While initially a good experience things derailed quickly. After pointing out some damage done to my driveway and sheetrock after our ductwork was replaced, the company's employees got very defensive very quickly. I was not pointing fingers, but simply trying to determine what contractors were at fault. Gochnauer's employee Brian S. sent me the following e-mail verbatim: "I cannot believe the gall you have to even think this, let alone say this, Judd. We showed you proof the driveway was not us. And I paid for the ceiling we also did not do with proof. I let that ceiling go because it was already done. I am paying for that, personally, not the company or my guys because they didn't do it. Do not email me again." Really? This is how they treat their customers who just gave them two jobs and paid close to $10K. I will not do business again with such a thoughtless company nor should you. I called to speak to the owner today but I got a call back from the GM who never once provided an apology. Bush league company! Maybe I will dispute the last job they did since now I was told to not e-mail them again. Here is another quote from Brian S. regarding the sheetrock: "THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. IF YOU BELIEVE THE SHEETROCK WAS TRULY DAMAGED ON SATURDAY, SOUNDS LIKE WE DID IT SINCE WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE THERE THAT DAY. I CAN HAVE SOMEONE TAKE CARE OF THE SHEETROCK IF YOU AGREE." - So he owns up to doing it in this quote but then says he didn't do it later. As for the driveway, it was recently poured and damaged during the install. It was done by either the HVAC company, spray foam company or ductwork install crew. Nobody will own up to it. Contractors around Bluffton have a bad reputation for a reason. Be careful who you choose. read more

He was dedicated to task wasting no time evaluating all aspects of my system. He asked appropriate questions and was able to describe what he had done without being condescending. They were recommended by my ex wife who has very high expectations so I called them. Theae guys were great. I was having company coming so I had an A/C emergency. Their price to come out was better than most and they fixed my A/C while being honest and not trying to take advantage. I highly commend them. Their total price was fair. read more

Simply put- Gochnauer is great. We have had two systems installed by them on two different properties. Both were done reasonably and professionally. This past Saturday night we had an issue at a rental house with no HVAC. I left a message for Gochnauer at midnight on a Saturday. Sunday morning I had a return call by 8:15am and their technician had the problem fixed by 10am. I can't ask for a quicker response than that, let alone on a Sunday. If you are considering Gochnauer for an install or service, don't hesitate to use them. read more

Not honest people. After using them for several years for maintenance service on several properties, they billed me for services that were never performed. After extensive arguing on the phone and producing detailed billing history, they continue to argue and won't refund overcharges. Would never use these guys. Do NOT use Gochnauer Heating and Air for your HVAC needs. They manufacture information, they do not know when and what they install, and then do not honor what they tell you. Let me explain: Gochnauer installed 3 systems in my new home in 2008 and I had over 10 repairs in the first 7 years! In fact, a complete failure in 2014! I was debating whether to once again repair the system or replace it. Gochnauer could do either, but offered a 10 year warranty on the equipment if i replaced it. I decided it would be less frustrating if I went ahead with replacing the system. I paid over $6,000 for this system replacement by Gochnauer in 2014 and was told that it would have a 10 year parts and labor warranty. The invoice stated a "10 year warranty on equipment." This line on the invoice did not specify a particular piece of equipment or did not exclude any equipment. This new system failed in less than two years. I called Gochnauer to fix this failure and the technician stated that it was a Freon leak and was NOT covered by the warranty. One would think, since Gochnauer installed it, they would want to know why a system they installed was failing and offer to find out the problem as a courtesy ... NO. The tech recharged the system and I got an invoice. The System failed again last spring due to low Freon and again I called Gochnauer to repair and I was transferred to the Service manager who told me the system was not under warranty and they would not repair the system and he HUNG up on me. Since I had to get the system fixed, and Gochnauer wouldn't talk to me, I called another HVAC Co. and they found the same low Freon problem. They did a leak test and in about 15 minutes found the leak in the evaporator at the expansion value of the system Gochnauer replaced and warranted in 2014. In fact I was standing there when the Tech found the problem and showed me that an O ring was not installed at time of installation. (a 50 cent part) This lack of installing the O ring is NOT covered by warranty. Really?? Gochnauer stated "The part of your system that you have a failure in is the special Unico high velocity, modular air handlers that was installed in 2007/2008 and does not offer a manufacturer's labor warranty; they come with a standard one year part warranty only." Gochnauer states the date incorrectly, the 2007/2008 that they reference was in fact the part that failed from the 2014 installation. Gochnauer replaced the evaporator part of this Unico system in 2014 without installing the O ring. If this is not covered by the warranty, than Gochnauer should have installed the 0 ring that was not installed at time of the 2014 installation as a good faith gesture. Clearly Gochnauer is more interested in making money than providing good customer service. I sent two letters to Gochnauer asking to honor the warranty and I got NO response either time. Gochnauer Mechanical is an unethical company that overcharges for their services and insists on being paid on location - right away by cash or check! Their services may or may not even solve the issue! Recently had to call Gochnauer for service. Wanted to share with you my experience. My pool company identified a problem with controller on water heater for the pool. It was a known issue. Gochnauer techs came and charged me $90 fee force re- identifying the issue. The controller plus one hour of labor were quoted at $799 - even the techs were embarrassed saying they do not set the price. It was outrageous! They said the controller would fix the issue. Another tech from Gochnauer - Mr. Dana Williams came to install the part. He came 2 hours later past the appointment time and was rude. My wife and had dinner plans and were leaving the house. I asked Mr. Dana it he would complete the service - he was calling for support, obviously not knowing what was going on and asking others for help. He said he might, but I need to pay him before we would leave for dinner. I said the job is not done and I would mail the check when we would return and I see the job is done. He blocked my car with his truck and drove toward me in a threatening manner as about to run me over. I was asking him about his aggressive behavior and he he said he would de-install the part which was in the middle of being installed if I do not give him cash or check right away and proceeded de-installing it. I was forced to pay for the services that were not done and after he installed the part he informed me via email the following day that I had to call my pool company for additional services.
