And best thing was you could sample all of them! like literally go when you have some time so you can sample so many, like maybe 40 different oils and 30 vinegars! We met here to do our food tour, which was great cause we sampled all around the store then got to try some food pairings with their goods! I feel like everyone ended up buying something cause it was delicious! I left with a gremolata olive oil and a 18 year aged balsamic, drizzle those on some mozzarella balls and tomatoes, delicious!! Wow! Really. Wow!! I saw this place in the GR visitor guide at my hotel and thought I might look it up this week. My colleagues and I just happened to walk by it as a happy accident and went in on 2/4/2024. The woman working there was just delightful. Eager to show us everything and had answers to all of our questions. None of us left empty-handed. They have oils and balsamics to taste test and again, just wow! Such a neat, tidy little shop with one of the best store ambassadors I've ever met. It really made my day. I can't wait to try what I bought. read more

We love the shop in our Halmark hometown of Rockford MI . The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the entire town is fun to stroll during the holidays or really anytime with the dam, RORA area ( one of the areas first) , and other specialty shops and restaurants you make make an afternoon of it . Tired of the grocery store and discount club olive oil ( which my not even be really olive oil) this is your place . Many regions and also infused flavors ! I'm partial to oils from Spain as well as the garlic infused but the seasonal with sage is amazing as well . Remember these are healthy for you ! For some reason I always thought Old World Olive Co. is a national chain. Guess what, it's not! They are locally owned and have four locations; downtown GR, inside the Downtown Market, Plymouth, and Rockford. My boyfriend and I are putting together gift baskets of some local products for our families, so we stopped in to see about getting some olive oil. We were greeted right away by Susan and she asked if we had been in before. I'd never been to that location so she showed us around, let us know some of the most popular items, and offered us COVID-safe samples. Their main specialities are olive oils and balsamic vinegars. They come in all different flavors, some of which seem a little odd, like golden pineapple balsamic vinegar or meyer lemon olive oil. Trust me, there is something for everyone here. You can use the vinegars in cocktails, dressings, on ice cream, and as a seasoning for all kinds of dishes. We tried a few different flavors of each and they were all very delicious! We ended up buying a bottle of the bourbon barrel balsamic vinegar which we are planning on adding to an old fashioned in place of bitters. We also got the strawberry balsamic vinegar to pair with pesto olive oil. They also have non-flavored options available. There are three sizes of bottles, we got the little bottles which are so cute and make perfect gifts. Speaking of gifts - they have a ton of options here, including 4 pack sets of the small bottles! I wish they had a deal for mixing and matching since we ended up getting 8 small bottles. The larger sized bottles are a better deal but we wanted to start with the smaller quantity for our families. They also sell wine, homemade pasta, sauces, olives, and small gift items. I've never been that huge of a fan for salad dressings so I'd just do some plain olive oil and dash of vinegar. Seems simple enough right? WRONG this place is like a candy shop for exquisite police oils and balsamic vinegars. The endless combinations and the staff is always friendly and willing to help you sample and sort through all the options. They have tiny baby bottles and that's what I get so I can try out multiple at a time. 4 mini bottles runs you $32 which is pretty expensive BUT you're not paying for a simple oil it's the quality and flavor. It's 100-% worth it. I only use a dash anyway. read more

Oh my goodness what a lovely business!! The vinegars are so good and so versatile you can put them on salad, mix them into a cocktail and so much more. The oils are so fresh and have the best subtle flavor. And to top it off I don't think I've ever received better customer service!! Kate at the downtown Grand Rapids location went absolutely above and beyond for my friend and I to make sure we got what we wanted. I hope the owners know what a star employee they have!! And the young gentleman working did a wonderful job too and helped give recommendations. I wish I could leave a 10 star review. Wonderful experience and products. What a wonderful little place!! There is so much here from unflavored extra virgin olive oils through infused flavors you wouldn't believe! The price is right on too! For as little as $14.00 you can choose an infused oil to take home. I personally gave a little gift pack a try. It was around $25.00 and I get to try 2 balsamic vinaigrettes and 2 olive oils. That's a great price! I was surprised to learn that they actually have cooking classes and you can schedule "parties" on site and catered. It sounds like a cool way to start a date night, couples night for church, or women's ministries outing. I'm really glad I found this place, now my husband just has to hide the credit cards. read more

High quality olive oil is always a welcome gift for people who cook. For me, I'm fine with the olive oil I get at the supermarket, but it's still fun to get high end stuff. This location is kind of small and parking is a challenge. But there's a lot to do around here within walking distance, the art museum is right across the street. I found the sales person helpful and maybe a bit too cheerful but pleasant. There's a pretty good selection, and the recipients of my oil presents always seem to like what they get. I would like to point out that I give this olive oil as presents, I don't "gift" it. When the heck did this start? Oh how I mourn the demise of the American English language. read more

Nice selection, but Ive been to better oil stores. Most of the oil/vinegars we attempted to try were empty or close to it. Staff said they hadnt gotten their fresh shipment in yet. She was nice enough to make us a vinegar they were out of and it was super fast. read more

Old World Olive Press takes the intimidation and trepidation out of purchasing and cooking with balsamic vinegar and olive oil with their fresh, creative options, plentiful recipe cards, samples, and friendly informed staff. Walking into the store, I immediately felt the welcoming, old-world Mediterranean charm of the shop which doubles as a tasting room. The olive oil choices are situated in the front of the house with the back being reserved for the balsamic vinegar options. I was hesitant to sample the oil and balsamic vinegar at first - I wasn't sure how a shot of would taste on its own- but after savoring the chocolate balsamic vinegar, I was won over. The recipe card nearby suggested I use the Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar as an easy-shmeasy dressing for a strawberry salad. Bingo! I can do that! And the Espresso Balsamic offered nearby: apparently a fantastic glaze or BBQ base. How come I never thought to drizzle vanilla balsamic vinegar on ice cream?! After sampling the vanilla, that sounds amazing! Fifteen sample cups later I found more than a few options that captured my taste buds. Check out their cutie-patootie olive oil mini's when you're in as well. These little buggers would've been excellent wedding gift when I was getting married. If I don't buy everything in here for myself, I'm keeping them in mind next time I need a classy gift basket or gift idea. read more

We just bought a couple of bottles of aged Balsamic and 2 bottles of Olive Oil - Blood Orange and Natural Butter. The enthusiastic person there was very knowledgeable and helpful and she really made our buying experience memorable. We are definitely going back on our next trip to Grand Rapids - it's almost worth the 90 minute drive just to go there. Then, you get attitude from a snotty twenty something who works the iPad they call their "system". Oh Old World Olive Press, how I love thy olive oils. I stumbled upon this shop while during a brief trip to Grand Rapids and wow. I would happily make the 3-hour drive from Chicago to Grand Rapids just to shop here. All of the olive oils and balsamic vinegars are delectable, but the Basil Olive Oil is my personal favorite - once you taste it, you will need to buy it, and once you buy it, you won't be able to live without it. This place was fun to shop at. I have never met anyone that knows more about olive oil than the staff here. I was welcomed with a smile and had a good time. I got a tour of the store and was handed taste after taste of oils and balsamic. Everything I tried was amazing and fresh. You will KNOW the difference between the mega mart olive oil and the product from here. If you don't know oil goes bad after time, it gets rancid and looks/tastes funny. Here they know where it was grown and when it was harvested. So you know it is a quality product. read more

I bought the 18 yr traditional Balsamic and the Hojiblanca Olive Oil last week as well as a bottle of Mascato. The olive oil is so green and fragrant and when mixed with the balsamic it makes a Caprese to die for. Pair it with the glass of Mascato and you have my choice for a last meal. read more

I skipped out on most of the art that was on display that thousands come to see....just so I could go sample more of these oils/vinegars!!!! This place is great.....and the staff are very friendly. Yesterday I decided on the lime olive oil and honey ginger vinegar (mix together with soy sauce to make a fantastic marinade for salmon). I also bought the coconut vinegar (white).
