Honestly this place is the best. The owner is amazing and super helpful. You can really tell he loves his shop and loves talking to people. There's a large assortment of olive oils, balsamics and pastas. The quality of the olive oils and balsamics really make the difference if you like cooking. They go great on everything! I love to go in here and get as much olive oil as I can afford - or more - my favorite is the Hojiblanca oil. Best oil for when you are going to eat it uncooked - over tri-color salad or bruscetta - just delicious - cannot be beaten. I buy the smaller bottles because I'm afraid it will oxidize - so I buy like 4 at a time - just delicious - and we always try a new oil and a new vinegar - we also tend to get the cherry balsamic for salad dressings - just love this store - the man that helped us last time was calm and collected though they were busy - and he was so helpful and knew exactly where everything was located. I started using olive oil relatively late in life, and recently discovered The Olive Crush. Their olive oil is the best I have tasted, especially compared to what is available in the stores. So many different flavors that you can use to compliment different dishes! I eat salads almost every day, and oil and vinegar dressing is the most healthy. I use different olive oil flavors for a change of pace, and even when I use store bought dressing on occasion, I use only half a serving and compliment it with a half serving of olive oil/vinegar. The Olive Crush olive oils are also tasty on pizza, pasta, bread, etc. Their balsamic vinegar is also excellent. Prior to shopping here, I did not realize how much of an improvement in taste good balsamic vinegar would make. I also recently tried their macaroons and they are very good. If there was an olive oil and balsamic vinegar heaven, this is it! Within a minute of walking in the owner approached us asking if we had been here before. When we said we hadn't, he jumped up and started giving us a tour, offering us tastes of several different balsamic vinegars and olive oils, and explaining the company's process of making them. He was happy to answer all of our questions and was overall just a delight to talk with. Other shops should look to this one to see what outstanding customer service looks like. Each barrel of balsamic and olive oil offered a brief description along with what types of dishes it is recommended to pair with. The prices laid out were very reasonable in comparison to other speciality olive oil stores, and if you return the empty bottles on your next visit you receive an additional dollar off on each new bottle purchased. We ended up deciding to go with three balsamics, the lemon, pear, and red apples, as well as one basic olive oil which was their most famous. Every balsamic I tried was full of flavor and an absolute delight to drink on its own, and I'm very much looking to incorporate into my own dishes. My boyfriend and I had a great time trying each of the different flavors and enjoyed talking with the owner, who was enthusiastic and sociable throughout the entire time. Went for the first time today and it definitely won't be the last. This shop is so cute! So many olive oil and vinegar options. Not to mention an amazing select of pasta and spices. It's the perfect place to stop if you need a really nice gift for someone or if you need a special appetizer for guests. The Olive Crush has an amazing assortment of pastas, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar that will take you well outside the zone of temperance. You can sample the oil and vinegar before making a purchase which I found quite helpful. Most of the items I tried were heavenly to my palate; a few were overpowering. Though I really liked some of the smoother olive oils, I went all out in sampling the balsamic vinegar. There were plenty of great tasting options. In the end, I purchased three different balsamic vinegars which led to a food and wine orgy tonight. The 18-year aged traditional balsamic has slight natural sweetness. It's a bit syrupy and rich... so just a small hint on cheese, fruit, veggies, or bread will go far. The Sicilian lemon balsamic offers a decent hit of lemon on the palate and nose. It's a great topping for fattier foods such as cheese or fatty fish. The blackberry ginger balsamic has a really nice fruity aroma. I chose this one to complement a variety of toasted sourdough baguettes. Playing around with different toppings from grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, and melted cheese, the blackberry ginger balsamic made every imaginable combination even better. Well for now I'm "fooded out" but looking forward to another creative adventure with my new balsamic friends soon. This was overdue but I decided to add my review after couple of years of consuming pasta and salad oils from this place. Mike truly has some most delicious and healthy mix of pastas and oils which really turn your regular dishes to a fine dining experience at home. He never sells you anything to just get rid of something from his store. Whatever Mike has recommended so far has been really yummy. I never knew the importance of using good olive oil until now. You can buy organic foods but if you are going to use sub-par olive oil to cook it in, you might as well have saved your money and bought pesticide-ridden fruits, vegetables and meats. Olive oil should be the most important food item you buy since it coats all of the foods you cook. Luckily, I found The Olive Crush, which not only provides high-quality olive oil, they also carry a wide variety of herb-infused olive oils. I love the Onion & Basil oils. It brings so much extra flavor to the dishes I cook. I also love that they carry Pappardelle Pastas. I fell in love with these pastas when I discovered them at Pike's Market in Seattle but it's hard for me to find these pastas in the Bay Area. The Olive Crush is one of the few places you can find these works of art. It's pricey but really worth it and so easy to cook. You can actually just eat these pasta with some infused olive oil. They are that good. My favorites are the Porcini Mushroom Linguine and Spinach Garlic Pappardelle. This is also a great place to buy gifts for your foodie friends. A great experience. My sister decided she wanted olive oil for her gift this season and I suggested we go together to pick ones out. We grabbed up a sourdough baguette (HIGHLY RECOMMEND this move) and stepped into the store. I think they have about 50+ varieties of olive oil and balsamic oil. They have three sizes to choose from so you can commit to trying one out (Small $6) and go up from there with medium and larger bottles. They have little trial cups to taste but since we came prepared it felt like a warm-up for a picnic. We walked out with 6 bottles of various flavors and sizes. Our favorites were: Arbequina olive oil (left the least strong aftertaste note) Butter olive oil (really tastes of butter) Basil olive oil (I imagine this would be excellent on caprese) Gravenstein balsamic, Cranberry Pear balsamic & Mango balsamic (all of which are yummy standing alone but would kick ass on salad and Michael said doing a reduction and pouring over yogurt would be excellent too). Speaking of Michael, and the customer service. Since we know customer service far and wide has gotten pretty bad.. it was totally outstanding how helpful they were and I'll tell you more about that. I had a brainstorm the next day that I would have loved to buy a bunch of small-bottle-flights for my favorite clients who hired me to dj. But by then it was Christmas Eve and the store was closed. So, when I got home to LA a few days later.. I sent and email through the site asking (and assuming not) if I could buy 6 hand-picked boxes. The answer was yes, the same day even. Then I had one more ask. All four boxes were going to different places across the country. Could they maybe ship directly from there? The answer again was yes, with a photo of the wooden crates already filled and a total due.. within just a few hours of my initial inquiry. This is a great place to come and find great new olive oils and vinegar flavors. I love that on the wall there is a guide to pairing them together. There are also recipes next to the oils, so you can tell there was a lot of thought put into the store. I have purchased many gifts from here for colleagues and friends. Right now it is the Christmas time of the year, time to get presents. My boyfriend and I, have been really wanting to check out Olive Crush. So we high tailed it to the store and the owner was super nice! We got to sample some amazing olive oils. We did leave with his special, 2 bottles for $20. It was a present so we have to go back again next time for ourselves to do some more sampling. Can't wait. If you buy a bottle on it's own it is $13. Very important he does take credit. The balsamics are soooo tasty. They range from original to berry to chocolate flavors. I've yet to try out the olive oils more, but it will be a lot of fun to get some bottles for myself. Came by this store for the first time today as we were parked in front of it. I got curious so bf and I went in to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised at all the olive oils and balsamic vinegars they carried. I never knew there are different flavored balsamic vinegars as I only buy the basic one. The store had blueberry, mango, vanilla and a whole other slew of flavor selections. The guy behind the counter which I assume is the owner was super nice and friendly and even gave me some suggestion on the lemon olive oil I bought. I love businesses like these so will definitely come back to get the other olive oils and balsamic vinegar flavors to go with my burrata cheese. The olive oil they sell here are good stuff. One of the best. I like it mainly because of the flavor and the taste. These are better than some of the good olive oil I tried in Italy. Though, what I like is the various flavor. Tuscany, garlic... they actually got too many and I've been sticking with my favorite... Tuscany which is great for making pasta. The balsamic vinegar is awesome... I have my favorite but they have so many flavor you have to taste them all. (You can taste as much as you want at the store). I have to admit the fruity one I got is to the sweet side but because I use it solely in making salad, it comes out perfectly. I start eating salad as a result. I am tempted to give a 4 stars because I use them almost daily, the price is a little steep. I wish they have "frequent shopper discount". Great spot (but I suggest calling first because their hours seem to be a little flexible). I needed a X-mas present and a Birthday present. I bought the Fig Balsamic and Garlic Olive Oil for one present and the 18 years aged Balsamic (sweeter and thicker then the stuff I get at Trader Joes - worlds apart) and the Herb/Sun-dried Tomato Olive Oil for the other present. The bottles have cute labels and they are perfect for gifts (two 12.7 oz bottles are $20). I will definitely go back for more. They have a wide selection of Olive Oils both plain (different locations/styles etc) or infused (lemon, tangerine, garlic, chipotle, etc). The infusions are amazing. They have really rich and complex flavors and you can taste them all in the store. The balsamic selection is also really great. They had the plain 18 year and a huge selection of infusions (pomegranate, black current, blueberry, fig, strawberry, peach etc).
