I've never been treated more poorly in my life. The manager who said his name was Alex was sexist and offensive. We came in after a fun dinner at Barcelona where I had one glass of wine. I don't drink often so when we went to old glory I ordered a water and my two girlfriends ordered margaritas. We sat at a tiny corner booth with a very small three legged table. The table tapped my foot and fell over knocking over the waters and one cocktail. We apologized and asked for another drink due to the wobbly table. They were mad and so inappropriate charging our credit cards and adding gratuity. The manager kept telling me I was drunk even though I'd only ordered water. I was told multiple times I was drunk so I guess being a woman and laughing with her friends immediately labels you a belligerent drunk. We felt bullied and disrespected. I was also told that the mention of included gratuity was " all over the menu". I searched the QR code with the menu could not find gratuity mentioned once and when I brought it to the "managers"" attention I was yelled at and made fun of ( again being called drunk multiple times.) If this guy even was the manager and if his name is even Alex. Ive worked in the service industry for a decade and never been treated this poorly in my life. I will NEVER go back. read more

I only found Old Glory thanks to a local's recommendation of "you have to check it out". Now I've heard that statement before and was disappointed in some other visits. That wasn't the case with Old Glory! Like everyone has said it's a bit tricky to find but it added to the appeal of the lounge. Right after walking in you descend down the amazing gold staircase that mimics the gold triangle on the door. Ascetically it feels like an industrial speakeasy. Then as the night goes on the entire lounge is illuminated by candlelight. Now the staff and cocktails are both amazing! Our waitress was fantastic and was able to provide her own recommendations for us! I was surprised to see the large selection of gin and gin based cocktails. It was very refreshing! You know in Eyes Wide Shut when Tom Cruise walks into the party and is like "I can't believe this place exists" - that's basically my exact reaction while walking into Old Glory. It's super dark, incredibly vast (feels like you're in a massive basin but there are multiple levels and both intimate and group options for seating), the DJ is generally playing chiller hip-hop and some throwbacks, and cocktail selection is stellar. Cash/card photo booth for the mems. Lots of private seating options - I think you can like find a little table/seating spot under the staircase? (on some Harry Potter sh*t). Not much seating at the bar, but why would you sit at the bar when you can post somewhere cooler? If you're feeling fancy, go to Old Glory. If you're feeling like a bachelorette-in-the-shadows, go to Old Glory. Very "bring your friends/first date here to make them think you're way cooler than you actually are" vibes. Found this place years ago hunting down self proclaimed Speak easies. We've been coming here for years ever since. The place has definitely gotten away from the Speak ez vibe and into Broadway street crowd. Came here with a large group on a weekend when they 1st open. No one inside we had the whole place to ourselves. There was about 14 of us..white, black, Asain, straight, gay..very ecleptic group. We went up to the bar and ordered. A snotty waitress was training a new gal and told us we would have to sit in the nearby section if we want service..ok..we sat but drinks took forever. I gave waitress my cc and told her to stop at $400. She walked away. Several of us got up and sat at the bar. Waitress told us the bar is reserved for a group coming in? Um..okay. we will move when they arrive. Keep in mind ..we were the only ones in there. After 90 mins or so I asked if we could get food or bring some in. Was told no and no. So..we ordered White Castle and took turns walking outside to munch. Our group are all over 45 yrs old..gramps and very relaxed. At 2 hrs I approached the waitress and asked what the balance was as its gotta be close to the $400. She looked and said..its $650. I told her to stop at $400. She shrugged and said she lost track. Not wanting to cause an uncomfortable scene for our party I paid it. Wasn't happy..I know I know..ultimately MY responsibility but the waitress also has a responsibility to provide a friendly professional service...if you go..pay by the drink.. The party that reserved the bar? Yeah..never showed..the drinkS are pretentious and it seems like they could care less. Our group had a good time not knowing the behind the scene lack of professionalism as we left my wife and I both agreed Old Glory has turned into nothing more than a pretentious over priced loud bar. It was nice 1st couple of years but we will move on. Won't be coming back. It's cool..but as we left a couple in our group felt like they weren't welcomed based upon one reason or another. The atmosphere was fantastic! I got there just as they opened so no customers were there yet but I imagine if there were it would have been an even cooler experience. You have to look for the place but once you recognize the door to enter you are golden ( I walked by it twice ). I had a dark rum with coffee ice cube to drink called the Panther Panther. I also had toast with avocado, egg, and other goodies which was delicious. The bartender was way cool and since there was no one there we got to talking about our lives, etc. I would definitely recommend having a drink here! read more

This bar is, in a word, surreal. I haven't been to Nashville much, this was my first time in the city and my youngest brother kept raving about Old Glory. He can be prone to flights of hyperbole, so I put only a modest amount of stock and what he said. But what we found was was, truly, breathtaking. The bar is situated and an old, former laundry facility. The ceiling soars at least 30 or 40 feet above your heads. We went on a very sparsely populated Monday night, but the damn lights and delicious cocktails made the experience entirely memorable. This bar FEELS like it is a hidden treasure. Hell, it might be known to everybody in town. But the way that it feels once you're in there, once you're in the space, once you are sitting up on one of the slightly higher level balconies, it is intimate and brooding and anachronistic all at once. Cool atmosphere to hang out and have a conversation. Lots private tables to miss the hustle and noise of other bars. When walking in the discrete entrance you wouldn't expect what is found behind. The entrance leads to a huge open room with tables in private nooks for many tables. Beyond the nooks you'll find an additional level of tables to overlook the rest of the bar. Drink options were excellent and the server didn't push us to the most expensive menu items, which is always appreciated. read more

I was sad one evening. I sat outside Edgehill Cafe. Rain everywhere. I saw a white rabbit dash into Taco Mamacitas, and I followed him. His coattails flapped in the drizzle. "I'm late. I'm late," he kept muttering, checking his clock, looking on fleek in Imogen and Willie jeans. I opened the door, and saw him scurry down a passageway, and I bounded after him. I chased him down a dark passage and opened a heavy door, and stumbled into Wonderland. A giant metallic shell stood in a corner, grabbing my neck and yanking it upwards. I searched and couldn't find the ceiling, so high it was. Concrete slabs laid crudely everywhere, like a giant's playpen. People milled about amiably. I looked for the White Rabbit, but he was busy ordering a drink at the bar. I walked around, unsure whether I was in a bar, or in some trippy Brooklyn underground scene. The music poured from everywhere, and for a second, I was sure that the DJ was inside the metallic chimney. He wasn't, but he should be, replete with disco lights, spinning tunes from his Rapunzel tower, letting down his golden beats and taking us all higher. I have no words for this place, except a great sadness that it didn't exist before. The drinks were well priced and the options many. Food came in from somewhere, but I didn't feel like eating at that point. The place has all the class, and none the pretentiousness that such joints typically attract...for now. 3.5 There are some fantastic qualities to Old Glory but there, too, are some nagging holdovers that keep it from the vast potential it is. First off: the space is exhilarating. What an incredible way to repurpose an old space. With all the new construction popping out throughout the metro, Old Glory gets it right. You can create a stunning space without destroying history and depending on making something cookie cutter. A distinctive space to whet one's whistle is nearly as important as the libation program. The soaring ceiling, exposed brick, laid-to-bare boiler elements, and unusual seating/landing space (think Escher... or the Mall at Green Hills) all combine to make Old Glory one of the more unique places to grab a cocktail in Nashville. If you're able to belly up to the bar, take the space in (stools, bar, flooring); it's stunning. And what of the cocktail program? Fantastic. Obviously, the folks behind the concept and execution know what's up wrt making inventive and delicious cocktails. Rather than cashing in on a trend, these beverages are made with skill, time, care, and consideration. The price point adequately reflects the end product and said end product isn't a flurry of ice and/or glassware tricks. My colada swizzle was a fun romp of rum, colors, fruit, and sweetness. This the Kids In The Hall Girl Drink Drunk™ taken to 11. I decided to man up for my next cocktail. The Spring Gingham was a surprising win of bourbon and grapefruit (doesn't get manlier than either of these two ingredients). When it comes to cocktails, Old Glory doesn't have many peers in town. So... 3.5? Unfortunately, yes. Read everything I described up top: the beautiful bar, stunning space, soaring ceiling, and captivating menu... and add to it a joylessness that evokes 1980s North Korea. I don't understand. It's booze in a pretty place. Why the sighs? Why the shrugs? I dared to belly up to the bar (before realizing that there's roaming servers to help expedite drinks) and came away depressed. Not only were the folks behind the bar incredibly dismissive to me, I witnessed them be outright rude to others. While it made me feel good (that's not the right word) for a second that the contempt wasn't necessarily personal, I swung back to being annoyed when I realized that the very people making it possible for the OG ptb to pay their rent were treated with such contempt. If serving the public makes for a loathsome experience, sling bars out of your house for your friends and call it a day. It's booze. It's not medical research. Smile. Relax. Another ding: the atmosphere is... odd. As beautiful as the layout is, I couldn't figure out the crowd. While I pondered, my formerly-of-Los-Angeles-but-native-Tennesseean friend laid it out for me: this crowd belongs in LA (and 'crowd' is the right word; the space was uncomfortably full). This is not a slam in and of itself. LA is a cool place. It has a lot to offer wrt music, fashion, food, drink, and the like. That said, Nashville is not Los Angeles. Nashville is Nashville and that vibe is completely missing from OG. Whether that's by design or accident, I found it off-putting. I've lived in nine different American cities. I chose to move to Nashville for a reason: I liked Nashville. If I wanted to experience another city, I'd move elsewhere. Again, perhaps not the fault of OG but the vibe of my Friday night there was a bit... desperate? Inorganic? Out of sync? I dunno. For as many wonderful qualities as the bar has (and there are several; I think the 3.5/4 is accurate and fair), I felt decidedly out of place and unwelcome. That's too bad. read more

Highly recommended -- my wife really, really loved the Little Birdie (lavender, vodka), proclaiming it the 'best cocktail' she had ever tried. Likewise, she enjoyed the Garden Hoe. I can't recollect the names of the drinks I consumed -- both bourbon based -- both excellent. Limited snack selection, but enough to get you through to dinner. Finding this place can be a challenge -- the door is located inside a courtyard -- unmarked on the tallest building in the vicinity. The courtyard can be accessed by Edgehill (gate) or Villa (entering towards Bella Napoli Pizzeria). read more

This place gets a five star for the atmosphere. But a one star for the snooty attitudes of the bartenders. When people behind the bar have that "I'm a mixologist" attitude and they are condescending and annoyingly pretentious... I can't get jiggy with that. The drinks are very extra, and if you watch them make the drinks it gives you the giggles. You get funny stares if you order a beer. I guess that's not fancy enough. A friend ordered a rum and pineapple, and after the bartender said okay, he came back and explain that we only have fresh squeezed juices. Rum and pomegranate? Papaya? Passion fruit? Rum and exotic blood orange from the Himalayan hidden tropical Mountain? The atmosphere and this place is pretty nice though. Wear comfortable shoes and you won't have to worry about tumbling down the staircase. They did a good job with the lighting and I think the atmosphere also plays a part in keeping the noise to a minimum. The drinks are well priced, but my experience overall wasn't good enough to recommend a visit by others. There's no real sign for the establishment; you just have to know about it. I went during the evening so it was hard to tell how incredible of a building it was but I can't wait to see it in the light next time. Very NY . my favorite part of the place is the area overlooking the bar. The space is gorgeous . I will say on the weekends it fills up pretty quickly. Being that there's only one bar , it's a bit of a wait . I'm sure that's something they'll work out soon . The drinks are great, I tried the Tangarang & Queens Park Swizzle . Love the drinks. They have a great concept, but have somehow gotten away from the speakeasy vibe and have decided to be a "college" bar. If you're there and they decide, just because they want to, by looking at you, they will automatically charge you gratuity. They don't believe that a college student can tip enough, so that's there "bar rule". This came from the lady who claimed to be the owner herself. When my friend had an issue with this she said "take it up with your bank". Watch out everybody. You're probably paying more for your drinks than you know. Profiling. That's what I think. However, when we saw our receipt the next day, we noticed that they already added a 20% tip to the bill. I know it's customary to add tips if you are with large parties, but to add a 20% tip for 4 drinks is not common. (I've never heard of this before). Then, to not tell you is down right sneaky. Old Glory is killing it. This place is currently # 1 in my book - especially for late night drinks! The vibe is dark and dungeon-like and the music echoes and bounces off all the brick and steel surfaces like nobody's business. Dimly lit with little nooks and crannies where you can get all zoned out with the special person you're with. This new bar is tucked behind Taco Mamacita and is a very comfortable walk from my house. So I want to love it and give it 5 stars but they need a little work before they get there. I'm hoping to update/upgrade this review soon! Here are some areas that could use some improvement: 1. The layout - the room is amazing but the way that the table are arranged is not ideal. There is quite a bit of wasted space in the middle of the room, and some of the tables are too large but not exactly communal. Also there is NO LIGHT in some of the alcoves and trying to read a menu by candlelight makes one feel old in a non-glorious way. 2. The acoustics - it is hard to avoid reverb in a nearly cubical room but surely there are some steps that could be taken. Perhaps a baffle or two could work wonders. 3. The music selection - similar to several of the other commenters, I found the music selection strange. It was top 40's when I was there and that just doesn't seem to match the vibe at all. I didn't get to try any of the food but the drinks were good, looking forward to going back soon and seeing some improvements! read more

We came when it first opened and we were blown away! The drinks were top notch & the food did not disappoint. The bartender was not super pleasant the last time we were in, but our waitress was awesome (wish I remembered her name)!!! The music taste in this spot is great, and the ambience is eclectic, because hey! You're in a boiler room! This is a fun place for a girls night out, a date night (get there early), or before/after dinner cocktails. It's usually packed so plan ahead and don't get disappointed if there's no where to sit. We live in Nashville now, everywhere is packed unless you go on a random weekday night (minus the weekend). Old Glory was recommended to me and I was not expecting this place when I walked in! After finally finding the door I was blown away by the dim-lit, high ceiling room you immediately walk into. The designer of this place must have had a vision when turning this 1920s boiler room into a really cool bar! The atmosphere is great for after date drinks, but I wouldn't come here with a large group of people. The cocktails are great, and your standard price for Nashville. They also have some beers on the menu. I love showing guests in town this place because it's nothing like I've ever seen before!
