I've never been to a pub in Ireland, but this is what I think one would look like! Cozy and friendly. Food was solid Irish fare with a wide variety of drink options. Would go back if I was a local!

Food was very tasty. Ambiance was light but it was a Monday night so understandable. Friendly service and good food.

Came on a Friday with a big party. We reserved in advance. It was very empty for a Friday afternoon. The table got a salad, potato skins and nachos as starts to share. The salad was very good. The potato skins were incredible. The nachos were sadly very bad, as they had little topping and the chips were humid. Not crunchy or soggy, humid. I got the Irish boxty (under traditional) with beans and a biscuit and shared it with another member of my party. The Irish boxty is like a potato crepe with pieces of beef and a jam on top made with apples. The beans were way too sweet. The biscuit was good. The boxty itself was okay. The meat was tough, but the potato crepe was very good, which evens out to being just ok. The portions are huge, so be careful how much you order. The waitress was nice and energetic and she was able to recommend some local ciders and beers which ended up being very good. I strongly recommend the beer in the picture.

I had a late supper this evening at the Old Triangle Irish Alehouse. I've been to their location in Halifax a few times and have enjoyed my times there. I ordered Steak 'n Steak 'n Mashed Potatoes (minus the slaw). I ordered the steak medium-well. While they were tasty, one steak was medium-well and the other was well-done. I was ready to settle up my bill and pay about 9pm. By 9:30pm, I hadn't seen my server in a half hour so I went to the bar to take care of it. There were only a handful of people in the bar so I don't know what happened to her. Once I got to the bar to pay my bill, a couple in my section got up and followed me to do the same. Then our server appeared. She had been a bit abrupt but efficient all night and seemed really friendly all of a sudden. So it wasn't an overly warm and fuzzy experience.

First time to PEI and I went during the off season for business reasons. I had asked about decent local restaurants in the area and some folks in the office believed this is the best local dining around during off season. I had the fish and chips plate which was very good. The french fries are made to order and are seasoned with herbs (I'm guessing basil, oregeno and sea salt). The cole slaw is an oil based slaw which was so fresh I would have to say it was also made to order. It's a very light slaw compared to the mayo based slaws you normally find. They offer a good selection of beer on tap and have an area for bands to play. I understand they have open mic on Sundays and you can often hear traditional Irish music here. The waitstaff was very courteous and attentive and it was very clean. There is a section that has private seating for a more cozy feel. The seats in that section look like booths with full backs that connect to the ceiling.

This restaurant has a complete Irish feel. As a tourist, I found it very "PEI"-like. So the ONLY reason they get a 3/5 is for it's atmosphere. The glasses for the drinks were not cleaned well. I could see the lip stains on one of my glasses. As for the food: Mushroom caps stuffed with lobster: I have had much better mushroom caps at Moxies and the Keg that are chain restaurants. The lobster was kind of chewy. The large amount of butter made it tolerable. 2/5 Lobster Roll: The minute amount of lobster in the roll was not fresh and didn't taste like lobster. The roll was toasted (burnt I'm some areas) and buttery. 2/5 Lobster Fettuccini: The lobster was cooked well and the artichoke hearts were delicious. 3.5/5 Drinks: I asked for a mixed "fun" drink and specified that I wanted a FUN drink. I got a vodka orange juice soda .... That didn't taste like alcohol AT ALL. And it was not FUN. 1/5

The chili dog came in a bag and was difficult to eat. It would have been nice to have it in a cardboard tray with a fork.

Great Food, all four classic Irish beers. Music on Friday is just so so, always a cover band. Tuesday $5 Guinness is the best!

This heritage property thoughtfully balances historic preservation with modern culinary aspiration. The kitchen demonstrates technical competence across a diverse menu spectrum. The oyster preparations showcase particular refinement--properly brined, impeccably fresh, presented with restrained elegance. The fish and chips transcends pub cliché through superior execution: crispy exterior yields to moist, flaky interior, complemented by properly balanced tartar. The house-made charcuterie reflects thoughtful sourcing and curing philosophy. The beverage program commands particular attention--the on-site brewery produces well-articulated craft selections that demonstrate brewing acumen beyond mere novelty. Beer pairings with dishes evidence intentional consideration. The wine selections, though modest, reflect deliberate curation. Aesthetically, the venue embraces its architectural legacy--brick, timber, and original details provide authentic context while contemporary flourishes avoid pastiche. The multi-level space accommodates various social configurations without compromising intimacy. Service delivery occasionally wavers between attentive and distracted, particularly during peak periods. Some dishes prioritize plating flourish over flavor coherence. The basement facilities, while charming, require navigation challenges for accessibility. Yet these minor inconsistencies cannot diminish what constitutes a destination meriting serious consideration. The Gahan House succeeds through integrated vision--culinary, architectural, and hospitality elements cohesively articulate genuine regional pride while embracing contemporary standards. A venue rewarding both casual visitation and intentional culinary exploration.

We had excellent service and our drinks and food were served promptly and with a smile. As we were vacationing on PEI, I wanted to take advantage of every opportunity to sample local fare. The pan fried haddock was perfectly cooked and served with a very interesting chutney. It made a nice change from the usual tartar sauce. My husband enjoyed his burger which also had out of the ordinary seasoning and toppings. The fries were amazing. A lovely spot with indoor and patio seating, I highly recommend The Gahan House if you are in the area.

It came with 4 scallops on top of medium size and alfredo sauce pasta that was very basic but ok, with maybe a couple of very small bacon bits. I ate half of the plate. Another person in my party order the same and had a similar experience. I relayed my dissatisfaction on the meal to my our server, a young lady in her twenties, and I received a curt response that 4 scallops was the expected amount and that bacon was in there. She did nothing further and promptly brought us our bill for $155 before tax and tip. My friend was paying and he felt obligated to tip because 2 in our party were regulars and he didn't want them slighted in the future. No discount or accommodation was offered. I left feeling that I will likely never return and somewhat disappointed because the place has a certain charm and the others seemed happy with their fish and chips and club and fries. We sat outside on Victoria Row, and there was live music from Always on Stage throughout dinner. It created such a fun atmosphere and made for the perfect summer evening. I'm so glad we trusted her because every dish was absolutely exceptional. Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and packed with flavor. The oysters were the standout of the meal and easily my favorite on PEI. Brooke was wonderful throughout the evening. I came without a reservation and they were out of tables inside, but the outside dining area was pretty and clean. It was covered by umbrellas and there were heaters placed around. The food came out quickly for how busy it was, and everything was hot and freshly prepared. Some of my friends enjoyed their food, some didn't. We all got gluten free. Two got the chicken sandwich, and one of them liked it. One loved their fish and chips. I wasn't a fan of my lobster roll. The gf buns were Udi's, which are very dry and crumbly. They fall apart if they get squished or pressed, and if they get moist. I do appreciate that they have gf buns, but I wish they were good ones. We all enjoyed the fries. They were careful with cross contamination, and pan fried the fish to make sure it wasn't contaminated with gluten batter. I really liked how clear the menu was with what is and isn't gf. We asked a server if the fish and chips was dairy free, and she said yes. Then a different server ran over and told us it was not. They *can* make it dairy free but since we didn't ask for it, they hadn't. They offered to remake it, but we didn't need it to be, we just needed to know. Parking was a struggle but that's expected, not holding it against the restaurant.
