It's okay, but it's not great. For a company known for maintaining such high standards in their grocery department, the café food could definitely use a little more flavor and creativity. We'll often stop in for a quick bite before shopping (because we all know shopping hungry is a mistake), and while nothing I've ordered has ever been bad, nothing has really stood out either. It's the kind of food that doesn't disappoint, but doesn't satisfy. On the plus side, the drink station is always spotless, and service is consistently fast and friendly. I also appreciate the live music outside, which adds a nice touch to the atmosphere. We usually skip sitting outdoors in the summer, though...it's just too hot for that Texas sun. lol Overall, it's a convenient stop, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to eat. read more

I want to live near by the store! It is so fantastic. You can find everything you ever wanted and some things you never knew you needed or wanted in here! They grow their own mushrooms that they sell in the store. You can find everything in the store. It is an education and a delight! They have many taste stations, which entice you to buy even more stuff than you didn't even know you needed or wanted! Lol! Just going through it, even if you don't buy anything is such an adventure! Always good to come and hang out, letting the kids play while grabbing a bite to eat before going grocery shopping.

I enjoy visiting Texas and stopping in at Central Market. They had nice valentines style candies. I enjoyed the taco bar and got queso (which was almost out), and I got pesto cream cheese which I have been enjoying on tortillas, chicken, sliced bell peppers. I also got spinach dip which I have always loved. I love walking the aisles and picking various things. I'll go back and check out the coffees and pick up a few types. I don't frequent this location often but was in the area with the kids. It's such a great lunch spot with affordable and tasty options for the entire family. The bonus is the outdoor fenced in playground for the kids. You have both options to eat indoors or sit outside while watching the kids. After, finish up your errands with a little grocery shopping. I've been shopping at Central Market since I was a child and have always had the utmost pleasant experiences. Today took the cake, not because of anything over the top, but because of a simple conversation that changed my day. I want to shoutout Keith who was working with the dairy products. He took the initiative to strike up a conversation, provided honest feedback and got me to invest in something I've never tried before. I was having a rough day and this conversation put the brightest smile on my face. This should be a reminder that it costs nothing to be nice, you never know what the next person is going through and interactions like this can give someone the boost the need to make it through the day. The central market burger is thick and juicy. I requested french fries but noticed one sweet potato fry was included. French fries were slightly crisp and sweet potato fry had a hint of sweetness. I will order a side of sweet potato fries' next time. Both were a great addition to the burger. The burger came with a good portion of vegetables. Plus, I added extra onions for no additional charge. The cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. All the food items individuals ordered looked appetizing. Many customers ordered in-house, and meals were presented on ceramic plates and bowls. There's a drink station and a condiments station on opposite sides. Service was friendly and professional. I was sent text messages while I shopped. I was notified when my meal was being prepared and when it was ready for pickup. Been to Central Market a lot, but had never been to the Café until the other day. I was actually quite impressed. Good variety of food for a café in a grocery store. Our group of 4 adults and one child each got something different and all were very pleased. Serving sizes varied based on the meals ordered. I had a special Thai Green Curry with chicken added. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, the curry was just the right amount of flavor and the chicken chunks added were adequate. Overall the serving was a little on the small side, but very tasty. My wife had a steak salad which had a generous steak topping and crisp lettuce. Well done and decent size. Also at the table was a pasta carbonara americano with chicken. This too was a generous serving. Flavor was good, but not outstanding. That said, for a grocery store café, above expectations. Next was a roasted veggie sandwich with vegetables cooked exactly right. Size was decent, as was the side Caesar. The little one had kids chicken tenders which looked better that most of those on kids' menus. A plus for this location is the outdoor playground with slides and things to climb on. Very much enjoyed. A negative was that most of the tables on the indoor patio were pretty dirty. We actually washed ours off pretty extensively before we sat down, actually having to push some old food off that was stuck on the slats of the table. That can easily be cured by having someone come through and clean a couple times a day. So, given that it is a café with a couple issues, I think a rating of "good" or "okay" is perfectly accurate. read more

It was so good until last year. This cafe use good quality stuff from the central market. However since last year I don't know what happened. The cooks changed or the manager changed or both. The cafes item went up about 30% increase. They are no longer cheap for good food. I used to get their hamburger for only $9 and so as their salmon burger for $9. Now they are $11 for the burger and the salmon burger is $14. They serve food for very quick but the tastes gone down hill. I wish they can spend time to cook. Everything I get their food is cold. It's not good any more. I'm sad because they used to be so good. They need to get their old cooks back. I'm sure the cafe knows their profit gone down. When I go to the market, I see the cafe with a lot of empty seats. Before it was full of people. I hope the manager realize this problem for raising high price and food quality went down. I've been following the demise of food quality at this sweet location for several years now. It used to be so good! I keep trying it, with fingers crossed, because I love the playground. What has happened to this place? It use to be nice! The outdoor dining furniture is so dingy. The finish is mostly worn off the chairs and tables. It looks greasy and dirty! After waiting 10 minutes, seeing the cafe workers socialize with an unending stream of regulars and work on what appeared to be an unending backlog of unknown persons' drinks, I discovered that they had forgotten my drink entirely, and the woman whom I had paid barely recognized me, but she did at least make my drink finally. Star 1: How was the service and wait time? -Service was excellent! He was patience and attentive to our needs. We got through the line fairly quick and received our food within 10 minutes. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the price? - Portions were decent. I ordered the turkey club and it was definitely more meat than veggies. With a side of fruit in a cup. I also ordered the chicken club and portions were excellent, paired with a side of fries. Star 3 and 4: How was the food? - My turkey sandwich was great, everything was in order and it didn't look sloppy. The chicken club was over cooked and was very dry, it was unbearable to continue eating it. You can tell the fries came out of the frozen section. Star 5: Would I come back? -Yes and no. NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN! Thought I'd surprise my wife with lunch at her work, which is close by to Central Market (where we frequently grab some lunch at the Cafe). We were unable to eat at her place of business so we thought we'd enjoy the atmosphere at the Cafe. After being seated for no more than 10 minutes, we were informed that "we don't allow outside food here." This forced us to go out to our car in 106 degree weather to eat our lunch. This incident is proof that Central Market values money over providing a service to their customers, and as such, we'll never be shopping here again. My advice: take a clue from Starbucks and others who are more interested in providing service than in making a buck! read more

Had a late dinner here around 845 pm with my husband and a friend. My experience here from the second I ordered was less than satisfying. The guy working the register couldn't have looked more miserable even if he tried. I get it, I don't like my job either but I make it a point to be positive and give positive vibes at work. This guy looked like he wanted everyone to feel as miserable as he felt and it bothered me... He took all of our orders without a single smile. Now onto what I ordered. I had the Monte Cubanos and their Sangria. The sangria was okay, but WAY too sweet for my taste. It tasted like there was a good handful of splenda mixed into it. I will not be getting that again. The description of the Monte Cubanos makes you imagine a Monte Cristo sandwich. Well I was very very very disappointed. The Monte cubanos is pretty much an overpriced grilled ham and cheese sandwich with soggy bread. The only part I liked about my meal was the sweet potato fries. Me and my husband are regulars here. They have a nice patio with live music on the weekends. The food is usually very good. They have a limited menu with daily chef specials, but they have a large gourmet deli in the store, which you can also get something from and heat it up in the microware and eat it in the restaurant or patio. The restaurant has a limited beer and wine selection, but the cool thing is they have a large selection of beer and wine in the store and you can buy in the store and have it with your dinner. They will open the wine and provide glasses. Its a popular place for families also because they have a nice play area for the kids. The store also has a coffee/esspresso bar with bakery items and gelato. All around good place with something for everyone that won't break the bank. read more

This once was my favorite place to eat when coming to back home to Dallas, but not anymore. My last few experiences was ruined the love I had for Central Market. From ordering to even getting salsa has chances for the worse. The employee I was ordering was upset due to having to change some aspects of my food because of my dietary restrictions. Then our food was ready and we walked up to food that had old bacon, sloppy eggs and a apathetic employee that refused to give us salsa... not sure why they do not just let us get our own salsa.. and not to forget there was egg shell on my tacos.. the only part of Central market that was outstanding was the coffee bar! I just love everything about Central Market and have just recently gained an appreciation for everything their wonderful Cafe has to offer. Oblivious I guess, I've walked past the yummy made to order menu 100s of times after getting something from the deli and taking it to a table. My bad because I've been missing out! Starving after running errands and about to embark on our final one, we entered Central Market on the deli side and our brains (and stomachs) were hit with the sight of beautifully prepared foods shining in all their glory under brightly lit display cases. Rethinking our approach, hubs and I decided it better to eat before grocery shopping on empty stomachs. There is A LOT to take in just browsing the expertly prepared deli-counter, daily soup specials, dessert counter, coffee bar, gelato case (and more!). But trust me, if you have time to eat, take a stroll over to the made to order menu and chalkboard of daily available eats. Everything is made fresh, is customizable and every bit of delicious you'd expect when made with Central Market ingredients. I'm partial to their pizzas, they give any local pizzeria a run for their money. My most recent date with perfection was their margarita pizza... loaded with fresh mozzarella, grilled roma tomatoes, and basil plus I added crumbled sausage and fresh mushrooms. Instant belly love and plenty left over for dinner later. Hubs had a half-pound burger on a rustic bun with blue cheese plus all the fixins and a side of fries. Excellent pre-shopping lunch for $20. We haven't ventured an evening meal but plan to soon. They have a great family friendly courtyard and live music on the weekends (kids playground towards the back) with outdoor seating in addition to covered seating and indoor seating. Breakfast is served until 11am and dinner through 10pm, and from what we were told by a fellow diner, you can purchase adult beverages to compliment your meal. read more

I typically avoid writing a negative restaurant reviews. I normally frequent smaller/individually owned cafes, and don't want to be a part of putting a person out of business. Since this Cafe is part of Central Market, a big company, with teams of people...it seems a little more "fair" to share a less-than-complimentary review. I work in the Southlake area, I went into CM for their grocery side grab-n-go items. I was disappointed in the lack of selection, especially compared to my home store in Dallas proper. I didn't see there was a Cafe until I was walking out of the store. Even then, I wasn't certain I was in the right spot. There were CM uniformed employees everywhere, and order counter was behind another set of sliding doors. There was no "Order Here" sign, and with cases of wine used as a display at Cafe register area, and no attendant at the register, it looked like a nice break room cafeteria. Apparently, 1:30 is prime employee lunch break time, because there was a flood of employees talking and getting their beverages. I understand the importance of being able to "be off" for awhile, but that doesn't negate common courtesy, right? I kept dancing around a group of ladies trying to get to the ice and tea, lids, etc. they barely budge out of the way, and seemed oblivious to anyone else in plain clothes. The inside tables were packed with CM breakers, it was a nice day, and a nice patio, so I headed outdoors. Nice patio yes, but it was dirty. Lots of bird droppings on several of the chairs, unbussed tables, and the ground looked as if it had been left unswept for a few days. I waited for my buzzer to go off. Waited, and waited. 20 minutes later, I thought they'd lost my order. I'd seen people in line behind me already get their food. Burgers and cooked items. No half sandwich and bowl of soup for me though. I go back inside, and I see the guy behind delivery counter carrying a big bag of something. Food related, but I didn't pay too much attention to what it was. He sees my buzzer in hand, and before saying anything to me, he turns, grabs a plate with a sandwich on it, ladles a bowl of soup, and then my buzzer goes off. I was the only one standing there, clearly he knew it was for me. He wasn't rude, but he certainly didn't acknowledge me or address me in any way. Back out to my table. I take my first spoonful of my Butternut Squash soup. Cold. I take that back, it wasn't cold, cool, or even remotely warm. It was perfectly room temperature, and thick, like pudding. I go back to the counter, telling the same counter dude that my soup isn't warm. He offers a different soup instead. I say the Tortilla Soup. Then he tells me that he "needs to open the bag first". OH. As in the big bag of food something he was carrying, under his arm like a bag of potatoes. My memory rolls to how many times I'd bought CM's soup, thinking they made soup hot and fresh IN the store. Assuming the bagged soup is no where near to soup temperature yet, I chose the final option Green Chicken Chili something. It looked more like cream based soup, but he called it a chili. Back out to my table. Spoon to mouth...the Green Soup is just as room temperature as the first. Back inside. At almost 30 minutes into my "quick grab lunch" I don't care about a replacement. I just want to eat. The counter dude is now by the condiment section. He sees me, and before he can divert his eyes, I ask if the bowl is microwavable. (Yes, it is). So I nuke my soup. The same soup that I waited over 20 minutes for, that if I would've known I was going to have to nuke it, I would have grabbed one from inside the store, a flavor I wanted, and nuked it at my office. Back to the table. Finally, a temperature appropriate bite. The patio is more crowded with CM lunch breakers. I hear two ladies border line gossiping about another employee. They both have on hairnets, while they are outside. Does that mean they go back into their food stations with the same hair nets that have been outside in the wind and patio area? Hmm....dislike. An employee sitting nearby winces at the same loud screeching noise I'd been trying to ignore. Every time someone inside walks by the sliding door, it screeches open/shut. She says to me how annoying it is, and she's going now to report it. She rocks! A CM'er that addressed an issue to the customer! Almost to my last bite, a manager steps through the doors, (screech) shouting to one of the hairnet ladies, "Can you come back from lunch early? We're busy, and have tour visitors." Sucks for her that he couldn't walk over to ask for a favor, and instead yells over the customer facing him. Finally leaving, every table is now taken by CM'ers. Some still in food prep aprons, coats, nets. The shouty mgr, standing at the door, makes no acknowledgment, or space, for this exiting customer. I had to step around him to exit. Gentleman much? Noted. Avoid the CM (break-room) Cafe at lunch. Especially the soup. read more

I'm a huge fan of the Southlake Migas - scrambled edges with tortillas and cheese served with a side of tomatillo sauce and breakfast potatoes. Ask for sliced jalapeños - they are a nice addition. I would like to give this a 3.5 stars. If I'm comparing this to another market such as market street, this one is way better. I have had their salads which are always good, especially their asian salad. Their sandwiches are always fresh and the burger isnt bad but isnt greasy enough for me to consider it to be an awesome burger. Their kids menu is decent and I like their fresh fruit. My favorite today was the israeli cous cous in the mezze platter which you can buy in the store. This is a spot I can easily enjoy with the kids before shopping. read more

Slow slow service (granted it was a Saturday afternoon) but it was so slow that my food came out slightly colder than lukewarm. Soggy fries and a cold panini was not what I had in mind for lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The only reason this gets three stars is because the flavors were decent and I loved the bread my sandwich came on (some crusty sour dough roll with just the perfect combination of a hard crust and spongy insides). Most likely won't be back unless I am in the area and can't get across the street to Which wich for a far superior sandwich. read more

Love this store. I love H-E-B and wish they had a larger footprint in the metroplex. Central Market is a close second to an H-E-B though. We love their cold pressed juices. The meat and seafood markets are stellar but make sure not to go on a weekend if you can help it. (Or go very early) Their butter tortillas are fabulous and everything in their prepared foods section is delicious. Everyone that works at central market is great and so helpful. Keep it up! The Café inside Central Market is more of a nice convenience than anything else. In my mind, the true benefit is ability to avoid being hangry while perusing the spendy items in the grocery aisles. With that in mind, it's quite nice that they serve more than just burgers and fries or some other form of "meh, it'll do" type food. While it's certainly not Michelin caliber, it's nice to get a decent cup of soup, or a tandoori wrap for a reasonable price. They also have a nice drink selection to wash it all down, and there's a coffee/gelato bar right outside if that's more your speed. read more
