The service was excellent. The ambiance was the same as at all of the restaurants (pleasant). We both ordered meals that we often ordered. I had the Chicken Scampi. It was semi dry. Not lots of sauce like I'm used to. Spouse had Seafood Alfredo and said the sauce wasn't very flavorful like usual. He didn't finish it take it home. I also had a strawberry lemon margarita which was delicious! We were served 2 baskets of very fresh bread. We took home 2 of the $6 Spaghetti meals, but haven't tried it yet. They sent it with salad and breadsticks even though they say they don't. This was the Olive Garden in Grapevine. It seems like it's been years since I have had Olive Garden, but I made an unexpected stop today on my way to lunch at another place. I have to say, I am glad I did! The mood was set from the moment I walked in with the Italian music creating an ambiance that was part relaxing and part appetite stimulating! Once seated my server Will came and introduced himself and took my order. I will have me great service throughout the course of my meal. My Chicken and Gnocchi Soup was a delicious start to my meal. The bowl was so big I was barely hungry when my main course, the Chicken Parmigiana arrived. It arrived so hot I had to let it sit 5 minutes before I could eat it without burning my mouth! Kudos for the longevity while still providing a decent experience. My first visit was in the mid-80's! Minestrone was great. Chicken gnocchi soup was not my favorite. Too bland and "milky" for that many calories. Maybe adding even more cheese, pepper and salt would have helped. The bucatini and spicy 3-meat sauce, both limited-time only's, were decent. Location in Grapevine is clean and well-kept. Service was a bit confusing because they have the kiosks on the table but apparently it's only for ordering apps / drinks and paying your bill. We have had several great experiences at the Grapevine Olive Garden. Service was friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly and never had to ask for drinks refills. For lunch, we enjoy the bottomless soups and salad. We also get the breadsticks and alfredo sauce. Delicious! The restaurant is clean and comfortable. It's never noisy. Second visit and this location has consistently performed well. A party of 3 on a Saturday night was quoted a 30/35 min wait. We were actually seated in about 15/20. The food and service were great! Met a friend here for lunch around 1pm on a Sunday. Despite the place being fairly busy, we got seated right away. Our server was friendly. I ordered the Minestrone soup, salad and breadsticks, my friend got the toasted raviolis as her entree with a bowl of Minestrone soup and my kiddos got the kid Mac and cheese and the chicken tender/spaghetti meals. The food was as good as always! No issues! The main thing was the wait. We didn't get our food for nearly 35 minutes. My kids kept eating breadstick after breadstick because they were so hungry... but of course that led to not eating most of their meals. I was getting a bit anxious because my friend had to get to work and I had to pick up my husband from the Cowboys game. Luckily, despite the wait, we were able to make it out in time... it was just longer than I anticipated. Cost-wise, a bit shocked that a single bowl of Minestrone soup was $7.50. A beautiful hidden gem in the shadows of Bedford , with delicious authentic Italian food Approved by my Italian family fresh out of Rome. And the soup is hittin'. Got here and they advised there was a 15 min wait and the restaurant was pretty empty. Waited about 10 minutes and we walked into the restaurant and it was pretty empty. They advised that they are short staffed and each waitress had only 3 tables each The waitress was fine and the food was good but the initial entry wasn't good. Solid service, but mediocre food in an atmosphere that is so timeless that it risks stagnation earns Olive Garden a medium rating from me. I remember Olive Garden seeming upscale. Perhaps my tastes have changed. Actually, I know they have. The problem for me, and possibly benefit to die-hard Olive Garden fans, is that it's *exactly* as I remember it when I first visited in the 80's and thought it was the s***. Who hasn't raved or known others who rave about Olive Garden's breadsticks, bottomless salad, and Pasta Fagioli? I recall this combo being a new and wonderful thing. Upon revisiting Olive Garden for the first time in some years, it seemed like kitsch. Soft, garlic-butter-dusted sticks of bread that are warm, nicely baked, and not unflavorful, but somehow feel like a State Fair gimmick. I would rather have bread I can butter myself. Asking for butter to spread on these is an option. But, the "stick" shape is awkward. The salad tasted oddly sweet and generic to me this visit as well. I added copious Parmesan to up the savory, but the dressing was underwhelming. It's also soggy, like it wasn't freshly made and had been soaking in the dressing for a while. We ordered Shrimp Scampi to split and it came pre-split on two plates, which I appreciated. The flavor was odd, as if some ingredient in the sauce was too strong. I'm not an Italian food aficionado by any stretch. But the strangeness was enough to suggest there might be something wrong with it. My date insisted it was the wine in the recipe. So, I didn't say anything to the server. Now, I'm wishing I would have at least asked. Service was attentive and friendly, though our server was stretched across more tables than usual and missed bringing us some drinks. He was apologetic and quite funny, actually. We are an easy-going crew so no big. He brought an big handful of the standard after-dinner chocolate mints and offered to give us extra drinks to go. At some point in the life of a successful restaurant chain, it's time to re-invent a bit (Steak & Ale, anyone?). I think Olive Garden is there. Had a great lunch today they have several very affordable options with a unlimited soup or salad bar and an entrée depending on what you select they range in price anywhere from 699-999. I tried the meatball pizza bowl which I thought was unique and different! I enjoyed the salad as always and of course the breadsticks that are also complementary. I was staying across the street at the Hilton and after a long conference day I was too tired to go far..However I was a bit skeptical as I am allergic to dairy and insulin resistant so I never really eat at Olive Gardens as it's all cheese and pasta/carby stuff. I asked Brendan the bartender if I had any options and he recommended a chicken or fish dish that had veggies that they could just modify for me. David the manager then came over and said they were putting something together for me and take food allergies seriously. He then later brought out my meal for me to make sure it was ok. The dish was simple but perfectly tasty and satisfying. I am giving 5 stars here for my experience with the staff and their attentiveness. Shoot, I've been to high end restaurants that didn't acknowledge allergies to this extent or where they've told me something is dairy free but it isn't. We haven't been here for quite sometime. The wait was 15 minutes; not bad for a Saturday evening. The chairs were dirty; we had to clean it ourselves. Disappointing. We were seated closed to the "corner" that leads to kitchen. That area is busy and sometimes can be loud. So if you want a quiet evening or if your party wants to have a conversation, avoid it. There was loud employee talking about having 3 jobs and that she was tired. Poor thing must be tired but it was a little distracting. The bread stick was old; it was tough. The food was average. My husband and I came her tonight after a long day at work. We were told it would be a 20-minute wait. The restraint was empty, but we politely accepted knowing there might be a server shortage. Two other party of 2s came in after us. When we did get seated, a server in our section said that another server, Kenny, would help us. We sat there for 10 minutes without being helped. I hadn't been to an Olive Garden in many years, and after going back this last Mother's Day, I realized that not much has changed about this stand-by chain restaurant. They offer the same basic menu: unlimited soup + salad combos, your typical pasta dishes, lasagna, and over-priced chicken and seafood plates. Also, a ton of fried-food appetizers (stuffed mushrooms, risotto balls, calamari, mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini, etc.). The food is always consistent; hot, comes out quickly, and never tastes bad... It just doesn't particularly stand out in any way or leave me thinking, "wow." Very standard chain-restaurant fare. There was a bit of a wait on Mother's Day and it was nice to see so many families doting on their mothers, despite the crowd. Olive Garden always has a decent sized waiting area which is much appreciated! Finally we were taken to our table and I realized how warm it was in the restaurant. Lots of bodies and not enough air! We had a brand new waitress help us out under the guidance of a more seasoned waitress. Everything went well, although a bit slow - which is to be expected on Mother's Day. Olive Garden's menu states that you can substitute any pasta dish or side with gluten-free pasta, but be aware, that does not mean your meal will be gluten-free. I chose the baked ziti with GF pasta because the menu said (and as most baked ziti dishes contain) "five-cheeses and marinara." When it came out, it looked and smelled delicious but also looked to be dusted in bread crumbs. I asked the waitress about it, and a few moments later the manager came out to tell me that the ziti dish was indeed topped with bread crumbs and that the sauce also had gluten in it. He was super nice about it and explained that I could only have the tomato pomodoro or marinara sauce, which the menu does state are GF. I should have read the menu more carefully and asked more questions. Now I know! Just be careful what you order if you have a true allergy or Celiac disease. I must say, when I used to go to Olive Garden years ago, I did truly enjoy the Zuppa Toscana (a potato soup with leeks and sausage) and the house salad. Always crisp lettuce, olives, fat tomato slices, and plenty of cheese. Oh, and banana peppers! I'm glad they still offer the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks deal because it really is some good food for a great price. Overall, I'm not their greatest fan and I don't find myself craving it, but Olive Garden is a reliable restaurant with consistently good food and prices that won't set you back too much (unless you're ordering the steak or some other "fancier" entree). I will say, there are some places that offer certain dishes that only they can make, I guess OG can be one of those places for me. This location was a little bit of a let down. While I was seated quickly I was waiting on two more in my party. When they arrived it took a bit longer for my waitress to get back to the table. More so when we ordered a pitcher of sangria it didn't come out with the appetizer ordered at the same time but rather after we were half way through our entrees. I almost asked to return it because it was ridiculously late at coming to the table. When we explained the situation, he took our order and got us another server, Daniel. Daniel took time to get us what we needed, with a smile. Tea glasses were quickly refilled. Another server, Chris, brought us backups to our teas. It was refreshing to see Chris helping Daniel who had a large party and a couple of additional tables. Olive Garden is a well known chain. Do I rate them the same way I would an authentic Italian restaurant? No, because it's not the same thing at all, but they have their good points. I rate places like these against similar chains, but this particular review will be rated against other Olive Gardens in the surrounding area. Olive Garden is usually a solid choice. They have a menu that is appealing to the masses and they typically execute it well. It may not knock your socks off, but it will be satisfying. They have fair prices for their portions and unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks during lunch. Based on the standard this chain has set, and my experiences at other locations, the Grapevine location has some work to do. I gave them three stars, but just barely, because I find consistency and execution important and I feel they are lacking in these areas. My most recent time eating their food was two weeks ago when I was buying my team lunch. Calling in our order was a pain because apparently they recently changed their menu and ours was out of date. I do wish this chain would stop changing their menu so often. Every time I decide I like something, they seem to take it off the menu. I have no problem with rotating seasonal items or introducing several new items every few months. It just seems that Olive Garden has a penchant for taking popular, crowd pleasing items off the menu and I think people find that aggravating. Or maybe it's just me, *I* find it aggravating. Oh well, not the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last. After finding out they took away my beloved crispy risotto bites (do I want zucchini bites instead?? No... what's wrong with you?) and my lunch duo tortellini (Seriously?? What kind of Italian restaurant IS this?), I finally just went with spaghetti and meat sauce. I chose the chicken and gnocchi soup as that is my stand by and added on a dolcini. Oddly enough everyone else on my team all wanted chicken alfredo and salad, but that's okay, I don't need to run with the crowd. :) The food was ready in a reasonable amount of time and all the orders were in the $8-10 range. That's not bad for lunch prices, especially since none of us were taking advantage of their unlimited lunch deal. So far, so good for things that are within the control of this specific location. The overall consensus on the food itself seemed to range from meh to okay. The feedback that I got ranged from off temperature and inconsistent portion size to a cook/texture issue. It seemed everyone had eaten their exact meal at a different location before and felt this wasn't as good. My own meal was okay, but I've had better at other locations, so I'm in agreement with my team. There seemed to be minor execution issues that may not get on the radar of a first time guest, but would disappoint someone who has been to an Olive Garden before. For example, the breadsticks were pretty close on flavor to what I expect, but they were hard. The texture and temperature being different does affect the taste and so my breadstick craving was quashed, but not because I had my fill. The gnocchi wasn't pillowy soft like it normally is and the portion of chicken was skimpy, but the soup tasted fine. The spaghetti was cooked well, but the meat sauce had a strange aftertaste. The dolcini I tried was the amaretto tiramisu. Though I have had their dolcini's before, I had not tried this one. I have tried their normal portion, traditional tiramisu though. This tasted fine, but was slightly soggy and not quite as sweet as I expected. Everything was close... but not quite right. I suppose for a cheap lunch, they were fine overall, but we'll honestly go somewhere else next time. When I go to a chain, it's because they offer a consistent product and this location could do better. Nothing was bad or inedible, just alright, hence the three star rating. A little more training for the kitchen staff and someone doing quality control while expediting will most likely fix up their execution and consistency issues nicely. As it stands, it will do for a quick lunch, but it's not a place I will seek out. read more

Maybe I misheard, but I seem to remember the word that Olive Garden is making a resurgence with either the milennials or the hipsters. I didn't hear any Mumford and Sons over the speakers, nor did I find any beard hairs in my salad - so maybe it was just the milennials that are discovering this place for themselves. I can't blame them for coming here. I came here for the first time in years recently - was catching an afternoon matinee at the nearby theater - and the location of this place makes it great for a pre- or post-movie meal. Of course, I had to have the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks deal. The soup ordered twice by me was the Pasta Fagioli, and it was as delicious as ever. Holly, my server, made sure it was served fast and she was quick to offer some freshly grated cheese on it. I didn't argue with that. The salad was also as delicious as I remember, although the dressing may have been laid on a bit heavily. But it was also good and fresh with no wilted lettuce. The condiments on the salad (tomatoes, onions, olives, peppers, croutons) were proportional and well done. The service was great and the food was pretty good. Is Olive Garden a secret pleasure? I haven't been to Olive Garden since I was stood up for my Jr Prom there in '94. So imagine my dismay when my sixth grader wanted to celebrate his first trombone concert by going to Olive Garden tonight. I held out hope that the breadsticks would flow, and that I would get at least 2 olives in the salad. and I did! That's where the good times stopped. I was reminded of the recipe change to the breadsticks years ago from deliciously seasoned Italian bread to sticks of recycled post consumer products. I forgotten, frozen Marie Callender's what have easily put my shrimp scampi to shame. I can't speak for the tour of Italy that my in-laws had. But unless it came free with a timeshare presentation I think they got screwed. That was fine though. I knew what I was getting as far as quality of food. But there was absolutely no excuse for was the impossibly bad service. They even have these little computer kiosk on the table or you can call the server or order a drink etc. I tried both neither worked. She never once stop to ask if we needed anything, and not want to bus the table. By the end it was a pile of salad bowls empty breadstick baskets and empty cups with melted ice. I push the table myself to the table next to us. They eventually came and took that away but still wet the empty bowls the pasta frijole my wife was eating stack up like Russian dolls. I should have left when I was told that information from my own waitress named Kelsey. You could tell she was fed up with the management, I overheard her telling several other of her tables about how crappy her job was including ME. Professional, I think not. I come to this Olive Garden every year for my dad's birthday. We had a group of 9 on a Friday night right at dinner time. This past visit we had a very friendly waiter, as well as other people who checked on the times. We were given wine samples when we arrived. I was able to build my own pasta with vegetables instead of meat, which was nice even though it is not an option on the menu. They threw together lots of veggies for me, and it was large enough to feed me multiple times! The only downfall of my visit at this time was that I was accidentally brought meat sauce instead of traditional marinara for the breadsticks, and I didn't notice until my first bite. Easy mistake to make, but I'm vegan so that was not my favorite moment. The waiter apologized and fixed it, and it was fine.
