And the coveted Five Stars from Barry G. goes to…read more..... The Bottled Olive in Windsor! Here we go. This unassuming storefront appeared about 18 months ago in the strip of shops that are just across the parking lot and west of King Soopers. If I average 10 visits to King Soopers per month, that means I've driven by this place nearly 200 times while staring at the sign, wondering how a shop that sells bottled olives could survive, and just being too rushed to make time to stop in and check it out. There's also a dentist office over in that strip of shops - and I maintain a strict 100-foot rule when it comes to those places (except Dr. Owens....see my Yelp on Owen's Dentistry for more details). ANYWAY... So, why the big delay in visiting The Bottled Olive? Well, I guess, I expected olives. In bottles. I've got nothing against bottled olives. In fact, that's usually when olives look their most spiffy. But I drove close enough to the front a few days ago and saw that they offer infused olive oils and vinegars. Hmmmm...mental note, I thought.... So, today, we made a point of checking-off one of my many mental notes and stopped in to check it out. Two things became immediately clear. First, I'd made a giant mistake by not visiting this place way earlier. Second, this wasn't going to be a quick stop. Samples of dips, jams, mustards, spreads and even Bloody Mary mixes lined the walls before we even got to the showcase line-up of 30+ oils and vinegars at the rear of the store. Oil flavors included things like Blood Orange, Peppered Bacon, Avocado, Wild Rosemary, and Sweet Cream Butter. Next to the oils were a wide variety of vinegars such as Cucumber, Toasted Coconut, Mango, Summer Peach, and Spicy Sriracha - along with some more traditional balsamic options. It was nearly too much to process - so we jumped right into sampling! The flavors were incredible, and the staff offered great use suggestions. They also had printed materials with great ways to include their "O&V"s in healthy meals. The store offers all kinds of popcorn flavorings, lots of unique pastas (imported from Italy, no less), various coffees and teas, and some very cool gift ideas. If I wasn't already feeling terrible about assuming "bottled olives" (seriously?), owner Michelle showed us their kitchen and told us all about their cooking classes and their themed evenings where they prepare 5-course meals for attendees while providing insights on how to incorporate their products into a healthy and tasty lifestyle. We checked out their website and cooking schedule when we got home, and we've already booked the "Backyard Daddy's Grub" cooking event with our new friends at The Bottled Olive at the end of this month! A convenient location, reasonable prices, incredible flavors, friendly staff.... wait for it..... OLIVE this place!

We went to Biaggi's in Loveland for Mother's Day. We made reservations in advance for lunch…read more We arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation. There was a long line of people waiting to check in and a several groups sitting and standing around waiting to be seated. There were five girls congregating around the host station. The tables were 90% vacant and ready for diners......yet it took over 20 minutes past our reservation time to get seated, for a reserved table. The line to be seated kept getting longer and none of the hostesses seemed to be able to figure out how to actually get people seated. Once we were finally seated we put in our drink order. It took 20+ minutes to get the drinks, and only a part of the order was brought out. It took another 15 minutes for the rest of the drinks to come to the table. (None of the drinks were complicated or contained alcohol, it was all Sodas, Waters, and Lemonade). We ordered our entrees, and then we waited, and waited, and waited. 35 minutes after ordering and still no food. I had to leave the table and track down our waiter. The manager happened to be standing nearby, he apologized, and said our food would be right out. 20 minutes later we finally got the food. And three of the dishes were wrong. (like the completely WRONG item) Including one of this kids meals for a toddler who was at this point nearly feral with hunger. They remade the Toddler meal, and it came out 25 minutes later and was burned. We basically at this point had made him a plate from everyone else's dishes. One of the mistake dishes had shrimp in it and they smelled awful. They did take the messed up meals off the bill. We have been to Biaggi's a lot in the past as it is a good halfway point for our family that live both in Denver and Fort Collins, but we are going to find a new mid point because this was a very lack luster experience.

Hopped in with Thursday night reservations, and we were seated within a few minutes. The menu is as fantastic looking as we remember. Pretty much, this is one of those places you go when you want to eat a bougie dinner. Oh, and the cocktails! Wife N. started with the Woo Girl a lovely off-fizzy gin-based hibiscus drink. Delightful. I went with an Old Fashioned. They have three different Old Fashioned choices (I've had all, and all are stellar) but tonight I went with the "With a Twist" which adds in some unique pineapple and vanilla notes. Fabulous! The apps arrived. We started with the Fois Gras Terrine--pretty much you can't go wrong with Fois Gras and Chimney park gussied it up with marinated apricots, pistachios, and what turned out to be the most delightful edible flowers (the purple poofy one looked like a garlic flower and had a light garlicy taste which, with the Fois was a bite of heaven---many folks think flowers are just garnish but don't shy away from trying a bite or you'll miss out! The only drawback was we ran out of the (two) toast points a third the way through the terrine. No big deal, we just spread it on their wonderful table bread. Bison tartare. Perfect egg yolk on top and a lovely dijon cream, served with housemade potato chips. Best tartare in recent memory. Next, the lobster bisque which we mentioned we were sharing. It arrived split into two perfect servings, with bisque poured tableside. Chunks of fresh lobster swimming in a delightfully tasty bisque with just a bit of spicy heat to it. I think if there was only one thing I was allowed to eat for the rest of my life, it would be this dish. On to the mains. She had the pan roasted Chilean sea bass. Flawlessly cooked and glistening, on a bed of pea risotto and adorned with pea shoots, most excellent. I had the mushroom-crusted New England scallops. Five #12 scallops, perfectly seared, on a bed of black rice, served with morels, bok choi and a couple black truffle shavings with a beurre blanc. This was a delicious umami bomb. Everything on the plate had a reason for being there and, on the off-chance I managed to get all the elements in a single bite it was a bite of heaven. Stuffed to the gills, we could only take home a dessert. So the flourless chocolate torte made its way into a to-go box and we had it back at the hotel room. Everything you'd expect a delicious wrap-up to be. Second visit in two years, and the quality of service and food was consistent across both visits. We're Chimney Park fans, and will be back any time we're back in the area. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

We came in later that usual, closer to 8pm. There were just two other diners there and the staff was using their lull to tidy the restaurant. We were welcomed in and placed our order. I needed to wash up so I headed for the bathroom and was pleasantly surprised they have gender neutral restrooms. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Cavatappi. It had cavatappi noodles in a chipotle alfredo sauce with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, corn, spinach and gouda. It was topped with parsley, chipotle seasoning and came with two lime wedges to squeeze on top. This I would order again. It was tasty, the seasoning was nice with a kick, it had a good variety of flavors coming together. My daughter chose Garlic Bacon Crunch Mac & Cheese. It consisted of elbow noodles in a garlic cheddar sauce with bacon and white cheddar. It was topped with crispy onions, parmesan cheese and fresh herbs. That was a winner as well. She ended up boxing some up to take home for lunch the next day. We enjoyed our mother daughter time and had a great dinner. I would stop here again.

She said she would wait for them to remake it and get it out to me, but the staff there decided to make it complicated and tell her that I have to call noodles customer service to deal with the problem. I just wanted the food I paid for, not a runaround. I ended up calling in and talking to someone who claimed the be a manager. She had 0 customer service skills and just repeated the same things over and over again. I explained that I just wanted the food I paid for. I have no proof of a refund being issued, even though the manager said it had been cancelled. She offered to give me a receipt if I drive over there, and when I explained to her that I am sick and don't want to pass it off to the staff there, she didn't seem to care. With this kind of service and customer service, hopefully this location will be the next one to close. I'm hungry.
