The college-aged gentleman who was working, didn't seem too interested in helping us and was only willing to sell us the most expensive helmet in the store. I explained our situation and he basically pushed us out of the store. I might have to buy equipment from here in the future, but I am very hesitant, due to how I was treated. As a specialty sporting goods store, the needs of the customer should be embraced, and employees are expected to be able to recommend the appropriate equipment for all price points. Do better.

I know the great Jimmy Brown from the NFL played college lacrosse at Syracuse. I know its big on Long Island and in Maryland. That's about it. But I also know that my 13-year old cousin from California is a big lacrosse guy and plays on his high school's lacrosse team. I also know we'll be visiting him soon. So when my wife had the brilliant idea of visiting Lacrosse Unlimited in Avon to see what cool stuff we could get for him, it seemed like a great idea. It sure was! I figured they'd have lacrosse sticks and balls, and of course they did. They also had lacrosse T-Shirts, sweatshirts, gym shorts, wool caps, socks, games, books, and everything lacrosse. Hell -they even had lacrosse greeting cards. The young guy that waited on us was super -he basically walked around the whole store and looked at what a 13-year old might like. He was very helpful and personable, and it was evident that he sure loved the sport, So if anyone in your personal world is a lacrosse guy or girl, this is a place you really need to visit. Even if its just for the lacrosse birthday card!!

I was told people get served in the order they arrive, but that would be a slow time so it should be fine. I arrived at that time, a Tuesday around 1.30 during a non-school vacation day. Signing in on the sheet by the door, all names above were crossed off giving the impression we would be next. 4 people were in mixed stages of trying on shoes with only 1 employee on the sales floor. He avoided looking at me. Within a few minutes, 1 patron bought her shoes. Great, I thought. Closer to getting fitted for needed insoles and new sneakers! A man walked in, went over to the employee asking for a particular person. 'That's me' said the employee. 'Have a seat and I'll be with you shortly'. The employee NEVER acknowledged me. Waiting was a waste of time given I was going to be passed over. I left. Not enough employees to take care of all the patrons. And a sloppy system of who gets taken care of, when. This happened Tuesday 3/24/26.

I was considering seeing a doctor and gearing up for the possibility of surgery. Before I jumped to medical intervention, I decided to go to Fleet Feet to see if anyone could help me. I figured if anyone had experienced with foot pain, it would be runners. An employee, Dave, had me hop on two pieces of tech that measured my feet, gait, and walking pattern. He was able to identify my size, arch height, foot width, and level of stability. Apparently, I was wearing the wrong type of sneakers and lacked arch support. He fitted me with insoles and a few weeks later, wide toed sneakers. Since then I have had ZERO pain! I realized I had been wearing the wrong type of sneakers my WHOLE LIFE. I am genuinely amazed at how much easier running, walking, even standing is now. I owe Dave my life. Thank you guys so much!

In an attempt to find an upgrade immediately, I went to REI. At REI you'll find an assortment of items for your active lifestyle. There's items for camping, for hiking, for skiing, etc... The coats are sorted by brand. I looked through, they had just one, in one color and one size. I asked the associate, they told me I could order online. Mind blowing info, isn't it? Unfortunately my online experience wasn't much better. Maybe everyone else is looking to replace their coats at the same time. I walked out empty handed. It might be worth stopping by, since the rest of their inventory looked like it might cater to certain lifestyles.

The fire is gone. I…read moreremembered The Run In as one of those iconic holes in the wall that all the elite runners knew about and flocked to. Back when I ran marathon I would buy my shoes from nowhere else. That was 25 years ago. Today I took my daughter there for an early Christmas present. That was a mistake. We arrived at 11am and sat waiting until John opened his door a half hour late. As a courtesy we gave him a few minutes to settle before walking in and were greeted with almost a scowl, made to feel like we were an inconvenience. He had my daughter take off her shoes, asked her size and without another word produced a couple models for her to try and walked away. Trying to make small talk with the man to hopefully engage him a little, as a retail shop owner should be, was next to impossible. Top this all off with door handles that haven't been washed in at least 25 years. The inside in disrepair, smelling like a men's locker room with half empty shelves and what was there strewn about like a bachelor's pad. Positively the worst retail experience I've had in a very long time, perhaps ever. My advice to John is sell the place while he still has a shred of brand equity left in the name and call it a day. He clearly didn't want to be there and this was clearly not the place I remembered. My daughter and I walked away feeling very sad for John, very upset with the whole experience, and bought elsewhere. P.S. I tried to post this review at Superpages and was censored. Any 5 star rating seen there for The Run In is completely manufactured. Don't believe it.
