Upon arrival, the parking lot was packed and chaotic, with numerous drivers seemingly unable to navigate the lot in an orderly manner. Rather than deal with the situation, we left and went somewhere else. Fast-forward to August 18, 2026. We were invited to a group prix-fixe dinner here, so avoiding the restaurant was not really an option. Unfortunately, the evening confirmed that our first decision to leave had been the correct one. I arrived at approximately 6:00 p.m. and pulled into the only available parking space. Another patron immediately began aggressively honking his horn. After I parked and got out, I asked what his problem was. He said he was concerned I was going to hit his vehicle, notwithstanding the fact that I was parked approximately four feet away from it. Another person then inserted herself into an interaction that did not involve her. I addressed that and moved on. I will leave the commentary about the clientele there, except to say that the atmosphere outside the restaurant was an unpleasant preview of the evening. The restaurant itself is apparently regarded as acclaimed. Based on what I was served, I cannot understand why. The opening meat and cheese board appeared dried out, as though it had been sitting uncovered for an extended period. The olives were submerged in what tasted indistinguishable from jarred giardiniera-style pickled vegetables. If the preparation was house-made, it nevertheless replicated the flavor and texture of a commercial jarred product remarkably well. The olives themselves were poor. Next came a fried cheese-filled ball that was extraordinarily greasy, to the point that oil was visibly running onto the plate. It was unpleasant to eat. The lettuce course again incorporated what appeared to be the same giardiniera-style pickled vegetables, adding little beyond repetition. The main course was paella with clams, shrimp, and baby octopus. The clams were overcooked. The shrimp tasted, in my opinion, as though they should never have been served. The rice was dry and crusted rather than properly cooked and integrated into the dish. A separate carving board was no better. The chicken was among the driest I have ever been served. The sausage was overcooked. The steak was both greasy and overcooked. There was no point during the main course at which I thought the food approached the reputation this restaurant apparently enjoys. I have eaten at many restaurants in Fairfield, and this was, without qualification, the worst meal I have personally had here. A restaurant that trades on an acclaimed reputation should be capable of executing basic food preparation competently. On August 18, 2026, this restaurant did not. The food was dry, greasy, overcooked, repetitive, and deeply disappointing from beginning to end. The worst part of the evening if all that was experienced, wasn't bad enough; was at the room was filled with flies that were buzzing all around that you had to wave away from the food while you were trying to eat. One star. Based strictly on my experience, even that feels generous.

The salad was bagged mixed lettuce which was thrown into a bowl, bits of wet spinach and wilted lettuce mixed up, it was just AWFUL! So, my "dinner" cost $16.70 with no meat! Now, Galaxy Diner WAS one of our favorite diners but NOT ANY MORE! Unless that owner changes his attitude and cleans up the diner, business will continue to shrink! And IT HAS shrunk! Old Towne has been a staple in my family's life for years! We visit at least twice a month, and frequently get takeout between visits. The restaurant always seems to be busy... even when we go on a Monday night! The funny thing is though, we never seem to have a wait. The service is always friendly; it's not always super quick, but everyone is nice to us, from the host to our waiter. We' ve actually made friends with one of the Sunday morning busboys when we go in for breakfast! I agree with another reviewer that it might not be "fine dining," but it is friendly, and I've never had a problem with anyone there. The food is just as good as the service too. My favorite meal is the cheesburger club, and my wife likes to order the seafood dishes. In our 10 years of visiting, I think we've only ever had to send back one dish. The food usually comes out quickly, and we rarely have anything less than a perfect meal. Which leads me to my next point, DESSERTS! I dont know whats going on here, but they must have a professional chef just making desserts. I've never been to a restaurant with desserts that match what they have Old Towne. Dean (the head chef) has told me he makes all the desserts fresh, and it clearly shows! This is definitely a family restaurant. It gets loud on the weekends sometimes, but even the clients are friendly here. The ambience overall though is nice... there's a small bar but I'm not a big drinker so we try to avoid sitting up there. The takeout quality almost matches the dining room, and they have this awesome special on Mondays where you can get food for 4 people for 25 dollars. The takeout kids are all really sweet and try hard... in fact I think that they are nicer than the waiters! But sometimes I think they get a little overwhelmed... especially when I go in on Saturday nights... But I've never had a single problem with takeout, so they clearly know what they are doing. All in all, I can't recommend Old Towne enough. I always come here when I want a good meal because they consistently give me what I want. read more

Their food is simply put, awesome. I know it looks like a casual place, and the first time we came in five or so years ago, I honestly wasn't expecting much. It's a rather plain looking place, and the lighting there isn't superb, but I just can't stop raving about the food. There is so much on the menu that I didn't think everything could possibly be good; whenever we go, at least one of us tries to get something new, and almost every time, we come away amazed. Most of their food is pretty standard fare (chicken park, fettucine alfredo), and their specials don't seem to be very special perse, but they are consistently delicious. The pizzas there are out of this world. We get takeout at least once a week and the pizzas are consistently the best in town. This fact is obvious because they always have a line out the door, and if you go in at prime time on Fridays, it's impossible to even walk through the foyer. I think that you know you're getting good pizza if there are delivery places in town, yet people still take the time to go out and get pizza from Old Towne. The service is always good, most of the waitresses are friendly, and even though it can be slow when the restaurant gets busy, the waitresses always try to make us comfortable and we never feel rushed even though we've come in late at night. In terms of takeout service, I have to give alot of credit to the teenagers that they put behind that counter. When it gets busy, those kids MOVE! They're all really nice and genuine, and I feel like I get more personal service from them then I do when I sit down at some other restaurants. They're really good about special requests, and my son has an egg allergy, which I've never had a problem with. All in all, I can't say enough good things about Old Towne; if I were to criticize them in two ways, 1: They need to deliver. 2: The lighting is WAY too low, and 3: They need to update the dining room, it looks a little plain. read more

My family and I have been coming to Olde Towne for years and we love it here! The service is excellent, the staff is friendly and the restaurant is always clean. People come to restaurants for the food and let me tell you this food is fantastic, I have NEVER had a bad meal. My absolute favorite appetizer is the Eggplant Torta, which is layers of eggplant, spinach, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella topped with fresh basil and tomato sauce---yum!!! The Olde Towne Salad with grilled chicken, cranberries, walnuts, granny smith apples, gorgonzola cheese and the house vinaigrette dressing, is a meal in it self and a salad I crave quite often. When I am in the mood for a bigger dinner I always get the Shrimp Barbara and my husband get the Chicken Michelina and both are out of this world. Weather I am with my family or in a large group the food is always fresh and served hot. I would highly recomend Olde Townw Restaurant to any one who is looking for a fantastic meal and a great price in a friendly enviroment. Avoid this place to prevent a hospital emergency room visit. Never come to this place, they are so unprepared for holidays that they should just close on them. Family came here for multiple holidays, one too many chances given. Food was worse than Bridgeport's streets the first and second time, third time food was raw, severely messy, or horribly presented. Ended up getting food poising during that visit which was the last straw, management is child like with one guy acting like a tough big guy when he's just a baby, woman manager tried reasoning with us when service was beyond abhorrent and we told them we're never coming back. This place should never open on holidays so people could save the hospital visit. Honestly, this place should close all together. Would give 0 stars if possible, sadly it is not. read more
