BEST RICE IVE EVER HAD! Wow, after coming here 3 times now I can definitely say this is my favorite in Asheville! The rice is the best Mexican rice I've ever had, and I'm from Arizona! It's so flavorful and creamy on its own. My boyfriend and I like to share a dish, but have learned to order extra rice on the side since it's that good!!! Their salsa bar is comparable to the others in Asheville and very good. I love the creamy green salsa. The quesadillas here are another gem, with perfectly melty cheese with an amazing flavor. Not sure what cheese they use but I think it's some kind of white Mexican cheese. Service is always good, and I like the ambiance and decor inside. Come give it a try! read more

Well hello Asheville! It is always a good feeling when you find a nice family restaurant such as Ole's Guacamole! So, I tend to forget that I'm in Asheville NC and everything closes super early, but nevertheless it was around 830 pm and I decided to get a quick bite to eat so I decided to try Taco Tuesday and I had 2. Unfortunately I ate them so fast and forget to take a picture BUT I took a picture of the margarita! The service was great and although they were closing at 9, I didn't feel rushed at all. Listen I love Mexican food and I hate being mean on yelp but this was not it. Something was missing from this meal, maybe it was salt but I was underwhelmed. We did go at 2 pm on a week day so maybe it was an off time but it just had no taste. The staff was attentive and service was quick but I don't think I'll be back. We have had a challenging time finding good Mexican food since moving to Western North Carolina, so finding Ole's was such a pleasure. The flavors are absolutely great and not too watered down, thankfully. The portions are generous and everything was fresh. The service was excellent. Our server, Evelyn, was very attentive and she graciously answered our questions. My daughter is studying Spanish and Evelyn kindly pronounced a few words in Spanish for us when we asked her to, which we found to be a treat, as all 3 of us love to learn new things. The atmosphere was colorful and upbeat and I watched my husband and daughter dancing to the music a little bit in their seats as they silently stuffed their faces while they made Ohhhh and ahhh sounds between bites. Breakdown: Food: 5/10. Fajitas reposados were great. Nice little flambé show. Wife's "Chile verde" was atrocious. It was Chile Colorado and the worst I've had. Dry pork smothered in tasteless chipotle salsa. Rice was great. Beans were good. I appreciated the bean dip and tortilla chips. Service: 2/10. Server explained he was new. I was very patient. Messed up thrice on our order. We ordered Chile Verde and received terrible Chile Colorado. Asked my daughter if she wanted a hamburger, she said no, and it was still written into our order. I had to go back and forth with another server about not actually ordering it, which was frustrating and embarrassing... I looked like I was in the wrong. Wife clearly stated my kids were splitting the carne asada plate. Didn't get an extra plate. Also, got a horchata and got a kid's size, with the server thinking it was for my toddler son. I just went with it. Never asked if we wanted tortillas and we never got them. No one came to check up on us during our meal. Overall: 3/10. Fajitas are hard to screw up, and I've had good ones at plenty of other places. Tortilla chips are also hard to screw up. Food was great on some things, but the pork Chile was terrible. The service was the most frustrating thing and damaged the experience overall. read more

Have ordered from Ole's Guacamole many times before with no issues. It is our go-to place for takeout. The food and service is always amazing. We've ordered their Nachos many times before as takeout and while dining in. I hope our experience tonight was an outlier. We ordered takeout and our Nachos were bare and sad. They are usually topped with "refried beans, ranchera sauce, Pico de Gallo, cheese and sour cream". We requested no meat, and somehow none of the other toppings made their way on to our Nachos. Ordered dinner from Ole Guacamole on a Sunday at 6:30 pm through Kickback delivery. Delivery was super fast and food arrived warm and ready to eat (no reheating required). For the longest time, Papa's and Beer was my favorite Mexican food restaurant in town. I think I officially found my new favorite. My husband and I both ordered the tri-colored enchiladas, only mine was made with cheese, shredded beef and steak (his was with chicken). I also substituted the black beans for refried beans. I was really shocked that the establishment got my substitution correct (restaurants rarely do on special orders). The cheese enchilada was my favorite; Although the steak and beef came in a close second. It was plenty of food to feed the appetite. My son ate the kids bean and cheese burrito. It m, too, was a healthy portion. We finished the meal off with desert: churros and cheesecake chimichangas. Holy moly, were they ever so delicious. The perfect amount of sweetness to cure the sweet tooth. Not only do I recommend this place heavily, we will definitely be returning customers. Waited for over an hour and fifteen minutes at the bar while they "looked for our order." The food was messy and cold and the order was incomplete. I called the restaurant once my boyfriend returned with the order and attempted to let them right their wrong. Instead the General Manager, Chris, lied and said that my boyfriend took the food and left without paying his beer tab. I told him he had he facts wrong and that we had a receipt showing he paid his tab at 6:49. I offered to send a copy and then he pivoted to something else. He refused to refund or compensate any of the meal and was rude. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Have passed the restaurant dozens of times at this point, so when I wanted enchiladas Ole's Guacamoles was the first place that came to mind. They have a bunch of mobile order options, take phone orders, and are open for in-person dining, but because there were so many avenues for ordering it seemed a bit chaotic and disorganized. We ordered two orders of tri-color enchiladas as well as a side of guac and a side of cheese sauce, and everything was okay but I've had better in the area. They use grilled chicken and not pulled chicken in the enchiladas so not quite what I was expecting - again, not bad but not what I was looking for. read more

Oh man this might be my favorite Mexican spot in town that isn't a taqueria or a food truck. The molcajete was obscene in a really good way. The salsa bar had a great variety from mild to hot. The chili relleno was excellent the rice was perfect. This place has it down and they just opened. The staff was nice and very helpful. My table of 4 left extremely happy. This restaurant really does have the very best nachos for delivery/takeout. They load them with delicious sauteed vegetables and preferred protein on top. The nachos are still crisp and bright! I went early on a Saturday evening for a few drinks and dinner. They place is surprisingly large inside with all the traditional Mexican decor. Sat wayyyy in the back. Got their chips and warm bean dip served almost immediately. The restaurant was not busy at all. Drinks were good (and strong). Margaritas (of course) were plentiful and varied. There were about 9 different kinds from what I remember. Did I say they were potent? Now about the food and service. Well, we wanted to drink for a while and then order. That should not have meant to ignore us and go away. We were out of chips, and wanted refills on our drinks, for a while. i finally asked a busboy to get the server for us, as I had to do several times during the evening. When we ordered our food, we asked for some water as well as additional chips. We eventually got them after our food arrived. The fajitas were good. Greasy, but good. Then, we're waiting to find the server again, to bring us our bill. All in all it was not what one would expect. Especially in a restaurant that is not that busy. I might try the place again, but for lunch, and sit at the bar. That should take care of the service issue. We'll have to see about the food next time. Until then.... read more

Stopped here, because we happened to be on this side of town. Never again. Food was just terrible. Overcooked/ stale chips. Shrimp undercooked and inedible. Seems they tried to disguise how bad it was by burying it under too much sauce. Lettuce tasted like it had been sitting in the bottom of the walk-in cooler - truly awful and inedible. UPDATE: We continue to enjoy guacamole's and beer every time we go. They did a revamp of their menus, Im not sure how much of the food offerings has changed but aesthetically they are nice. On our most recent trip through, with the new menu, I noticed a cheese dip with spinach and onions and had to try it (were huge queso fans). This queso was amazing!!!!! I might have to splurge every trip to add to our meal. The onions add a nice sweet kick to it while the spinach adds textureand. I'm drooling just thinking of it. read more

Damn I love their food too. Usually my family goes once a week. I went with my husband, friend, and kids. We ordered a ton. Got the check and they claimed their system was "offline" but the charge instantly came out of my account. The "manager" (I put quotes because he needed to have someone on the phone to help him) said we did not pay and I showed him the charge with the correct amount. Apparently I confused him when I asked how his system is offline if the charge came out. He didn't know...but he demanded we pay again even after seeing the charge on my account. Then he started speaking Spanish to the person on the phone, saying we were low lifes who wanted to skip on the check. He didn't know my husband's first language is Spanish. This made manager even more upset and he wanted pics of my husband's ID and both sides of his credit card. We offered our phone number but no way was he getting anything else. In front of our small children, he threatened to call the police and even blocked the doors. So I grabbed my kids and told him to move and little manager man did just that. Fun afternoon. Kids got a lesson on sticking up for themselves that day. read more

Stopped in to check it out since it is near Whole Foods and I love the Black Mountain location. I was pleasantly surprised to see a few more options on the menu. The atmosphere was nice, not too loud and laid out in a way that keeps three main sections, which's helps make a large restaurant feel intimate. The booths were large and very clean. The salsa bar had many options. We ordered an Avocado Burrito, Spinach Enchiladas and because they are not in the menu in Black Mountain, the Veggie Enchiladas. We made some alterations, like no mushrooms, change the beans out for black beans, and they were all no problem. Which is nice and means everything is made fresh when you order. The food was delicious and we had high expectations that were all met. The service was excellent. We have gotten to know people in Black Mountain, so we were expecting just normal service here. But they were all very nice, attentive and friendly. I look forward to coming back when we need to go into town. read more

The food was good, enjoyed the bean dip that comes with chips. Unfortunately we will not be returning due to unsafe covid measures. While ordering the waiter was hovering over me maybe a foot or two between us and removed his mask while describing a menu item. I had to ask him to pull his mask back up. We then witnessed multiple times when the same waiter either did not have a mask on or was wearing it improperly indoors. I wear a mask all day at work as well and understand the hardships, but it's what we have to do to keep our doors open and protect ourselves and others. We decided if we experience this again while ordering at a restaurant we'll just leave rather than put ourselves at risk. read more

They have one of the best menus in AVL and everything is delicious. Personal favorite is the chilaquiles for breakfast. The tacos are also a good choice! Full bar liquor bar and sauce bar! They took our to-go order promptly and even gave my daughter a free smoothie while we waited for the kitchen to prepare her birthday dinner. Usually I don't post things like this but I thought it could possibly be helpful. My partner and I placed an online order. I got the green enchiladas and he got some tacos. Both of our orders were messed up. His was missing this special lime sauce, that was the main reason he got the tacos. Mine had chicken in them after I typed in the notes that I was vegetarian and didn't want any chicken.
