The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area. I could just see that there are several tables overlooking the golf course. On certain nights, they have live music. Great variety of drinks, appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, and entrees. Can go inexpensive, or can get a filet mignon and spent a lot. Filling choices. Prices are quite reasonable.

We went to Old Republic for the first time yesterday for lunch. We ordered the cheese curds which were exceptionally good. They were light and non greasy at all with amazing seasoning. I ordered the Stroganoff burger. The burger was very good however, I asked for it medium rare and it was more like medium well but it was tasty so I didn't complaint. The French fries are also very good. My only complaint was our server. Although he was very nice he was very flaky. When he came up to our table and asked what we wanted to drink he had to ask us what day it was in order to tell us the specials. Not a total big deal. We asked what the soup of the day was. He said, "uh salmon in a red you know uh stuff, broth, I think". I ordered a coke and my husband ordered lemonade. They are served in very small glasses. My husband had to stop a busser to ask for a refill because our server spent a lot of time standing at the bar chatting with the bartender. Same when we were done and waiting for our bill he left us sitting there for about 15 minutes talking to the bartender instead of checking on his tables. I would definitely go back as we didn't get terrible service but definitely could have been better. read more

This place is a Super Spreader for COVID. They have wall to wall, unmasked people packed onto their patio each weekend evening. This place is so unsafe. People will contract Covid here for sure. I'm not a COVID-19 panicky person, but walking into this place is dangerous. This place feels they don't have to follow Kane county health department guidelines. Food and drinks are just average and they are way overpriced. The owner is very unprofessional with his young staff. I know the man I saw yelling at a young host about not rolling silverware at the host station was definitely the owner. My waitress told me so. This poor young man host had been running around trying his best to get people seated on a busy Saturday afternoon, and this owner guy yelled at him about silverware??? What a jerk. So unprofessional, Mr. Owner. Not cool! Maybe you should invest in some restaurant managerial classes because you suck at it. You shouldn't treat your employees that way! Avoid applying here for a job and eating here. Let's support neighborhood businesses that treat their employees and customers well! read more

Placing an order for six people with various specifications, we were delighted that the staff effortlessly accommodated all our requests. During the pickup, they carefully checked each order, leaving me thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, with people clearly having a great time. Upon reaching home and unpacking our food, everything was still hot and incredibly tasty. Was a bit skeptical at first because I like knowing the "theme" of a place before I dine there, so I wasn't sure what to expect from the outside. I was pleasantly surprised to find a variety of food/drink options along with great daily specials if you're dining on a budget. We had the flaming cheese appetizer and burgers for dinner. Everything came out fast and tasted great. server was friendly and attentive. They're open pretty late too and a late night food spot is definitely something we need around the west Elgin area. I've been there numerous times, firstly the supervisors are one of the rudest people I came across in the food industry. He looked at me when I said table for 2 with a bad grin and rolling eyes. Not sure what his problem was. Now get to the food I had a hungover burger which I believe should be called get a heart attack burger. it was so greasy the buns were falling apart! Disappointing. It was hot inside and even hotter outside. Sweating while eating is not fun. Ended up eating outside just to get a wind breeze every 30 seconds or so. Food was regular. I won't be going back. Obviously you can't change the weather. How about turning up that AC for your paying customers so they can TRY and enjoy your boring food menu. Had high hopes but it seems like another run of the mill corporate style family tavern clone. Decor is cool, and muddled urban, but the food is on par with Chili's or Applebee's.
