My boyfriend and I were hesitant due to the restaurant being attached to a gas station. But Oli definitely has coined the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover". The Foods was fresh our waiter was super friendly we even had the choice of how spicy our salsa would be. If you're looking for authentic Mexican this isn't the spot but if you are way out here this is as authentic as you will get. I would recommend the tacos as they were they were flavorful and the enchiladas were okay. We gave it four stars cause against its locations next to a gas station it achieved all we were looking for. The food is very good, however I miss the happy hour food. We went in for lunch today and the menu had changed. I ordered the vegetarian tacos and they were great, but they didn't come with the pico sour cream and guacamole that the menu specifically says they do. I asked out very sweet waitress to check on it for me. She returned and said the cook said that those items were not included. I should have taken pics but I didn't this time...so my apologies up front. Wait was non-existent like most places these days....love that. First impressions is Oli's was busy and active. Patrons seemed happy and content. Great date atmosphere for casual dining. We sat out on the back deck which was nice...it was cooler than normal this particular evening. Our waiter came up and took our drink orders. Took about 10 minutes to get them, then after about 15 minutes he took out order. He was much more interested in talking to a couple seated across the deck from us. He even sat down with them a couple times to have a nice leisurely conversation. I was beginning to get upset but then he took our order and the food came out pretty quick. I ordered a burrito which was absolutely 5 star awesomeness!! It was almost more like a chimichanga. sp? I love it...beans and rice were good, salsa was just OK...haha and they charge you for salsa and sell it if you want to buy some. Na, I make better at home so they won't sell any to me. But anyway, I think it's the best Tex-Mex / Mexican food I've found in town. Service was awful, the waiter actually apologized and admitted he sucked which is interesting. That means he knew he was doing a horrible job but didn't care enough to do better. First Mexican food restaurant I've been to in Texas that didn't offer chips and salsa upon being seated and kitchen took a bit longer than expected to get food to the table. We had delicious charro and black beans, both perfectly seasoned. The pork tamale was good, the portabello and spinach enchilada was very good and the chicken enchilada with green sauce hit the spot. Strong iced tea was appreciated. We will definitely return to try some other dishes. read more

Finding this Mexican restaurant in Marble Falls has been a real treat. Their food is exceptional and their service is outstanding. We were there for a late lunch at 2 PM and was given the lunch menu which didn't have the Chile Arellano listed. I asked the waitress if they could fix it and after checking with the Chef, they agreed. It was the best that I have ever had. Since moving to the new location I decided to try them out. Let me tell you... TERRIBLE!!! They said they had curbside.. so I took my toddler with me. They most certainly did not have curbside! I had to leave my toddler to go inside to pay and pick up my food.. also they have no sign outside by the curbside sign that says only cash! So I pay for my terrible,cold, enchiladas not barely cooked, over priced food to get home and they completely messed up my entire order!! It was like we received a different tables meal. 4. When we got the right food it was fair. Not bad. Not great. 5. We had to ask for salsa for our chips. They charged us $4 for salsa. My husband and I had heard about it from a neighbor and on this particularly drizzly day we decided to check it out. Located in Blanco County, Oli's is off of highway 281 north of Johnson City. It's next door to a gas station and, unless you have a need to stop for gas, driving at approximately 70 mph it goes by in a blink. As soon as we stepped in, we felt as if we had walked in to a familiar place. The decor is a mix of retro photos to include Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis and others, and Texas establishment gotta-haves such as cowboy pictures and steers. Seriously ... wall mounted steer heads. Love it! Our server, Jimmy was fabulous! Not only did he greet us with a genuine smile but he treated us like we were the most important people in the place. There were other customers seated and he treated those people the same way. Now the food. OMG! First, their menu was extensive and comprised of everything from Mexican dishes to Spanish style food (and more). However Oli's has taken these traditional recipes and turned them into culinary masterpieces without compromising the original flavor. For example, the savory ground beef had not been mixed with beans and cheese causing it to lose its own flavor. All these items were masterfully combined on the plate, but one was not lost in another which let you appreciate each bite to the fullest. I'm not a chef nor a cook but I could appreciate all the amazing flavors coming through on this dish. I imagine this must be the case with their other dishes. On the healthier side, they also offer bowls filled with either rice or salad (very fresh and varied ingredients) then topped with a protein of your choice. Again presented with style. We were so impressed with what we had eaten to this point that we had to try out the desserts. We like flan which they have but opted for the coconut cajeta ice cream. This is one of those occasions when you say to yourself, "Life is too short. Eat dessert first." Out comes a bowl with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream which had been rolled in toasted coconut, stacked on one another ribboned with cajeta, with a strawberry on top which had been split to look like a cactus flower with a dab of whipped cream in it! Oh and a drizzle of raspberry syrup on the serving plate for an added flavor kick. It was delicious! I really can't do justice to this place trying to describe the experience. In short, you would never think a local restaurant, located next door to a gas station, on the side of a busy U.S. highway could produce such delicious cuisine. And while the atmosphere/decor was relaxed, the service was cheerful, the portions were generous and the food with its fresh ingredients was superbly prepared, presented and downright scrumptious! If you haven't already, you need to check it out. I'd call it a hidden gem in Blanco County. read more

It has not made the cut because they charge for chips and salsa (small portion but very fresh) and if you throw in a very small quest it is $12+. Just a non-starter for us - if you are going be a Mexican food establishment do not charge for chips. Ever. Food was very good but portions again were small. Margaritas were very below the mark. This was my favorite place in the Hill Country for great Mexican food. Not any more. They've started requiring guests to order like a fast food joint. Not what I expected. The food is still decent but due to their new system, we waited 25 minutes to get our food served in plastic baskets...which we picked up, just like a fast food joint. My Mexitini was served in a plastic cup. I sympathize. Wait staff can't be found, costs are increasing, so to stay open, great restaurants are resorting to these measures. Tried this on the great reviews and drove half an hour to get there. Pretty drive through the country and worth the effort. Spousal unit ordered carnitas street tacos on the recommendation of our waiter, Richard. Tender morsels with a tasty side of charro beans and well seasoned flavorful rice. I had the chicken chili relleno with green sauce (it normally defaults to red sauce but I love tomatillos) and I wasn't disappointed. The sauce was smooth and almost creamy which was different and delicious-probably the best I've ever had. Chicken and green chili were perfectly complimented by that sauce. we ordered a large queso and small hot sauce, they came in the same size container!!! the queso was $9.00 and the container was only 1/2 way full!!!! called spoke to the rudest manager every the owner should be ashamned to have someone like that respresenting his restaurant!!!!! he said that half the container is normal so basically i got 1/4 a cup of queso for for $9.00. i said i ways very disappointed and felt ripped off and wouldnt be coming back and he said good and f off..... so professional!!!!! read more

EXCELLENT FOOD!! If you are local or just passing through, you should not miss a chance to eat here... Tacos were unusually good...Veggie quesadilla was above anything you can find in the area. Beans, rice exactly right. Salsa ( we chose hot ) is authentic and potent. Even the iced tea was just right. There is nothing average about the food here, right down to details. Flan for dessert... incredibly done. Interior is clean, very casual. Service with a smile was prompt, friendly and professional. For us it's the best food in this area. I am a sucker for a chimichanga, and will order one pretty much whenever I see it on a menu. This is not a common occurrence, even in Texas. I eat Tex-Mex all the time, and I notice that the elusive chimichanga is conspicuously absent from most Tex-Mex menus. This is possibly because it's time-consuming to prepare, or maybe it's difficult to keep together when you fry it up, or, perhaps more likely, it's just really hard to get it right and make it something worth eating rather than just looking at. Most chimichangas are like pizza: they sound like a great idea, and when you actually get one it's rarely very good. However . . . Olivia makes the *perfect* chimichanga: the wrapper is a little lighter and crispier than a typical tortilla: it's an assemblage of kind of airy, thin layered textures like spanicopita or a croissant. But it holds together during the frying process and comes out nice and crusty --- the outer layer gives just enough push-back to get a knife and fork into without tearing it up; not tough, not soggy. She tops this with a white cheese, hot enough to be fully liquified, but real cheese -- it will gradually solidify if it lasts long enough to come to room temperature. (This is an unlikely event). The generous portions of meat inside simmer, juicy-hot, fresh, beautifully seasoned, succulent. The front of the house does need a little work, but I am not going to disparage a new restaurant for being new. I think they'll get those kinks worked out soon enough. read more
