Found by accident when our first choice was closed, this is my new favorite place to drink and eat! Arriving on a very busy Monday evening around 7, they took our name for a proposed 45 min wait. Six of us in our group. We went to the bar to pass the time. I ordered an espresso martini that was out of this world (bartender Danielle!) and then suddenly, we were seated after only fifteen minutes. The appetizers were all delicious - grouper bites so delicious! I ordered another martini and chicken Alfredo. It was perfect and a large portion. Very disappointed with our experience at Jellyfish Bar & Grill. The food was mediocre at best and didn't justify the prices, and the staff came across as rude and unwelcoming throughout our visit. The biggest surprise was being charged $41 for a 1/2-pound order of basic crab claws as an appetizer. When we politely asked about the price because it seemed unusually high, instead of receiving a simple explanation, we felt we were treated disrespectfully. The response came across as dismissive, with comments that made us feel looked down upon for asking about our bill. Between the average food, unfriendly service, and what we felt were excessive prices, this was a very disappointing dining experience. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

We recently moved to the area and have been wanting to hit this restaurant. We were really lucky to stop here on this beautiful day. We sat outside in the view was terrific. I can't say enough about our service. It was just phenomenal. We were seated right away and it was pointed out to us that there were happy hour drinks, which we were thrilled about. We picked up the grouper bites, a grouper Reuben, a Caesar salad with fried oysters and could not have been happier with our food. Everything was fresh delicious, and made perfectly. What's not to love!? Let's start by saying this restaurant is located in the cutest seafoam green plaza. It looked magical at night with the lights and water fountains. Jellyfish is upstairs and there is an elevator available for those who can't manage the stairs. They have a LOT of space both inside and out. The decor is fantastic - the cutest jellyfish accents and a wonderful fish tank in the middle of the dining area. The menu has something for EVERYONE. I had a very hard time deciding but after much discussion, we opted to go with their sushi and we couldn't have been happier. The sushi was so fresh and some of the best I've had. We had three rolls; ichiban, spicy tuna, and surf and turf. We also tried the seared ahi tuna and it was so good. I also had a masago nigiri and it made me so happy. The service was FANTASTIC. Our server was so friendly and made our evening even more special. And to add to the wonderful visit, this restaurant gives military 25% off on Thursdays. What a treat!! We always have a great meal here. Y wife loves the salmon and I enjoy any of the catch of the day. This time was the mahi. We also had the fried green tomatoes which are just the right crispiness. The food comes out in a timely manner and we never run low on our drinks. We enjoy sitting on the balcony and being able to see the water albeit across the street, the view is still good. I always get the tuna nachos and add seaweed salad and crab salad.Someone else in my party got the GROUPER PONTCHARTRAIN and said it was the best dish they had all week. Poke Bowl: 4 Stars Tuna & Escolar in Poke Sauce, Sushi Rice, Avocado, Seaweed Salad, Krab Salad, & Tamago. Presentation was beautiful. Each item was plated separately within the bowl. So if you prefer not to mix the ingredients the. This is perfect for you. However, it should be mixed so flavor is melded together. Only thing missing is the eel sauce. Also, i prefer straight tuna instead of tuna and escolar. The Esolar has a slightly different texture and firmness. It is deep sea fish with a oily buttery flesh which isn't flakey. Fantastic Experience--Even for a Non-Sushi Eater! We heard about The Jellyfish Bar & Grill from friends and decided to check it out while we were in town. I'll admit I was hesitant at first because I'm not a sushi eater, but this place was well worth the visit! We had been on the boat all day and showed up absolutely starving. We were so hungry I forgot to take photos before we started eating, but trust me--the portions were larger than what you'll see here! We started with two appetizers: Yellowfin Tuna Dip--The flavor was a little more mellow than I expected, but it was still very tasty and came with fresh pita chips. Fried Grouper Bites--These were absolutely perfect! Crispy, not greasy, and served hot. One of the best grouper appetizers I've had. For the main course: I had the Grilled Grouper Tacos--packed with flavor and grilled just right. My husband had the Shrimp Tacos--he raved about how fresh and delicious they were. Both taco dishes came with their unique house-made slaw--a crisp and colorful mix of shredded cabbage, red onions, and bell peppers that added the perfect crunch and brightness to every bite. We were seated right away and our waitress Trisha was right there asking us what we needed. She was also great when we were asking questions about the menu and everything else. We ordered the lumpia to start and it came out quickly and was hot and delicious. I ordered the grouper Pontchartrain which was a seared grouper over cheese grits and gulf shrimp and the seafood was fresh and delicious. On top of all my food I also got flying fish roe nigiri it was good and so fresh but they but put too much of the roe it started to taste salty and hard to eat but it was good. The Jellyfish remains my go-to for casual upscale dining. The ambiance is casual to upscale. You don't have to dress up to come in, but you can still enjoy an upscale experience with their menu and drink selections being higher scale than some of the other local hotspots. They are the closest Sushi bar to Perdido Key and they still roll out some great tasting sushi, with a very good assortment of choices. Bar seating is our normal spot, but most days, especially during the summer season, it's hard to find any seating without a 60+ minute wait. Other than the 15-20 seats at the bar, everything else requires checking in with the hostess, and during those busy months you need to check-in at the outside hostess booth to add your name to the waitlist - no call aheads, but they do text you when your table is ready, so after getting on the list, you can grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the balcony area with friends or meeting new people. The bartenders are great, always making great recommendations for food, drinks, and having good conversation when they're not too slammed. In addition to their sushi, they're known for their Martinis and have more recently been making Smoky Old Fashions. Anytime one of those passes me at the bar, the smoky smell makes me simultaneously think I am at a campfire and a bar, wanting one. We've eaten here at least once the last few years we've been down to the beach. This time was average. Hostess took way too long to seat us. Kept looking, writing, talking to co-hostesses, checking tablet for at least 7-8 minutes. There was no wait and the place was not filled to capacity. This lovely little spot is located upstairs in a strip mall. I have driven by and never gave it a thought-brilliant I was told how amazing it is. Always a favorite stop when we get to Perdido Key. Food is great, servers are always friendly Nd they have several TVs to keep up today on college football. This year the host seemed to be a bit of a stick in the mud and didn't allow the sound from the TV broadcast. The waitresses and bartenders were still great. Would never penalize this place by retaking a star away even though the host may be a tool. New bartender Britney was so great. So was waitress Alexis. read more
