This is a hidden gem of a hotel...newly remodeled, the owners have thought of every detail...from the ambient heated floors to the oversized rainshower shower head to the yummy gourmet breakfast, this is a wonderful place to stay. WOW! What a spectacular stay! The Olea Hotel far exceeded our expectations and was a total treat! We stayed here for a sister trip/birthday vacation for 5 nights and had an incredible time! The hospitality and customer service is truly top notch and every single want/need was anticipated and met by the amazing team at Olea! From Kathryn greeting us with wine and nuts on our arrival and personally walking us to our room, to Greg greeting us at the incredible breakfast every morning with amazing service (and smiles), and Gretchen helping us figure out how to get our wine safely home after we stressed when we bought too much, the Olea Staff made everything so relaxed, easy, and truly made us feel like royalty!! Also, the BREAKFAST was to die for and changed every day and was incredible every day. I even got a birthday mimosa on my birthday morning breakfast which was so special and thoughtful. They think of everything at Olea and make it all so relaxing and serene. Other inredible amenities include: hot tub/pool open 24/7, adults only, wine in the lobby daily, a fire pit and blankets available for use whenever, heated bathroom floors, and patios that I could relax on all day. The Olea Hotel is a fabulous find in Sonoma Valley. The rooms are modern yet so comfortable, the grounds are lovely with so many areas to escape. My husband and I spent 4 nights here in July and could not have been more delighted. The staff was incredible - very welcoming and warm with great suggestions and always going out of their way to exceed our expectations. Very nice small hotel, new renovations and design are well done and attractive. Finishes and decor are of good quality and bery comfortable. Our room #1 was on the small side, but had a nice entry foyer w/ small table, wetbar, and refrig. The common areas and landscaping are delightfully done and the jacuzzi area and upper patio very pleasant. The main lobby, living room, and eating area are spacious and comfortable done in the same contemporary decor. The complementary breakfast and evening desets were great and very thoughtful. The staff was very friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend staying here and will go back again. There is some road noise, but did not bother us in our rooms. Definitely check out the cottages to see if they are available. read more

Although our stay at Olea was only a single night, it was perfect. Everyone was a delight to work with. The rooms are very new and were sparkling clean. Everything about the rooms were top shelf from the décor to the comfortable bed and the large LG LED televisions including an easy option to input your own HDMI ready devices as well as high speed internet. The heated floors were great and our room boasted a comfy gas fireplace. Our room opened up to a private balcony and the entrance was a short walk to the communal areas that were beautiful as well. Kent, the manager, was very kind and helpful. He gave us recommendations for restaurants as well as potential venues for a wedding rehearsal dinner we will be hosting. Kent also promised us a gourmet breakfast, standard with each room. He was right. A three course breakfast surpassed any I have enjoyed at other bed and breakfast hotels. The kitchen was very large and the chefs were very talented. We will definitely be back. read more

The Olea is a small, but very quaint hotel nestled in the beautiful hills of Glen Ellen. We stayed in a room on the second floor with a great view of the valley. The hotel has a very peaceful and serene feel to it. The actual room is completely modern and contemporary. I felt like I was in a boutique hotel... Such close attention to detail in every aspect of the room from the heated floors in the bathroom and the beautiful shower , to the plush and super comfortable bed. The owners are the sweetest couple with their baby boy - they are great at making a person feel very comfortable. The grounds are exceptional! The on-site chef prepared organic and delicious food! Olea is truly a destination hotel! We stayed in a cottage, which is separate from the rest of the hotel, nestled behind the jacuzzi area. The fruit trees and beautiful landscaping make it very private. The cottages are modern with big flat screen TVs and fireplaces. The EO products are a really nice touch - we smelled like lavender all weekend! This is no typical B&B with a continental or buffet breakfast. Instead, they serve a 2-course breakfast made to order. It was delicious! And they still have pastries, yogurt, etc. if you're in a hurry or want more food. The Hotel has gorgeous grounds with views of the valley. The location is perfect for wine tasting in Sonoma, Glen Ellen or Kenwood. This is what I imagine people who reminisce about Napa before it became too touristy experienced... We had an incredible weekend. And it's a fantastic deal compared to the super pricey nearby hotels. We were already planning our next trip on the drive home! read more

What a gem this place is! Our children bought us a weekend stay for our 30th anniversary and it couldn't have been more perfect. We loved the way the staff made us feel like family as soon as we walked in the door. The rooms were beautifully appointed, quiet and had every amenity we want in a weekend stay. The executive chef is top notch and we looked forward each morning to the delicious breakfast and then again in the evening for our late night dessert treat! Kent at the front desk could not have been more cheerful or helpful. He is knowledgeable about the area and knows the best wineries and restaurants and is happy to make any and all arrangements. He also arranged a couples massage for us and we felt like we were in heaven. So relaxing and peaceful. We highly recommend this place and we will most definitely return again. read more

What a find! Sweet 10-room hotel just down the road from the main drag in Glen Ellen. Warm greeting + coffee, tea, wine + watermelon lemonade 24/7. Stayed in a double queen, #6, perfectly appointed hillside room. Slept with all the window open! Heated floor in bathroom. Extra comfy sheets. Room is not huge, not needed though. Sit on balcony or on the beautiful woodsy terrace. Breakfast is fully cooked and most pleasantly excessive. Chai tea is house-made and to die for. Eclectic DVD collection and computer to use if needed. Wifi fast and free. Did not partake in dessert or PM wine tasting or massages. Next time. This is a charming alternative to the typical large wine country hotel and is way more private than a B&B. This place is a GO. read more

We reserved eight rooms here for guests at our wedding a month ago. The guests who stayed at Olea were a mix of professionals, mostly couples, mostly from San Francisco. They were experienced travelers who know what's what. To a person they raved about the hotel - how nice it is, how amazing the service, how convenient to the desirable wineries, etc etc. The owners are great, and they understand how to provide a wonderful guest experience. I'm not sure how to accurately describe Olea... A gem, perfect getaway, a little piece of heaven... This starts to describe our stay. We were looking for a bed and breakfast for our stay in Sonoma and I came across this hotel. I am soo glad we didn't pass up this "hotel" for a B&B. It needs to change its name to something else bc it is not a "hotel". It is a super adorable, relaxing small boutique hotel.... It's small enough to give you that bed and breakfast feel, but big enough to give you space. Have I mentioned the breakfast?? Ah-mazing!! Loved eating breakfast outside under the trees on the patio. At night they have dessert and wine waiting for you.... Just describing this place makes me want to get back on a plane from Florida and stay a few more weeks! Do not pass this place up. You will be very disappointed! I know it is a bit pricey, but worth every penny! Enjoy! read more

We usually stay at the Gaige House, but decided to give The Olea a try. It did not disappoint! The rooms are very clean and well taken care of. The grounds are beautiful and there are so many comfortable areas to sit down with a glass of wine and enjoy the afternoon. Now, the breakfasts? OMG! They are seriously amazing! My husband and I just spent our honeymoon here, despite being locals; we have two very small children and couldn't travel very far, or for very long, and we just happened to discover this little gem of a hotel on a Groupon search for local deals. I would give so many more stars if I could! Everything about our stay at Olea was absolutely perfect. The little garden cottage we stayed in was beautifully furnished, comfortable, quiet, and felt very private; the gigantic, insanely luxurious soaking tub was just icing on the cake. Lots of people have already commented on how wonderful the breakfasts (included as part of your stay) are, but it bears repeating - both breakfasts we had during our two night stay were some of the best I've ever had. Julie (front desk) is incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful, as was the rest of the staff. The grounds are very pretty/nicely landscaped, and the fact that the property is nestled into the heart of beautiful Glen Ellen doesn't hurt, either. Overall, my husband and I left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and so grateful we stumbled upon such an incredible find. We plan on coming back next year for our first anniversary, and hopefully many more to come. read more

Olea is like a dream. It's located in the countryside of the charming town of Glen Ellen. Surrounded by Oak and Olive trees this property is such a quiet, relaxing retreat. It's close to dozens of wineries and restaurants, but tucked away so that you really feel like you are getting away from it all. Upon check in we were given a wine passport that gave us free or discounted tastings at a number of local wineries, we were also given a map of the area and restaurant recommendations. Each night there is a wine and cheese hour and a gourmet breakfast is also included each morning. They also offer a number of common areas for guests to use, we really enjoyed sitting out on the patio to read and relax in the evening. We loved our stay here and can't wait to come back. read more

I took my very difficult to impress partner here for his birthday. LOVED IT! He was happy so I was, too. Lovely grounds, renovated clean, comfy room, pleasant hot tub, nice shower products, warmhearted staff, 24/7 tea, wine and fruit, delicious breakfast. If you need rest and a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, you can't go wrong. We went on a week night so I think this hotel is reasonably priced for what you get. We can't wait to visit again. BTW: even though this property is located on an upslope, it is very accessible with ramps and lifts. read more

As a Certified Executive Chef, an adjunct instructor in hospitality courses and a GM operating many food service operations at a large community college, I can't praise the Olea Hotel and its staff enough. Our stay was exceptional. We had an upgrade to one of the cottages which are simply charming, impeccably maintained and perfectly designed with instant ambience of a gas-fired stone fireplace. As you walk up to the cottage you are greeted with the warmth of the homey feel from a front porch that includes a quaint settee; perfect for enjoying a glass of your favorite wine from the local winery or a wonderful glass of wine that is provided from Olea's credenza located in the foyer. The grounds are quite nice such as the jacuzzi area surrounded by beautiful varieties of fruit trees, plant and vines over trellises. Near the lobby is a few areas to gather sit in the shade and enjoy. Next I want to praise the staff. such a warm welcome from Gretchen who creates the feeling of welcoming you into her home even though it is owned and operated by the Patels. She provided a gracious tour to our room upon our arrival and gave wonderful recommendation to surrounding wineries. The facility is operated by the Patels and they do a wonderful job supporting their staff to do his and her best. Dinesh Patel brought us our breakfast each day. He was so sincere and concerned about our experience and described all about the meal that was to come. Kudos to the chef; we thoroughly enjoyed each culinary creation. Beautifully presented as well as a perfect blend of taste and textures. The breakfast was brought from the kitchen, which you can see from the dining room. My wife and I spent a beautiful two days at the recently renovated Olea Hotel in mid-September. The hotel is perfectly situated on a quiet, wooded hillside in Glen Ellen. The rooms are contemporary and the bathrooms even have heated floors. In the room Wi-Fi is free and business quality. I measured the up/down link bandwidth to verify this. They both were 28.5mbps. There is a large, hillside patio and path behind the main building accommodated with chaise lounges, tables and chairs for relaxation. Similarly, the rooms are accessed via a covered porch with chairs placed outside of the doors. Our room was #8 and the view from the porch opened onto the Sonoma Valley. Simply beautiful! The dinning area is like a cafe with a full kitchen, and the breakfast is really "haute cuisine." The chef, Kahmbei, prepares dishes comparable to those found in the best restaurants in the Sonoma, Napa Valley region. To begin with all of the ingredients are organic and this includes the pork for the sausage which comes from black, free range hogs. The preparation is superb down to the finest detail. Kahnbei specializes in pastries and with our sunny side up eggs we were served corn muffins made with olive oil and rosemary. The rosemary was like the hint a subtle perfume. There were ample pastries to accompany the breakfast and my wife loved the apple cake as well as the home made granola. During the day there are snacks, coffee and tea. We particularly enjoyed the cured olives served in closed glass jars. Just take one or two jars outside or to your room to enjoy. I believe the coffee is locally roasted and is as good as you will find at the best coffee houses in the bay area. Starting at 7:30pm wine and desserts are offered. During our stay Khambei made carrot cake and tiramisu. Both were irresistible. Finally, the service is impeccable. No detail is ignored to make your stay a memorable one. We feel like we've found a home away from home and will surely return. read more

Our room was beautiful with so many wonderful amenities - down to the heated bathroom floor. They have outdone themselves on the remodel! We thoroughly enjoyed our dessert and port after dinner. Olea Hotel is perfect in every detail. The setting is beautiful under the oaks and the landscaping and patios are carefully and tastefully designed. We stayed in the upper garden cottage and had the best night's sleep we've had in a long time. The staff and owners are warm and helpful. In fact, I had made the reservations for the wrong nights and one of the owners called many places to find us an acceptable substitute room on a busy Friday night. We were so happy to move to the Olea for Saturday night, and they got us in early so we could be ready for the late afternoon wedding we were attending. Finally, they were able to rent the room for Sunday night and they credited us for that night. Wow. We were lucky and yelpy to find this wonderful place. Oh. And breakfast. To die for. Croque Madam with sunny side egg, haricot verte, frisee, and fingerling potatoes. Mmmmmm. read more

We absolutely LOVED the Olea Hotel! This was the first hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon trip and was our favorite! Olea is perfectly located in the cute & small town of Glen Ellen (filled with a few great restaurants only about a mile away from Olea) and is right in the middle of Sonoma wine country. The service / hospitality here was excellent & so friendly, and their complimentary 2 course breakfasts were some of our favorite meals on our trip (and we visited many highly rated restaurants!). The rooms were modern, clean, and the heated bathroom floors were a nice touch even in early summer. We were skeptical when we heard that there was construction going on at the hotel, but our room was located literally adjacent to the construction and we were not disrupted whatsoever! Definitely would stay at this hotel again if we make it back to Sonoma! read more

This is our second visit to Olea Hotel and it was as wonderful as the first visit, if not better. We got to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms (although the entire hotel is newly renovated, these rooms were just completed a few months ago) and it was immaculate with comfy linens and pillows. This time we took advantage of the on-site massages and had a couples massage. My husband said it was the best massage he's every had! Although everyone raves about the breakfasts, it really cannot be repeated enough - they are simply gorgeous - amazingly delicious and a true highlight. All staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating but also low-key, which makes for a relaxing stay. We really appreciate all the extra touches, like wine available throughout the afternoon, coffee and tea throughout the day and evening, a wide range of DVDs and games to borrow (no need to sign them out) and even complementary snacks in the guest rooms. We can't wait for our next visit! read more

Possibly the nicest hotel/Inn, we have ever stayed at. My wife and I travel a bit, as I am retired and she works for a local school district. The room we had at the Olea was comfortable, clean and inviting. Sometimes, when staying at a hotel, I see mold and mildew especially around the shower/bathtub. There was none here. All the staff were accommodating, and gracious. We were greeted warmly and treated like family. We were shown to our room and all the remote controls ( TV, heat & air, and bathroom floor, yes the floor was heated.) were explained. There is also free WiFi all over the property. In the evening they lay out fruit and wine, and light the fire pit. The staff were also very helpful in giving directions and recommending places to go and eat. (The Glen Ellen Inn had really good food, the Glen Ellen Star, not so much.) A full breakfast was served every morning until 10:30 and it was so good. The bottom line is that we highly recommend the Olea Hotel, and hope to return soon. read more
