Have been enjoying amazing fish & chips here for the last 8 years now !! It is a family run restaurant with roots in England , so the fish is prepared in a very Yorkshire way, thin batter, crispy on the outside and just the right texture inside. The fries are hand cut and again fried perfectly. Their house tartar sauce is very flavourful . I should be a traditionalist and have Haddock but I enjoy the Halibut a lot ( I guess because I am Canadian!!) . The house special which comes with fish & chips, tea, coleslaw and buttered bread with gravy is quite the meal. The service has always been exceptional, welcoming and with a big smile. The whole team makes sure your visit is satisfying. The restaurant is still in its original location since 1929 ! There's ample seating and parking

Halibut and chips!

Went back to my fave place for fish and chips in the city of Toronto Or Even the GTA. Duckworths on the Danforth didn't disappoint. Ordered the halibut special on Monday's A halibut and chips for only $12.50. For that price and the amazing quality of the halibut, you can't go wrong. I only wish I still lived in the area. It's quite a drive to get there now, but I wouldn't hesitate to travel there to get this amazing deal. Btw, their regular price is still awesome at $13.75 for a Great Tasty Crispy Fresh Flavourful Halibut & Chips Truly the BEST in the GTA On my recent search around fish establishments in Toronto. I am brought back here And Nothing tops Duckworths on the Danforth.

Seafood platter (half portion): Halibut, haddock, shrimp, scallop, chips, coleslaw

I can't believe I'm giving a fish and chips spot 5 stars. Friggin fish and chips?!?!? But Len Duckworth does the whole fish and chips experience absolutely right. The place is homey (I'm generally suspicious of fancy fish and chips places) and the service is casual yet efficient. The fish (and other seafood) is meaty and sweet. The batter is not overly crispy, not overly thick, and not soggy (even with takeout). The chips are fat and tasty. I have to say it: Len Duckworth is my favourite fish and chips spot in the city!

We got the halibut special (one fish, small fries, small coleslaw, and a pop) $19.50 and a haddock special for $17.50 4 stars for the fish - not too greasy and had a thin batter. Lovely. Overall a 3.5 experience. The chips were not as crispy as I thought based on other pictures and reviews. Coleslaw was very heavy with mayo but had great taste. It came with a basket of bread which was a nice surprise. Service was great, food came out quick fast, quick turnover - lots of tables. The place smelt quite smokey and deepfried with the ac blowing - be prepared to wear clothes you don't mind throwing in the wash right away. Would definitely tell others to give it a try. Maybe go with haddock or cod as it's $2 cheaper with the meal and if you're not a fish connoisseur it won't make a difference for you.

Came by to get lunch take-out because of the great reviews online. They sure surpassed my expectations. They absolutely now one of my new favourite fish and chip place! [ Haddock ] - The batter is light and crispy which complements the haddock extremely well because you get a nice crunch biting into it and it doesn't overpower the taste fish itself. *The light batter helps so much on not feeling greased out by end of meal* [ Chips ] - I really like the chips here. They're cut thick enough and fried where the edges are crispy and centre is fluffy(just the way I like it). More importantly they stay good up until the last fry. Overall it really enjoyed the lunch and would recommend to anybody thats looking to have top knotch fish n chips. Would definitely be coming back!

With Debbie Duckworth's approval and guidance, I made this sign fir THE BEST fish n chip restaurant in Toronto, a few years ago.

Fish n chips or fish n chips... take your pick. Only FISH N CHIPS here !!! And they ARE the Best. Wanna great batter ?! You're in luck . Good quality fish ? Look no further. This is exactly what F & C is supposed to be. PS... The tasty bread and butter is exactly right lead in to a one-of-a-kind experience.

1/5th of the family #1 meal deal

Busy spot, couldn't do a phone order, they asked us to come down to the store to order. Wife thought that was weird but we went any ways and it wasn't a long wait for our family #1 dinner. Fish was not over battered, gravy tasted like poutine gravy (as per my daughter) which she liked (and poutine is new on their menu), coleslaw was light and not overly mayonnaised, and fries were thickly sliced but a tad soggy. Overall a good meal for a good price. I repeat order is in my future.

Always reliably good fish and chips. Has been for decades. I like the seafood platter, which the other location doesn't have.

Good old-fashioned fish and chips, good slaw too. Not great ambience, but to be expected.

The Favorites We kicked things off with their saffron‑kissed Arancini--bite‑sized spheres of rice and smoked mozzarella, godsends dipped into bright tomato-marinara and pesto. Next came the Pizzano pizza: a perfectly blistered crust layered with pepperoni, Calabrian chilies, fior di latte, hot honey drizzle, and aged Parmigiano--an addictive balance of sweet‑heat and savory richness. The pillowy Gnocchi arrived next--smothered in butternut squash purée, earthy wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, sage brown‑butter, and a final snow of Parmigiano. And the Fritto Misto was a crunchy delight: lightly breaded shrimp, calamari, scallops, all perked up with zesty lemon‑caper aioli. Setting the Tone We started with cocktails, which hit the right note--elegant, balanced, and a little unexpected. They added a celebratory lift that carried right into the meal. Service was smooth and welcoming, striking that hard-to-nail mix of polish and warmth.

Cozy atmosphere and the service was kind, making us feel relaxed. Maybe too relaxed that we ordered dessert even after being stuffed already. Starting with the mvp of the meal, the dessert - Sticky Toffee Pudding, did not disappoint. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was the best I've had. Tender snd delicate cake, ample syrup and the twist was some sort of sour tamarind or cherry candy on top. Perfect! The grilled mackerel was also absolutely divine. Really well prepared and meaty. The mussel dish was incredible too. The broth was gingery, garlicky and coconuty and very comforting to have on a cool night! I wish they had some sort of dry bread to go with it. However, the only bread option, focaccia was ordered. The focaccia was lovely on its own! Not an ideal pairing with the mussels but not bad either. I would absolutely revisit!

We've been here 3 times now and absolutely love the quality of the fish/sashimi! We dined in twice…read moreand ordered take out once. I don't think the takeout platters are offered for dine in - which is one downside if you would like to eat it in the restaurant. Regardless, a great value for fresh and good cuts of fish for the platters! For take out, we ordered two x seasonal sashimi platters to do a DIY handroll and sushi night at home with some friends. The cuts they gave in the platter were premium pieces such as otoro, chutoro, scallop etc. Highly recommend for a DIY food night at home with family/friends! On the website, if you order and pick up yourself it is $120 for ~40 pieces+ and if you order on uber eats it is $140 per platter. We had a group of 6 so splitting the cost is $40-47 per person which is a great value for good quality fish. For dine in - we ordered a few different items and all were wonderful. I had the Deluxe Maguro Kaisen Don (~$50) and the cuts of tuna (otoro, chutoro) were melt in your mouth. We've also tried their set menus and this came with a variety of dishes. It came with sashimi appetizer, pork belly, your choice of udon (we chose the uni, crab and cream udon), and your choice of don (we chose the wagyu). The set comes with a decent amount of food for only $42, very worth the value and we were full! The uni didn't taste fishy, udon was very creamy, and the wagyu was tender in the don. My sister in law ordered a set with many different small dishes on the plate ($40). It was nice to try different seasonal ingredients and sample it in small portions to try it all. The other occasion we had for dine in was a few years ago, and we both had different set menus with Maguro Toro Don and unagi Don. That set was delicious as well and we thought it was cool to pour a broth into the don bowl at the end to make it like a soup. This restaurant is also half market where they sell to-go food/handrolls/frozen ramen etc. The groceries were mainly Japanese ingredients and snacks. The restaurant itself is not to big so it can fill up quick! I would recommend making reservation if you are coming in a large group on busier nights/weekends. Will definitely return if we are in the area!

I eat a lot of Japanese food on a regular basis and love to explore solid Japanese food around not only Toronto but wherever the map takes me. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with their food quality and taste. The presentation is phenomenal no doubt, but it also needs to taste the part. We got the salmon lover Don and two kinds of Aburi. The Aburi was difficult to eat because it kept on falling apart. Not bad, not excellent. The salmon don tasted good initially but ended with an extremely fishy aftertaste. With the price considered, I believe there are other better options. I think if they can focus on sourcing better quality fish, that would significantly improve the taste. Service was quite slow, however, the servers were kind. I understand that they were short staffed and were okay to wait. Overall, not bad, not excellent.
