Awesome spot. The interior is big with plenty of booths and long tables for seating. You order at the counter and then seat yourself and a server brings you your food. Came here on a Friday evening after the family and I were craving some good BBQ. As usual, I turned to my Yelp fam and researched the best option. Ultimately we ended up at Old Fields. The setup is quite interesting. There's a bar, and plenty of tables. You go directly to the back, order then your food is brought to you. There is a server for drinks/anything you need. On ever table is an assortment of sauces for your meats. Majority of the meats are displayed in the glass window when you order. They have tons of options for meats, as well as amazing sides. We ordered chicken, beef brisket, beef ribs and a bunch of sides. My dad who eats pork also ordered the sausage. For sides we got mashed potatoes, pickles (MUST ORDER), the kale salad, mac & cheese and cornbread. The food is brought out on trays and easy for sharing. The food came out quickly. I mainly stuck to the chicken, since I don't LOVE red meat. The chicken was nice and smoked, and super seasoned. I opted for the peach habenero sauce to accompany it. The bark had absolutely 0 bite and that's not how I like my brisket. Fried Chicken- Flavors were good however it had an old grease aftertaste that just threw everything off. Order setup is kind a strange, where you order food at the counter, which is later brought to the table, but then you have a waiter for drinks. Seems unnecessarily confusing, but whatever. Food was decent, but not special. The pulled pork was not my favorite and based on other reviews, should have gone with the brisket. Another table had some bomb looking fried chicken though, so that could be another good option. Prices arent bad, but it seems weird that such a casual place is all ala cart. Maybe include some lunch specials that include a side and corn bread? Just an idea. Mac and cheese was crazy heavy and definitely should be split, but it's good. Onion rings were solid as well. If I didn't live so far away, I would certainly be a regular. I bought a half pound of brisket and a half pound of pulled pork. Both were very good and prices were reasonable. I was expecting a place where I could sit down, order, and eat. This was more of a cafeteria. I went to the counter, where I could see all the meats and the corn bread. Everything looked delicious. Down right delish fried chicken, savory collard greens, succulent brisket and their twist of southern peach cobbler are just a few of my favs. The craft COCKTAILS menu is precise and has good options. Surprisingly has Mezcal on the menu. A good indication that their mixologist is on trend. Truly feel at home when dining as it's super causal and a great spot for date night or quality family time. When we spoke with the waitress, she tried to argue with us and told us that there was "no way it was our mess up". I guess blaming it on us?? Cute little place right next to a municipal lot. Lucky that I found a street spot in front though :) Friendly service from our waiter. EXCELLENT, juicy meats. I'm very picky about corn bread but theirs was moist in the center with honey butter on top :):):) Maybe I'm paranoid but I think the tables could be more spaced out from the booths since everyone is unmasked while seated. The booths however, have that sneeze guard plastic divider material that some of the other restaurants are putting up now. The place wasn't busy so we were able to stay away from others. The peach cobbler was served cold. Great BBQ establishment all the way out in Huntington! It's about 45 minutes for us to get here but we have friends that live 15 minutes away and raves about this place. First try was when my friend ordered take out. Everything was so good. They even threw in 2 different bottles of sauces for her because she ordered so much. Second try was when we had a group of 10 including 3 kids and arrived on New Years Day. So glad it was open. They pushed two benches together for us so we can sit together comfortably. Luckily there was extra space on the benches and we piled our jackets on top of each other. I kinda wished they had jacket hooks on the walls. This place you place your food order at the cashier and they give you a table # so you can sit down and wait for your meal. The waiter comes around and takes your drink order. It was great that we were able to pay for our own meals and have separate checks then having to split the bill according to each family. My family ordered 1/2 brisket, half a bbq chicken, corn bread, fries, onion rings, half rack of ribs (6 pieces to be exact) and a Arnold Palmer (made with unsweetened tea and lemonade). They used to have the creamed corn that was really good but unfortunately the chef said not enough people ordered it so they had to take it off the menu. On the table they had about 5 sauces, couldn't remember all the choices except peaches and habernero that had a little kick but not that spicy, sweet and sticky I think it was called, bourbon? And ketchup. Everything was so good except for the white meat of the bbq chicken which was a tad bit dry for us. My fiancé has to drown it with sauce to eat it. My toddler daughter loved the fries, chicken leg and corn bread. We ate everything and didn't leave any crumbs. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner and big groups. So good I had to come back 2 days later for seconds just to believe it was as good as I thought it was! Fantastic spot! Food was freakin amazing! Really liked how well everything was socially distanced and the overall atmosphere of the place! Highly recommend this spot even if you're not in town, totally worth the trip! COVID precautions: They have privacy glasses on top of all of the booths so each booth is well protected and they have alternately seated tables to maintain a healthy distance between them. I saw the staff really on top of cleaning the tables too so that was a nice thing to see. They're definitely doing a great job at maintaining safety, this is how restaurants should be doing it so A+ here! Food: So we ordered the Brisket, ribs (a must!), pulled pork as mains and for sides onion rings, Mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes. Ribs were fantastic! The meat was literally falling off the bone as you picked them up, I'm like drooling just talking about them, you can't go here and not try them! My husband got the pulled chicken and side of Mac and cheese, I got the pulled pork and sides of mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese, our friends got the fried chicken sandwich and the and everything was so good! Including the drinks. Service was great too! The food came out really fast. Roughly 10 minutes later? The one thing was that the drinks came out when we were almost done eating. But the drinks were still good. I got the orange south side and it was really good. My husband and friends liked their drinks too. I loved how rustic everything was also. It felt very relaxing, which I never find anywhere. Also, it was pretty busy for a Thursday night. The bathroom was great too, since it was one occupancy at a time and it was very spacious. We stopped by for lunch on Saturday, and it had a crowd but plenty of seating. Easy ordering, as you go to the back and order what you want, then take a number and find a seat just like in Texas. We ended up ordering the ribs, brisket, sausage, coleslaw, mashed sweet potato, and cornbread. After sitting, the wife also ordered a peach smash. The ribs were a good size rack, and they were meaty and juicy, and you didn't even need sauce on them. The brisket was juicy, and the sausage had a nice snap to it. The mashed sweet potatoes were good and the pecans on top were crunchy and sweet. Coleslaw was good, but the cornbread was a little dry, although it was sweet with what I thought was a honey syrup. The peach smash was also good, according to the wife. The place had a good setup and was clean. The service was also fast and good. It's rare to find a good BBQ spot on Long Island but Old Fields nails it. Recently traveled across the south of the United States (North Carolina, South Carolina) and Texas where BBQ is more of the speciality, and weirdly enough Old Fields compares and was even better than the restaurants I went to through the south. The main aspect of this place that is a little bit odd is that you place your own order in the back, find your own table, and then someone asks you if you want a drink...someone else delivers the food. Frequented Old Fields BBQ with my fiancé many times since it's opening. The food is usually good, but sometimes barely warm. We've tried almost everything on the menu. This most recent time we ordered the pulled pork. (Not the first time ordering.) Half the pork was skin and fat. (See photo) I've never had mostly skin and fat served to me at any BBQ joint I've been to. Maybe a little here and there where the meat is falling off. This was pretty gross and I double checked to make sure it wasn't just lighter meat. We were asked how the meal was and said it was ok but 1/2 the meal was skin and fat, the staff member didn't know what to do and said ok, then walked away with the plate. We thought they might come back with a manager or only charge us for half the pulled pork but they just brought us the bill full price. They decided they could do it, and let me say... it is THAT SHPOT. I've never been a fan of stovetop Mac and cheese, I'm a black girl who grew up on baked. But here it was so creamy and flavorful. I'm glad me and my hubby got our own because there would have been zero sharing. The ribs on point. Dry rub and NOT DRY MEAT yet still has the delicious char smoke thing going on with the pink ring lol. Corned beef was delicious and my husband was shocked because he knows I hate fatty meat but . My hubby kept raving about the greens. Coleslaw was dope. Not usually a fan of Carolina Vinegar BBQ but agh it was soo good. Used it on greens and some meat. All the sauces were on point. Personally not a fan of peach habanero, prefer cayenne heat with bbq but ugh so good. Honestly only a few things I would have changed. A little more salt to the dry rub on the ribs. Cook the cornbread slightly less to keep it more moist. The peach cobbler had the same flavor that my papa makes which was so crazy (strong nutmeg. Hard to find at restaurants, so so good), however I was thrown off because it was served cold!! Maybe I'm just not exposed to cold peach cobbler in my circles, but I was like oo weird. Meats are priced per pound and sides are separate so dinner at this casual bbq eatery could get pricey. Add another $9/10 for a drink or 2, a dinner for 2 could get close to $100. We selected ribs, brisket, and chorizo with sides of mac and cheese, mash potatoes, and watermelon salad. The brisket and ribs were nicely seasoned and moist and tender, but not falling-off-the- bones tender. All the sauces they provided were on the vinegary side, which is not my preference. Finally a barbecue place on the island that I can enjoy! It's nice to not have to travel to the city or Brooklyn for delicious bbq. To start, you wait on line to place your order. If you don't know what you want, you get a chance to pass their beautiful display of the meats being served for the day. They only take your order at the register if a table is ready or on the way to being ready which really didn't take a long time as I originally thought. We opted for some brisket, but they had a special of corned beef brisket, so we got a 1/4 lb of each, with some ribs, smoked chicken, and mashed potatoes, the burnt end baked beans and pickled veggies. The meats were my favorite, and although the chicken was juicier than most chickens I've ever had, I still think the meats stole the show. The brisket was perfectly seasoned and had the right amount of fat to meat ratio. I highly recommend the pickled veggies just because when you're eating that fatty delicious bbq, the pickled veggies really help cut the fat and I think it helped me eat more! The burnt end baked beans were also a huge hit for us. They're smoky, sweet, tangy and go really well with everything. The sauces at the table were really good too!
