnosis of the HVAC and thermostat, he determined I needed a new stat. I said what will the actual total cost be and he stepped outside to call his office and when he came back into my house he told me the cost would be $605 and I had already paid the service fee. I was blown away at the cost of installing an inexpensive stat and a 10-15 min installation, but I had to agree because it was going down to 32 degrees that night and I had nowhere to go. Also, I was afraid to question the tech because I was afraid he'd leave. The next day I called their office and was given one excuse after another of why it cost 605 for a stat that retails for 124-125 was so high. I did not agree to a warranty and I was not told it was an emergency call because it was during their regular business hours. I sincerely feel that they took advantage of the situation and the fact I'm a senior citizen. I asked two friends out-of-state that have worked as contractors and both said wow, bummer, outrageous. There are plenty of these companies in Savannah so do your homework and please don't get taken advantage of as I did. I did call them about this and was supposed to get a call back from the manager, but of course, I didn't get a callback. Update received a call back after I posted this review from a manager and he did apologize and explained that the office gave the tech the wrong amount. The charge was $375, but IMO still a bit high according to my research and talking with contractors. However, a far cry from $605 and I did get an apology plus the manager was very nice and polite. read more

About a month ago Kevin Boggs from Old Coast visited my house at the Landings perform maintenance on 6 units. He was very considerate of my house wearing booties while in the house but removing them if he went outside. He was very knowledgeable, well organized and methodical in his maintenance checks and procedures. He did his work much quicker and more thoroughly than other service teams of 2 or more people. These guys are fantastic! I put a call in to the office during a very busy time for them (and substantially warm for us since our HVAC system was pitching fits and kept freezing) and they promptly sent out a service tech. Unfortunately our system needed to be replaced so we had to wait about a week for it. In the meantime, they gave us a window unit to use. Jeff went over the options with us and gave us every available discount...even from coupons we didnt know about. Over the week, they were prompt to return our calls and answer questions. They were just here today to remove the old system and install the new one and he didnt leave before everything was running as it should. Price was a little higher than the other two quotes, but I was mentally prepared for that. I wanted a Trane unit. Otherwise, they were thorough and installation was quick. Only other complaint was that the installation was a little messy with coolant sprayed on the side of the house. My AC shut down on Monday and Tuesday morning Old Coast sent out a technician. Gary found the issue with a condensate drain line switch and made a quick clean out on the drain line allowing the switch to bring power back on the control interface. During the services call I was able to get a REME HALO air purification system installed in my duct work. These units help eliminate mold , bacteria ;and viruses in the AC system. I had same day service after a compressor fan motor began to fail. Ryan returned to the shop to retrieve the part, but upon installation was not pleased with the fit of the " universal" replacement. An order was made for a new fan, which was installed the next day. I was totally pleased with the service and attention to detail and am a dedicated customer now. This dedicated customer recently had old ductwork replaced and new heat pump installed. I was 100% satisfied with the professionalism and responsiveness of the crew and their support team. When our air conditioner/heat pump was malfunctioning we set up an appointment with Old Coast for investigation and repair. They were easy to work with and up front and honest about pricing. A lizard died on one of our capacitors and it required replacement. We received up front estimates on the diagnostic fee as well as parts and labor for the repair, which was completed the same day. My wife and I had the good fortune to contact Old Coast (along with five other firms) to replace our nearly fifteen year old heat pump and air handler. We live near the marshes so have a great deal of salt water exposure to our heat pump. Kenny Down, from Old Coast, visited with us one day and spent at least an hour assessing our situation looking at the outdoor and indoor equipment, taking pictures, and inspecting the duct work. We then listened carefully as Kenny went over all the features of good, better, and best equipment which would meet our needs. He also gave us numerous customers to call in order to determine their satisfaction with Old Coast. After calling five customers I'd heard all I needed to about the company. After reading all the positive reviews, Old Coast was the company I chose to call when our a/c went out and the inside temp of our house was 88 degrees! Summers in Savannah are no joke and I knew I needed this fixed ASAP! I called first thing in the morning and was told that someone would be at my house between 2 and 6 pm. I was pleasantly surprised that they showed up right after 2 pm and had my a/c working again before 3 pm and for much less than expected. Ryan is great, very knowledgeable and honest. Back in 2013 we needed our thermostat replaced and sadly we didn't go through Old Coast. When the other company came in we had asked them about the lack of air flow through two of the vents and they just shrugged us off saying air was coming through. Well...2014 rolled around and I decided enough was enough and called Old Coast. They came in took one look at our duct system and saw the problem - a duct was unhooked and another had a gap in it. Soooo...I have to wonder how much money we wasted the previous year because the other company didn't care to look at the problem. But Old Coast was prompt (early actually), thorough and you could just tell from the way they treated us that they don't take our business for granted. Another bonus? Old Coast replaced my heat pump system last week and I had an awesome experience. What started out as a stressful situation because it was 98 degrees out and an expensive proposition ended up going super smooth and I am loving going home now to my enjoy my new AC. The problem with my system had already been diagnosed when I called Old Coast and three competitors for quotes so I knew going in that I wanted to buy a new system. Chris was patient and did a great job of educating me on all the new energy efficiency options available and explained everything from multi-stage systems to variable speed blowers. None of the other companies bothered with this. Old Coast is one of the authorized contractors listed on Georgia Power's website for the Whole Home Energy Improvement Program and while the upfront costs with Old Coast were in the middle range of my quotes, they made some efficiency improvements that were included in my quote and along with the HE system and the independent energy audit that Old Coast paid for I qualified for a $2200 Georgia Power rebate! Factoring this in, Old Coast ended up being far less expensive than all my comparable quotes for the same SEER system from their competitors. The customer service was top notch. They set up a portable AC unit to tide me over in the 98 degree heat while I waited the few days for my unit to be installed and their follow up has been great. First off, let me say that we have had almost a dozen contractors come out and attempt to solve the issues with our home. We have had 2 systems installed in our home previously by well established big name contractors (unfortunately, both were less than impressive). Then, based on a referral from a close friend, we found Old Coast. To say we were impressed with not only their expert knowledge but also their extremely prompt and courteous response would be putting it lightly. Simply put, they are awesome! Not only did they solve all of our issues, but also they offered a solution that completely changed the environment in our house by carefully diagnosing the air quality of our home. First they got our original old defunct air unit back to working condition to make sure we were comfortable while we made our decision. Then after considering all of our options, we decided on our new Lennox ultimate comfort system that we absolutely love (it's amazing in every way). We have now had the system for several months and our bill has gone down $100 compared to our bill last year on the same month. Also with our new custom ductwork and air filtration system, we have seen an improvement well beyond expectation, -in fact- all of my allergies are no longer an issue (we have multiple pets and we see way less dust). A week after installation Zach came out to check on everything and made sure all of our rooms were equally comfortable AND was even able to upload our family picture onto our new icomfort thermostat.
