Fun little pub to stop in on a rainy day for a quick lunch or a few brews. Hubby had the "best chowder ever" and I ordered a basket of fries that were not crispy the way I had hoped. 4/5 because hubby loved it and I thought it was ok. I am not one to review but I felt compelled after this experience.... We were threatened and ridiculed by a staff member after being seated as a table of eight... the same person who seated us at this location as a table of eight. It was a tame retirement party. It has been some time since I have been to the ODP but it has clearly gone downhill since the Dolans left. COVID19 is not an excuse to ridicule senior patrons in a rude way and I doubt there is any financial benefit to be had by the business from this sort of behavior. This individual should be fired. There was a bearded employee who bent over backwards to accommodate us after his colleague had been so awful. This individual should be promoted. The service industry needs more service... I'm very sad to see the PEI bar scene in such a state. read more

After dinner in the Gahan House we decided to move along to another spot and keep drinking. Lots of people here were eating and things looked pretty good. The space is big and has a typical pub vibe going. It seems like the sort of place that must be crazy in season, but even a little outside of the tourist season and it was pretty quiet. We originally wanted to eat at claddagh oyster house, with is just downstairs but it wasn't open until 5pm. So we ate our lunch& early dinner at ODP . It was very good! We had a pint of beer from PEI, very different taste than coors light, heavier tasted, and had a bitter after-taste. Not our favor but good thing to try out. We ordered 5 special $1 little willy oysters and there are great ! The blue mussel was fantastic! A must try ! Also big portion as well. Very fresh and tender! Fish and chips were fried to perfection. Loved the fresh potato French fries, however we weren't able to finish them all because me and my boyfriend don't have a big appetite. We were very full, and I almost wanted to packed the fries Togo ! The seafood chowder was creamy and delicious! Had a selection of seafood (mussel, small scallop, fish etc.) little bit salty tho Overall, very nice dinning experience. The waitress was helpful and very nice. I would come back another time probably for later evening to enjoy more Irish feels. read more

Went here for the $1 oysters from 4-6 they weren't the freshest but can't go wrong for only $1. For mains we got mussels and chowder with soda bread. The mussels and chowder were both delicious however the soda bread was not the best. Also in a great location and nice service. Would recommended for a dinner or lunch in downtown Charlottetown. read more

Very basic pub. Looks much better from the outside than it does on the inside. We stopped here during a recent vacation, and wish we had tried somewhere else. There's nothing wrong with Olde Dublin Pub, but there's just so many other places that are better. Location and atmosphere: Okay, so the location is very good, in the heart of Charlottetown. An easy 5 minute walk from just about anywhere in downtown Charlottetown. The atmosphere was so-so. Very typical of an Irish style pub done kitschy. All the decorations and furnishings appeared worn and tired. Or maybe like this place has seen a LOT of partying. But the service was fair, prompt, and no issues getting seated or getting our orders correct. Food: The eats here were easily the most disappointing part of the experience. I had what was purported to be a prime rib beef dip sandwich. The beef itself lacked any real flavor, although it was at least tender. Served on a grocery-store quality kaiser roll. With very flavor-less dipping sauce. And not cheap either. About same prices as other nearby pubs. The other members of our group has similarly disappointing meals. Beer & drinks: A standard full bar, nothing out of the ordinary. They offer local and national beers, wine, and spirits. Overall, nothing jumps out and grabbed me here. Very basic, standard bar, and food that is forgettable. read more

Had a quick lunch here a snow day! Food was delic! Service was good, and super fast. The waitress never asked if we wanted 2 pc or 3 pc fish&chip and gave us three, when there isn't even 3 pc listed in the menu.. Charged us an extra 2$ but we ate it not knowing till we got the bill.. We were across the street at the "in" pub, but service by hot 20 year old waitress was weak as all the 20 year old staff just stood around and visited. Sadly, did not have a chance to eat here and after this evening will not be giving it a try. We were actually having dinner at the patio next door - two of the neighbouring businesses seemed to have paid for a lovely singer to perform to their patio patrons. The young lady was wonderfully talented, and really created a unique experience. At 8pm, the Olde Dublin Pub decided to start blaring its speaker music. Although, I would normally encourage this - this time around it really came off as an f-you to the neighbouring restaurants as the Olde Dublin Pub had purposely positioned a speaker away from its premises onto the streets (where they don't have outdoor seating). Looking around, majority of the customers sitting on the street patio tables were unimpressed with this as if was clearly ruining the mood. And the wait staff said this was a nightly occurrence. Just a jerk un-Canadian thing to do. Please point your crackling speakers towards your own outdoor seating area, and let the rest of us enjoy our evening! read more

Ate here while visiting my in-laws on my yearly trek to PEI and was disappointed by yet another below average restaurant. I had the Irish Times Fish & Chips for 14.95 and it was cold and greasy. Sure, it's a charming pub, and the service was fine, but the food was mediocre. I was sucked in by the Zagat review posted at the door. My fish was comprised of three triangular pieces all the same size and shape, and they were greasy and cold in the middle. If it wasn't for my parking meter about to expire, I would have complained, but I let it go, paid, and moved on, never to return. YMMV. read more

Found this place a little off the main street. Went on a Wednesday evening and had no problem getting a table. There was a mixed crowd of young and old. The service was quick and the shepards pie & Guiness hit the spot. The only detraction from the authentic pub feeling was a giant screen playing sports (would be good for watching soccer...). I would suggest this to anyone looking for a pub in the heart of Charlottetown! read more

I don't usually write reviews, as I feel most are done only if service is bad one time, and no one considers what the staff is dealing with on a day to day. Tonight, however, I needed to write one for the ODB. I travel all over the US and Europe for business and always look for a nice and welcoming place to eat, and one of the reasons I look for an Irish pub or the like. This place is one of those spots. Yes, it was a Monday. However, I would go to this place again whatever day it was. Cameron, my server, was on point, but didn't hover. I never had to wait for a drink, a recommendation or just a check on how everything was. Isaac (sp?) , hope I didn't get the name wrong, checked in as well and they both had several other tables and bar patrons to handle. The food was hot, fresh and absolutely f'ing delicious, so cudo's to the chefs in the heat. I'm glad it's only Monday, because I found the place I will go to for my meals while on PEI. This place should be filled every night. If you haven't been go, if you have been, l'll probably see you there. 10 stars, if I could give them. read more

Great spot for a pre dinner oyster snack and drink. Everyday (Monday to Friday) between 4 and 6 pm oysters are $1.00 each! They also have some local wines available on the menu which is nice because some of the other restaurants don't. The restaurant is up on the 3 rd floor, very much a dark pub style but they have a cute little outdoor patio with a view of the street. The rest of the items on the menu were pub style mixed with some seafood. The service was good and if you are around later at night they have live music starting at 10pm. read more

Pretty good experience here. I ordered the basic burger with fries and it was very tasty--about what you'd expect for pub food. I found the drinks a little bit weak, but overall I liked the atmosphere and the staff were friendly. I found our server was good, but she did not really follow up with us as often as we would have liked when we wanted something extra (e.g. vinegar for fries or tartar sauce). Still I can forgive this because it looks like they are a bit understaffed considering she was responsible for a very large section all on her own! We fell in love in Charlottetown. It was a passion at first sight, just us and plate after plate of $1 per for PEI mussels. We came for a big dinner, but since we got there a little after 4 and oyster happy hour runs from 4 to 6, we never budged. Except to get to the washroom after the beers. Really. We put away six or seven dozen Malpeques during the happy hour (and possibly beyond), savoring each briny, slippery morsel. Yum. They were wonderful, and our smiling server kept 'em coming, and kept our glasses full. We had made a reservation at the beautiful, more formal dining room a few steps down from the pub, but we canceled it figuring we'd be happier upstairs. After digesting the oysters, we went for the shepherd's Pie, which was absolutely the best we've had outside of Dublin (the one in Ireland). Loaded with PEI ground beef, some garlic and potatoes (also from the island), a flaky crust, simply smashing. This was far and away the best place we stopped for dining on our Canadian trip. Being as how it's an Irish pub, the Celtic atmosphere is loose and friendly, the servers happy, lots of beer on draught, and even some live music (though not the evening we were there). This is a little pub where you can grab a shepherd's pie when or if you need a break from mussels, and lobster. Wow, what an amazing pub. Good decor, good service and really good food at an excellent price. We were four people and all of us found it amazing. Super food! Fun atmosphere. Shared menus with the Claddagh oyster house below and both menues were awesome! Designated gluten free items available. PEI halibut with curry was a delicious gf meal. Pretty basic pub style food. Served hot and relatively fast. The busier nights it can drag out pretty good. The servers were always friendly and helpful. Guinness was served, as it should be, on tap as well as a few other beers. The only complaint I would have is that when the place gets rockin'...it gets LOUD. I mean like can't hear the voice of the person next to you loud. And this is before the band starts playing. I wouldn't let that hold you back though. Strategically located to catch the overflow from Gahan. Pub food of reasonable quality, but nothing special. Servings seem a bit on the small side. Bacon-wrapped scallops can sometimes be purchased individually here, but the one I had was really disappointing. (This should not be hard, to properly sauté a scalop, and the bacon should easily cover minor overcooking, but they did not manage this.) They pull a decent Guiness here (a bit cold for my taste, but it recovers quickly enough) but Olde Dublin does not carry much in the way of regional beers. To make up for all that, they have a truly gigantic video screen for sports fans. read more

I come to PEI each summer and this is a must for oysters!! I absolutely love this establishment.

People generally go to the Olde Dublin for the music and dancing, but I'm sure the food is okay too (-- although I've personally never come for the food). The dance floor is narrow, or one might say 'intimate' and very close to the band which is awesome. In the summer the patio opens so you can take your drink out there for a breath of fresh air. The place does get crowded, but in an energizing sort of home-town way. Its a great place to go on a Friday/Saturday night. (Although there is almost no place to park, and I swear someone with a little too much to drink will break their neck on those stairs... but other than that its great!) read more
