This is one of the best breakfast stops I have had in recent memory. Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was prepared perfectly - delicious - and the portions are HUGE. Cute homey restaurant in Umatilla. Server was Marina and she was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the pork and beef with potato salad and macaroni & cheese The sides were great and the garlic toast was amazing. My boyfriend had the ribs and chicken and those were the best meats of the 4. Fall off the bone and so tasty. The pork was dry but the beef was good. Prices are super reasonable. Sweet tea was good. Parking lot has a bit of loose gravel so beware if you're on a motorcycle. read more

Small quaint place. Big menu for a small restaurant. Only a few brisket items. We had a brisket melt and a Turkey melt. It was supposed to be in rye but it wasn't. Both tasted good. BBQ sauce on the table didn't have much flavor. My fries were warm but the other person in my party stayed fries were cold. Good desert menu. We had peach cobbler. It was good. Server wandered around the restaurant and was kind of hard to get to come by our table. Food wasn't bad. There is room for improvement. read more

Food is GREAT!! Service is Wonderful!! Prices are fair!! What else is there to say!?

I use to be a huge fan, but the customer service is now unacceptable. After the ownership change, the waitress Marina has become dishonest and snarky. The previous time I went, I attempted to order the daily special on the board which was a sandwich and fries for $8.99. Marina told me she'd be back to take the order. She proceeded to go over wipe the for special off the board! She advised that it ended 5pm; the end time has not been listed on the board. She then proceeded to tell me I could only have it at regular price, about $2 more. I asked her to honor the price because I had mentioned it before it was wiped from existence on the board, and the board did not say the time end. She refused. I complained to the owner, a lady, who was in the kitchen. Marina came into the kitchen, interrupted and supported not taking giving me the deal. We left as they would not honor the price. Today, I decided that since I had supported them for so many years, including through the French fry frier breakdown, that we'd try it again. Marina refused to greet us. I went over to the drink area where are was standing and asked her to wipe down or clear one of the three unoccupied tables. One table had dishes on it; one table had stuff spilled on it. The other table was piled with dirty dish rags and other restaurant stuff. She said she'd be there in a minute. After several minutes, I sat at the table with the spill because due to my disability I can't stand for long periods. Another lady came out of the back, and I asked her wipe it down. She went to Marina and advised her we needed it wiped down. Still, no Marina to wipe the table, offer water or menus. She continued to fiddle around at the drink bar and back counter without approaching any other tables. Finally, she came over and snarkily said to me I was impatient and she had to wait on others (which she hadn't done while I was there). We left. We will not be back specifically because she is rude and dishonest. read more

I experienced the best customer service ever at the Old Crow BBQ restaurant. From the moment that I arrived I felt like I was visiting a friends kitchen. The entire staff is wonderful. Don't let the fact that it's a hole in the wall out in the middle of nowhere chase you off. I came for the Friday night steak special. You get a charcoal grilled NY strip, baked or sweet potato and a salad for $18.99. The steak was tender, juicy and flavorful. It's a great deal. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid when I would go and stay with my Grandma in Altoona. I had my first peach cobbler here and I've loved that dessert ever since. Now in my adulthood, whenever I'm in the area I have to stop by! They arguably have the best BBQ from here to Orlando. Their ribs are my personal favorite and I like to get the rib family meal for $28 that comes with a full slab, two sides, and toast. It's seriously such a good deal and we always can make 2-3 meals out of it! Their sides are so good too. My favorites are their baked beans, green beans, and mac n cheese. They also have three types of barbeque sauce available: sweet, spicy, and spicy mustard (my favorite!). For dessert 100% you have to try the red velvet cake! All desserts are made in house and big enough to share. Wash it all down with a sweet tea and I guarantee you'll be leaving happy. They have a separate to-go entrance where you can call in orders or order at the window. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating outback. Walk in, pick a table, order with your waitress, and then pay at the window before you leave. It's definitely a family friendly place but I don't know if they could accommodate too large of a table inside. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Came through here just out of pure convenience as it was close by. I got the Brisket Sandwich with a side of macaroni salad and bbq beans with the hot mustard bbq sauce for dipping. Prices were pretty good; unfortunately, the quality not so much. I consider a 3 star to be average at best and this place just didn't quite earn it. The beans were straight from a can, the macaroni salad was bland. The hot mustard bbq sauce might as well had been honey mustard. The sweet tea tasted like instant tea and not brewed fresh. The brisket was dry and not fatty as I like it (probably why it was dry). Also the portions were pretty small; of which, I'm sure so why prices are lower. The sauces come in a container the size of a creamer container you see at the Waffle House. Oh and after I had paid for my meal I was asked to come back up and pay for my tea because she forgot to ring it up, not a big deal cause I'll pay for what I ordered, just inconvenient. Normally places like this are very good - kind of a hole in the wall, small restaurant... nothing fancy/special. Server was very nice and not too crowded for a Saturday night. Not from the area either... found this place bc it was close to where we were. Ordered the Beef and Pork Dinner Plate with green beans and mac & cheese. First, the meat was cold... almost ice cold. Looked and tasted like it had been made days earlier and sat out - dry, flavorless. Green beans tasted worse than straight out of a can (did not know that was possible) and the mac & cheese was bland... watery tasting (again, odd taste/texture). Wife had the Beef (brisket) Dinner Plate. Same thing - cold, flavorless. Both honestly tasted like they had been sitting out on the counter all day. Our son had the 1/2 slab rib plate... never in my life of eating bqq at really good places all over the country and really bad ones have I ever seen ribs as disgusting looking as these. We did watch multiple items coming in and out of the microwave and while hot, these tasted like they were warmed in the microwave. So much fat/gristle and if you could get to the meat it was chewy and tough. Very, very bad. We reluctantly told the waitress and she acted as if she wasn't surprised at all. The whole interaction was weird. Then she brought the check and said she didn't charge us for the 2 dinner plates and just made up something for the few bites of ribs my son ate. Didn't much care at that point, paid the bill and left. I do not understand the good reviews... there's not much in the area so I guess there's not much for people to expect better. Not really sure. We actually found this place by mistake. The other BBQ place that we frequent looks to be for sale and this was the next one on my Yelp list. Unfortunately it is a bit out of the way so I'm not sure when we will be back but it was still pretty good BBQ. We ordered a pound of the smoked brisket, turkey, and pork. We also had a side of fries and mac n' chz. Let me start by saying that the turkey was absolutely perfect! It was tender and had such a good smokey flavor. The brisket was also pretty tasty and tender. Barbecued Pork is typically my go to but their pork was much fattier than I am used to so I may just stick with the Turkey on future visits. The fries were mediocre and the mac n' chz was just "ok." I'm sure we will order from them again if we find ourselves in the area but will likely try some different sides. Overall it was a good experience and I specifically appreciated that they loaded us up with 3 different types of BBQ. They had mild, medium, and hot. All three were great and pretty mild on the heat scale. If you find yourself out here in the boondocks, try the Turkey. It was the best I've had. read more

This is a local mom and pop place. Very no frills which is why prices are reasonable with large portions but very poor quality. The wife ordered the beef brisket which was nothing more than an overcooked roast beef thinly sliced on a bun that then dunked in flavorless au jus turning it into a soggy mess. I ordered the pork ribs which I'm sure has never seen a grill! If I had to guess they were probably boiled and soaked in liquid smoke! Absolutely terrible.
