    Veggie quiche with greens

I'm at Old Soul Co here in the Village and I want to say; this quiche moves me! It's not only the best I've ever had, I'd go so far as to say the best eggs I've ever put in my face! An excellent experience; the service, atmosphere, the food, the coffee all worth your time, money and local support! 10/10

Undrinkable iced mocha. This went straight into the trash after this photo.

I absolutely hate to leave bad reviews on local businesses but I had to throw out my entire iced mocha because of how bad it was, and this was not my first negative experience here. Iced mocha is my go-to drink when I'm not sure what to order because it's typically hard to mess up. This iced mocha was literally undrinkable, it was like they were trying to mix hot chocolate powder into cold milk. Took the first sip, got a little milk stopped by a chunk of powder (see pic). Took the straw out thinking that would help, but the next sip tasted like chunky, powdery milk. Tried stirring it up more with the straw, took another sip, more powder stuck in the straw. I ended up throwing the whole thing in the trash. My husband thought his iced vanilla latte was decent, but he's not picky at all so for him to not say it was "good" is pretty wild. The person who took our order was very nice, but we could hardly hear her/she could hardly hear us because the music was blasting. Not a huge deal, but it was pretty annoying having to repeat ourselves/asking her to repeat herself just to order two coffees. Such a bummer that this is what ended up here. I will not be back.

I absolutely love old soul and have been going to the downtown locations for years. It's great to have one in fair Oaks now. They've done a great job with the indoor and outdoor seating. The ambience has that old soul feel. Plants, earth tones, great coffee shop vibe. I ordered a breve latte and it was delicious. You can submit your music taste, and have it added to their playlist. I will definitely be coming back. Only downside I saw was that the tables were a little dirty. Probably need a little extra attention since most people bus their own tables.

Absolutely a wonderful overall first time visit experience this afternoon at this Old Soul location in Fair Oaks Village! I enjoyed the scrumptious TBA sandwich (turkey, bacon avocado, Swiss, tomato, beer mustard on crispy, crusty ciabatta bread with fresh green salad ( balsamic dressing and feta cheese) and dirty chai latte- wow, espresso shots put it over the top!! Service was welcoming, efficient and courteous. Knowing the stellar reputation of Old Soul, we chose this spot and were not disappointed! The relaxing, simple, functional polished wood tables and black metal chair decor inside carries thru with similar outdoor seating which we chose while enjoying fresh air as we viewed the bustling movement toward businesses in Fair Oaks Village. There are several Cafes in the village and Old Soul is a definite repeat visit'!

    Espresso, served simply

Admittedly, I've had one visit and a single drink, but I'm not understanding the reviews of this place so far. It was bustling on the day after Christmas around 9:30 in the morning, the staff were friendly and banging out drinks and food at a good clip. The space is fairly small but inviting, clean, and had plenty of seating options. After a quick chat with the order taker, I selected a straight espresso, their Remedy blend, which promises "refined berry-like acidity with a creamy thick body and a nice toasted nut and bakers chocolate finish", and it was exactly that. Served in a nice smoked glass double walled espresso cup, it definitely needed a little cooling before drinking, but once it was at a manageable temperature, I found it to have a velvety texture, definitely creamy and thick, with the berry acidity really on display. I've had espresso at a dozen places in the greater Sacramento area over the last four days, and this ranked among the top. I had a brief chat with the barista after the drink, and gave her my kudos for a simple drink well made. I'm familiar with the midtown Sacramento area Old Soul, but this one is a nice addition for folk over on this side of the "big city". Give it a try!

We came here on a rainy Sunday. I loved my seasonal pie spice latte just as they served it. The mocha was also good. You order at the counter and get a number. They bring your food to your table. The coffee and food came out quick. The burrito had a nice cheesy inside. We got the carnivore with bacon. The potatoes were a little under done. The inside is modern farmhouse with large windows to watch the people and rain.

$9.52 for a Pie Spice oat milk latte. Not worth the price tag.
    Bridget W.

I appreciate Old Soul coffee in general, but this experience wasn't a good one. I still taste the rip off after being charged $9.52 (before tip) for a Pie Spice latte with oat milk. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it was grossly overpriced for what tasted like an average latte with some cinnamon & nutmeg sprinkled on top. I like the location and the staff was friendly enough, but if they are upcharging this fierce in Fair Oaks Village they may very well end up the way of Bad Fish. Good luck, Old Soul, you're going to need it.

I have been a fan of Old Soul for years (all locations, especially 40 Acres and Weatherstone) and while I was a fan of the prior coffee shop Badfish, I am happy that I can get my Old Soul fix a lot closer to home. When we visited, it was bustling and most of the seats were already taken. It appears I'm not alone in being an Old Soul fan :) We got a couple biscuit sandwiches, a latte and a mocha. I really enjoyed my sandwich which had bacon, egg, tomatoes and onion. My sister got the smoked salmon that she liked, but not as much as I liked my sandwich. We also got the snickerdoodle cookie which was just okay. I will try other pastries on my future visits to see if I prefer other selections. Our coffee was solid. I love their lattes and their chai. I'm looking forward to their upcoming holiday drinks too. The barista who helped us gave great service. I recommend this spot if you're in the area.

I've been to all locations - GOOD FUCKING COFFEE vibes are chill , staff is cool , food is bomba!!! Their carnitas breakfast sando!!! 20/10 ! Put it in your mouth.‍

Two gallons of milk - with a little espresso added

So, I remember when Old Soul was actually good... not sure what's up now - but firstly I guess their lattes start at 16oz now (starbucksification) and even with all that extra milk - they could not hide that the beans were very obviously not dialed in. (Flavor was burnt and metallic - no discernible notes) The staff is friendly, and pastries are ok; but for a coffee shop to not be able to get a latte right (or a flat white I have gotten before that wasn't much better) is kind of sad. Very easily fixable by just dialing in the beans in the morning. Unfortunate.

Old soul in old fair oaks?!?! What! I usually have to get my fix in downtown Sacramento. I have been frequenting old soul for 9 or so years and I am a sucker for their hot mochas. Love that this location is here - old fair oaks is really getting a glow up. The weatherstone location will always be my tried and true but having this here is awesome. I was watching the employee bust out sandwiches and they looked mouth watering. Service was fast and friendly and I hope this location thrives.

A Great Breakfast Stop After a Hike in Auburn! We came here…read morefor breakfast during the week after a hike in Auburn. We had just finished the Lake Clementine/Dam hike and were very hungry afterward, so we headed into town and ended up at Mario's. First of all, Mario's is a very pretty space. I loved the black-and-white aesthetic and the simple but thoughtful décor. There's bar seating, booths, and tables both inside and outside. Parking is plentiful, so that's definitely not an issue. I started with a regular latte, while my cousin ordered a chai latte. My latte was beautiful and served in a very original, deep, low cup that I absolutely loved. It was delicious and just perfect. Unfortunately, the chai latte wasn't really to our liking. It didn't taste much like chai to us--it had a strong cinnamon flavor and a combination of flavors that made it difficult to tell exactly what we were drinking. So, the chai was definitely not our favorite. For breakfast, I ordered what I would call their breakfast sampler, with eggs, bacon, and hash browns, which also came with a portion of French toast. My cousin ordered their Monte Cristo sandwich. My eggs and hash browns were amazing, and there was plenty of bacon! I chose all bacon, and it was thick-cut, smoky, and cooked to perfection. The plates here are HUGE, and the portions are definitely abundant. My cousin's Monte Cristo was their lighter take on the classic. Instead of being deep-fried, their version is dipped in batter and cooked, which makes it a little less heavy. It looked beautiful and had plenty of ingredients inside, but for us, it was just okay. We've definitely had better Monte Cristo sandwiches. Now, the French toast... WOW. This was easily my favorite part of the meal. The bread had this delicious cinnamon-sugar coating on top that took it to another level. Add the soft, fluffy butter and maple syrup, and it was absolutely superb. That French toast alone would bring me back! I also appreciated the nice, cold ice water that was kept at our table throughout the meal. Service was super nice and pretty quick, especially considering how busy they were. I also loved how many options they give you to customize your meal. I could choose between different types of bacon, sausage, or turkey, and my cousin was able to customize her sandwich and ended up choosing cottage cheese to go with a healthier, higher-protein option. They also have sweet potato fries, regular fries, and plenty of other sides that you can substitute depending on what you're looking for. The ambiance was great, everything was clean and well maintained, and even the bathrooms were in good condition. Overall, this was a very good breakfast experience. Not everything was a home run for us, but the service, atmosphere, generous portions, customization options, and especially that French toast made it a place I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area. And after a hike? Even better!

I picked up my drink across where I ordered and then I picked up my food from a separate place when the device they gave me buzzed. Inspires me to make chia seed pudding at home. * Hot earl grey creme tea $4 - I added honey. Perfect balance of citrus and black tea flavors. Came in a big paper cup, but had the option of having it in a tea pot and pouring it myself. Note they have a card surcharge of 2.9%. I was able to find a comfy seat with a round table. There were a lot of people but still enough seating and not too loud inside. The music was relaxing. Loved all the natural light and cozy, earthy vibes. For fellow matcha lovers, I saw a sign they use Mizuba matcha. It was already late afternoon and I had a matcha latte earlier so I chose not to get a matcha latte. If I'm around the area and come back soon though, I'd love to try their seasonal summer offering of the coconut matcha cloud. They also had a pastry case next to the register. The savory items sounded great too, so there's lots of items I'm interested in trying from here. Would recommend if you're looking for a nice, spacious cafe to relax or do some work!

The cutesy charm of the surroundings extended to Fair Oaks Brew Pub itself. Greeted as soon as we walked up, we chose to sit out in their inviting patio area on a perfect Spring day. Our server was along shortly. She was friendly, helpful, & the right amount of attentive. For brew pub fare, we both chose the Risky Burger. Essentially a Western bacon BBQ variation of their regular cheeseburger. Sides were upgraded to onion rings. For the brew, I got their Chicken Foot Pale Ale. Everything was up before long. The Risky Burger was outstanding. Crispy bacon, tasty onion rings (in the burger, as well as on the side), gooey melted cheese, & a perfectly cooked patty just juicy enough to turn the last bite or 2 of the whole burger into a bit of a mess. The Chicken Foot Pale Ale was decent for style, though a little old school in terms of recipe/ malts/ hops. Still, a refreshing pairing for the Risky Burger. All in all, Fair Oaks Brew Pub was a great spot to grab a bite & a beer in an unexpectedly scenic pocket of suburbia.

The server that seated me brought my coffee, but she didn't bring me any creamer. I didn't catch it at first, until she brought me my coffee, and I noticed there was none on the table When a different server came to take my order, she spoke hardly any English. When I asked her for the steak omelette, she understood that part, but when I said what I wanted with the omelette, plus when I started to ask for creamer in my coffee, she just looked at me, kind of confused, obviously, she didn't understand, she went to get another server who came back in a couple of minutes I asked, and she brought me creamer for my coffee. I put in my order, asking for fruit instead of potatoes, and my toast with the butter on the side. My food comes quickly, except for my toast. She says, I will bring you your toast. I was halfway through my meal, and I still didn't have my toast. My server walked by, and before I could say anything, she looked at me, and said, "oh, let me get you your toast." the toast came, and instead of having the butter on the side, it was *SLATHERED* with butter. Not only that, but the toast was overdone, and it tasted burnt in some spots. It took so long to get it the first time, I didn't bother asking them to redo it. The steak omelette itself just wasn't as good this time. They were generous with the fillings, but the steak was pretty chewy, and it just didn't taste very good. It had some kind of an aftertaste. Not only that, the roasted jalapeño that I had last time, it's obvious that it only kissed the grill for a few seconds. I took one bite, and it was way too spicy for me. I could tell that it had hardly been cooked at all. The coffee was OK, and the fruit was very good and very fresh. The fruit, and the politeness of everybody saved this from being a two star review. Again, the price was reasonable, and they do offer the military/veterans discount, but the breakfast just wasn't as good this time. I don't think I will be back again. There's plenty of other places that I can go to. Thanks anyway.

The Nutella crepe was also very good. The crepe itself was perfectly made, though there was a little more Nutella than I personally prefer. Next time I'll probably ask for less, but that's purely a matter of taste. The avocado toast was the only item that didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was good, but the honey flavor dominated the dish and drowned out some of the other ingredients. I'd love to taste a little more balance there. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made for a great breakfast. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be dreaming about that croissant until then.

We used to love Julian's and have been coming in for 10+ years. The food is still good, but the…read moreservice has gotten worse. The staff are frequently rude and the service is slow. If you're bold enough to ask staff about the status of your order, they are rude and basically tell you to deal with the delay. On one of our last visits, they messed up my drink and when I told them, they didn't trust that I was telling the truth. They insisted I find the order number so they could confirm I was telling the truth and that "they didn't undercharge me for the drink". Real nice. If you're in this part of town, I'd skip this place and go a couple doors down to the Coffee Republic instead.
