The location is excellent, with the plaza, downtown restaurants, shopping, and a lovely park all within easy walking distance. Parking was also convenient and free. Throughout our stay, the staff members we encountered were pleasant and welcoming. The inn also offered complimentary wine-and-cheese each afternoon, which was a nice touch. Our first-floor King room (number 7) overlooked the parking lot and was located right off the lobby. The room was dark, dated, and much smaller than expected. It felt sparse and lacked adequate horizontal surfaces. With only one luggage rack and limited space to set luggage, our second suitcase had to sit on a small corner table. We requested an additional rack, but none were available. The décor was underwhelming--blank walls with no artwork, covered hanging light bulbs instead of bedside lamps, and two chairs that looked in need of reupholstering. While there was a fireplace, using it comfortably required moving furniture, which then made circulation around the bed tight. The bathroom also needed updating; it was small with a tub/shower/plastic curtain, poorly lit, and had minimal counter space. A permanent sign instructing guests to run the sink slowly--due to known drainage issues--was an unfortunate detail that stood out. And the downside of a first-floor room with limited sound insulation was significant noise from the room above as well as in the hallway, which was at times disruptive.  Breakfast was included and changed daily. Chef Sal deserves particular praise--his breakfasts, homemade breads, and cookies were excellent and easily a highlight of the stay. The only disappointment at breakfast was the coffee, which was extremely weak and never hot enough. Fortunately, there's a Peet's Coffee directly across the street, and judging by the number of fellow inn guests we saw there each morning, we weren't alone in that assessment. Overall, while the location and breakfasts were strong positives, the room quality made this stay a disappointment given the price point. There are likely better options in the area. On a positive note, we continued on to Milliken Creek Inn in Napa (another Four Sisters property) which we found to be outstanding in every respect-a gorgeous, impeccably managed property.

Cottage Sonoma agreed to a longer rental as they knew we were in a bind, but I believe they are normally shorter term vacation rentals. The house is wonderful. It is the most prepared and stocked vacation rental I have ever been in. The owner's have tried to think of everything that could improve a guests experience. A kitchen you can truly cook in - and we love to cook. The house gets a ton of natural light and has a warm feeling to it. It is located about a 1 minute walk from the Sonoma Square so the location basically couldn't be better. The back yard is gorgeous, private, and the hot tub works wonderfully. Yogurt and granola. All before the menu comes out with a custom made hot breakfast. My wife got avocado toast and I got an omelette. Both came with house made potatoes and mine had an option for a variety of toasts to choose from. All delicious and a great way to start the day. Really grateful to have found this place and already thinking about when we could go back. Also, perhaps most important, it's walkable to just about everything downtown, including the oxbow market and all the restaurants and shops in between, of which there are many.

It had a heart shaped soaking tub, a large shower, a comfortable bed and a fireplace that was very powerful. They cook your breakfast fresh every morning and you have a choice between their regular menu items or the special of the day. They also have a yogurt and juice bar. They bring out coffee by the carafe. I ordered the avocado toast each morning because I loved it so much. He ordered the specials each morning and no matter what we ordered, it was delicious. They have free parking in the back and it's easy driving distance to downtown Napa and the Valley wineries. I definitely recommend The Inn on First.

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The lady who assisted us was incredibly kind and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. Her warm hospitality truly made our stay even more special. The cottage was cozy, romantic, and just what we were hoping for. We especially loved the jetted tub, it was so relaxing and exactly what we needed. The scenery around the property was beautiful and peaceful, creating the perfect atmosphere for a birthday getaway. The thoughtful touches meant so much to us, the wine bottle and the birthday wishes were such a nice surprise. I hate to give this review but wanted to let potential guests know that the value didn't equal the price. Ed and Mimi were very nice hosts. The breakfasts were homemade and healthy. Most everything came from their garden. The beds were comfortable and my room was fairly large. The problem is the farmhouse is a little run down. I had ants in my room, the deck was covered in debris from the various trees. Very close to St. Helena off a busy highway. It was not hard to get in and out but it wasn't the quiet place advertised. Again, nice people, the Inn just a bit worn.
