I went to Rossi's Bar and Grill in Hamilton with an old friend who still talks about hamburgers the way some people talk about first loves and lost wars. Years ago I took him to the original Rossi's in Chambersburg after they won WIP radio host Glen Macnow's best burger contest. The place felt smoky and cramped and alive, a beating heart of the local community. So he came back to town and said, Take me to Rossi's. I want that burger again. The new Rossi's is bigger and brighter and very aware of its own legend. The website still shouts proudly about the award winning burger, the kind of pride that lingers long after the parade has packed up and the confetti has been swept into the gutter. The official burger of Polk High. We ordered the famous burger. It arrived on a soft roll, thick and respectable, cooked properly enough. The beef had that loose packed texture that once made it special, a little craggy, a little juicy. It was, in a word, fine. It didn't part the heavens, and it didn't cause my friend to close his eyes and whisper my name in gratitude. It was just a hamburger. The fries were plentiful and hot. There is still a sports bar soul here, sort of. Televisions glow and beer flows, albeit very VERY slowly. The menu stretches wide with wings, sandwiches, steaks, things for people who want something other than beef on a bun. It feels like a place that knows how to feed a crowd after a Little League game or a retirement home on an afternoon outing. The service was friendly in the way a distracted and rarely seen cousin is friendly at Thanksgiving. Smiles, sure. Refills, eventually. Our server moved with the gentle chaos of someone juggling too many plates and not enough time or help. Nothing disastrous happened. Nothing especially polished happened either. We waited, ee watched and we ate. When my friend took a bite,he nodded politely. He said, "It's good." This is not what he said all those years ago in Chambersburg when grease ran down his wrist and he declared it the best burger in the state with the certainty of Biff Tannen with a Sports Almanac in his back pocket. Restaurants age and legends settle into routine. Rossi's feels like it is living comfortably on stories of past glory. There is nothing wrong with the food, but there is nothing thrilling about it either. If you are nearby and hungry, you'll be fed and you'll leave full. If you're chasing a memory, you may just find that memory tastes better than the present. read more

The Classic Rossiburger is what I came for and it delivered! Ordered medium and this 12 oz (3/4 lb) HUGE burger was served a perfect pink. Was it a 1/2 pounder years ago? I asked for the lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. I also got cheese on the burger, which i believe was white American. It was so juicy, flavorful and the right temp, and didn't need any condiments. The Italian Kaiser bun has mixed reviews on Yelp, but I was a huge fan. It tasted great and sopped up the burger juices. Rossi's is an area institution. In Trenton from 1933-2014 and then in Mercerville for the past 11 years. It has tons of old photos on th wall of the OG Rossi's and the people that ate there, like Joe DiMaggio. It was huge space with a bar, tables and booths. Let's to start. Our server lady with long back hair was absolutely rude and unprofessional. We asked for a happy our drinks. She said its right there. And it wasn't. We asked her again. She was run all over restaurant looked for happy hour drinks menu. She said we don't have it. Because menu going to get changed next week. So definitely not going back and not recommend to anyone. To start there was no one to seat us and second Jason F. the waiter was absolutely rude and felt rushed. First we waited 10 minutes before he came to the table, He did not introduce himself did not seem friendly, when asked for dressing types he said we have everything. Did not seem to care about his job. When we were done eating he did not clear the table he took one pile before desert and the manager I assume took the other pile. He was ready to give me the check before offering coffee or desert. I felt like telling the kid off. That is not how to service people when they come to eat not to mention no one is going to drink from a cup where your fingers were around the mouth area. He needs retraining. I went to eat here for lunch with a buddy of mine from work. This place was in the area because our first choice found out was closed. They have plenty of parking and when we got there were seated at a booth. It took the server a little bit to get to us during lunch. It wasn't busy that much maybe 3 other tables and a few people at the bar. I ordered the chicken francese with a side salad that came with house dressing. This is something I don't recommend ordering here. The sauce tasted like it came from a can. The chicken was not cooked that well because it could use a more breading on the chicken. The pasta tasted very weird and I really didn't eat much of it at all. The side salad had iceberg lettuce which is cheaper, I prefer the romaine. I have tasted better chicken francese from other places. I will just say maybe just stick to the burgers here instead of entrees they offer. read more

I took a friend there for their birthday. I remember Rossi's from when it was in Trenton. Always had a nice crowd there. Local folks and state workers liked it. Food was good, especially the burgers. Since they moved out into Hamilton, it's not the same anymore. There were a total of 4 people here during lunch time. I don't think anybody named Rossi works there anymore, either. The bartender took our order, burger and fries for the birthday boy and a chicken parm sandwich for me. Two glasses of beer to wash it all down. The chicken parm was a decent size, tomato sauce and cheese melted on it. Fries were big steak fries. They were hot at least. The chicken parm was nothing to write home about. Bland, no crispy breading and warm at best. My friend said the burger was OK. The beer was cold too. It's just not what it once was. It used to be vibrant with plenty of locals watching a ball game on TV in the afternoon even during the week. It's just a shadow of its former self. Very sad. read more

Prime Rib Dinner was cooked medium rare as we asked but was not tender and carrots potatoes and meat were not even warm. There was no bread! Been on my "to go" lunch places for a while but totally forgot about it until it was on a best in NJ burger list recently. Ordered the "Rossi burger" plain with cheese and a side of fries to go. I had seen the picture of the burger before going to the restaurant but being how advertising is, I was skeptical. It was pretty big, and thick. Smelled good. Fries were crispy...just the way I like them. Burger was cooked perfectly. However, was lacking in the seasoning department. Still good, but could definitely have been better. Already mentioned the fried being crispy. But they were your normal steak fries, nothing spectacular. Also ordered chocolate chip cookies to go. They looked and smelled fantastic. Chewy and warm. Not sure if they just made a batch or threw them in the oven. But you'll definitely want milk with them. Overall, a good experience. Wish I could leave a lower rating but not possible. Had a 6pm reservation and was seated at a table near the bar. There were about 6 other tables occupied. Sat for 15 minutes and not a sole stopped at our table. Didn't even see a waitress in that time pass by. I got up to go to the bar and a waitress finally appeared and I asked if we could get service. She grunted and kept walking. 6:20 came and I saw a few waiters talking at the bar with the bartenders so I made my way over. A young man asked if he could help and I explained we were sitting for 20 minutes without any assistance. He apologized and said he was down 3 servers, which I understood and went back to the table. 5 mins. Later a waitress comes over, throws her pad on the table and bends over on her elbows and stares at us. No apology, or sorry It's really busy tonight or anything. I got such a bad feeling and my wife and daughter looked at each other and we all said we're not staying for this. She just walked away and the young man was standing there and apologized and said, I don't blame you for leaving, I would walk out too. With several more non burger visits under my belt I really have to update this rating. It seems that there are more reasons than just beefy ones to visit this casual bar and restaurant that was once a Charlie Browns location. I bring my uncle here frequently and he's hooked on their stuffed pepper. It is a huge serving of a green pepper overflowing with their beef filling, nicely seasoned and served with penne that he says are al dente. I almost always choose something different but not because I was disappointed by my previous choices. Most recently I ordered a special, parm crusted chicken cutlets. This was very nicely done, crispy tasty chicken with good garlic mashed potatoes, a light garlic and cheese sauce topping it. On my visit before that I tried their tomato pie, this can stand up to other local pie specialists. A very good chicken wrap and a pork Milanese that had a huge arugula salad on top were also recent and pleasing selections. The host and wait staff are always friendly and efficient. And I still would like to make it here for a HH to take advantage of the drink and app specials. There are also daily specials and I'd love to come on a Thursday to check out the veal and peppers. With many choices for casual/ fast casual in this area, I think that Rossi's is by far my favorite. While the burgers may have been better in the Burg, they are no longer a defining item with other great options on the menu. read more

Living through its old fame is what I would describe these burgers as the burger is big and reasonably priced but not seasoned enough. The burger seems to be a bit outdated, even though the burger is 12oz, the taste seems to be lacking in spices and creativity. I would say that the other food I tried like the fried zucchini and Fish & Chips are better despite being known as the burger place. Overall, I would come back to try the other foods that they have in store as it seems more promising than the old-fashioned burger. Meh. I've lived in Hamilton for almost 5 years now and only recently tried this place for the first time. Our drinks tasted like root beer and we were told sometimes to drink machines get their wires crossed, which obviously wasn't a big deal as they quickly replaced them. Service was good, but the food wasn't that great. We shared the mozzarella sticks and I had a chicken parm sandwich. My parents have been raving about this restaurant but when I visited it just missed the mark. They're apparently known for their burgers, so I got the bacon and cheddar burger. The size of the burger was pretty hefty so I'm not here to complain about that. I requested the burger be cooked medium and served with sweet potatoes fries for a $2.99 premium (it seems like everything is a la carte) and although the sweet potatoes fries were amazing, they couldn't carry the entire dish. The burger was cooked medium, but the actual meat was dry? Like dry to the point where I didn't even finish half of it. Kind of disappointing. Honestly though, even if a burger is dry, you can put some ketchup on it to save the meal, but it wasn't even worth it. The flavor profile wasn't even there either for me to even bother. Basically no seasoning, just ground meat and toppings. On another note, my brother got the chicken parm, and although he said the chicken itself was good and plentiful, the sauce was so watered down it didn't even hold to the pasta. Our waitress kept darting away so quick that we actually felt bad for making a new request every time she got back with a water or container, or whatever, but there was definitely something odd going on there. Even when she brought back my credit card she kind of just threw the receipt on the table and was like "thank you," super quick and dashed off to wherever. Not even a "have a great night," nothing. The food was just ok. My wife's burger was supposed to be well done But it came out pink in the middle. The burgers do not come with a side. Had to pay extra for that. I've been going to Rossi's over the years when they were in Chambersburg, Trenton and the Hamilton location, but I was so disappointed the last time eating there, this past week. I never post negative comments but unfortunately can't stay silent on this one. I took my sister out for dinner and we ordered the ribeye steak and pork loin sandwiches averaging $18 + and no fries offered (sandwich only) with the plate. The ribeye sandwich was tough and fatty and the pork loin was dry and chewy. We ordered 2 appetizers, wings and fried zucchini, wings were decent and fried zucchini was different from before but mediocre. Solid burgers, but this is a place skating by on its reputation. There is a definite us and them feeling here as regulars from Chambersburg days are given preference over outsiders. It creates a weird kind of vibe here which makes it a solid place for locals, but inessential and uncomfortable for those outside the Mercer county bubble. Apparently, this place is known for their burger, called the "Rossi Burger", which is what I got for my first time. For about $10 base price, you get a pretty large burger with a thick beef patty, definity a great bang for your buck deal. Unfortunately, the patty has no flavor and is a bit on the dry side. I would highly recommend putting addons in your burger, though that will bump up the price. Same for the fries I got as a side, bland and in need of toppings. On the other hand, their fried zucchini is really good. The coating is very crispy and the savory marinara sauce makes it all even better. Good customer service. Before COVID , this was a once a week spot for dinner , but things have changed. The outdoor service has been ,sad to say ,horrible . The untrained young wait staff have been so inexperienced , they did not know to bring utensils or napkins to your table, got orders wrong , and just oblivious, but nice . And trying to order takeout -for the Continental salad with fresh shrimp - the shrimp are on the side doused in butter -even after specifically saying on 3 different occasions "fresh not sautéed on the side" . I went here for lunch because I was craving a burger and heard rave reviews about their burgers. It was terrible. I had the mushroom Swiss burger. The burger wasn't seasoned at all. It had no flavor and it was super dry. I ordered it med rare and it was well done in most spots and medium in others. It seems like it was sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Our go to place. Been coming for years, still waiting to have a bad meal or something I don't like. Always fresh, always good, always reasonable. Known for the burgers which are great, but the pizza is also awesome. We always share the Greek salad which is huge and delicious. Their tomato sauce is awesome, so whatever you get red, like pasta ect. is gonna be real good. Only gripe, If I may be picky, is their selection of hard seltzers, not really a problem though. Walking in here as a 31 year old Latina you immediately feel the stark culture shock, as the people carrying on at the bar and catching up are from another era, one that has not changed. The original Trentonians, Italian and grayed are in all their glory, surrounded by fellow patrons sharing stories of their families and new grandchildren. Sitting at a high top by the bar, it was amazing to sit back and listen in to all these conversations and allow a little jealousy to sink in that I could not share in their memories. Thankfully Rossi's is surrounded by old artifacts and giant pictures of Trenton, back in the day in all it's glory. As someone who has some serious hope for this area to return to a portion of that, I find it all terribly romantic. Yes, I will talk about the food, I'm just a sucker for good ambiance. Now the food, we of course had to order burgers after hearing all the hoopla around them. I got mine well done and my hubby medium well. They took a little longer than I wished, but as we waited our perfectly made drinks hit the spot. Do not leave this place without ordering a patron margarita! When eating the burger, much like other reviews I felt like it was solid, but not mind blowing........but here's the weird thing......the next day I was CRAVING it! We hated when this was a Charlie Browns, but we love Rossi's. They've made great improvements to the interior design. While Rossi's is known for their great burgers, I like to check our their draft beer selection and wings. Their wings were nice and crispy, tender and well prepared. Not too spicy, not too sloppy. My wife ordered their veggie burger which I had to try as well. I'm not sure if they make it themselves or who they use, but it also tasted like a regular hamburger. They do a really nice job dressing it up. For beer, they have a nice selection on draft and also in bottles. This is now one of my faves. read more

I had the chance to have lunch at the "New" Rossi's with my mom and grandparents recently. One of the things that made me love the original Rossi's was its charm. It was a small corner bar that had awesome burgers. Obviously moving into the former Charlie Brown's Steak House it was now going to be a large restaurant. The owners did a great job bringing some of the old feel to the new restaurant with the checkered table cloths and various memorabilia. As you enter the restaurant there is a large bar on the left and to the right there at least (2) rooms to dine in. I didn't look past the burgers on the menu because they are the only reason I ever went to Rossi's but they do have a lot of other options to choose from. Our waitress was very nice and came over to our table quickly. We placed our drink / food orders and it seemed like minutes later all of our food arrived. The restaurant was fairly full for lunch and I was really surprised at the speed they prepared our meals. My burger was solid and it was topped with a fried egg. The burger patty was huge and the roll could have been a bit larger to accompany it but it was ample. The burger seemed to taste the same as the previous burgers I've had in the past. Rossi's burger tasted just like a 80/20 ground beef burger you would make on the grill at home. I've become spoiled with all the different burger blends so many restaurants are turning out these days. That's why I gave Rossi's 3 stars which to me means its a solid choice to grab a burger. You won't be blown away by it but you will be sure to return if your in the area. On a side note my grandparents split the cheesesteak. It was a piece of steak on a roll.
