It's been 8 years since my last review and there's basically a completely different staff than before, but I can confidently say that I am still thrilled by the people who help me whenever I come in. Everyone is patient, knowledgeable, friendly, and will do whatever they can to educate you and make you feel both comfortable and taken care of. With my company's change in insurance this office is now out of network, but I will do everything I can to stick around. It's incredibly worth it to me to have this level of care, service, and camaraderie (did I mention I really love the staff?). They contacted my insurance before I came in for an Invisalign plan, which was very helpful and left less to guessing (much appreciated, since it's a pricy program). Also, they seem to really keep up with the latest tech, which is cool. I'm going to eventually need robot teeth when that's invented, so that'll be handy. Anyway, everyone in this office is wonderful to the point that I don't mind if they need to drill or stab my mouth. Thumbs way up! read more

I don't tend to do a lot of reviews on here. Either you have to be really bad for me to review you or be really amazing. I think you can figure out which one this is! Moving to a new area can be hard. Especially when you're trying to find a great of dentist. You might have to try a few until you find the one. At least thats how I felt. But I got super lucky I found this place first. All the staff are super friendly and super professional. They make every visit awesome. Not only do they do great work but they are great people and I always feel very comfortable while I'm there. I can honestly say I look forward to going to the dentist because of this place. I also got Invisalign here and that process was very straight forward and easy. They talk you through everything and check your progress regularly. I really like this place! I HATE going to the dentist and haven't been in a few years. decided to give Olive Family Dentistry a call and I'm glad i did. Mercedes was super friendly on the phone. I was able to fill out my new patient forms at home to save time which was nice. The office was clean and COVID safe. Dr. Edvin went over the full checkup and xrays with me. didn't feel rushed or forced, just natural in explanation. When it was time for the dreaded teeth cleaning, I was taken to Rita's office. Teeth Cleaning is usually really painful and uncomfortable for me. Rita made the experience a little more enjoyable. She taught me about the cleaning practice and a lot about gum health. stuff i really was never explained. She was the most gentle hygienist I've ever had. It finally didn't feel like torture. Also, I got a call from Benny the next day to check up on me. They really care about patient care. I'm not a big fan of going to the dentist and I finally found the dentist I enjoyed going to. The dental assistant that did my teeth and gum cleaning was very professional. Their services here were great, although the female receptionist here is very persistent and temperamental. I went in letting them know about pain in my back tooth because of a small gap, they insisted on billing my insurance for every tooth problem I had and ignored the reason why I scheduled the appointment in the first place. They will find ways to charge and bill you for out of pocket. When I let the receptionist know that I didn't want it done, she insisted on getting it done and threw a tantrum on the dentist. They also charge a fee for rescheduling within 24 hours of your appointment. read more

I have been a customer here for years, but have only been in a few times since the changeover from Dr. Macis to Dr. Dmitry Aminov (my dentist) and Dr. Edvin Agadzhanov. After being out-of-state for some time (and a variety of other personal reasons after my return), I haven't been able to return here for a bit. I called Olive Family Dentistry at 11:20am on June 23, 2019, to inquire about scheduling a cleaning with Michel. It is now 5:30pm on July 1st 2019 and I haven't heard a peep from these people. While Dr. Dmitry Aminov is very professional and recommendable, the front-desk people who are responsible for returning calls need to be replaced. I should have written this review a long time ago as I probably would have saved others from the agony of trying to find a good dentist. Since my original (good) dentist sold his practice to a complete moron, I've been searching for years to find a new one -- and let me tell you, it is NOT easy to find a good dentist. Fortunately Yelp was here to assist me in my quest! And not only did I find a good dentist, I would even venture to say that Dr. Macias is even better than my previous good dentist! I like to call him "a magician" because it's absolutely magical how he manages to do all manner of things with my teeth WITHOUT ANY PAIN!!! And I should emphasize that this even includes the initial application of anesthesia which he manages to do in such a slow and patient manner (always checking in with you to make sure you're comfortable) that you truly feel nothing. I think this is the first time I have EVER had a dentist who could do that. His staff is great and you truly feel like family when you go there. Maria even calls to follow up on your dental work to make sure everything is ok. Mary does a great job with her high-tech computerized instant X-rays (so you don't have to wait around or come back on another day before seeing them). And everything there is networked together so they can do your X-rays anywhere and just call them up to see them in another room (no waiting for someone to find your file etc...) It's all very efficient. And Jessica (who handled my teeth bleaching setup) does a great job as well (she seems to have a sixth sense about how to handle the water suction so it doesn't make you gag). And it doesn't hurt that Dr. Macias' assistants are all very pretty as well as capable. I think that's part of his evil plan to make you feel comfortable -- by surrounding you with pretty, pleasant and professional people to make the whole experience enjoyable. And as I write this, I realize that "enjoyable" is the right word to describe my experience -- and I truly can't believe I'm saying that about a dentist! But my recent experience was no exception -- I truly had no anxiety at all about coming in for my appointment and I was actually excited about the work that was going to be done! And I don't think I've ever had that kind of feeling about going to see a dentist. Ever... So if going to see a dentist makes your stomach turn and your muscles tense, why not try a different way of getting dental work handled that will make you actually WANT to go see a dentist regularly? It really can be that easy and I highly recommend Dr. Macias for his pain-free and professional approach to dental care. p.s. When looking at reviews on Yelp, don't just look at the stars: go to the effort of actually reading each review to get a better idea of what each dentist is like. I think you'll find that the couple of off reviews of Dr. Macias are not really related to his dental care and are more likely due to miscommunications that don't do his dental practice justice. Was very fortunate today to be seen by Dr. Dmitry Aminov for a checkup on a possible cavity and repair of my jaw alignment sleep apnea mouthpiece. Overall, Dr. Dmitry still continues to be the utmost professional dentist in the SoCal area for me. He's even better than most dentists I have experienced all over the world. Simply put, he has amazing dental chair manner, extreme attention to detail, hard work, and great knowledge of taking care of people's teeth. He requires the same with his amazing staff. Not only do I come here to see him, but I also enjoy coming here because everyone who works here is super kind, smart, hardworking, and all with a great sense of humor. I'm happy to say Dr. Macias put us in good hands when he retired a handful of years ago. Dr. Dmitry and a fantastic mix of Dr. Macias's original staff (shout out to Rita!) and new staff have continued the professional, friendly treatment and experience. The office is intimate and personable. Benny is always quick with a "hello" when you walk in the front door. There's a lot of stuff I worry about. Going to the dentist isn't one of them. Final Review 12/18/20. Just received my final 2 crowns via Implants. I will attempt to be brief, while providing as much info as possible. My ultimate goal is to help others, who are considering going with implants. JUST DO IT !! :) It's been almost a year and a half. After having 4 teeth extracted ( top rear molars / both sides ). The work performed by Dr. Edvin has been meticulous & precise from start to finish. He has continually impressed me with his attention to detail. It is obvious he takes a great deal of pride in his work !! The man is a true perfectionist. The scope of work I have had done is extensive. THE HYGIENIST / TEETH CLEANERS STILL ROCK : Michel was amazing and my current hygienist Rita has been that, so much so -- both give *fantastic* tips on keeping your teeth clean (but not ruining the enamel).. like focusing your brushing more on the grooves part of the teeth rather than the sides. Rita's constantly finding new gadgets that do better cleaning - with less pain .... yeesssss... My teeth were turning purple ( ! ) and come to find out it was my pomegranate juice; Rita suggested using a straw to bi-pass staining the teeth. Works like a charm ( and the juice tastes better :). BILLING : review your billing.. A couple times I've found problems now. AGADGZHANOV aka "Edvin" - Gifted at what he does. But when he replaced a filling w/o realizing I've used lifelong retainers, 2 of my teeth started moving with the new placement of the retainers ... He didn't believe me - !!!!!!! He was adamant that it was impossible for my teeth to move - as the retainers are flush against the teeth... Yes they're flush -- in the wrong spots now!!!!! SO : not an orthodontist .. and I was totally forgiving in that regard. Though it would've been nice if he actually accepted that a patient could be right about teeth. And it wasn't only that instance.. That filling he replaced at the back of the front tooth he had left rough -- without telling me -- until I got home and not only did the upper retainer that night not fit, but my tongue all eve (post numbing wear-off) kept feeling the roughness where the filling was. When I reported the roughness Dr. Agadzhanov / Dr Edvin said I was just feeling it out of habit, my tongue doesn't reach that far to the front of my mouth.. ! ! ! Excuse me, but in my mouth it happens my tongue sits against the front teeth all day. For better or for worse .. I said so and he still didn't believe it possible ( ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ). We should take an x-ray with my mouth closed - so he could blast his unbelieving state out of the water and see where my tongue actually sits in my mouth. Why do I have to argue where my tongue sits? And then to argue that my teeth are moving post filling replacement.. All fine - he smoothed down the filling and to fit with the retainers ( for free ) and I brought the retainers to an orthodontist as my teeth were still moving post smoothing down. ( The orthodontist who didn't believe me either [?!!] until I showed him the before and after pix. ) Oi vey... .. So - not happy that there was no trust, or belief .. And that Dr. Agadzhanov tried to argue his pov, that I was wrong . ( ! ) Thank goodness I have before/after pix -- and I'm going to see if Dr. Dimitre is a better fit now for a dentist. Otherwise as noted Dr. "Edvin" Agadzhanov is truly gifted, and generally quite kind. read more

I never leave reviews much less negative reviews. I went in for a front tooth bonding and and not once but twice did my tooth chip shortly after. I went in the first time to get iy fixed but then when it happened a second time was a little upset. When I went in the second time to fix my chipped bonded tooth the doctor filed it down so much that it was as uneven as my original broken tooth. I was very disappointed and asked to pls even it out and he refused and became extremely rude saying it was fine. The dental assistants were of no help. Pls look at my photo so you can see that this place is not good for any cosmetic procedures. Pls pls pls stay away. I am a model and actress and my face is my job and they treated me like it's ok to go in to get a cosmetic procedure done and walk out with uneven teeth after paying nearly $300 for a tooth bonding that kept breaking. First off, I read how another poster said they offer whitening product if you leave a good review. Mercedes the office manager says this is incorrect in the other posters comment. She is not being truthful. The first time I went there after going to Dr Macias for years, they did indeed offer me a tooth whitening product for FREE if I left a positive review. See pictures below. Go elsewhere. They charge huge amounts and you can get the same thing at MUCH lower costs at other dentists. Money appears to be their objective. So be aware of all these positive reviews. Maria, who was Dr Macias sister and office manager left...and gave me that "look", when I asked how these new dentists were, after her brother retired. I bet she was incorporated into staying while the new dentists got acclimated and to make Dr Macias old clients feel comfortable. Michel the hygienist who was wonderful also gave me the look. One staff member even secretly gave me a referral to another dentist... Maria and Michel have both left this office. How I miss Dr Macias and his entire staff...he also was an old school USC dentist. Dr. Macias has been taking good care of my toothies since 2001. Very personable and fun! I feel like he's part of my family at this point since I practically lived at the dentist circa 2004 (two root canals done over again, and an implant). He referred me to his USC network of dentist specialists but kept tabs on them to make sure I was taken care of. Had he not, I could have turned into a toothless witch wonder. Favorite moments had to be my one tooth retainer in between procedures. It was great for party tricks. Thanks Dr. Macias. ;) hardy har har. He's also got the latest in equipment now with computerized xray machines live on screen during your visit. to point out exactly where your cavity is, etc. I'm one of those people that likes to ask what's going on and why and he'll totally explain it. Bonus is his sister Maria works at the front desk and is one of those people that remembers your life story after hearing it once. She is amazing! Double bonus of late was I had to cancel a check-up to go back east for a funeral. I received a sorry for your loss card hand written and signed for by both Dr. Macias and Maria his sister. Oh my word. How could I have forgotten to write an update to my review?! Actually, I'll tell you how... Because the fillings I got were so easy and pain free, that I literally forgot that I had been in the dentist chair by the following day. I meant to write an update, but my fillings were so good that I forgot, and just went about my normal every day business. I went in to see Dr. Macias because I chipped one of my back molars a few weeks ago and wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to be a problem, as far as growing a cavity, etc. I thought it'd just be an easy in and out - but while I was there, we noticed that a chunk of one of my white fillings (that ANOTHER dentist did for me less than 6 years ago) was missing. Shoot. He set me up with some x-rays, to make sure that there weren't additional cracks and things. Dr. Macias recommended that I replace the white filling that had broken, and also said that while I was numb, he could dig out my old silver filling (the next molar over) and replace it with composite, if I wanted to do that. In case you didn't know - you should get your mercury filling replaced when you have insurance or inherit a lot of money. They crack, and can even break into pieces - and if you swallow those pieces, the mercury can get into your system---or something like that. All I know is, I learned enough in chemistry and from watching medical dramas on TV to know that mercury is bad for you. So take it out of your mouth and have it replaced if and when you can - besides, the composite fillings are prettier anyway. And in LA, you know that matters. ::steps down off soap box:: Since I don't currently have insurance OR a lot of money, I was a little concerned with the financial prospect of getting the one chipped filling taken care of, let alone two at once. Maria came in, and explained everything to me! And she helped me figure out a way so that I could get both fillings done. My fillings were replaced in less than half an hour (after I got numbed up all the way) and again, when the novacain wore off, I was totally pain free. AND, my fillings fit together with my bite perfectly. From day one! I really can't say enough good things about Dr. Macias, Maria, Jessica, and all the other folks who work at Dr. Macias' office. They are kind, caring and honest folks who take good care of peoples' teeth! If you need a dentist, please call them immediately. I've tried at least 5 dentists in LA, and Dr. Macias and his staff are the best by far! I've already converted half a dozen of my friends. I found Dr Macias via 800-dentist 9 years ago! & I've been going there ever since! dr.Macias & his staff (special shout out to Maria and Jessica, who are just awesome super sweet ladies!) but everyone I've ever dealt with there is super nice and helpful dr. Macias is great at explaining what is going on and what he needs to do, etc. the only 'cons' i can think of is, parking can be tricky but you can usually find a spot nearby and no weekend appointments. read more

I am somebody who absolutely loathes the dentist. No joke. I only go in for a cleaning once a year when my insurance covers two - sometimes I can get away with a year and a half between visits. After my appointment with Dr. Arpin, however, I will definitely be getting my two cleanings this year. They are so nice and make you feel as comfortable as possible. As a new patient, I got x-rays - a procedure where i'm usually gagging and white-knuckling the seat until it's over. But the assistant gave me smaller bites and went really fast through the whole thing. It was almost comfortable! Almost... Dr. Arpin checked every tooth and explained everything in full detail to me, which wasn't needed but very appreciated. We chatted like friends and then I went in for my cleaning. Piece of cake! Cleanings are always painful for me, but again, it went really fast and they made sure I was as comfortable as possible. They made sure I understood everything they were doing too. I really felt comfortable in this office and everyone made it so easy to just sit back and let them do their job. I highly recommend if you're in the market for a new dentist. I can't say enough good things about Dr Macias, his sister Maria and the entire practice in general. My entire family has been going here for more than a decade. This is a wonderful family owned (I think it was their Fathers practice before and now Drs daughter works there as well). They never up charge or try to get me to do anything that doesn't need to be done. I don't have dental insurance and their pricing is very reasonable. I needed a deep cleaning broken into sessions and Rita was so kind and patient and put me at ease! As did every person I came in contact with! Great dentist! Wonderful staff! I love this dentist - what a great place. The doctor is very gentle and patient, he explains everything as he goes along, and will stop and make sure you're OK as he goes along in the procedure. My last dentist looked at me from across the room and said "you need a new crown". Dr. Macias has this nice little camera thing that shows you where you need a new crown, and he takes the time to explain why. Not overly aggressive about procedures (my husband's dentist tries to market all sorts of stuff to him all the time), but also not so conservative that he won't replace a filling if it's old and you ask for cosmetic purposes. The office staff is nice, excellent about handling insurance coverage (including primary and secondary insurances), and I've never waited more than five minutes to get in.
