While in the area visiting a lifelong friend (since 4th grade) on a Friday afternoon, we decided to grab some lunch while catching up. I mentioned Fair Oaks Brew Pub as an option I found on Yelp &, as a local, he said it was a great choice. We almost immediately scored street parking only a few doors down. I'd never been to Old Fair Oaks Village before. Looking around, the little town center was more reminiscent of a historic gold country town up in the foothills than Sacramento suburban sprawl. The cutesy charm of the surroundings extended to Fair Oaks Brew Pub itself. Greeted as soon as we walked up, we chose to sit out in their inviting patio area on a perfect Spring day. Our server was along shortly. She was friendly, helpful, & the right amount of attentive. For brew pub fare, we both chose the Risky Burger. Essentially a Western bacon BBQ variation of their regular cheeseburger. Sides were upgraded to onion rings. For the brew, I got their Chicken Foot Pale Ale. Everything was up before long. The Risky Burger was outstanding. Crispy bacon, tasty onion rings (in the burger, as well as on the side), gooey melted cheese, & a perfectly cooked patty just juicy enough to turn the last bite or 2 of the whole burger into a bit of a mess. The Chicken Foot Pale Ale was decent for style, though a little old school in terms of recipe/ malts/ hops. Still, a refreshing pairing for the Risky Burger. All in all, Fair Oaks Brew Pub was a great spot to grab a bite & a beer in an unexpectedly scenic pocket of suburbia. read more

Unfortunately, the service really missed the mark. Our server came to the table once to take our order and then never returned to check on us. We weren't asked if we needed refills, how our food was, or if everything came out correctly. At one point, I had to get up and go to the bar myself just to order another drink, which definitely took away from the overall experience. It felt like we were completely forgotten. For background, I first visited Fair Oaks Brew Pub after moving to the area in 2015. I'm not a regular, but I probably eat here about 5-8 times a year. In the beginning, it's was great. I liked the decor, the outdoor seating is lovely during those perfect Sacramento sunny days (even in the heat of summer with the fans and misters), and the food was decent. The last 1-2 years have been when I noticed a decline. They briefly had a brunch menu, which was so good! It went away, but I get if the numbers aren't there it had to be cut. However, the menu is quite limited now, but I understand the benefit of focusing on only a few dishes per menu category during certain times of day. Today was my third time coming to Fair Oaks Brew Pub and have had a poor experience. This time was the most disappointing, so I'm leaving a review with the hope for improvement. My main problem with today's experience - the service. It was only myself and my five year old daughter for a "mom/daughter day out." We sat down, it took about 7-10 minutes for a server to come over with a menu and waters. I watched other people who were sat after us receive menus and water within the first 3 minutes. I told myself, "maybe the server is busy or didn't know we were back here." When the server came by, she was kind enough to check on the ingredients for one of the menu items. For food I ordered a side of fries, a side salad, and veggie potstickers. For drinks I ordered an orange juice and a coffee. The server brings out the drinks first. Later, another person brings the fries along with two small plates and two square napkins. The server does a quick walk by our table to ask how things are and that is the last time she comes over to our table for the rest of the time we're there. The potstickers are next and then the side salad. No utensils are brought by. While I wait to see if the server comes back, I focus on the finger food and take a bite of the potstickers and was concerned that maybe the wrong ones were brought out, because there didn't appear to be veggies inside but meat. However, the server never comes back, so I can't ask for a fork for the salad or about the food. Eventually, a server for another table walks by and I flag her down and ask if I can have a fork. She brings over two sets of utensils and I'm able ask her about the potstickers. She says they put tofu inside and then leaves. I know some pretty incredible things can be done with tofu, but the filling really looked like the fried beef. I decided to leave them for my daughter, but she didn't care for the taste. Since there wasn't much else on the menu, I figured it was time to go. Again, our server doesn't come by, so it's a bit of a wait until I flag down the owner/manager who happens to be walking by to pay. I get it, I'm not their target clientele. I don't drink, have dietary restrictions, and the food isn't meant for kids. But in this economy, can the service at least be friendly and attentive? Where I walk away feeling, "well at least my business is appreciated." I didn't. I haven't felt welcome there for a while. Overall, it was a disappointing experience (further impacted by the two men who sat next to us and decided to drop f-bombs throughout their conversation) and hopefully it won't be repeated for future customers. This place is really special to Fair Oaks Village and I hope others have a better experience. read more

Ok when you think of pub food, you don't really think of good quality fresh food. LET ME TELL YOU. This place is not that! It was too good! I had the best bbq burger IN MY LIFE. We also ordered the garlic fries and they were 10/10. The garlic wasn't over zealous and they fries themselves were crunchy. While they had your typical pizza and burgers on the menu, I was surprised to see they also offered sushi. We had the pepperfin sashimi and we liked it! The sauce was nice and tart. The queen tangerine is my new fave beer, give it a try! All the servers were very attentive, we were asked by 4 different people if we had been helped yet, we ordered with one person, and closed out with another. I'll be back! read more

Outdoor seating area which is great for kids to be able to walk around if they need to. Indoors has more of a pub/brewhouse vibe, but still cozy and friendly. Staff is friendly and courteous, helpful and professional. No parking attached - all street parking or in the FO Village area. Food is decent plenty of American/burger/gastropub type choices. Went here with my friends on a Monday night, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. Fair Oaks Brew Pub in Old Fair Oaks Village is an absolute gem. I had one of the best burgers I've had in a long time juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The orange tangerine beer was bright and refreshing, a perfect pairing, and the warm buttery pretzel with the various dipping sauces was pure comfort food done right. Add in the relaxed, welcoming vibe of Old Fair Oaks Village and friendly service, and this place is a must-visit whether you're local or just passing through. Went for drinks this evening with friends and the staff were so friendly. Service was fast and they were great about refilling our water and taking our drink order. The space was perfect. Even though it was 90, the fans with misters and the copious umbrellas made it very pleasant to sit outside. The staff are so friendly that this is a go-to spot when I'm in the area. Stopped in here a little while ago with my wife. We got the figgy pizza and a pretzel to share out on the patio. The pizza was pretty good - nothing amazing - and the pretzel was good with the different dipping sauces. We did enjoy the outside atmosphere and ambiance at that time of the year. Service was lacking for sure. Took quite a while to get a server over to take our order and even longer for the simple draft beers to arrive. Decided to try this restaurant again. Nice atmosphere and food although limited it was good. The problem I've had both times is that one meal comes out and the other persons meal takes 20-30 minutes. I don't understand that but it's a big problem each time if went to establishment. My friend had chicken sandwich and I had a burger. My burger too 20 -30 minutes after chicken salad was served. Stopped in before noon on a Saturday and the place was modestly busy. Sat on the patio to enjoy the day and within 30 minutes, it was packed. Service was excellent, but the food was cold, uninspiring and represented what can be found virtually anywhere. The patio vibe was great, but nothing else about this place is enough to return. Plus, it's expensive and they charge a fee for using a credit card. I really, really hate paying a fee for using a credit card, especially when there doesn't appear to be any notice that they do, until you get the bill after it has been applied. The service from the server was good, but it was another staff member who decided to slip a "reserved" sign on our outdoor patio table without saying anything. Not acknowledging our group or even letting us know not to rush. Basically acting like she was so busy on her ipad and couldn't be bothered. It was weekday at 6pm so I could see it getting busier later in the night. However, I've been to other establishments where they were more personable and would at least take a few seconds to explain why a reserved sign was placed on out in the middle of us finishing drinks. So after we paid our bill and still tipped at least 20% guess we had to down our drinks and cut our conversations short. I'm going with acceptable and **** - the place was crazy crowded on a Friday night that saw guests eager to get fed before events at the theatres across the street (and what looked like a neighborhood Friday night crowd in the bar). Servers were top tier - kitchen turnaround was quite slow, perhaps because they didn't anticipate the crowd. My friend and I each ordered the pulled pork sandwich on a ciabatta roll that was actually maybe 3" square (I had been eyeing the food next table over that had sandwiches delivered on rolls that were easily twice that size (expectation vs reality). My serving of pulled pork had entirely too much of the inedible nasty fatty bits in it so I asked for a little more pork and it was graciously delivered. The cole slaw and BBQ sauce were on point. Interestingly, the root beer float is delivered in a mason jar mug that clearly cannot hold the contents, so I also asked for a big ol' tumbler and dumped it into that. Cutesy vs functional. As noted, the servers were attentive and responsive in spite of delays in the kitchen. That elevated the experience for me from 3 to 4 stars. read more

Amazing spot in old Fair Oaks Village for a pint and a good meal with relaxed service, shaded patio and sushi on the weekend. We've made this spot a regular date night. I'm currently loving the strawberry lambic or pineapple cider along with the beet and burrata salad. My husband enjoys a new craft beer each time we go, and loves the sushi rolls and nigiri. The burger is tasty, the pretzel is satisfying, my mother-in-law really liked the brats when she came with us. Basically, we haven't had a thing we didn't care for. The atmosphere on the patio is fun, I deff like the vibes it is very relaxing. They have a pretty good menu, I ordered the sushi (yellowtail sashimi, and poke bowl) and my mom ordered a sushi roll as well. Both our sushi orders came out like 20/30 min after my dad and fiancé's order. So they ate their food and then we didn't get our food until well after they had already finished eating and we had to ask again about where it was. Food is mediocre. Service is habitually unreliable. Ambiance is ok but outdoor umbrellas could sure use some lights inside of them so people can read the stupid menus. Menus were crinkly and dirty. This just feels like an establishment that's been around and has their regulars and doesn't try hard to change their menu or bring you anything interesting. The owners are around, but they don't see how absent minded the service is and how much trouble people have reading the menus at night. It's just not worth it. I'd rather spend my money somewhere else in the village. Hopefully they'll be another decent restaurant or brewery come to town in the same price range. This one is tired. read more

We sat on the patio and unfortunately had the worst service we have had in years. No refills, no napkins, nobody took our order until we finally flagged them down, and we had to get up multiple times to go grab things off the service counter or go to the bar for iced tea refills. And then the food arrived.... The sashimi was so thin you could actually see through it, and the cavatappi Mac n cheese had no more than 8 noodles in it. Everyone at the table got 2 single noodles. I was a server for 10 years and have A LOT of understanding when it comes to service, so it takes a lot for me to be upset by poor service/bad food. read more

Mehhh. This was my second time at fair oaks brew pub, and I think it was just OK. For two people including tip, we spent $100. Two entrees, a pretzel for app, a salad to split, and two beers. Honestly, seemed a little steep for the quality of food we got. The pretzel came out hot and fast which was great, but the beer cheese was kind of bland, and the mustards it came with tasted like they came out of a bottle-- nothing special. This is typically one of our favorite things to order when we go out so we were disappointed. We got the beet and burrata salad, and this salad and the ingredients had potential, but presentation was lacking. The salad came out as a bed of spring mix lettuce with the toppings kind of piled on top in sections. It didn't come tossed in the dressing and the plate was overfilled with the spring mix so It was hard to mix the salad ourselves at the table without spilling some of the toppings off the plate. We didn't ask for the dressing on the side, and as someone who used to work in a kitchen, the presentation just came off lazy, and we were there during normal dinner hours. My husband and I both got burgers and they weren't bad. But the burger patty didnt cover the whole ciabatta roll. They were circle shaped (hopefully not frozen patties), again more effort could have gone into the presentation. I just felt like there was more to be desired since the patty didn't go as far as all the bread did. The garlic fries we got with the burgers were good. I would come back for a drink after a trip to the river or nearby shopping area, but not sure id come back for the food alone. The patio is cute and has great vibes, service was decent-- there was only one server that really stood out to me because of how attentive she was but she wasn't even our server. This seems like a popular place because every time I go, the outside patio is packed. The menu is eclectic for sure - pub fare meets Japanese sushi restaurant. I have eaten here twice now and I'm just not wowed by the offerings. First time I tried the pub offerings and the second the sushi offerings. I was blown out the water or very impressed. Nothing seemed super fresh, the flavors were bland, and presentation was okay. Service is hit or miss - on the patio it was attentive. When I sat inside I had to ask the bartender to have the wait staff come to the table and after that we had a new about five different staff members waiting on us and we still had to ask for utensils and napkins. Trust me, it will change your life. One of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. #1 favorite dish of the night for sure - Queens Pizza - I ordered this on my second visit because I wanted something a little lighter. Very solid Margarita pizza. Perfect amount of cheese. I like that the marinara sauce was a little rustic and had chunks of tomato in it. You know that it was made with quality ingredients. - Salmon roll - very good - Poke salad - this was the only thing I didn't like. Way too much seaweed to poke ratio. I felt like I was only eating seaweed, and the seaweed was obviously dyed green. The atmosphere is also amazing outside. They have lots of shade and fans blowing mist. There are normal dining tables, high-tops, and lower lounge seating available. If you are going on the weekend, I recommend getting there by 5/5:30 at the latest. By 6pm the outside area is completely full and the wait time is about 1.5 hours. The only critique I have is when the food comes out. They bring it out as it is ready, meaning not everything comes out at the same time. My husband ordered pizza and I ordered sushi. My sushi came out about 30 minutes after my husband's pizza. Wow, I would say this restaurant was unexpected. I came here for dinner with my coworkers and it was actually much better sushi than what I expected from a very Western-style restaurant. I ordered the salmon roll and it was unexpectedly good! My coworkers also said their rolls were fantastic. I didn't try the alcohol stuff but some of my coworkers ordered up to 3 cups so I bet it was good. The appetizers were also very good. I came here on a recommendation from a woman I was getting to know. That was my first mistake. I don't know how this place has a 4.2 Yelp rating. I'm guessing that the people of Fair Oaks never got their taste buds back from covid, thus the 4.2 star rating. Ordered appetizer (pot stickers) and a pizza. Pizza came out, appetizers never did. Had to remind the server that our appetizer never showed up. The tables are pretty close together, which is fine. However, the owner came over and stuck his butt in my face while I was eating and carried on a conversation with the table next to us. Here's some free advice. People don't want your A$$ in their face while they're eating. All and all, I wasted $52 on the experience and will not be returning nor will there be a 2nd date. read more

Located in the cozy Fair Oaks Village, it has a great location and an awesome venue for food, drinks, and visiting with friends and family. They have a very nice patio which I imagine is packed when the weather is nice. We visited on a cold evening and they had a fire pit going. We were greeted as soon as we came in. The staff was friendly and sat our table immediately. The bar area is cozy, but the restaurant overall was much bigger than I expected. You could probably host a fairly large group here. Their drinks were excellent and the food was good. It's an eclectic menu that doesn't stick to one cuisine. I enjoyed the fig pig goat pizza the most out of all the dishes we ordered. I also thought their raspberry lemon drop was particularly good. The Mac and cheese sauce was a little watery, so that wasn't my favorite. Th potstickers were fine but are likely fried from frozen. Beet and arugula salad was pretty good. Overall, it's a great neighborhood spot, and I'm sure we'll be back when we're in the area again. read more
