I was referred here by a friend because you can't find a good, trusted, & affordable mechanic these days! I took my car in because there were instances when my car wouldn't start when I turned it on & Bobby was right on top of it and immediately gets on the phone to get the parts delivered for my car. He's efficient too as he knows that people need their car immediately. I also asked for a time belt replacement since my car is at 100k miles and I bought it used so I don't remember if the previous owner had changed it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get this done today because he is swamped with other appointments so you know this guy is in high demand and knows how to do his job! Fortunately I'm able to schedule another appointment since I need my car and can't leave it overnight. I highly recommend these guys! read more

COST: $45 (Smog Test and Certificate) I've probably found my new trusted mechanic! I took my truck in for smog inspection and Bobby is great. He told me what needed to be done to my truck to fix the engine light and bring it back. I got my engine light and fixes attended to and brought it back. Unfortunately, I had not driven my truck enough miles for the car diagnostics to come up with readings. Bobby was cool enough to test it out and tell me to drive it a few more miles. I came back and it was ready to go. Dude had even joked that my truck failed smog again and I almost died... this guy's got jokes! I will be bringing my other car back and hopefully I get honest and fair service/pricing one more time. If so, I'll be recommending this place to everyone I know from here on out! read more

Olive Auto Center was very helpful. My Jeep Grand Cherokee had a headlight that was out. They were able to replace a pretty expensive light and do service on it within a hour-2 hours. They even knocked down the price of the service by 15%. They also did a smog inspection for me in addition to the bulb replacement. Bobby, Laura, and the whole crew were so wonderful to me! I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze that ended up needing more work than we originally anticipated, so naturally things got expensive really quickly. No matter how necessary it is, nobody likes dropping a big unplanned chunk of change on vehicle repairs, but not only did Bobby use every avenue he could to shave as much off the final cost as possible, he genuinely made me feel good about the money spent. That's some master level customer service! I especially appreciated him and the mechanic (I didn't get his name, but the gentleman with the long beard) explaining the work they did while also showing me the parts they replaced so I could have a more comprehensive understanding. They were fast, thorough, fair, fun to chat with, and truly went above and beyond to make a great first impression. Even just watching their interactions with others in the lobby, it's obvious that they take pride in their work and they know and value their customers. This was my first time at Olive Auto Center, so I wanted to wait a couple of weeks before writing this review, to see if there was an issue with the work they did on my son's car. The service was beyond excellent! I took my son's car in to have it checked as the engine was shaking extremely bad. I had gone to a couple of other places before and one place said they "had" to do at least 3 repairs to stop the shaking. Another said I would have to leave it the whole day just to have it checked. Then I remembered Yelp, that's where I found Olive Auto Center. I took my son's car in and was told they needed a couple hours to check it. Turns out I received a call in about half that time, and I was told all my son's car needed was an ignition coil which would be a pretty quick fix. I had to ask twice as I had been quoted other things that needed to be done, at other shops. Needless to say, I had them do the work. It was done fast, it was done perfectly. My son bought his car used, and it ran great, as far as we could tell. Now, after the repair, it runs smoother than we he first bought it over a year ago. He is extremely happy with his car's performance now. I will recommend this shop to anybody and everyone I know. read more

I am so lucky to come across this shop! I came in to Hollywood for a doctors appointment and when I was driving home (I live an hour and a half away depending on traffic) my BMW 535D was showing that I had low pressure in my tires. Yikes what was I going to do and To add to the stress they are special run flat tires which normally take at least 24 hours to order! I pulled in to the shop and they offered to have a look. All I needed was a little air and they sent me on my way! They were so sweet and I felt like I was being taken care of by my daddy! I would bring my car to them anytime!! So the car problem that was supposedly fixed kept coming back a week after the visit and now I'm not so sure if the mechanics at Olive Auto Center really fixed my car. It seems like the check light was manually turned off and it came right back up a few days later. Not only that, my car is still randomly stuttering when I'm driving, which is scary!! :( -1 star for not thoroughly diagnosing the car correctly -1 star for charging me $400 for service & parts that I didn't need -1 star for dishonesty, asking me to edit my review and offering me a "coupon" if I did so Unfortunately, there's no ZERO star for Yelp, so I'm giving it a one star. I don't really know if they were dishonest or incompetent. Either way, I ended up taking the car to the dealer. They're a lot more expensive, yes, but at least I can trust them. The dealer charged me a lot of money, but they fixed everything, including the driveability. Olive called me over the weekend to say sorry that his service didn't fix the problem. I had previously given Olive Auto 4 stars, but after going to another mechanic in Sherman Oaks, I realize I was ripped off at Olive. Ali is a great guy to handle the customer service, enjoyable to talk to. However, his mechanics I no longer trust. Like a few other reviews, I took my car in because my check engine light was on. They ran a few tests, I spent a large chunk of money, drove off with it, and the check engine light came on again. I went back, spent another large chunk of money and was then sent to the dealership because they couldn't figure out what was going on. In the end, I spent around $3,000 on my car. Come to find out, my new mechanic said things like that happen often. I was describing the story to him and he literally knew what parts we were charged for without me even telling him! What I believe happened was the mechanic who worked on my car wasn't sure of the problem, so I spent hundreds of dollars trying to "fix" it. I wish I would've gotten a second opinion. If Sherman Oaks isn't too far for you, I recommend Rene's Automotive. He is super busy, but so trustworthy. It's a small shop, so his mechanics are well watched over. read more

I give this place a 1 - star for the following reasons: (I've been taking my car here since I can remember. Recently this all changed). - Back in May, Olive Auto Center tells me that I needed to replace the struts of my car which I was quoted about $1,000 to do. I tell them that it was too steep of a price for me and I may have to save for a bit before I could get this done - Getting back from vacation in July, I called Midas, Pep Boys and the Dealer - All quoted me $750 - $800. I call Olive Auto center and ask again how much it would cost, this time the amount is $1200. Naturally I decided to take my car to the dealer - i leave my car at the dealer for a day and I get a loaner car to get to work. They call me back and tell me that they tested the car, drove it around, and checked for leaks. "Your struts do not need to be replaced." Reaction: Shock, disbelief, and is this a mistake? I am left with a feeling of you really can't trust anyone, even your "trusted" mechanic. Its best to get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion. Problem was fixed. Let's say that right off the bat. The problem for me is they went the most expensive route to do it therefore making a buck off me and saying they did the job to fix what I had wrong with my idling and fuel leaks. I don't trust any mechanic unless I know the guy from a reputable source or I know him personally. I should have gone to Van Nuys with a guy I once knew well but since lost contact. It could have probably saved me 800 dollars. My advice? I don't have any. You're on your own. It's a cold, cold world out there sometimes. Dear Accord, After all of your nagging and constant whining day after day, I finally had to give in and get you fixed up. Lucky for me, Ali and his crew is honest and nice. Unluckily for me, you've been so damn high maintenance as you've gotten older, so I knew it was going to cost me. After I explained to Dr. Ali about all the racket you make, he told me what needed to be done: replace the brakes, resurface rotors & replace the front axle. Ouch. It took all day for him to whip you into shape, and it cost about $520. Good thing he's trusty, otherwise it might have cost me double. He even pointed out a nail in your tire. Why do you have to be so damn accident prone? After being with you, and ONLY you, for 11 years, my excitement for you has dwindled significantly. Our relationship is one out of necessity. If it were up to me, I'd replace you in a heartbeat with a hot upgrade. Look at you, I mean you've just let yourself go. You used to look so great, and now you're just all worn out and breaking down, part by part. You're an emotional & financial drain on me. I read about Olive Auto Center on Yelp and boy am I glad I did! My car had been making this very odd squeak as I rolled. How embarrassing - squeak, squeak, squeak. Of course, as soon as Ali gets in my car to listen to the squeak, it didn't squeak. We're driving around Burbank and I keep telling him, "I SWEAR it squeaks!" Luckily he believed me and figured out how to fix it. My car hasn't squeaked since! I can't recommend Olive Auto Center enough. UPDATE: 2/7/2017 Told Bobby last visit I was looking for a car and he called today. Who does that? Going the extra mile. Few if any mech heads would ever make this effort in LA! Bobby, Ali and Joseph are the bomb! That is good. Came in for a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) and the best $109.00 I could spend. She looked good on the curb, but under the hood needed a mountain of service. Bobby is straight up. Sharp comes to mind. Quick mind with a strong personality. No BS. My brakes was making funny noise so I took it in and Ali told me the breaks are fine but the rotors need to be replaced because they are the wrong size and it will be $440 for front and rear(which isn't a bad price at all.) But he followed with that there are no safety issues it will only make noise. So I got away with paying $30. WOW!!! An honest mechanic, well I never.... Had them replace my battery, they checked out my old one.. told me it wasn't completely dead, but it was weak. They were very honest, and the price was right. I was in and out in 15 mins. I will be returning for all my car needs. UPDATE: 1/21/2008 So one day my breaks went from normal to grinding.. ouch, I took my car back to Olive Auto Center to have them check it out, It was as bad as I thought, but after it was all said and done, It cost me less then I thought it would, and I had my car back within a few hours. I had options for different break pads and prices, and as always I left NOT FEELING RIPPED OFF. This place has always been very reliable. I remember coming here when I heard a very loud squeal from my car. Lo and behold, it was coming from my brakes. Ali got my car serviced in no time. Now that I live in SF, it gets really expensive to just get an oil change. My normal guy in SF charges me $50. Yikes. So I waited until I visited L.A. to get my oil change and check out the noise that my dad keeps hearing when driving my car. The shop was really busy when I arrived (8:30am on a Tuesday). Still, they fit me into their schedule and got me in and out by 10:00am after having double checked everything before my drive back up. Best of all, I didn't need anything more than an oil change. They could have easily fooled me and told me something major was wrong. Like what happened to me a few years ago at EZ Lube. I love honest people. Fabulous. read more

My car had been making a high-pitch squeal sound a low speeds and was also in need of an oil change. I was about to bring it in to the Toyota dealer when I heard of this place. Ali (who runs the shop) was very helpful! I explained to him the problems, and he had my car ready within a few hours. No appointment needed! He charged me very honest prices for parts and labor, and I drove away with a generally good feeling. I know the Toyota dealership would have been much slower and probably more expensive with more bullshit. Ali is exactly what I needed: A fast, honest, and helpful mechanic who has your back! I really wanted to like this place. I drive a 2002 Honda Civic. In the past I had repairs done at shop in Westlake. They have always done excellent work. But since I live in Burbank I was hoping I would be able to find a competent mechanic closer. After reading the reviews on Yelp I couldn't believe my luck. Olive Auto Center was getting mostly great reviews and they were within walking distance of where I live. My car was running great except one day, in June of 2010 the air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. Only warm air would come out. The perfect job, I thought, to test out Olive Auto Center. I brought my car in and talked to Mike. He estimated it would cost around $90 and I was happy with the estimate. He told me they would look at it and for me to call back in a couple of hours. Two hours later I call and am told that the problem is not what they thought it was. They think it is the cars computer but they are still looking at it to make sure. They tell me the car should be ready by the end of the day. After not hearing from them I call about an hour before they close to see how things are going. I am told the problem is the computer and it is going to cost close to $1000 to replace it. I'm not thrilled but I understand estimates are just that until they find out what the problem is. I tell them to order the part. Oh, and my car is not ready. It is still in pieces and they have not had a chance to put it back together yet. They tell me it will be ready midday the next day. The next day it's not ready until just before they close. When the part arrives they call and tell me it has to go to the dealer so they can flip a switch to activate it. $102 to do that. So I bring my car in, they replace the computer and I pick it up the next day. Total cost: $1117.14. Runs fine, air blows cool again but there is a problem with my drivers side door lock. It doesn't lock when I press the alarm button like it is supposed to. I never had that problem before. When I talk to Mike he informs me that his mechanics never touched my door so it is not something they did. Hmm... okay. So I ask him to fix it and also ask them to do an oil and filter change while they are at it. He calls me later and tells me they need to change the door lock actuator. Again it takes them two days. Total cost: $262.64. When I get my car home the lock works fine but now there is a loud whirring noise coming from my car when driving and especially when turning. I also discover when I have my car smog tested at a different shop that the lock on my cars hood is broken. The smog shop tells me this is very dangerous and my hood could fly off my car while driving. At this point I don't even want to bring my car anywhere near Olive Auto Center. I can't believe they gave me my car back in that condition. I don't even call them. Instead I bring my car to the shop in Westlake that I know I can trust. They examine the car and ask me what happened? Did I drive over a large pothole? No, I just brought it to the wrong auto shop. They found a leak in the steering rack. They needed to replace the steering pump and steering rack & pinion and do a 4 wheel alignment. They also needed to repair the hood lock. Total to repair Olive Auto Centers screwups: $1680.12. Now my car runs great. Total cost to have cool air blow again in my 2002 Honda Civic: $3059.90. I would not feel safe bringing any vehicle I own to Olive Auto Center ever again. read more

I called for an estimate on replacement of my radiator and if he could take a look at my transmission, I told him my car over heated and that the transmission was slipping. He right away said look I got over 106 yelp reviews and that he would take a look he said if it over heated most likely we have to replace the thermostat. Which ok I could see how that is connected, but this is what threw me off. He said that most likely when it over heated that the system was connected to my transmission and that I should replace the whole system as well. I cautiously asked "the system is connected?" he said yes but don't worry you can see my yelp reviews and I do a good job. Mmmm.... no thanks buddy I'm not that gullible but good try. I'm not a mechanic but even I know the transmission has nothing to do with the radiator. I gave two stars to be fair because I actually did not get any service done here, so I cant speak for the actual work. read more

Went to this business in person to make an appointment for the inspection of a vehicle I bought a few months back, just to find out if the car needs attention in key areas. So they give me a Tuesday 10 AM appointment which was perfectly fine with me but that was the last good thing I experienced dealing with this business. Why? Well, on the day of the appointment, having set aside other things-to-do on my busy life, we drove there only to be told that both of their hoists are occupied by other vehicles needing work and that they cannot perform the requested service!!! Bobby or Ali, I am not sure which said he will call me later that afternoon to reschedule. He never did. What is wrong with this picture? A couple of big ones: 1- First of all if you cannot serve a customer WITH an appointment, why not call them so they don't waste their time driving there and being greeted with BS like the one I was given? 2- Don't ice the cake by promising an already very disappointed customer you will call later to re-schedule and fail to keep that promise as well. Two let downs in a single day and I have not even done business with these people. Like Kevin O'Leary would say: "for that reason I am out" as in no thanks. read more

We took my girlfriend's car here for air system work. Our fan wouldn't blow any air. Sucked! Anyways, Ali was a really cool guy. He was laid back and took care of us like every shop should. It turned out to be a labor-intensive job but he didn't charge us for about half of the labor. Very honest guy. A dealership would have charged the full labor and at a higher hourly rate. We seem to have a slow coolant leak and will be bringing it back to Olive in the next week. read more

Either these guys are scammers, or completely incompetent. Those are seriously the only two possibilities I can consider after taking my car here. My seat belt was broken. The harness wouldn't tighten at all, so I wanted it fixed. I took it here early in the morning, and they said they'd look at it. I get a call around 6, because I guess it takes all day to look at a seat belt, and they tell me they can't fix it. Not only that, but they haven't found a replacement for it, so I have to go to the junkyards in Sun Valley and find a spare part myself. Oh, and they charged me 40 dollars for that. I ended up going to another mechanic, who fixed the seat belt in FIFTEEN MINUTES. These guys had all day and told me to go to a junkyard. read more
