We are in NSB once or twice a year and have our regular favorite plavrs to eat while there. We added Mermaid Cafe this time because we it was so cute and walkable. We had a nice breakfast there. Waffles and fruit, and beignets with fresh fruit and powdered sugar. Good coffee, as well, with plenty of refills brought over by the staff. It's a small indoors area; we were lucky to walk in just as another couple left so we had no wait and didn't have to eat outside in the heat. Lived in Smyrna Beach for about six years and I finally made it to the mermaid Café. Wow those dough wiped drinks not bad at all pretty good with the pineapple in it. They also have mimosa flights. We didn't go for the mimosa flight, but we did get pineapple, mimosa, and orange juice mimosa. Jasmine was our server and it was so funny. She kept picking up a rooster called. Kritical kept coming to the front of the restaurant and then he would just pick at the door. It was just so funny. She kept coming out picking him up and moving him across the street or around the corner he was still come around that damn rooster so funny she was amazing. Her service was outstanding. It's a cute little place. They also have a waffle bar casual dressing shorts flip-flops have outside seating and indoor seating so cute. They have one lots of awards. I can't wait to go back and try the red sangria. They won a couple awards for the red sangria, but I forgot to ask about it but they have one awards for other food items as well. Stopped by The Mermaid Cafe today for beignets and an iced vanilla coffee. First off, this place is absolutely beautiful. My boyfriend uses a power wheelchair, and getting onto the porch and into the cafe was easy, which we really appreciated. I paid a little over $15 for an order of beignets with fresh fruit and an iced vanilla coffee. It's definitely on the pricey side, but those beignets were worth it. They were fresh, light, beautifully presented, and honestly some of the best I've had. Even the fruit was fresh and delicious. The only thing that disappointed me was the coffee. I'd give it a 5/10. It was really watery and just nothing special. For the prices and how amazing the food was, I was expecting a much better iced coffee. I wish they put the same care into their coffee as they do into their beignets. Overall, I'd absolutely come back for the food and the atmosphere. Hopefully the coffee is better next time! read more

We stumbled up this delightful restaurant and it was the BEST happy accident of our trip. We loved it so much we went back the next day for our last meal to end our vacation. We started with Dole Whip Mimosa ( Orange, Raspberry and Pineapple)! All were delicious and beautifully presented. We also shared the Beignets and what a treat! Devoured them! Busy busy busy was the word of the day on the weekend I went. They say Saturday is a little less busy than sundays. The service was great. Everyone was friends and helpful. The food was delicious. We were in a big group and everything that was ordered was wonderful. The only negative I heard was the stuffed beignet was a little small for the price and not stuffed as described. I almost want to leave a bad review so no one else goes there Unfortunately, I checked my ego, and understand I do not have that kind of influence on anyone. The food - perfection. The service - fantastic. The atmosphere - beachy. I got eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and 1/4 strawberry waffle and a coke (bottled). It was like $15 without a tip? Which I think is great! I spend that at Dunkin' and get much less! The waffle was most certainly the highlight of the meal because it wasn't just strawberries just slapped on a waffle - you could clearly tell the whipped cream was homemade or at least high quality. It was detailed, even for my little 1/4 waffle, down to the crumble of I don't know what on top. The bacon, hashbrowns, and eggs were better than I expected. I don't know why I expected a frozen hashbrown patty, thin/fake bacon, and liquid eggs, but I was over the moon to have real, crunchy bacon and decent hashbrowns and eggs! My only complaint was that I'd much prefer to have a fountain coke rather than a bottle. It definitely isn't a dealbreaker though. You can tell the owner and staff really care about their customers and business and they seem to enjoy their jobs - which is a huge plus in my opinion. I can't wait to go back! read more

Had breakfast here and what a cute spot! Absolutely full of whimsy and all of the staff had such high, positive energy. Our server, Jewel, was the sweetest ever! I ordered the 1/2 Waffle breakfast and wow, it's crazy to be this obsessed with a waffle when I only got bananas as a topping. But it truly was a delicious waffle! I really enjoyed the breakfast and now need to try their other waffle selections! The eggs were a bit plain for my liking but still a very balanced meal. Cute and cozy with delicious food and friendly service. The mermaid Café is a local gem. It does get busy on weekends so be prepared to wait a little bit. The café is also on the smaller side. I ordered a half waffle breakfast and upgraded to a new Smyrna Beach waffle they ran out of raspberries so they put strawberries on it and it was delicious. The waffle has a lemon frosting on it, which was very yummy. I also indulge in a pineapple dole whip mimosa. I have never had that before and was excited because I love dole whip so why not have it in a mimosa? This was also very yummy! The breakfast also came with eggs that were cooked perfectly, Taylor ham although I like to call it pork roll, IYKYK. I would absolutely recommend the mermaid café if you're looking for a delicious breakfast or brunch in NSB. I think there are a few parking spaces nearby. I rode my scooter there. read more

This place was highly recommended for this area so we decided to try it out. I love trying local places in general and mermaid cafe made the list. Food was great, I actually enjoyed everything they served us. Breakfast burrito came out little cold, the outside was warm but the inside was colder than expected for a warm breakfast burrito. Buffalo chicken wrap was great, it had just enough spice in it, not a lot of chicken but enough and bunch of veggies which I appreciated. Both burrito and buffalo wrap came out beautifully, some good and nicely tight tortillas. I had a side pasta salad that was surprisingly good and refreshing, but majority is pasta with very little tomatoes and mozzarella, however it was nicely spiced. We tried their traditional beignets, which were actually delicious and i would change nothing about them, they are perfectly crispy and soft at the same time and came out warm so that experience was great. When it comes to drinks, I expected little more, i got a hot green tea but my order was wrong but they switched it quickly, much appreciated, and the dole whip mimosa was good but i think it could be better, there was little to no flavor in beginning and serving wasn't super pretty. I was expecting at least couple types of coffee but this was okay, did not blow my socks off. Service was good, lady that served was very nice and considerate, however the first server we interacted with was not so pleased. Overall nice place, could use some cleaning (chairs, tables and front patio need a rinse), i don't know that i would go out of my way to go there again but it's a nice break from the ordinarily food places, worth a try not a long term commitment. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. Great little breakfast spot! At the end of Flagler ave. Some indoor seating and some outdoor seating. First come, first served. Prices are pretty standard for beachy touristy area. My two egg breakfast was $10.95, my husband's breakfast was $13.95. We actually had our breakfast comped because we were guests at the hotel next door. Our free breakfast choices were limited to the half waffle, two egg, breakfast sandwich, and one other option. It came with either coffee or OJ. The wait time for our food was reasonable. The syrup for the waffle was so good. And the packaged butter was salted- I prefer that. My toast was a bit soggy but that happens in the humidity. Breakfast was so good and service was amazing. That young gal was running around being cheerful and just smiling at everyone. I loved her attitude. We would easily come back for breakfast again. They have some alcoholic beverages like spiked coffees and mimosas and even some that include dole whip! Their version of the affogato sounds amazing. The waffles on the menu come stacked with toppings. The key lime one sounds like dessert. Yes, please! They have a lunch menu as well. This place was packed at lunch on a Saturday. Healthy options abound with salads and wraps etc. When you visit NSB, come support this local spot. It's good! read more

We shared an order of beignets while I had the New Smyrna Beach Stuffed Waffle.
