A Great Breakfast Stop After a Hike in Auburn! We came here for breakfast during the week after a hike in Auburn. We had just finished the Lake Clementine/Dam hike and were very hungry afterward, so we headed into town and ended up at Mario's. First of all, Mario's is a very pretty space. I loved the black-and-white aesthetic and the simple but thoughtful décor. There's bar seating, booths, and tables both inside and outside. Parking is plentiful, so that's definitely not an issue. I started with a regular latte, while my cousin ordered a chai latte. My latte was beautiful and served in a very original, deep, low cup that I absolutely loved. It was delicious and just perfect. Unfortunately, the chai latte wasn't really to our liking. It didn't taste much like chai to us--it had a strong cinnamon flavor and a combination of flavors that made it difficult to tell exactly what we were drinking. So, the chai was definitely not our favorite. For breakfast, I ordered what I would call their breakfast sampler, with eggs, bacon, and hash browns, which also came with a portion of French toast. My cousin ordered their Monte Cristo sandwich. My eggs and hash browns were amazing, and there was plenty of bacon! I chose all bacon, and it was thick-cut, smoky, and cooked to perfection. The plates here are HUGE, and the portions are definitely abundant. My cousin's Monte Cristo was their lighter take on the classic. Instead of being deep-fried, their version is dipped in batter and cooked, which makes it a little less heavy. It looked beautiful and had plenty of ingredients inside, but for us, it was just okay. We've definitely had better Monte Cristo sandwiches. Now, the French toast... WOW. This was easily my favorite part of the meal. The bread had this delicious cinnamon-sugar coating on top that took it to another level. Add the soft, fluffy butter and maple syrup, and it was absolutely superb. That French toast alone would bring me back! I also appreciated the nice, cold ice water that was kept at our table throughout the meal. Service was super nice and pretty quick, especially considering how busy they were. I also loved how many options they give you to customize your meal. I could choose between different types of bacon, sausage, or turkey, and my cousin was able to customize her sandwich and ended up choosing cottage cheese to go with a healthier, higher-protein option. They also have sweet potato fries, regular fries, and plenty of other sides that you can substitute depending on what you're looking for. The ambiance was great, everything was clean and well maintained, and even the bathrooms were in good condition. Overall, this was a very good breakfast experience. Not everything was a home run for us, but the service, atmosphere, generous portions, customization options, and especially that French toast made it a place I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area. This is a nice place to hit for brunch. They have typical breakfast items but also some lunch items. There's seating & outdoors. I prefer the outdoors on the patio. The only thing is they should have one for bigger parties. We were going to be seated with a chair at the end of the table which would block the walkway. We asked if we can another table and they had to clear one that was for a party of six. Carla, our waitress is nice and our food came out quickly. This is second time I'm here. Other family members have not been here and they enjoyed the food. They all had left overs. We ordered the following for our visit. Steak and eggs Loco Moco Pacific Omelette Lox & Bagel Perfect combo Iced Chai Hot chocolate I was so full from my Lox, but I de used to taste the waffle and it was soo good! Love this place but just had one of the worst meals (to-go). Going on a hunch that I arrived before the main cook on Father's Day morning today. Server was great today hence 2 stars not 1 for this visit). Generally everything here is phenomenal, & worthy of recommendation. This last order was an absolute grease bomb (gross, filmy, make you run to the bathroom). I had the Chilaquiles del chef (typically a slab of carne comes a top the chips rice and beans - today I received a third of that - pictured). Wife had the Sofia crepes, not sure if the oil was in the batter or cooked with but this was probably the worst. Inedible and sent both of us directly to the bathroom. Bacon, sausages and potatoes seemed to be deep fried.. more gross oil. Again, we love this place but this was so bad I had to review. This review reflects my experience at this location. The staff were courteous and kind, but the food took a long time to arrive and had no flavor whatsoever. I ordered the veggie omelette, which was packed with giant chunks of raw, crunchy zucchini. The zucchini released so much water that the omelette was soggy and unpleasant. My mother didn't enjoy her meal either. The one star is entirely due to what happened next. While eating, I suddenly bit down on something tough and unfamiliar. I almost swallowed it--thank goodness I didn't. When I pulled it out of my mouth, I was horrified to find a long piece of plastic embedded in the omelette. I was genuinely shaken thinking about what could have happened if I had swallowed that sharp, slim piece of plastic. That is not a minor mistake; that is a serious food safety failure. If a restaurant cannot grasp that incidents like this directly endanger people's health, then I cannot return--no matter how kind the staff may be. And considering the food was mediocre to begin with, I'm staying far away from Mario's Early Toast. "Early toast" should never come with the risk of a trip to the ER with an "Early Grave"!!! read more

I ate here a few weeks back with my mother and my sister. My mother loved her clam chowder. They gave her the big bowl. She didn't know they offer two sizes. It would've been nice if she was told beforehand, but I think she ate the entire bowl so no worries there. My sister and I got the chicken "Wish I could Fly" sandwich and had a salad for the side. The sandwich was tasty. Major gripe, and I hate when restaurants do this (even food critics have slammed this practice), please offer a normal sized plate. Next time I will ask, but it's really annoying having a small tray and it's super hard to eat when you've got a small tray. It just doesn't work lol. They. have a patio overlooking the parking lot. Really solid brunch spot in the Folsom area! I'm surprised I haven't been here sooner. Despite being pretty busy for a Monday morning, they got our table seated right away. They had cute little kids menus folded up with crayon packs which was a huge plus. They had a pretty good kids meal selection too, and my son enjoyed the Mickey Mouse pancakes! Our server was awesome, I wish I caught his name! Really polite and friendly, and happy to accommodate any requests we had. I really enjoyed my crab cake benedict. The crab cake was moist and still crispy on the exterior, good amount of hollandaise, and a properly poached egg. I appreciated the fact that they offered different options for sides, like roasted potatoes, hash browns, or rice. The hash browns were a nice pairing with the hollandaise from my eggs benedict! I also wanted to try the Truckee French toast which seemed to be a favorite on the menu description. The exterior was nice and crisp but otherwise nothing too unique in flavor - just a nicely made French toast. The half order was perfect for our table to share. I would probably go for 4.5 stars but the matcha latte was just not happening for me. The color immediately gave away the quality and lack of matcha used in the drink! But it was nice of the server to adjust the vanilla sweetener for us when we ordered, otherwise I'd probably just stay away from the matcha drinks here! Stopped in at Mario's Early Toast with the family after a suggestion, from a friend who lives in the Folsom area. We had been looking for a good breakfast spot im the area and had come across Mario's first, and the recommendation sealed the decision. After arriving we immediately noticed the Hoildy decord and Santa statue at the front entrance. After being quicklu greeted we were promptly escorted to the upper level dinning area, where there was a bar. But it was a little cold up there, so after sitting for a couple of minutes, we asked to be seated downstairs to which our waitress happily obliged. Once downstairs we took a little more time to look through the large options on the menu, and ended up deciding on the following items: Drinks: Hot chocolate Main courses: The Perfect Combo (x2) Protein waffles Belgium waffle with bananas & pecans Acai bowl Battered French toast with Nutella The meals with surprisingly large, which is not a bad thing at all; we all were definitely pleasantly surprised. The only mis which was due to not really understanding what the dish was, was on thr Battered French Toast with Nutells that my son ordered. He was under the impression that it was standard French Toast with Nutells, and not a heavily deep fried dessert type of dish. Because on top of it being deep fried, and being collered in Nutella, it's all a big dish of 4 very large deep fried pieces, and is also served with whipped cream. We however did look at the dishes description and then realized it does say the French Toast is "battered" so we watered realized it obviously deep fried. When we mentioned our confusion on the dish, our waitress did reiterate that it is a large dish, and that she almost mentioned that it's typically a dish recommended for multiple people, and not one person. Ultimately due to how that particular dish is more of a dessert and not a breakfast, and how heavily fried and full of sugar. And the fact he'd already had a hot chocolate before any of our dishes arrived. My son just couldn't finish it and maybe ate one full piece of French Toast and took the rest home. The matcha color wasn't very vibrant, which kind of threw me off that it wouldn't be very strong or fresh tasting, and that ended up being the case. For food, I ordered the crab Benedict, which wasn't the best. The crispy potatoes were definitely the highlight. Super tasty, but I wish the plate had more potatoes and fewer bell peppers and veggies. Everyone who works there was very friendly and helpful, and they all look like they like working there. We ordered Americanos while we waited for our food -- perfect. We both ordered the Perfecto omelette, and, when I asked for server Alejandro's recommendation regarding the potatoes, he suggested the house potatoes "crispy." And, omg, that's exactly how you want them. Delicious. The omelette was also great, and the sourdough toast was just right. The portions are very generous. I was actually pretty impressed with this place. We live so close and passed by many times and finally decided to try it out. Staff is friendly the place is cute. I loved the fried steak it was delicious I forgot what my gf got some sort of scramble but it was also delicious the portions are generous! Mine came with a biscuit and it was so good warm and soft I would go back just for the biscuit lol I even had my first espresso martini and it was so good! The French toast was a perfect amount of crisp and soft and never got soggy it was so good! I definitely would dine here again I took one star off because we were sat in a booth (which was fine) however all the blinds were closed and except for the window by us so all the flies inside were attracted to that one window so we were constantly fighting flies. Tried this location for the first time today and I was great. Last time I was at this place it was a sushi restaurant...but now it is a multi level breakfast spot. Love the decor and especially the artwork. The menu is extensive so it's hard to choose! I went with the smoked salmon avocado toast, it's very generous with two slices of sourdough, two eggs plus the salmon. I didn't realize the salmon was going to be cooked, that was a little weird but it was still good. Only thing I didn't like was the plate. Looks like it was made for Instagram and not for eating. I decided to do the "ground turkey, fitness skillet", with egg whites, ground, turkey, spinach, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini topped with tomato slices. Instead of bread, it came with a very nice cup of fresh fruit. The food came quick, and it was still hot when it got to me. The meal was pretty good, but not compared to what I've had here before. The veggies had a good flavor, I loved The pop of freshness that the tomato brought, the eggs were good,, but the ground turkey itself was kind of bland. I know that's the nature of ground turkey, but you think they could've seasoned it up a little bit better before it left the restaurant. A little bit of salt and pepper on my end did help. My hubby brought me here for brunch on a Sunday. It's usually busy but you can call ahead when you're 20 mins out to get on the waiting list. Once we parked the car and I walked inside the table was ready. It was perfect. Now let's get into the meal.... 12.31.2025 - MARIO'S EARLY TOAST - FOLSOM, CA - my last breakfast of the year - I ordered the loco moco and it was delicious. Over medium eggs and medium beef patty. The gravy was a mushroom gravy topped the eggs with green onions and pineapple slice. Everything was good. I didn't eat the pineapple slice as that is a strange combination to me. I didn't even taste it to literally experience it. I can't make myself to do it as I never ate it this way in my life. The waitress was extremely helpful. I'm a cheap-ads. But I gave her a large tip anyway cause the loco Moco was good. Minus the pineapple. What's a local girl from Hawaii that has a pineapple slice on your loco moco? I don't indulge. After Church today the wife and I had some errands to run and so being that we were both hungry, we decided to try Marios Early Toast. As we walked into the restaurant, we noticed the decor since it was Christmas was all Christmas based. We got sat down at a table for 2 people and the atmosphere was warm and very welcoming. My wife got a Pepsi and I got a Coffee as it was morning time and I hadnt had my daily cup of coffee yet. About 3 minutes later our drinks came and then our waitress had asked about the food and if we knew about what we wanted to eat. So I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy (After trying a side of the gravy and it being the most creamiest gravy I've ever had, without pepper in it), and my wife ordered a Breakfast Sandwich. At about 5 to 10 minutes later our food came and my side of the biscuits and gravy was scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausage w/2 Pieces of bacon. My food from beginning to end was delicious however, the biscuit was a bit tough as if you were eating day old stale bread. But my eggs, my sausage, my potatoes and my bacon were all delicious. My wife said that her breakfast sandwich was also ver delicious as well. As a staple to being a good place to eat Breakfast / Brunch at, I most certainly will do that again. So far after moving to Folsom and trying another place that we will most certainly revisit, I see a trend on restaurants in the area all being great food. On top was a buttery caramel sauce, whipped cream, and peaches. I just wish that the peaches were fresh and not canned but I can't complain. Overall, it was a very sweet treat! Basically a dessert. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. It comes with a side of potatoes?!? We got the home style potatoes for our side choice. This was a nice way to balance the sweetness. Also, ranch is free here. YES. For our savory entree we decided to go with the Rocklin omelette which came with pieces of steak, cheese, wrapped in a fluffy omelette outside, and topped with hollandaise sauce! It came with another side option so we went with hash browns and we got a slice of buttered toast too! Let me tell you, the culmination of the toast, hash browns, ranch, and The Omelette was amazing! Met up with a couple of friends at Mario's for breakfast. I had the Breakfast Sandwich which consists of scrambled eggs, jack and cheddar cheese, tomatoes, avocado, bacon, ham and sour cream on grilled sourdough bread. I ordered mine with the included hash browns. It's a big sandwich and it is tasty, but it was a tiny bit dry and definitely could've used a bit more sour cream to moisten it up a little. I've been here before for breakfast on a weekday, and they have been busy each time, but still the food comes out in a timely manner. Our server was pretty attentive, but my small water glass emptied pretty quickly and I had to ask for a refills. We were in the upstairs room where s large work celebration was being held and it was loud. After the party of (at least) 16 left, it was very pleasant and much quieter. Late review from my visit on 10/19/25, but wanted to share! This was my first time at Mario's Early Toast (Folsom location), meeting a group of six friends for a get-together. I was excited to try a new spot with gluten-free options since their menu had several that caught my eye. At our table, we had a mix of dishes--a friend ordered the breakfast rice, another got a breakfast sandwich, someone else had the Folsom omelette, and two of us who are gluten-free ordered the Perfect Combo with gluten-free waffles and sausage patties. The sausage patties, breakfast potatoes, and eggs were all cooked well and delicious. However, the gluten-free waffles were cold, very dry, and lacked flavor, even though I had ordered the Maui flavor. Definitely disappointing. Our server, though, was amazing--super accommodating, attentive to our large group, and quick to help. When we shared the issue with the waffles, she immediately replaced them with gluten-free pancakes, which were much better in both texture and flavor. We also tried their special fall coffees, which were a highlight. I ordered the apple-flavored one (so good!), and my friend tried the black & white. Overall, we had a great time catching up, and the service was truly wonderful. Definitely my favorite place for breakfast these days! The food is great and the portions are large. Servers are always very kind. My default order is the California Benedict. Lots of thick bacon, avocado and tomato with hollandaise sauce on a really good English muffin. Plenty of potatoes on the side. The only problem is that it's so popular and so good it's usually very crowded so there may be a wait and trouble finding a spot to park! A few times we left the Rocklin location and had better luck at Granite Bay. Maybe Mario will open a Newcastle location someday! ;) read more

Very disappointing. Ordered Eggs Benedict. The muffin was not toasted, not proper muffin for Benedict's, Hollander needs work, and the plate was all served warm, not hot. Ownership needs to visit this location and instruct/observe the cooking process awa getting food to table as soon as supplied. Food is great But I had the worst experience We requested to move inside it was chilly outside usually the waitress will bring whatever on table which was just coffee to new table so I had taken it myself when we went to the third floor I fell!! No one came to check on me they knew I fell cause I spilled coffee but they didn't acknowledge my fall a nurse came by and checked on me she was a customer and seen me fall. But no employee came by I'm 73 too!! I had called to acknowledge the matter for the owner to call me the manager said she would but I didn't have a call back I'm from Hawaii and the aloha spirit wasn't there and I understand the owner is part Hawaiian But hey a hui ho which will be never for now early toast. This is our favorite breakfast place in Folsom and we always bring guests. The portions are huge- I always save half for the next day. There is plenty of indoor seating and the staff are friendly. Great French toast and eggs Benedict. read more
