I called days ahead to see if they accept appointments; they do not. I asked if I came on a Tuesday around 1:30, how busy they would be. I was told people get served in the order they arrive, but that would be a slow time so it should be fine. I arrived at that time, a Tuesday around 1.30 during a non-school vacation day. Signing in on the sheet by the door, all names above were crossed off giving the impression we would be next. 4 people were in mixed stages of trying on shoes with only 1 employee on the sales floor. He avoided looking at me. Within a few minutes, 1 patron bought her shoes. Great, I thought. Closer to getting fitted for needed insoles and new sneakers! A man walked in, went over to the employee asking for a particular person. 'That's me' said the employee. 'Have a seat and I'll be with you shortly'. The employee NEVER acknowledged me. Waiting was a waste of time given I was going to be passed over. I left. Not enough employees to take care of all the patrons. And a sloppy system of who gets taken care of, when. I was experiencing a ton of foot pain. At the end of each day, my big toe joint would be pulsating and sore. I was considering seeing a doctor and gearing up for the possibility of surgery. Before I jumped to medical intervention, I decided to go to Fleet Feet to see if anyone could help me. I figured if anyone had experienced with foot pain, it would be runners. An employee, Dave, had me hop on two pieces of tech that measured my feet, gait, and walking pattern. He was able to identify my size, arch height, foot width, and level of stability. Apparently, I was wearing the wrong type of sneakers and lacked arch support. He fitted me with insoles and a few weeks later, wide toed sneakers. Since then I have had ZERO pain! FIRST CLASS recent experience at the West Hartford store with Mike. A quick foot scan revealed I had been wearing the wrong size shoe for years, and provided other great insights (one foot bigger than the other, issues with mid foot landing, and turns out I don't pronate as much as I thought). Mike immediately understood my needs and figured out 3 great options - I went with the much-hyped Adidas Adizero Evo SL with new insoles. And thank goodness I did. I was a little nervous after 10+ years as a Brooks evangelist, but this shoe is worth every single column inch of praise and the results have been instant; I ran my best 5k for years in only my 2nd run in them. I have terrible flat feet and pronate in, and usually wear sneakers with orthotics, but I'm recovering from knee replacement and had been wearing sketchers slip-ons for the past 4 months and they were great. I really thought I'd never need orthotics again, BUT suddenly yesterday, the side of my right foot starting hurting right by the bone, and I couldn't wear the sketchers anymore. And my old sneakers didn't fit anymore. so I checked the reviews and found Fleet Feet, and they really live up to their reputation. I signed in, and within 5 minutes, Scott came over to help me. He was fantastic, and found me the perfect pair of walking sneakers that solved my problem. I had brought my orthotics, but when I put them in the sneaker, my toes were curling over the end of the orthotics, making it feel "weird" when I walked. Scott took the extra time to find a solution for me, and I walked out of the store with my new sneakers, and the adjustment he made so the orthotics fit perfectly in the sneaker. Everyone in the Farmington Valley knows the place to go for sneakers is the Fleet Feet store located in West Hartford. The employees really know the products, use their special diagnostic foot machines to determine what kind of support or features would be the most beneficial to you. I went a few days ago and the service was spectacular as usual, John was who helped me to find the 2 most comfortable sneakers. He also found inserts that made these shoes even more stable for me. He was knowledgeable and friendly and fun ~ definitely patient and truly was responsible for making my experience positive! My only complaint is the lack of inventory available... they only had one color available in my size, in the two brands of sneakers I was interested in. So unfortunately, I ordered sneakers on Fleet.com. It truly stained my enjoyment of the experience not being able to give John the sale. Management if you read this, John deserves any/all commission and credit for the two pairs of sneakers I bought. It isn't John's or the Fleet store's fault there are supply shortages, that's the fault of the current government policies and mistakes, so I am not docking this store for that. 5 stars for knowledgeable service, and for being far better than it other places sneakers are sold. read more

Fantastic experience first time in here today! On recommendation of my friend's podiatrist, she and I came in to get an appropriate shoe for her arches. We had a toddler and infant with us. Sami the associate was tremendous, and the overall store experience was wonderful! My friend got her feet assessed using the in-store Fit ID, and she was able to try on several pairs of sneakers, in several available colors, with no pressure. The kid's corner with toys is extremely helpful when shopping with a toddler!! Seems like this is the place in town to get the right shoes, as many people were coming in to get fitted and find their best shoes. From overhearingthem work with other customers, the staff is attentive, and knowledgeable. The best thing this place has is location. High-pressure sales and the new ownership is clearly very toxic by the way they answer questions. Every associate reiterates the 60 day return policy to get you to walk out of the store with something in hand - as other reviewers have said, expect an attitude if you take them up on it. I had to return shoes because I wasn't sized properly and the customer experience was an uncomfortable hassle. Bought a pair of very expensive running shoes in Aug 2018. Told the gentleman who sold them to us that we were going to be out of state for 9-10 months starting the following week so we were concerned about the return policy in case there was a issue. We were assured that there was a one-year return policy so we shouldn't worry. The shoes started ripping about 3 months. Having just gotten back to the area we went in today and spoke with Nancy. She was rude, dismissive and completely uninterested in helping us. With no regard for customer service, she simply said, "Sorry. You are wrong. Our return policy is only 60 days." (With a time of voice that could only be interpreted as "sucks to be you".) Our suggestion: go to Fleet Feet. Get fitted and select shoes, but then save money and purchase them elsewhere. This store is above and beyond, and I would highly recommend a visit if you're trying to find a good athletic shoe. The whole premise of the business is already something to admire, because shoes that are going to be used as intensely as those meant for athletic purposes need to be designed to fit your individual needs, which is pretty hard for the average layperson to figure out on their own. The staff here are friendly and made the whole process easy and so individually catered. Using their technology to map your steps and pressure points, as well as your input about how you'll use the shoe, they're able to direct you to a few options. They keep you very informed of your results and what they mean, and this transparency is appreciated. I felt that I was being listened to and that my thoughts about the shoes I were given were being factored into the fitting process. All of the options were quite comfortable and I ended up finding a pair that I am really excited about. It was a pretty quick process but was not at all rushed. Though the prices are steep, this is truly a case of you get what you pay for. I had previously come here in early high school and was fitted with a shoe that carried me through cross country comfortably, and definitely definitely felt like I was taking care of my feet as much as I could because of fleet feet. read more

I got my most recent pair about a week ago and I'm already feeling so much better on my runs. Prices are very fair. They are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Although sometimes it's cheaper to buy shoes online, going to this store and buying sneakers is the best. I recently moved to Hartford from Boston and was looking to connect with other runners. I learned about Fleet Feet's Wednesday night / Saturday morning running events after racing in a 5K sponsored by the Hartford Marathon Foundation. I'm so glad I tried out this running group! They offer 3 and 7 mile runs on Saturday mornings and welcome those of ALL running abilities. I felt super welcomed when I walked into the store by their staff member. I got to browse the store for a bit before the run and they have a stylish selection of gear, and some high tech equipment for runner performance analysis. I immensely enjoyed my running experience (what a perfect trail loop beginning and ending at the store, with beautiful scenery and a good mix of hills and flat road). They even had free, yummy electrolyte tablets and a water cooler waiting for us when we got back. Afterwards, I was able to refuel with a bite to eat and a coffee right around the corner, which was super convenient. Can't wait for my next run with FF! read more

In the age of technology and 24 hour on line shopping - there are still some things that I would rather try on at a brick and motor store. Take running - which I love almost above all things. When it comes down to it, running is a pretty low tech sport. You can pretty much throw on some clothes and head out the door for a run any given day no matter what the weather. The one thing that I won't mess with and won't skimp on, which I have learned through much trial and error is my foot wear and that is why I love this store. From the first time I entered the store wearing shoes that were "cute" but not functional at all to my most recent shopping experience, I always know that I am going to be assisted by a smiling and more likely then not a knowledgeable sales associate, whom I know shares the same passion I do and will make sure that I leave in shoes that might not be "cute" but will make sure that I am able to keep pounding the pavement. Within the past year Fleet Feet Sports has also expanded their location allowing them to showcase a larger variety of footwear, clothing and accessories catering to runners and tri athletes of all levels. This is both a blessing and a curse for my wallet. Additionally - in the summer the store hosts weekly Thursday night track workouts, various training groups throughout the year, and weekly runs of varying distances. I will start by saying I have never left a review online. I have been going to Fleet Feet for about 15-20 years, the experience I had today will make it so I will never return. In the past I have recommended Fleet Feet to everyone that needed a great place to go for help with "getting the right sneaker". Today I went into Fleet feet with an issue with a pair of sneakers that I purchased a few weeks ago, I told the sales person that this pair of sneakers were hurting the top of my foot and when I looked inside the sneaker there was something sharp attached to the tongue(maybe glue). The woman said she didn't feel anything and that is a personal preference?? when I tried to show her the pointy piece she continued to say she didn't feel it. Her response to me was "This time I will let you exchange the sneakers". THIS TIME??? They have a defect, I was so hurt and humiliated by her demeanor that I took back the defected sneakers and left the store. I plan on contacting Brooks directly to see if they can remedy the situation and as I stated I will no longer be a customer at Fleet Feet, so disappointed. read more

I came back to this place, because this was in my neighborhood, and I finally decided to ditch the ole running on a track to run on streets. There was a staff at this place who helped to revive the state of my feet. I normally have not a clue to what a good or proper shoe for my type of feet. Caitlin, the staff member at Fleet Sports was here to save my Achilles heel. Caitlin was a sweetheart. She measured my foot, made me run on a treadmill and walk back and forth to check out what my stride and form was for a shoe. When she made me do the "model runway walk" assessment, she crouched down, like a golfer would eyeing the angle of how the golf ball may go into the golf hole. She even encouraged me to walk outside of the store to see how the shoes felt feel, before purchasing them. Caitlin was very knowledgeable. I had to ask if this place only employed podiatrists, or athletic trainers because of the vast amount of knowledge and assessments they make a customer go through. I loved it! I left this place comfortable, as well as enlightened. Came to this store because it was a sponsor/vendor for the NU Hartford Marathon, which my boyfriend will be running tomorrow. He needed a hat for the race since rain was in the forecast. The store itself was very small compared to what I was accustomed to in the West Coast. It's clean, staff is friendly & helpful. They have a small selection of the newest styles of clothing & shoes especially geared to runners & tri-athletes, but any fitness level could shop here. My boyfriend & I both checked in on yelp & received a "20% Off Purchase" coupon but upon purchase was told it was expired (was only valid Nov-Dec 2012), but they honored it anyways. What an amazing experience I had today at fleet feet. I've been a personal trainer for the past five years and recently decided to work on my distance running. I've been having some knee issues and decided to invest in some high-quality sneakers specifically designed for running so I can have the proper tools. I walked into the store and was warmly greeted, then set up with one of their specialists Jeremy. I enjoy the technicals of human biomechanics and how to improve them, and Jeremy was right on the money with knowing his stuff, and helping me learn more specifics about running as well. We did a 3d foot scan to assess my feet, he wached me run on a treadmill to determine if there was anything that needed improvement with the way I ran, and we tried on almost half a dozen sneakers until we found the perfect fit. I can't stress enough how important it is to know your feet, know your footwear, and know how to properly run based on your own body type. Jerermy was amazing at helping me with all of these areas. We probably spent an hour or more talking about shoes and feet while trying them on. I really appreciate how I felt like I was in good hands and didn't feel rushed. I left the store today thinking "this place is awesome, and I want more people to know it" so this is the resulting review. I have bought sneakers from fleet feet for over 3 or 4 years...i would describe myself as a low maintenance customer; sneaker profile on computer, just bring out my size, i dont even care about the color...3 pair of socks plus the one extra with purchase..done. i LOVE that the sneaker kid has future goals to be a physical therapist and his dad taught him about finances....but, he overlooked the double charge on a pair of sneakers and actually let me walk out the door. I really enjoy the customer service and attention provided at this store. I have ran on the treadmill and most recently, had my feet measured, to help determine the right kind of sneaker. The sales person never seems to be in a rush, even when there are loads of people in there. And it's great to be able to run down the street and really try out the sneakers before buying them. The return policy is like none other, as they really let you try the sneakers for a period of time - you can run all you want and still return them. I am also signed up for their email. They have weekly fun runs for free and are very supportive of the running community. This store is fairly far from my home and there are running stores closer, but I go out of my way to shop here.
