My husband and I went to The Last Door on a Friday night and we got a seat at the bar right away. They had live music which was awesome, and both the bartenders were phenomenal. They were interactive, personable and very knowledgeable. I had 2 cocktails: The Last Word & After hours, my husband had the Pineapple & Oolong & the Pac-Man. All cocktails were amazing. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal. We split the short rib and the chicken kebabs. My hibiscus cocktail was delicious, sweet but not too sweet, and had such a vibrant pretty pink color. Food was phenomenal! The Sweet Garlic Chicken Bites are a must try as an app. They are loaded with juicy flavor and they are nice and crispy. Salmon was a nice size, juicy and flakey, and the sides were the perfect quantity. The pork chop was a big portion, but be ready for some heat!! There is a municipal lot nearby, and there is both a rear and front entrance. Since we were looking to keep things light and check out their menu offerings, we decided to get a few appetizers and share. The beef potato croquettes come with a spicy Peruvian green sauce. Three large croquettes were in the serving--they were a fresh balance of flavors. The garlic chicken bites were seasoned with garlic, soy sauce, honey, scallion, and toasted sesame. Lastly, we had the smashed beef sliders. This consisted of two smashed patties, white American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickle, and ketchup. This location is not affiliated with the Astoria restaurant/bar of the same name which was a bit disappointing because I love the Astoria location. I had the last word cocktail with Mezcal instead of gin and it was really good especially with the burned lime garnish, nice touch. The beef croquettes were mediocre but the green sauce they came with quite good. The tuna tartar was ok and the Brussel sprouts very good. I enjoyed it overall and the service was kind, if not super attentive. Definitely seems to be more of a drinks place with a good weekday happy hour than a great dinner spot. read more

Highly recommend! The restaurant was cozy and had a warm feeling to it. The employees were all excellent and knowledgeable about the menu and the owner was always walking around introducing himself and asking if we need anything. The food was amazing! We have tried the tuna tartare (so good we went back for seconds). We did add some lime juice to it table side as I like mine more acidic but it was delicious. We split the Salmon dish. It is so incredible that I found myself craving it weeks after I had it which is not typical for me. They light an edible rice paper on the top of it which elevates the experience of the cocktail. Absolutely incredible place! We had been wanting to try The Last Word for quite some time and we finally snagged a reservation with some friends for a Saturday evening. The front is small with the bar and a few high top tables. Down a narrow hallway is the dining room which still has a TV (for football) and sitdown tables. This is definitely a tapas environment where you are encouraged to share your plates with the rest of your table. We started with the brown sugar brussel sprouts as my partner and I LOVE brussels but our friends had never had them. Everybody enjoyed. From there we tried the octopus (very tender), pork belly (good), toast with meat and aji (THE BEST THING OF THE NIGHT!), and everything else I am honestly forgetting. Everything was delicious. For drinks I had the Crush on You which is mezcal with guava. So good and refreshing. My partner had the tequila con cafe (espresso martini) and enjoyed it with the cold foam. Service was stellar with our waiter checking on us just enough without being overbearing. It's not cheap to eat here but it's the perfect location for a night out in Huntington village without the sea of frat boys. read more

Our server was very nice and although we were initially not intending to drink, he mentioned that the place was "cocktail forward" several times so we ended up trying several, including a virgin one for my friend who is breast feeding, and we loved them all! For food, we tried so many items. The experience at The Last Word was an interesting one, and it gets 3 stars because of the very friendly and generous manager that was there this evening, otherwise it would have been a 2 overall, let me explain. We decided to come for a late dinner after work around 9pm, and we walked in the back where we met the manager Matt, and he had a nice table by the Christmas Tree to sit. My gf was very hungry, and the server recommended we get like 2 plates each and that would be filling, so we did. For drinks, the first one I got was smooth but had a very low level when I got it. We noticed that other reviews mentioned this, so I brought it up to Matt, he agreed and comped a new drink of my choice. So he made the situation right. Her drink she got was a "Read My Lips" which is essentially a glass of prosecco with a little bit of caviar. Nothing special. We got the Brussel Sprouts, Fig Toast, Mac and Cheese, Chicken Sliders and Yucca Truffle fries. Her favorite was the Brussel Sprouts, which in my opinion were overcooked and not too good flavor wise but alright. The Mac and Cheese was good for me, but she thought it was just like melted Velveta, The Chicken Slider was good for me also, but she thought it was basically raw and undercooked. The Yucca Fries tasted like they were stale, and the sauces were not great. The Fig Toast for me was the best, a simple thing to make and we both agreed, delicious. Overall, we were both underwhelmed and disappointed with the dinner, which came out to $113 before Tip. Pretty expensive for small dishes and not great food. I've been wanting to try The Last Word, a newish Peruvian cocktails and tapas eaterie in Huntington Village, for awhile, and selected it for my birthday dinner. They have an absolutely amazing and creative cocktail menu; I started with Pisco Milk Punch (pisco infused with orange and cinnamon, lime, pineapple juice, absinthe and sugar). Like drinking faerie dust. My wife picked the The Best I Ever Had (gin, lime, matcha almond milk, pineapple juice, coconut cream and white cacao), served in a cat! Fish and shrimp ceviche was vibrant and bursting with lime and spice. Lomo saltado in a sourdough bread bowl was so yummy and savory, as was the arroz chaufa con chorizo, which we paired with a glass of malbec for her and rioja for me. We ended up coming here on a night they had a private event which was pretty loud and a bit on the wilder side considering we just wanted to stop in for a few quick bites and a drink. The hostess was super accommodating, and realized on her own that she should move us to a different area where you're removed from the noise from the party. The ceviche-WOW. I really really really enjoyed it, and loved the brine that it came out in. I drank it out of the bowl it was served in. We had the sliders, instead of a bun they use plantains-innovative and delicious. We also did a lomito saltado in a bread bowl-marinated steak with onions and tomatoes served in a bowl that absorbs all the flavors. We had the salmon and risotto as well, flavorful and creamy. My mouth is watering thinking about the food. I started with the last word, one of my fav cocktails & it was good, now they are a little on the smaller size but also priced a little lower, what I like about that is you can try more. We got Thai crispy Brussels, roasted baby carrots, ceviche with shrimp, Mac & cheese, sorry no photo, beer braised short rib on grits.....OMG my fav from a bunch of outstanding tastes. If there are better cocktails on Long Island, I'd like to know about it. The only local-ish place that had better, was that place with all the doorknobs in Farmingdale, and that folded. I like the lucky cat but I wonder how they can get them completely clean ... best not to think too hard about that. Unusual for cocktail bars, the food is decent, too. We just recently made our second trip to this very nice establishment and we were not disappointed. On our first visit during the holidays we came in with a friend and the girls absolutely loved the specialty cocktail menu to begin with. We ordered almost everything on a very short but delicious menu. Alas, the first time we ordered the ceviche we were charged but never received it. Bummer. They, of course removed the charge, so not a monumental problem. Two months later it was the birthday of the same friend that came with us the first time and she asked to come back again. Of course, we obliged and came in a second time. As luck would have it, we had the same table- which we liked before and the girls ordered some cocktails that they also loved again. I'm not sure if it was a "due to Covid" problem, but our server was also the bartender and hostess and bus-person on this visit. She was amazing and sweet and really did look after all of the 4-5 tables on a Tuesday night flawlessly. We, once again, ordered ceviche, and did not receive it. I've yet to look to see if we were ever charged but we loved all of the other food that was delivered. Mussels were a must and just about anything you order will make your mouth really happy. It's Long Island, so not inexpensive but fair it you compare the competition. We would come back again but will pay extra attention to whether we ever receive our ceviche in the future and demand to finally have that fresh seafood in our mouths. read more

The serving size of every dish was very small as to be expected of tapas although I did not expect the drinks to be so small. They were very tasty but a few sips and it was gone. So I came up on this place when I was trying to make a reservation through Resy and OpenTable. I never knew this place existed but I have walked by the street multiple times as it's on a restaurant row. We got it a shot since it got a really good review. As we walked in it was a bit empty for a Saturday night, staged as a bar with high top tables in the front. The Host he said it's been open since September, we definitely didn't need a reservation as we walked to the back where it was quieter and sat down. The cocktail drinks were very interesting and delicious. I tried a Peruvian drink which was delicious but half filled. The menu is set up as tapas style conducive for sharing. We ordered multiple different things and we're very pleased with our selections especially the brussels sprouts, ceviche, fried chicken, yucca truffle fries and the octopus. My only complaint was the bone marrow was still bloody inside. I usually like it will done but we were able to send it back and got a new one which was also undercooked, but the service was impeccable. The drinks were literally amazing. Every one was sophisticated and specially made. The truffle fries were also outstanding. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the mussels. We really were expecting more of a mussel dish but instead came out 6 individual mussels that were the spiciest thing I ever tasted. I don't remember exactly what my husband drank, but it was a lovely egg white foamy number that filled a coupe glass nicely. Fair enough. The milk punch, however, consisted of about an ounce and a half of liquid total. Yes, it was delicious--the whole single sip--but it left me feeling robbed before the meal even started. It's a punch! With fruit juice! How could it be smaller than a shot? I had to stifle a laugh when the server asked if I wanted a second round. Food was very good: ceviche, tostones, empanadas, all delicious. The papa rellena and shrimp tacos got high marks, the jalea slightly less so. We came on a weeknight and there was no dedicated server, just the bartender. To her credit, service was good despite it being pretty busy. Kitchen was definitely slow. If we returned, I'd probably skip the drinks. I was trying to decide where to eat in Huntington (so many choices!) and I saw a "new and hot" post on Yelp for Peruvian cocktail restaurant which piqued my interest. Once I saw reviews mentioning Jalea and yucca fries, we walked over. The hostess, Catherine, was probably one of the most helpful, friendliest hosts I have encountered in a long time. We sat at the bar because the place was packed. Glad we did because we had a nice conversation with another couple. Anyway, the albarino and riojo wines were both very good. The jalea (fried seafood platter) was delicious, tasty and not too heavy. The green and orange dips were emptied out of the ramekins. The ceviche was magnificent and came with crisp plantain chips. And because the food was so delicious we just had to try the lomita, a skirt steak and sauce in a sourdough bread bowl. Very satisfying. Added a side of yucca fries which were perfect.
