RUN FOR THE HILLS!!! Mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake..... We just sold a property, and the buyer was using this title company. - My name on the closing documents was wrong. - They kept asking our realtor for documents that *we* needed to provide, but they never reached out to us even though they had our contact info. - They asked for documents to be submitted within a day, when it takes the mortgage company 2 -14 days to produce. - They didn't warn about including receipts during the closing process, so we were running around trying to collect all the info just a couple of hours before our deadline. - We filled out one of the forms wrong, and even though they knew what we were trying to accomplish (because we talked extensively about it) they filed it wrong and it's costing us $5000, that we are now trying to fix DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! read more

Great service at this particular branch, and not to mention located in a beautiful building where there's even a Pete's Coffee and Specialty's Cafe at the bottom level. The private rooms are spacious, and the employees are very kind and gracious. Most of our business transactions are set here, and they do try to make sure all the appropriate documents are completed quickly and efficiently. Dot all your i's and slash your t's type of thing. We always hope to carry on a cheery and respectful relationship with Oakland's Old Republic Title Company, because they're friendly and do deeply concern themselves with all of their client's special needs. Before I left for Korea, I had to sign documents at last moments notice, and they were very quick and non hesitant to provide the appropriate docs, and so I felt at ease, as I flew away to another country. When we were financing our house, one day somebody calls from old republic demanding that we bring in a couple thousand in cash, same day. It was not convenient at all but I got it together, rushed to their office and when I got there, I asked why they needed the money that day. She said " i want to close out my month." I wrote a letter to the manager about it and got no reply. So I called and she said " yeah I got your letter - what's the big deal?" read more

They're fine when they're working on the deal, but good luck getting anything resembling customer service afterwards. Was trying to get the legal description for a property that we bought a month ago, and our rep was super obtuse over email, and after weeks still refused to give the easiest piece of info. Frustrating, especially considering their competitors amazing customer service before, during and after a deal. FYI: I work for a real estate investment company, so we've got lots of experience working with the various title companies, and ORT has been unimpressive. read more

What a terrible experience with this title company!!! The escrow agent we had was ridiculous awful!! She made a big mistake, by not waiting the bank loan officers funding approval first, but take action to record it herself a day before. End up, everything went wrong, and we have to pay $4500.00 more for her company to fix the problem she made. She insteanded of apologize for the mistake she made, but blamed on us and the bank and said: " Had the funder ( the bank officer ) was not there on yesterday, we would not have this problem, and everyone wants to close thats why I had it close/record special yesterday. " I was like, are you serious???? WOW!!!! She is totally unprofessional, and that tittle company all their fees were way high and overcharged, anyhow. A $100.00 for the notary fees??!!! If you are thinking to sell your house or buy a new one, DO NOT go to the " Old Republic Title Company" located in Downtown Oakland!! Unless you want to deal with this kind of BS with them and pay more money. Don't want to give them any star, but since the one star was the worst they could get, then here you go!! I also gave them 4 thumps down ( inculing my toes ), and 2 middle fingers up!! read more
