Went there for brunch on Saturday with some friends. We had to wait quite a while, and I figured we would since I had read really good reviews. After we were seated we got drinks and the waitress took our order. When the food came, someone else brought it out and we basically never saw our waitress again until she brought the check. Everyone at the table had breakfast items and everything was delicious. The portions were large and the food was very tasty. My three star rating is due to the service. This is my second time to the Old West Cafe and once again I will give them 5 stars. The food, service, cleanliness and atmosphere is fantastic. As for Covid procedures they have it down pat. Who needs politicians telling business owners what to do when you have smart people doing what they need to do. After receiving multiple testimonies of how good this place was for breakfast, I finally tried it out for myself when meeting a former coworker for brunch. There's a location close to me that has never looked super attractive just from the outward appearance, but we met at the Grapevine restaurant since it was midway between us. It was a Sunday so the wait was about 45 minutes long. They'll text you when it's your turn to be seated. The helpings are very generous so come with a big appetite! There was so much to sift through on the menu and contemplate - SO many options!! I finally narrowed it down to something. I think I got the "Bronco" which is 1 pancake (flapjack), 2 eggs, 2 meats and a breakfast side. The pancakes are massive like everything else. Had my eggs scrambled, turkey bacon, turkey sausage and hash browns as my breakfast side. They were all good. Yummy hashbrowns! I may have eaten like 1/4 of my pancake. Personally, I think I still prefer Cracker Barrell pancakes but it's ok. This was fine. My friend got an egg white omelet with the fried potatoes. It was the "Farmland" and she substituted the chicken with ham. She only does gluten free so keep that in mind GF menu seekers. She really enjoyed her food as well, and that's coming from a picky eater! Good service, very southern/country atmosphere and large helpings of an old fashioned breakfast make Old Town Cafe an attractive spot for a Texas meal. There so much to explore on that menu. Went to this cafe for breakfast after reading positive reviews, I was visiting the area for the Grapevine winefest. I failed to take photo, but I believe I had the Rangeler breakfast. My plate had a buttermilk pancake that was big as the plate! There were biscuits in gravy, bacon, ham, sausage,hashbrown casserole, and scrambled eggs. (Shared plate)The food was just okay. I was excited about the hashbrown casserole, but it lacked flavor. There were onions, but no other seasonings. I think the biscuits and gravy were pretty good. My server was fast and efficient. Been here a few times and the biggest downfall is the size and wait time. Most recently we were quoted a time asked for our number and when we checked to see where we were in the list we were told that our table had been given away because they took down the wrong number. However, the manager was nice enough to get us taken care of and had our order expedited. If it is the weekend, especially the morning time be prepared to wait minimum 30 mins. The service is outstanding though once you finally are seated. Our most recent server was Josie, request her section if possible she's awesome! Our drinks stayed filled, she made a couple of great recommendations when ordering, and kept out tables bussed as we ate. I highly recommend any plate that comes with bacon and biscuits and gravy! The bacon is thick and cooked to perfection, so much flavor! And the biscuits and gravy are just right, lots of flavor but not overly salty. They have an array of breakfast sides. Staff is great and service is always good. The food; however, has changed. It's like the food is pre-staged and was cooked much earlier. I flew into Dallas and wanted to grab a bite to eat before going to Great Wolf Lodge.. I saw so many good reviews about this place so I decided to try it.. Wrong choice.. I ordered the typical breakfast plate, eggs, meat, 2 breakfast sides.. I ordered my eggs over easy, bacon and a biscuit and gravy and hashbrown casserole.. the eggs were decent, but I mean, they're eggs.. the hashbrown casserole came with old hardened cheese on it which I had to scrape off. The biscuit and gravy was cold and so bland that pepper and salt couldn't help it, honestly i think it was a frozen biscuit that they attempted to heat up.. i thought the items would be homemade.. the only saving grace which deserves the 2 star is their dr. Pepper. It was nice n crisp. I cannot figure out how there are good reviews for this place. I would have had a better breakfast at McDonald's. read more

I would truly rate our visit a 4 1/2 because my husband loved his, giving it a five (5,) and I really enjoyed mine, giving it a four (4). He had the "Curly Wolf" which had hash browns, bacon , sausage, American Cheese , sausage gravy, Queso, and two eggs. WOWZER ... He said it a five (5.). He did not like the hash brown casserole very much, giving it a 2 1/2 or 3, but he LOVED the Curly Wolf. I had two eggs over medium with turkey sausage, and a banana nut pancake. They did an excellent job on my eggs and I believe I told my husband they were cooked perfectly. The turkey sausage was OK, it wasn't the best, but it surely wasn't the worst to me. The banana nut pancake was something I don't normally get. I wasn't able to eat it all, it was big, but I did enjoy it, it was a definite treat. My wife had the cowgirl breakfast with the hash brown casserole (recommend) and I had the chicken fried steak with fried green beans (highly recommend) and mashed potatoes. This place caught our interest so we drove from The Colony to go check it out. Looking at the menu, my husband and I wanted to try a little bit of everything. So we ordered the bandit and uncharged our breakfast sides to include French toast and pancakes. Our Biscuit and gravy was suppose to be served in a hot skillet. Our skillets were plastic with lukewarm gravy. The pancakes and French toast were excellent but eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits were almost cold. Hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I've been there twice now when in Grapevine for business meetings and it's better than any breakfast place in California. The gunslinger is my go-to. Chicken fried steak is great. My buddy had the chicken fried chicken and that was actually way better. I'll be getting that next time. Beware though: it's more food than you'll probably be able to eat. I can put a hearty meal away and I can't come close to finishing this meal. We came here around noon on Sunday and even though it was packed and busy, we only had to wait 15 minutes for our table. The parking was limited, staff was nice, and the service was quick. Hers - Curly wolf. This plate was packed with all the breakfast meats. The bacon was thick and crisp. If you're looking for something hearty with a boat load of carbs, this is the meal to get! His - Stage Coach with a side of French toast. The gravy had ample amount of sausage. The hash browns were slightly browned and the biscuits were fluffy. The cinnamon on the French toast added the perfect crisp to the toast. There was a generous amount of powdered sugar on it and you don't really need to add much syrup since the toast was perfectly sweet and moist. Found out about this amazing restaurant through a coworker. She told me that if I was going to go to any breakfast spot in the area it had to be Old West Cafe. My mom and I showed up to about 20 people waiting inside and outside of the restaurant. The wait they told us was going to be about 30 to 40 minutes. I love that they have a tablet system where they register your phone number and a text with a link to your place in line is sent to you. The list is updated regularly and you receive a text when your table is ready. It only took about 25 minutes for us to be called and we were warmly greeted and sat down. Our waitress was nice and when she found out it was our first time here she recommended the French toast. I decided to get their french toast meal that came with two eggs, two meats, and a side. I decided on scrambles egg whites, Turkey sausage, and hash browns as my side. Their menu is extensive with tons of breakfast and lunch options. I love that they have turkey sausage, Turkey bacon, fruit, and oatmeal available as their sides. Most of their food is huge, particularly their chicken fried steaks, burritos, and pancakes. The French toast was just right. It was so crispy, sweet, and just melted in my mouth. It really did not need any syrup because of the cinnamon, powdered sugar, and the butter. I absolutely loved every single bite. My mom checked out their grits, pork sausage, and coffee. Their coffee was very good and strong. Our total for all of our food was just $21!! My husband and I usually call or drive by this place first to see what their wait time looks like before we decide whether to eat here or go to another breakfast place we like. They have a great selection of breakfast dishes and huge portions. We have been sharing entrees recently because of how large their portions are but everything is delicious.
