Eaten there 25 - 30 times. Watched as this restaurant has gained friction. Great Tex- Mex with some authentic dishes in the mix. Service is quick, sausa from the bar is great and chips are fresh and great. I've had just about all on menu and all have been very good. Like every restaurant in WNC, they have had problems with staff and challenges. They try hard and have improved on every level since opening. I'm sure foodies can find complaints, but for me, they are great for Mars Hill and this area. They are busy during peak dining hours but get through their wait list very efficiently. They are definitely much better than their Yelp rating and are comparable to anything in Asheville. I feel lucky to have a great "go to" close by. Highly recommend! read more

First of all, it was our first time at Taco Fiesta. The food was absolutely amazing. From the presentation I had a feeling that it was going to be good. Then the first taste of my Birria Quesadella was a flavor explosion. There's was not one item including the salsa bar, that was lacking in robust flavor! Our servers and all other staff encountered there were as excellent as the food. The ambiance was perfect. This was a nice find on our way to Tennessee. The staff were friendly, the place was clean and the food was delicious. I ordered the lunch fajitas with chicken and it was well seasoned and the chicken wasn't dry. My husband ordered the carnitas plate and it was also delicious. Our go-to Mexican restaurant was closed, so we figured we would give Taco Fiesta a try. The bathrooms were clean. Other than that, the food was mediocre and service sub par. Price was reasonable. The beans were runny, the rice was sticky with no flavor, and the chicken tacos were very thinly grilled strips only a few centimeters wide so they were very chewy and looked so odd! I wasn't crazy about having to get our own sauces where everyone has touched and put in small inch wide plastic containers that barely fit a chip to dip in. My enchiladas supreme had no taste or flavor. Our server never came back after bringing our food. She came a total of three times. Never refilled our drinks once. In fact, we asked for some napkins and she never brought them. I asked another waitress she didn't either. I finally saw our server on her iPhone standing near the front desk doing nothing and got up and asked her for a few napkins. Overall, you get what you pay for here. It was inexpensive, but the food and service was pretty bad. Also, there is a mega pot hole in their parking lot almost the width of a car they need to fix if you don't fall in. read more

A nice local place. Chips and bean dip were good but we highly recommend putting some of the spicy green salsa (far left on the salsa bar) in the bean dip for a little extra flavor. Wait staff was attentive but the food seemed to come out randomly... I waited 5-7 minutes after my husband was served for my entree. Our food was good - sizzling enchiladas and a spicy shrimp dish with avocado recommended by our server. Looking forward to returning to this festive and inviting tasty eatery! read more

It was just ok. Service was good. I didn't really like the shrimp tacos and the salad was good but needed some type of dressing.

First time here with wife. We live in Burnsville so was recommended. Rio is in Burnsville but every time I go there my order gets messed up. I order steak nachos and its a runny mess of taco meat and cheese. Probably a language barrier issue. I digress. This was really good food and a welcoming atmosphere. I had boring beef enchilada and beef taco. My wife the taco and Chile relleno, which said was one of her favorites compared to many chili rellenos. The bean dip and chips will fill you up. The salsa bar is great to try a variety. The one on the far left has too much heat for dipping, but pour it all over your food. Only drawback was no liquor license (we were craving a margarita). But they had a nice Mimosa with sparkling wine and she like it a lot. I had a giant Negra Modelo - What's not to like? Great prices, next time I'm getting the mocajete , it looked delicious. Our waitress, Emily, was working her butt off with a 6 top family and at least 4 more booths. Absolutely Amazing, she checked on us constantly and never forgot anything we asked for. She deserves many kudos for her hard work and great attitude. Even have leftovers for lunch because I destroyed the chips and bean dip. Made for a looong drive back to Burnsville. I'm just a gringo but the best Mexican food I've eaten. Horchata, y chips, entonces a mole-all fabulous. Chips were delicious and not a lot of salt. BEWARE of this restaurant. They denied my service dog from accommodating me. The female manager on duty claimed NC law required a service animal ID or documentation which I did not have and told her that no law requires any kind of ID. I have taken many flights with my service dog without issue, and many true service animals do not wear vests of any sort because it's not required. I told her it was illegal and her information was incorrect, but she still claimed ".. in North America, I mean North Carolina" that this was the case. If she would educate herself on the laws under the ADA she would know that her actions were illegal. She and this restaurant discriminated against me and my service dog, either because they do this frequently or because they assumed my small breed poodle (one of the smartest dog breeds in the world and an excellent service dog breed) was not task trained. Again, if they knew the law under ADA they would know that any breed can be a service dog, and it's discriminatory to deny service to someone with invisible disabilities. I would have walked out had I not been here from out of town visiting local family who were hungry, already seated, and needed a place to eat. I'm honestly more offended for people with disabilities as a whole more than I am for myself because if they did this to me, they will do this to others in the future. I encourage others to support other businesses who do not discriminate. read more

The service is pretty good but they add a service charge for debit/ credit cards even after I said I was paying with cash. I wonder if everyone knows this because they sure don't tell you. This is your typical Americanized Tex-Mex restaurant. There's only a handful of restaurants in Mars Hill and it's hard to go wrong here. I'm not sure why the other reviews are so poor - maybe they're older but I've been there at least three times in the last month and things have been completely fine. read more

I think the bad experiences listed in the other reviews are the exception and I hope the business learns from them. We live in Canton NC, but I read many reviews of a lot of the Mexican Restaurants from here to Mars Hill NC. My son-in-law's birthday was Nov 3rd, & he said that he, my daughter, & his son loved Mexican food. So TACO FIESTA II MEXICAN KITCHEN won. Their reviews are awesome, & they have a almost spot-on Health Department record. I called the restaurant to see when a "less busy" time would be on a Sunday since that's when his birthday was. We got there around 4:00 pm, was seated quickly, & the "perky" young waitress came to take our order. I wish I could remember the waitresses name, she said she was working there, & attending Mars Hill University in hopes to become a nurse. I asked for a soda without ice, & I got it. My son-in-law asked her if a specific dish that he wanted, would be enough food for him & his young son. She said, "Yes", & completed taking our order. I did feel that our food took a while to come us, but it didn't matter, because their food is DELICIOUS! The decor was very appropriate. Our son-in-law was very happy to get treated to supper there. If we are ever going through that area again, I hope we can eat there again. read more

I see there is only one other review so it may be that this restaurant just opened. But even though I'd like to give the restaurant a better review I just can't. Stopped in for a late lunch. The restaurant is cozy and small but with an ample menu. That's the only good thing I can think of after our experience there. Ten minutes to get a menu in a fairly small restaurant with five workers, three of whom were just standing around talking. Finally waitress came with menus and after another 10 minute wait we ordered. I had the chicken mole enchiladas and a chili relleno and my husband had a burrito. The orders came out fairly quickly but no silverware. My husband finally had to go get our silverware. Our waitress then came and asked how the food tasted when he returned with the silverware. How do we know? We didn't have silverware and what a stupid question to ask someone who has just been served. Well that's the last time we saw our waitress because she went on break! The enchiladas were inedible - the chicken so dry it must have been reheated in a microwave. The mole sauce was disgusting- not even homemade. The chili relleno wasn't even cooked - the pepper was still hard. My husband's burrito was ok according to him but not anything special. We were ready to go and needed boxes. Waitress still on break. I went to front desk where two ladies were talking and ignored me when I tried to get their attention. Well excuse me; I'm just the paying customer. Finally got their attention and asked for boxes and our bill. Guess what? That took another ten minutes. I left a $1 tip and that was too much. Our waitress was still on break! Whoever owns this restaurant needs to train their staff and get a new chef!! read more

Best Steak fajitas my husband has had in years (his fav Mexican dish)! Taco Fiesta is now our only go-to for Mexican food. Nice variety on the menu and bright, inviting atmosphere. Perhaps short on servers (like every other restaurant these days), but they keep it moving. We eat a bit early when we go because it gets packed as dinnertime goes on. read more

On a busy Sunday, we waited in bar area, service was excellent and prompt I had the Mex. CIty Tacos - Carnitas, Pastor and Chicken The Tacos were prepared well and there was and abundance of meat, however all three were very DRY and without flavor. There was no sauce, no seasoning, very bland. I'm fond of another restaurant in our area (El Que Pasa in Asheville) and their Mex City Tacos are out of this world. The difference is plain and simple - SEASONING ! I really wished some of these restauranteurs, instead of hurredly putting up a restaurant and just slinging food out with no thought, would just tour some of the other similar restaurants and learn how to prepare foods. Was visiting from Tampa, Florida, and this place was only a couple of miles from our cabin. The reviews didn't do it justice. Not sure if it is family owned, but definitely gives the impression that it is. Everyone was so welcoming, and the service was absolutely outstanding. Not sure about NC, but in Tampa, tipping culture is absolutely out of control. Servers do the bare minimum, and then eagerly suggest a 25 to 30% tip. This restaurant... this is why tipping was invented...... Our waitress was so friendly, so considerate, and took the best care of us. Never even had to ask for a refill on drinks, they just magically appeared. The food was good, but the service is what really puts this place over the top. And the check was beyond reasonable. This restaurant is a very welcome addition to the few restaurants in Madison county. We've eaten Mexican food all over from Texas to NC. This is one of the best in the entire local area. They are quickly overcoming small issues associated with opening. Food is great-servers work hard and fast and very polite. They are addressing some current issues like labeling the salsa bar. Planning on being open on Sundays very soon. We really like this place!! read more

We ordered take-out. Carnitas and Molcajete from their House Specialties. The staff was friendly and nice, they refilled one salsa bin because I asked for that one specifically! The food was wonderful. Lots of meat in the dishes. We ate only half for our dinner and will enjoy it again tomorrow! I'm not sure what happened with those that had bad experiences. I went there today for a late lunch with my picky sister-in-law who loves Mexican food. It was nearly full at 2:00 on a Monday afternoon, which we saw as a good sign. The food we had was inexpensive (for these days) and fabulous! Both of us loved our meals so that we actually finished eating them, though when we first looked at them we didn't think it would be possible to do due to the size of our burritos. I've traveled a lot through Mexico, and love tasting the local cuisines. I couldn't put my finger on the regional influence of this restaurant, but my best guess is Jalisco and/or Baja. I didn't see Mayan or Oaxacan specialties, but whatever it was is great. read more
