We arrived at Old Town Pub on a weekday at that strange and tender hour between the end of work and the beginning of evening, when the sunlight looks tired but not yet ready to quit. There were eight of us, a band of aging birthday revelers, unsure whether we were still young enough to be loud or too old to be noticed. The staff didn't seem to mind either way. They smiled, rearranged some tables upstairs in a corner just for us, and let us take our time as the rest of the party wandered in, one by one, like characters from eight different novels who'd lost their place in the story. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The upstairs room was empty when we arrived, echoing pleasantly with the sound of our indecision. By the time we left, it was humming with life.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender, whose name I did not catch but whose pour I will remember, mixed me an Apple Jack from the fall cocktail list. I had planned to explore their beer selection, which is said to be quite good, but the apple and Tito's combination called out to me like an old American folk song. It was crisp and strong and made me grateful for my liver's enduring patience. For dinner, I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was good but too greasy, even for a dish whose main promise is grease. The plate looked like an oil field after a minor accident, and the poor chips had to make do with swimming lessons they hadn't asked for. Still, the fish itself was solid and flaky, and I ate most of it while pretending not to notice the puddles. Around the table there were burgers, salads, sandwiches and tacos. Everyone ate. Everyone was fine. No one wept with joy. Our server, though, deserves an entire paragraph. He was the sort of person you wish the world had more of. He was patient, kind, and surprisingly cheerful for someone who had to answer seven variations of "What's good here?" He took special care with our friend who has celiac disease, making several trips to confirm that her meal would be safe. He handled it with both professionalism and genuine concern. It was one of those rare moments when good service feels less like customer care and more like small-scale heroism. We were politely nudged around 7:00 to make way for the trivia crowd, which seemed fair. We had been there for two and a half hours, which in restaurant time is nearly an epoch. On another night, I imagine they would have let us stay longer. We left feeling content, not dazzled, but content counts for a lot these days. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Old Town Pub may not be the most extraordinary restaurant in Bordentown, but it has heart. It has history, too, tucked into its walls from the days when it was The Farnsworth House. The renovation in 2017 gave it new life without scrubbing away its past. That balance between old and new feels just right, like the moment between late afternoon and early evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Four stars for kindness, competence, and cocktails that don't apologize for being cocktails. The fish and chips may have been greasy, but the night itself was not.

We stopped in around 4 on a Saturday. Typical bar / pub. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was jam packed already & we got one of the last tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Menu has plenty of options. We got chicken quesadillas, loaded tater tots, roast beef sandwich, some drinks & their peach cobbler. Everything was very good; although the quesadillas had bacon in there which I didn't like but my fault for not paying attention to the menu description. Our server was very nice & efficient.

My friends and I decided to do a girls lunch here to catch-up. We came in on a Saturday afternoon around 12 and there was barely anyone seated. Even when we left around 1:30 PM there was probably only five other parties. For my drink I chose the Jimmy Spritz, it was light a refreshing for the hot summer day but barely had any alcohol in it. I was a little hestitant at first ordering a poke bowl at a pub but was pleasantly surprised. The tuna was fresh and the sauces complimented the dish well. The only thing I wish they did was chop the cucumber and peppers into more bitesized pieces as they were a few inches in lenght. Given that the place wasn't that crowded I thought our server would be a little quicker/attentive unless for some reason they were short-staffed. It just took her a little while to check in on us or to bring over the check. Between the three of us all having an entree plus a beverage it averaged out to about $40-$45 pp. A little pricey but the food was good. I may return if I am back in the area.

Old Town Pub is one of those places you can always count on. The food is consistently tasty and the menu has plenty of options, whether you're in the mood for a burger, wings, or something a little more filling. Their fries are always crispy because it's cut so thin and it's never over cooked. On top of that, they've got a huge selection of beers, so there's always something new to try or a favorite to come back to. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every time I've been here, the vibe has been great, laid-back, welcoming, and just a fun spot to hang out with friends or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service has always been friendly and reliable, and I've never walked away disappointed. Definitely one of the go-to spots in Bordentown if you're looking for good food, lots of beer choices, and a place where you know you count on.

We were recommended to try this place for dinner by the bartender from Subculture Artisan Ales (which is superb). [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place was great. Warm and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender there was super friendly and made a mean old fashioned. I had a burger which was terrific the fries were oh my god amazing. My husband ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich and originally came with cheese (not listed on menu), they immediately made a new one and it was great. I also had a (cheat day) and ordered a root beer float which was one of the best ever! We will definitely be back even though it's not super close to us.

Came here for dinner after trevling into town for work after seeing the reviews on Yelp. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For a Sunday night, the service was great and ambience was chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the pork chop with mashed potatoes and ceaser salad as the sides. Everything was fantastic. Would definitely come back.

Another 5-star experience and meal. This is definitely a "go to" spot for a great dinner! Bone-in pork chop is a new favorite for me. Would go back just for that.... Great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy pub ambiance and plenty of TVs playing lots of different sports.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend.

Bent Iron Red Ale - definite winner 5/5, bonus that they are local!

Lunch date with my husband on our annual November lunch date expedition (kids at school right before rest of Jersey week/teacher's connection week kicks off). Looked for a brew pub with plenty of interesting options and Old Town fit the bill. Service super friendly and welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love that we were already in the holiday spirit with decor and lights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was outstanding, along with beers. Pumpkin ravioli was a total win - could this day get any better (aside from the delish Maine Coffee stout)? Husband leaned in on vegetarianism this time and portobello panini a big hit - chips were crispy and so was the toasted Nicky roll. Both the Maine IPA and Bent Iron red ale were big hits. What a great way to spend our afternoon together. Outstanding in every way.

Excellent service by Christie! So accommodating and her recommendations were spot on! Our group of five thoroughly enjoyed the loaded tater tot appetizers. Our fabulous entrees included 1lb wings, shrimp tacos, Cuban sandwich, shrimp cocktail, beet salad w cup pond corn chowder. We all immensely loved our meal and the time enjoying espresso martini and J Lohr Riesling. We will definitely be back and request Christie!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool bar with lots of options![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We just came for drinks st paddys weekend so I can't touch on the food. But bar service was quick and bartenders were friendly and helpful! Good espresso martinis! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had live music which was fun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Portabella Mushroom Panini

Took a stroll through the lovely town of Bordentown, NJ a couple weekends ago. We had no intentions of eating in the area but happily stumbled upon Old Town Pub. We were enticed by the availability of outdoor seating. It was shaded with cool music playing. I can't remember our server's name, but she was excellent! Super pleasant and helpful all the way through. The menu is large and there is a vast selection of beers on tap. I ordered the Portabella Mushroom Panini and it didn't disappoint! The bread was toasted perfectly and the mushroom/veggies were seasoned nicely. The fries, however... WOW! I mentioned to the server how I was obsessed with the texture of the fries and she said they were her favorite. I can only describe them as being airy steak fries, if that makes sense. They had a good crunch to them, too. The quality of food and service exceeded my expectations. This is an absolute gem of a restaurant if you're looking for something subtle with reasonable prices. Hope to be back in the near future!

Came here after work yesterday. It's a cute little town with quite a few restaurants. I ordered shrimp tacos, the food is good. Service is excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outside seating is really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

One of our favorite spots in Bordentown. Amazing happy hour specials. Overall great service, local crowd, and they do great themes throughout the year. Wings are the star of the show in my opinion! Nachos are great too. 40 beers on tap doesn't hurt either.

There is a bar in Bordentown, New Jersey, only a block from the main drag but hidden snug as a tick…read moreamong the residential streets, called the Heart of Bordentown, HOB Tavern, for short. Heart of Bordentown! How wonderful, how tragic, how appropriate. If you grew up in America, you already know this place, even if you have never set foot in New Jersey. Sticky floors. PBRs at three dollars a pop. A shot roulette wheel. The smell of old beer and older hope. And a menu that could be printed on the back of a cocktail napkin: wings, burgers, fried somethings that used to be animals. Tofu even makes a cursory appearance. I ordered a whiskey and ginger ale, and they did not ask me what kind of whiskey, either because there was not a choice, or because in a place like this, the existential choice is always "yes." It came in a pint glass. Nine dollars. Heavy pour. Good enough for the likes of me. My wife asked for a vodka soda. "Is Tito's okay?" the bartender asked, displaying more concern for the quality of her spirit than the average congressman shows for the quality of his constituents. The regulars were loud, but they were not mean about it. A group of young women celebrated a birthday. The entire bar sang "Happy Birthday" with the ragged sincerity of a people who have seen too many Tuesdays. It was beautiful in a slightly tragic, terribly American way. In the midst of our singing, one bartender, still seemingly a bbit green behind the ears, forgot how to make a Malibu Bay Breeze. Cannot blame him. Our rendition was raucous. Or maybe he just was not built for tropical cocktails. In any case, what is remembered about a drink like that is not the technique, but the intention. Listen: if you come here, order a beer. Or a simple mixed drink, no more than two ingredients, no more dreams than that. Stick to the wings or the burger. Nachos if you're feeling adventerous. Expect nothing fancy, and you might just find yourself accidentally, briefly, happy.

I haven't been to this site since it was Dublin Square which was a long time ago. Some of the layout changed. They no longer have the old bar separated from the dining area. Callie was our server and did a great job. I was there with some friends from SC. We started by ordering the large pretzel which comes out on a pretzel hanger along with some beer cheese for dipping. They also use that hanger for bacon. The pretzel was enough for 4 of us. I ordered the wings and selected Nashville Hot and Hog Sauce as my flavors. They claim they sell by the pound ($15.50) but it ends up being 8 wings. If you want to split flavors, they make it dry and bring the sauce on the side for dipping. Luckily the Nashville Hot is a dry rub. It was very good and not too spicy. The Hog Sauce is a combo of Buffalo and Garlic which was excellent. The wings themselves were plump, juicy and crispy. Five stars. Plenty of parking. Some tables available outside for outdoor seating when it ever gets nice in NJ. Bathrooms were very clean. You may find some little pink pigs around. Not sure if they're complimentary, but my wife took the one that was next to our table. My only complaint is they have too many of their draft beers designated for only 10 oz pours even with low ABV. While I do enjoy Marcello's there are a few things that hold this back from being a 4 or 5 start restaurant in my opinion. The first thing is the price. It's very pricy. The drinks are expensive but the food is really expensive. A "pizette" which is a flatbread is very costly for what you get in my opinion. But with that said, they are really good. Same with their sandwiches and pastas. Expensive but generally good. Wit that said, I have found their food hit or miss. Sometimes it's really on and it's phenomenal. Other times it's average. So a bit inconsistent. The service is just okay. I have found the bartenders a bit aloof. But they do make mighty good drinks. My favorite thing is the sausage egg rolls. Highly recommend them. The pizza is also quite good. I will keep coming here but wish it was a little more reasonably priced.
