Taverns Ribeye Sandwich. Full of flavor
    Mark D.

We went here for our daughters 10th birthday. The family has been going there for years and have yet to have a bad experience. Tonight we had a party of 15 and had a table in the dining room section reserved. They did a fantastic job with the servicing of our large group. Stayed on top of the drinks for the table and not a single issue with the orders of 15 people. I ordered the Tavern Ribeye sandwich and a cup of chili. The Chili was delicious, loaded with the right amount of cheese on top, and the heat wasn't overpowering like some places make their chili. The Tavern Ribeye Sandwich was full of flavor and came with au jus for dipping.

My wife and I stopped earlier this evening for dinner and some couple time without the kids. Seated quickly at a two top table in the bar area. Great little private table. We live in Chesterfield and this is a local "go to" spot for us. My wife got a giant quesadilla and I ordered the Prime Rib special. The prime rib was cooked perfectly at medium rare. Juicy and full of flavor. Wife's food was also excellent. We got the bread pudding for desert which we split. Came nice and warm and was delicious! Our server was attentive and hustled her butt off with our table and a few others that she was handling. I wasn't aware the management had changed but I see that from some of the other reviews. I would have never known. Same great local spot with excellent food/service that we've come to expect. Look forward to next time.

What to expect from a tavern with a cornerstone of 1710? At the Chesterfield Inn you get heavy historic wooden beams and floorboards, and authentic pre- revolutionary vibes from top to bottom. So, if you're into American colonial times along with pretty good bar food and mugs of grog, this is your place. I stopped in recently for late lunch and as soon as I entered I was captured by the well preserved condition of the bar/grill that has been a dive for over 300 years. I sat at the rectangular bar and asked for the menu. It was bigger than anticipated with both lunch and dinner options for reasonable prices. I chose a personal sized tomato pie with roasted red pepper, and started a chat with the bartendress and the dude at the end of the bar. Both were open and enjoyable. The pizza was excellent with firm undercarriage that held its points and load easily. Bite and crunch were strong and the flavorful ingredients a pleasure to consume. The pepper added a touch of sweetness to the acidic tomato atop the bed of mozza. By the time I left the winter sun sat low on the western horizon and the Sons of Liberty were debating the cause of freedom in the back dining room. The shadows lengthened across the gold hued fields as I drove back through Trenton, crossed the Delaware at Washington Crossing, and tasted that crusty pie one last time at dusk.

Decided to go after friend used to work here. OMG 5 of us. All ordered something different. Everything was amazing. Definitely going back If you like French Onion soup...Get it! Not overly salty. I get everywhere it's on the menu. More tomato based than beef broth -my daughter & I both got and literally drank the bowl see pix

Usually when I come here with any of my friends, we always order nachos and another meal. The food here is phenomenal, great atmosphere, great service and friendly staff. I've been to The Chesterfield Inn a handful of times, and have never been disappointed!

The hostess was very friendly. She immediately took us to our table. Then our waiter came. She was not friendly at all. It did not seem like she wanted to work there or serve us. We decided to move sections because we wanted to sit near a window since it was so dark in the main dining area. Unfortunately, we got the same server. Also, it was a very hot day and it did not seem like they had the AC on. Weird. The food and drinks were meh. I ordered the peach sangria. It was decent. Not too strong and not too sweet. My dad ordered a Coors Light. They didn't have it on draft so he had to get a cold glass. He enjoyed it. Their cocktail menu was very limited considering they have a full bar. We ordered one appetizer which was the onion soup. For our entree's we ordered the the B2 Bistro Burger, Mustard crusted salmon, and grilled chicken pasta. The French Onion Soup was delicious. Very hot but flavorful. However, it could have used less salt. The Bistro Burger was good. Cooked to perfection and very juicy. The fries were a bit salty but still edible. The Mustard Crusted salmon was meh. The salmon itself wasn't very flavorful. The rice was pretty bland but the green beans were delicious. The grilled chicken pasta was probably the best dish of the evening. It was very flavorful, hot, and cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed that entree. Overall, it was a good experience with minor flaws. I am not sure if I will return but if I do I don't think I will have any major issues. If you are in the area check them out. Cheers!

I passed it on the way to my hotel and immediately decided it was a place I wanted to check out. I'll admit I was a little alarmed when I walked in and realized it was giving neighborhood bar energy instead of the chic bistro vibes is expecting. I happened to arrive during trivia night, and most of the patrons seemed really into it so it was much louder and rowdier than I anticipated. So much for a quiet dinner. I asked the hostess if I could be seated in a booth away from the activity, but even in a less crowded section, the atmosphere remained pretty overstimulating. In addition to the enthusiastic trivia-playing patrons, there were loud, animated conversations among various staff members, music playing from staff member's phone while music was already playing throughout the restaurant, and just a lot of competing noise. After a three-hour drive, I was really hoping for a glass of wine, a nice meal, and a more relaxed environment. That said, the staff were all incredibly friendly and pleasant. You could tell that they genuinely enjoy working there and enjoy each other's company, which made it difficult to be too annoyed. Eventually, I popped in my AirPods and dissociated so that I could focus on enjoying my meal. For dinner, the Chicken Francaise with a glass of the Italian Pinot Grigio (The name escapes me at the moment). The wine paired beautifully with the meal. The chicken itself was a fairly thick cut and cooked perfectly, but it could have used a bit more seasoning. I also would have loved to see some of the risotto sauce drizzled over the chicken because, while the texture was spot on, the flavor was a little underwhelming on its own. The green beans were excellent. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crunch and lightly seasoned. But the real star of the show was the Parmesan lemon risotto. That risotto is easily among the top three best risottos I've ever had. The brightness of the lemon combined with the creamy parmesan made for an absolutely unforgettable dish. I was genuinely disappointed that I couldn't finish it because every bite was fantastic. Honestly, I could have ordered a plate of that risotto by itself and left completely satisfied. While the atmosphere wasn't quite what I was looking for, the friendly service and that unforgettable delectable risotto made the visit worthwhile.

Heart of Bordentown! How wonderful, how tragic, how appropriate. If you grew up in America, you already know this place, even if you have never set foot in New Jersey. Sticky floors. PBRs at three dollars a pop. A shot roulette wheel. The smell of old beer and older hope. And a menu that could be printed on the back of a cocktail napkin: wings, burgers, fried somethings that used to be animals. Tofu even makes a cursory appearance. I ordered a whiskey and ginger ale, and they did not ask me what kind of whiskey, either because there was not a choice, or because in a place like this, the existential choice is always "yes." It came in a pint glass. Nine dollars. Heavy pour. Good enough for the likes of me. My wife asked for a vodka soda. "Is Tito's okay?" the bartender asked, displaying more concern for the quality of her spirit than the average congressman shows for the quality of his constituents. The regulars were loud, but they were not mean about it. A group of young women celebrated a birthday. The entire bar sang "Happy Birthday" with the ragged sincerity of a people who have seen too many Tuesdays. It was beautiful in a slightly tragic, terribly American way. In the midst of our singing, one bartender, still seemingly a bbit green behind the ears, forgot how to make a Malibu Bay Breeze. Cannot blame him. Our rendition was raucous. Or maybe he just was not built for tropical cocktails. In any case, what is remembered about a drink like that is not the technique, but the intention. Listen: if you come here, order a beer. Or a simple mixed drink, no more than two ingredients, no more dreams than that. Stick to the wings or the burger. Nachos if you're feeling adventerous. Expect nothing fancy, and you might just find yourself accidentally, briefly, happy.

The coffee is really good, the breakfast I had was fantastic, a western omelette with the most amazing home fries I have ever had, and I do not say that like lightly at all, these were wedges that were well seasoned, and then cut in such a way that they had Spaces that flavoring and texture would creep into making each bite slightly crispy and dense, but flavorful and overall pretty light in the mouth, considering that their potato wedges I could not get enough of these and I'm a diabetic. I really chose my carbs well at this meal they were totally worth it. I am absolutely coming back. This place is fantastic and my waitress gosh I wish I remembered her name. She was wonderful. The place is really well put together and is a very handsome bar it's mostly very wooden and heavy duty. The ambience is something for everyone on the TV or you can just chitchat. They even have this little side room that is nice but beware and bring a coat or a sweater cause it does get chilly in there. They're always seems like a really great group of people there and our favorite waitress is KB/Kristen. She is truly amazing and very attentive, but not annoying. Warning: Make room in your fridge... because You will definitely bring leftovers home. This meal can feed a family of 4 Easily!! Their Cajun quesadilla is delicious and it does have a nice little zing. Their traditional wings are amazing and their beef stew is delicious and very hearty. We have tried many of their specialties. The Hail Mary is a delicious Caesar salad on top of chicken cutlets and their Broccoli Chicken Cheesesteak is amazing. I recommend you get it pressed on the grill and that way it won't fall out as you bite each delicious bite. I would say 80 to 90% of the visits that we have had at this amazing establishment. We always bring home leftovers. So be aware that you were going to have lunch for tomorrow. You will get to the point where you will just think of something to eat that they have on their menu and your mouth will just start to drool. We definitely recommend going. The portion sizes were generous; both my burger and the Cheesesteak Deluxe were large enough that we brought leftovers home from both entrées. Cons: Unfortunately, the drinks were not good. I ordered a Downeast Cider on tap and it tasted like the line may not have been cleaned recently. My companion ordered a cosmopolitan that was essentially undrinkable--extremely strong and not well balanced. We later learned the bartender is new, so hopefully that improves with experience. The wings were also served cold, and the Jammin' burger came out without the bacon jam that's supposed to be a key part of the dish. The restaurant itself is also very tight quarters. If you prefer more personal space or feel more comfortable in places where it's easy to move around or exit quickly, this may not be the best spot for you. Overall: The staff was very attentive and clearly tried to make things right after several mistakes occurred. They comped our soda, appetizer, and dessert, which we appreciated. However, given the number of issues during one visit, I'm not sure we'd return.
