We stopped in on a busy Thursday night and grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender quickly got our drink orders while we perused the menu. The menu has an ample number of selections, and all fits on one page. My wife got the Chicken Tacos and I got the Jalapeño Burger. The burger is a creative combination of peppers within and on top, stuffed with cream cheese. It was delicious! I got the standard Shoestring Fries-they came piping hot and were also great. The tacos come with a side of chips and a nice, smoky salsa. The tacos were delicious and the ranch was a great compliment. Prices are very reasonable, and while the 15.5% taxes are crazy, that'd be the case anywhere in town. Service was excellent. Definitely recommended.

Stopped in on the way to Ouachita national Forest on a Friday evening. It was busy at 5PM but not over crowded and there were plenty of seats. Service was great. They had Yueling on tap with the tiny ice crystals. It was perfect. My husband had a Cuban, our friends had a quesadilla and Italian. I had the jalapeño bacon burger minus the bun. Everyone thought the food was great for bar food but I really thought my burger was absolutely delicious!! Love that they put stuffed jalapeños on top! I would definitely stop again if we are in the area.

Only 4 because it's so loud. Food was great. Place is so cute with an anti valentine menu. Hilarious! Staff were great.

We stopped in tonight for a quick drink after dinner. The owner was super sweet and adorable and made us feel so welcome. The salted caramel coffee martini was perfect and I'm pretty sure my husband finished his in about a minute, But the real reason for my 5 stars is the ladies restroom! So much attention to detail that you can tell the owners put their hearts into it. Go, get a salted caramel coffee martini and stop by the ladies on your way out. Old Ice House is an American fare, full service restaurant and bar located in downtown Durant with tons of history. Our building was an actual ice house and much of that character remains. Known for our burgers, tacos, Cuban sandwich and frozen house margarita, the Rocco-Rita.

History

Established in 2018.

We've been a cool place since 1927, which was when our building was constructed, and housed an actual ice house. The gantry crane, used to hoist ice blocks up and out of the building, still remains. Since then it has become the Old Ice House and is a full service restaurant and bar, and is just a really cool place for friends to gather in downtown Durant, OK.

Meet the Business Owner: Brian and Tascha B.

New owners, Brian and Tascha, wanted to create a cool place in Durant, OK for friends to hang out, eat and drink, while maintaining the integrity of the historic building that was once a true ice house. They are very connected to the Durant community and spend time volunteering and serving on several community boards. They own several other businesses in Durant which shows how invested they are in the town they call home. Their vision for Old Ice House was to create an experience for locals, and for those traveling through Durant. Old Ice House is located just north of The Big Peanut! Old Ice House is everything cool, from signature cocktails to Icebreakers appetizers. Even Rocco, the mascot is a cool penguin, not just a regular one.

Everyone else working there has been great but this shows how one person changes everything about your comfort level going into their business.

Excellent food, and a very large selection of craft beers from Oklahoma. The price is very reasonable for a pub style restaurant, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. I'd highly recommend Old Ice House to anyone looking for a good place to relax and listen to great music. They also have a large collection of vinyl LPs for sale. When I came by, there were many locals frequenting this restaurant. For me that says a lot! The chicken tacos with chips and salsa I ordered was exceptionally good.
