This place has it all great food, great customer service and great prices. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted with Smiles and seated right away. I love how the place is decorated with a lot of John Wayne and Cowboys from movies. Our server came over right away and took our drink order and gave us a few minutes and then took our food order. The food came out in a timely a was very good! My husband had the 3 meat combo chicken the famous ribs a sliced pork with 2 sides. I had the baby backs with wings an 2 sides. The food was so good. Both ribs were fall off the bone an melt in your mouth. My jumbo wings with honey, garlic barbecue were amazing. And when they say jumbo, they're not kidding. About a week ago I submitted to his suggestion and I was truly dissatisfied with texture of the ribs. They were stringy, chewy and genetically modified to say the least. Well after 53 check-ins over 10 years at the time of this review I feel it's only fair to this business and the wonderful staff here to give them credit for all they do. This place is definitely a landmark restaurant in the City of Deland and it's been one of my favorite lunch spots. The food here is consistently good and of high quality, from the fresh salad bar to the sides and entrée's I assure you you'll never leave here hungry. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are more than fair which makes Brian's an exceptional value, it's no wonder during lunch service it's filled with area workers and local business people and you'll alway see a fair amount of the elderly folks which shows the continued contribution this restaurant brings to the local economy. All the servers here are wonderful and friendly people and it's seems everyone has their favorite so it's very common for customers to request a certain section in the dining area to ensure they get their preferred server. I like the back-wall where the seating is a combination of booths and tables and belongs to Tammy who is always on top of her game, she always remembers our drink preference and is very attentive I'm probably a little bias and a lot spoiled but she's absolutely the best. My favorites here - "The Boss" BBQ Steak Sandwich, "The Alamo" brisket and sausage stacked high on a bun or garlic roll, it's no longer on the menu but always available so if you have a newer server they may give you a strange look but it will be delivered. I usually always get the salad bar even if that requires a small charge to use as a side and my drink is always in a "to go" cup, its extra large and is alway filled to the brim before you walk out the door. Ordered thanksgiving meal for 4/6 People. Spent 190.00. The best portion of the meal was the ham and mashed potatoes. The turkey was tasteless, the green beans were horrible, the rolls tasted like they've been just defrosted and the yam casserole was just okay. I didn't have any but i understand the macaroni salad was pretty good. We ordered a carrot cake which they charge $44 for it. My out of town kids love the salad bar so its a must do when they are in town. It's pretty awesome and they keep it full and neat. The meat tends to be dried out but if you ask they will try to get some meat juice to help. Lima beans were a hit but green beans were awful. Someone should convince them to throw some meat scraps in and simmer it for a while. read more

I met my mom and some friends at Brian's for lunch back in mid-January 2022. We enjoyed the Western vibe, beautiful wooden furnishings/interior, and embellishments of patriotism throughout. Upon entering, one of the first things I noticed was the large salad bar, the smell of smoked meat, and sweet BBQ, Yum! We were seated promptly, our server Tammy, was phenomenal with refilling drinks and providing additional items as needed. Our group hadn't seen each other for some time and Tammy was a gem at making us feel right at home; never rushing us. I ordered the 6-Bone Rib Platter ($16.99), which comes with Texas Toast and two sides; I chose Coleslaw and steak fries. The slaw was creamy and on the sweet side, but I was a fan. The Fries were fat, freshly fried, and crispy; exactly what I was craving. The ribs were tender but not mushy, nicely smoked with a flavorful dry rub, and there was a lot of meat on the bone. Brian's has several sauces to choose from Carolina Gold Mustard BBQ, Flaming Hot BBQ, Sweet Grilling BBQ, and their Award-Winning Sauce. I am more of a Kansas City BBQ guy; however, mixing the Sweet Grilling and Flaming Hot sauces worked out perfectly. My mom and one of her friends ordered the Lunch Chicken Plate for $9.99 and added the Salad bar for a few dollars more, but I think the salad bar is a bit overkill because they both ended up boxing their lunch entrée Togo after filling up at the salad bar. If you are going to get the salad bar, go all in, because that is all you will need. I am surprised I have not heard of Brian's Bar-B-Q sooner. I'm in Deland often with my wife for events throughout the year, so now that I know, I will have to introduce her. My husband has a weakness for barbecue so we had to try out one of the local spots near our new home. Brian's is a stand alone restaurant (and catering business) located in DeLand, Florida. It's a pretty big establishment with the interior and decor that is typical of a barbecue joint. The meats are definitely the star of the show here. My husband couldn't decide which meats to get, so he chose the Combination Platter, while I chose the all-you-can-eat chicken (both of our selections were the Sunday special deals). I also opted for the salad bar, since salad bars are hard to find these days. My husband and I both loved the meats - juicy and full of flavor. However, the sides were less than stellar. My green beans tasted like green beans swimming in water, the macaroni and cheese tasted old with minimal flavor as did the corn. The steak fries weren't much better and tasted stale (ketchup helped a little bit, but not much). I love garlic bread but not this garlic bread - very plain and tough to chew. The service was about average, but we weren't checked on that much and ran out of beverages. So, we would come back for the meats but not much else. read more

After trying several of the BBQ spots around Deltona/Orange City/Deland I finally found one that's a destination rather than "I guess were near X so we can go there" We went the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and after our experience I was sad I had already planned to cook the next day because I bet their thanksgiving dinner special was fire. First thing that brought me joy from walking in was the salad bar. Full of fresh ingredients and prepared salads (potato salad, macaroni salad, chicken salad, etc) sling with some fruit and pudding. It's the classic, iconic salad bar I fell in love with in the 90s. I got the sampler so I could try a bit of everything. Very good smoke and rub on the meats to the point where you really didn't want to cover it with sauce (though their sauce IS good, not a bottle of sugar like some places). The ribs were a tiny bit tough but I got the small end ribs so that's just luck on my side. The chicken was tender and juicy and the smoked sirloin is more like a delicious sliced roast beef that I definitely need on a sandwich now. My dad got the John Wayne burger which was surprisingly cooked medium rare as he requested (too many places don't dare get even a tiny bit of pink in the middle). It had good flavor and was one of the best burgers he's had in the area. Sides were a mixed bag. The coleslaw was sweet but not pure sugar and dressed with just the right amount of dressing. The baked beans were thick, rich, and molassey exactly as I love them (especially eaten on top of the Texas toast!). The mixed greens had zero flavor and the same with the green beans. There was meat in with the beans but I don't know where it's flavor went. The cheddar bacon grits are exactly what they sound like, I'm not a grits fan but I figured I'd try and they are good. The service was fantastic and the prices are very fair for the portions (we definitely had leftovers!). There's a great assortment of other items on the menu that I'm excited to go back and try, especially knowing they have Brunswick stew some days (I'm a sucker for that stew when done right). read more

It looked like they Ribs were boiled the added sauce and thrown on the grill, Also had the leftover flavor, almost like the meat was going bad. Parking was ample but the place was busy so I parked in the back. The location is easy to get to and easy to get in and out, the place was very nice and super clean, atmosphere was "old Texas like" very cool. The staff was great! Super friendly very professional and helpful. The portions were very fair and they have an all you can eat salad bar... Small inside tip if you go on Monday all draft beer was 5cents... Why 3 stars well I like my BBQ a bit more spicier and this was a little bland, good flavor but a bit bland if that make sense. I would say 3.5 stars for this place... Our family of three ate at Brian's Bar-B-Q on Saturday Feb 3 at about 4pm. Two adults and one 5 year old. The restaurant was not busy. We were seated within 2 minutes. Past the salad bar on the way to our table. Nothing about it was very impressive so we gave it no further thought but I understand it's popular. To each their own. Menus were handed out with our seating. We waited about 5 to 7 minutes for our waitperson to come to the table to take a drink order. We only ordered water as that is all we drink with our meals. Or water was delivered and the wait person said she would return for our food order. Waited another 5 to 7 minutes for her to return. We ordered Ranch Hand Platter and the Baby Back & Brisket Platter. The 5 year old would eat from our plates. While waiting for our meals, the waitperson brought a side of coleslaw to my wife as that was one of the sides she ordered with her platter. Little did we know the side dish of coleslaw was going to be the only food brought to the table for the next 15 to 20 minutes. My wife was hungry so she ate it. We waited a good long time for our order to find its way to reach our table. I noticed our wait person look at me looking at her from a distance and she gave an "0h shit" look and went and got our food. When she placed the platters on the table, I asked my wife if she would like an order of coleslaw to go along with her meal. It was a hint to the waitperson to pull herself together a bring my wife the side she ordered to accompany her meal. The hint was not taken but my wife declined for anything additional. It's difficult to get moist baby backs out at restaurants as opposed to spareribs. I am a meat smoker so it's all good. Both sets of baby backs were pretty dry. Not a wholesome smoked flavor. More like char grilled. The brisket showed no reddish smoke ring and looked more grey and steam-table kept. The Texas bbq pork was mush and not like any Texas bbq pork I have ever had in Texas. The wings were ok but were not in the same league as Rachel's Wings ONCE was. The bbq sauce bottles in the metal bucket that had been placed on the table were sticky and not properly tended to since the previous seating. Several acquaintances suggested we give Brian's a try so we did after about 2 years. I do not know where novice or pro meat smokers go for good BBQ when not at home but we have found the Bearded Pig in Jacksonville to be a superior bbq restaurant and highly recommend them if you can't make it to Franklin's or Terry Blacks in Austin Texas. read more

However my wife thinks the sliced brisket is the best so I had to try it out and I was disappointed it was very dry and super chewy and that's not something I expect at a bbq place.
