Arguably not filled to the top
    Derrick M.

Drink is good as usual but it was a lot of ice for "less ice" and clearly it wasn't filled to the top.

I got the 24oz Creme brûlée with boba (4.5/5 stars) for $8. It was good, and I'd get it again, but it was a bit overpriced for the size in my opinion, and a lot of their options were non-boba flavors I wasn't interested in, like cheese foam or coconut pudding. I think I'd probably do Boba Guys if/when I'm in San Carlos again. Staff was kind and service was fast at 7:15pm on a weeknight, the restaurant seemed clean and modern although not the nicest.

    Black Milk Tea with boba
    Laura L.

I got the black milk tea with boba with 25% sugar and no ice. It was pretty good but the tea flavor was almost a little bit burnt/bitter tasting. It was a good amount of sweetness and the boba texture was good. A lot of folks were ordering the fruit based drinks so I'd try that next time.

Oreo matcha Extra Thick Taro N Milk
    Heather N.

Extra thick taro n milk -cold 240z -light ice -Recommended (sweetness) -recommended dairy -absolutely perfect. The taro doesn't taste artificial and is truly thick. The sweetness of the drink itself was also perfect. The taro balls in there are slightly too sweet on their own but the taro milk does balance it out a little bit. Oreo matcha - recommended (sweetness) -oat milk -16 oz ice -the recommended option for sweetness here was perfect as well. I noticed that they hand whisked the matcha and that it was slightly bitter. I also appreciate that it didn't cost more to replace the milk with oat milk. We used the kiosk to order so there's not much I can say about service. The ambiance is nice as well. Very clean

Get their pomelo tea it's the best! I get no sweet, it's becoming my favorite drink on this block!

Tea Hut is a cozy tea shop located in downtown San Carlos. Parking can be a bit sparse, but isn't too hard to find. The part of the street it is located on is blocked off, so just be aware in case of mobility issue. Service was fast, but the person who prepared and gave us our drinks wasn't super friendly. However, makes sense because it seemed like they were the only person working and were probably locked in on making the drinks. The drinks were good! I really enjoyed my osmathus oolong.

    Rice Mochi Taro Milk Tea
    Bethany W.

The rice mochi taro milk tea is amazing and such a good drink idea! I love mochi in drinks! 50% sweetness was perfect and it's a good size! Service was quick and the inside is simple but spacious. I'll be back again for this drink!!

I use to really like this place but lately its service and products have gone downhill. Twice now on separate occasions I went in, ordered my drink and it comes out completely wrong!! I even told the guy twice no boba!!! Today I should have been smart enter check but unfortunately I've realized till I got home. Which makes it pretty frustrating that it's drink I dint even want to drink now. When things like this happen makes me not want to go back.

I usually stop here when in Downtown San Carlos and I am usually pretty happy with it, the boba is usually pretty good and consistent. They do get busy and you order on a kiosk vs actually having someone take your order so its not super personal but there are usually only 2-3 people working so it works out. I will always go back for a good consistent milk tea I can count on.

    Mochi Soy Milk Tea
    Maggie W.

I've been to the Tea Hut location in Millbrae, and I was excited to see that there's a location closer to me in San Carlos! I ordered my usual soy milk tea with pearls and mochi, but the mochi was SO hard and the drink was a tad watery/didn't have a strong tea flavor, especially after mixing the foam into the drink to make it creamier. I ended up just tossing the mochi away since it was incredibly dissatisfying. The pearls here are very qq and have a good texture, they also are very generous with the portion given.

The strawberry oolong tea is my favorite, the actual tea still pulls through and boba is nice and chewy. Also like to get agar boba if I want something different

This place only has street parking, but it came when most shops were closed(?), so parking was pretty easy. Ordered at the kiosk and I got their persimmon drink and loved it! I liked that it wasn't too sweet and there were persimmon pieces in the drink. I feel like persimmon drinks aren't very common so I thought it was very unique!

The best refreshing lemon green tea I've had in the region!

Had their milk tea, tasted tap water in it and couldn't finish it, sadly quite disappointing, have yet to try their other drinks.

Ask the Community - Tea Hut

What is the difference between traditional and recommended dairy when choosing the milk options?

Traditional milk tea uses creamer powder to achieve a milky and creamy flavor, while the recommended dairy option primarily uses whole milk.

The taro flavor was mild and leaned more sweet than rich or earthy. I was hoping for a stronger, more natural taro taste, but it felt somewhat diluted once everything was mixed together. Texture wise, it was okay, though the "tornado" swirl didn't really add much beyond presentation. Service was fine and the shop itself is clean and cute, which makes it a decent spot to stop by if you're already in the area. Overall, not bad, but not memorable either. I might try a different drink next time, but the Taro Tornado alone wouldn't bring me back.

Parking is street parking, but I was lucky and got a spot right out front. The exterior and interior was simple. Not much service either, they looked surprised when I walked in and it felt like they just wanted me in and out quickly. I originally wanted a jasmine green milk tea, which they said they do not have it anymore. Instead of suggesting a green milk tea - the employee just intently stared at me, so I asked If they had a green milk tea instead, which he responded with that they do. He rang me up quickly and told the other employee to make my drink. I looked around and they had a 'Pumping Station' for their frozen yogurt, but the machines did not looked like it had been used in a long time or it even worked. As I was pondering, I received my drink shortly after. My green milk tea with boba tasted okay. It had a good sweetness to it with 50% sugar. It was creamy with only a hint of tea taste, which I enjoyed. It had a graininess to it, which was off-putting. Overall, decent milk tea (besides the graininess) and size for the price.
