This is my second time coming here. The staff is truly amazing, and will hear out your every detail. Everything is always so hot and fresh. Had such high hopes for this place based on the reviews. We came on a Monday around 830 after getting back in town from vacation. The place was not packed but high was nice for us. Our waitress was nice. I ordered the Texan omelette with the hash brown casserole and hot iced cinnamon roll. I got my omelette with sausage. For me I prefer like ground sausage but this was chunks of sausage. I didn't love it. It had no taste and the salsa helped so so. Same for the casserole it was bland. My daughter disliked the cinnamon roll but she is 9 so I would say she can be picky. She thought the icing was butter. I didn't try it so I can't confirm. My husband ordered 2 pancakes with 2 sausage Pattie's. No prices listed and it should have asked if that was really the way to go price wise but i didn't ask and the waitress didn't offer. My son got 2 pieces of toast. I will say the pancakes were huggggee. My husband should have just got the one which she did say it's the size of a plate. He didn't finish them all. We had two coffees, a sprite and an apple juice. My bill was $49 before tip... I didn't like that she swiped my card and stood there while I decided on the tip. I wanted to possibly use my cash but it was awkward her standing there me counting cash so I tipped on my card. I asked to print the receipt which I never got so I sat in my car trying to price everything to make sure I wasn't overcharged. This meal is for the hearty. And when I mean hearty, I mean hearty. First of all, the waitstaff is super friendly and attentive. Second of all, their menu is gimongous with so many options and combinations. Chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken is the way to go. Want more southern sides? Warning: each pancake is at least nine inches in diameter (comparing it to a small pizza pie). We went there on a hectic Saturday morning with the wait being 28 minutes, but they called us much sooner. The server was extremely nice and attentive even though she had two other tables that sat down at the same time. She placed our order on the restaurant's issued iPhone so our food came out real quick. For dessert, we decided to split three pancakes between the two of us - lemon pancakes with a side of blueberry sauce and banana nut peanut butter maple syrup. The pancakes were fluffy and heavenly with hints of lemon zest and the blueberry sauce made it even more divine, not overwhelmingly sweet. The prices are fair and the service and staff are wonderful. Both locations (Grapevine and Euless) have treated me well so it's by far my favorite breakfast place in the DFW. read more

We had to wait about 20 minutes & I had for more coffee once but they were hustling to serve all the customer. After that they asked us three more times. I had the HC Cowboy and asked for eggs over easy instead of scrambled; 2 turkey sausage patties & oatmeal (NO UPCHARDE). My wife had the eggs benedict and really liked it. We would visit again and you should too. I hate to pick with a fellow yelper and his review but your $2.29 UP CHARGE was NOT for changing a standard plate, but a charge for your COFFEE. I read your review before writing mine and called the Old West Cafe just to confirm why the extra $2.29 was added to our bill. Pretty good breakfast today. Best local spot that I have found since returning to DFW. I had the huevos rancheros, my wife had the pancakes and my daughter had almond crusted french toast. Portions are large and quality is very good. The french toast was the best meal on the table and the pancakes are light and fluffy. Lots of varieties to choose from. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. Authentic, Texas feel with very friendly service. Prices were very reasonable. About $20 for the three of us. The only negative things I can say about this restaurant is we had to wait about 15min to get seated and the tables have non-movable sugar/sweet n low & jelly containers which isn't desirable when you have little kids. I order the breakfast tacos (bacon, queso, onions/bell peppers & the side of refried beans was a nice switch up), my wife ordered the Migas, and our girls split the kids chocolate chip pancake (one very large one) and bacon. Came here for breakfast and didn't need to eat again until we had a late dinner. OMG, the portions are huge. Don't let the heavy meat sides on EVERY dish scare you away, they have great fruit and substitutions are allowed. My vegetarian daughter was able to find plenty to eat. They were practicing safe serving as we visited at the height of the COVID pandemic. Our server Patrice was attentive and had great knowledge of the menu. The only downside we found was the scrambled eggs could have spent about 20 more seconds on the griddle. Our table had French Toast, biscuits, pan cakes and eggs sausage and bacon and all were great. Once again I am left feeling that I either went on a bad day or that the American standard of "if it's sweeter it must be good!" Is what's convincing everyone to come back here. Weekends are busy, and I'll forgive that. But the staff just didn't seem to know how to cope and were continuously flustered. Our server tripped over his words and needed us to repeat the order no less than six times. There was no offer of water to me when my partner ordered some, and a somewhat shocked look when I asked for a second orange juice which was finally served in a Tropicana portion pack. Other servers literally ran as they struggled to catch up. Some refinement is necessary but the service is atrocious at its current standard. This is a place that really needs to reduce its seating numbers because they clearly can't cope with the number of customers. As for the food? I reference back to my opening comment. Either I went on a bad day or the "if it sweeter it must be good" thing is prevailing. My scrambled eggs were so dry that some portions were crispy, and the rest rubbery. There was a faint air of sweetness in them as well which is inexplicable (perhaps the cooking utensils were not cleaned off beforehand?) The sausage tasted exactly like the smoked sausage you can buy in the refrigerated section in target, and was also vaguely sweet. Bacon was fine but clearly had been cooked earlier and sitting a while and the pancakes? Well, mine were undercooked to the point that the inside was doughy, and my partners 'chocolate' pancakes were the same, but also gritty and tasted like powdered chocolate drink mix. Both were so sweet that it was impossible to actually taste the pancake and instead all you got was sugar. And these were flavored pancakes. But they're clearly pancake mixes done on the cheap. I'm honestly appalled. Despite trying to get the attention of a server to show him or her the undercooked food everyone was too busy cleaning up tables or delivering food. By the way, the cleaning process was something truly impressive to behold. Seconds after a customer left their table no less than three servers descended on it and as though it was something out of a movie proceeded to slide the entire tables contents off the table and into a giant bucket in a singular sweeping motion with his or her arm. Quite disruptive. And with enough force that I got a little splattered with whatever jumped out of said bucket. DFW is full of incredible breakfast options. So honestly, why come here? It's very clearly struggling to cope and is mediocre at best in the quality of food. Why settle? It certainly charges a premium like it's an above average breakfast place which leads me to believe it's a tourist trap for folks nearing the airport. Honestly you can do better. read more

HOLY TEXAN COW! This place has, by far, the BEST french toast I've ever had. My husband and I both had a French toast entree and everything was just incredibly delicious and AHHHHMAZINGGG. Wish this place would stay open for dinner. I would definitely have visited for 'breakfast for dinner' and then back again the next morning. Husband wanted to taste the sausage gravy prior to ordering and was obliged. Price was excellent. Least expensive meal of our trip to Dallas and easily the most food. Food was excellent as well. Two adults and three kids 11 years to 7. Two kids had a chocolate chip pancake (a la cart for $2.99) I believe. They made smiley faces out of the whipped cream I suppose because they knew they were for the kids. Kids dug in before even pouring syrup on top. They were declared the best pancakes ever. Another kid had the cinnamon multigrain and she loved it. I had 'The Boss'. I could have done without both pieces of bread being smeared with peanut butter, but the bananas were fresh and the toast was crunchy and sweet. Peanut butter syrup was delicious. Husband had 'The Wrangler' and shared several things with the rest of us. I loved the hash browns--some crispy and some soft. Yummy with the jalapeño ketchup. It's never bad, always consistent, "down-home" style. Breakfast food the way God meant it to be. I LOVE the Curly Wolf. Way more food than should be allowed by law: breakfast potatoes (cubed taters), queso, ham steak, biscuit, sausage patties, cream gravy, eggs, and bacon. It's overwhelming but OH SO GOOD. But your server will be either excellent or miserable. They don't have average servers here. I've had excellent experiences and experiences that make me annoyed with the restaurant culture that pays servers only $2.13/hr because I do NOT want to tip a lazy body who won't refill my drink, check back at all, and leave me literally having to ask another server to take my payment because they disappeared for ten minutes after dropping the check. But if you get one of the good ones, you'll love this place. read more

I went to Old West Cafe with my husband and a friend after a full morning of Sunday hiking. While there were lots of people waiting, the time seemed to pass quickly. I like that you receive a text when your table is ready. The hostesses were friendly and smiling. Our server was just as friendly and worked quickly. The coffee was great, always hot and my cup was never empty. The food in my opinion was just ok. The eggs tasted like they came from a carton, the hashbrowns were yummy. I ordered turkey sausage and was given a very small disk like looking thing. The taste was good though. I also ordered a blueberry pancake. It was huge! The size of the entire plate! While it was yummy, it was crumbly and difficult to eat once there was syrup on it. I'm not a picky eater, but I do love my breakfast and feel that it needs to be cooked well given how simple the items are. While this place seems to be widely popular, I'm not really too sure why. To me it just seemed like your average breakfast spot. While I would go again, it won't be our top spot given the wait times are super long for just average food. read more

My girlfriend and I ate here as we were looking for a fun place to have breakfast as she was in town during an layover from DFW airport. LOVED IT! She had the french toast rolled in crushed almonds, FABULOUS and I had the sheriff's breakfast - OH MY - FABULOUS! It was Texas toast with hash browns on top. Smothered in a white cream gravy with chunks of sausage in it with 3 eggs cooked to order on the top. HEAVEN. Did I say DELISH!!! Great ambiance, great service, great food. The only negative is that we had to WAIT 20 minutes when we came at 9:15 AM on a Sunday AM. This place is busy with a line almost ALL the time but SO worth it! GREAT food, great time!
