We finally made it back. There are so many dining options in Surprise. Tonight, we're here to celebrate a 21st birthday. Avoiding carbs, I selected the Grilled Chicken Margherita. Delicious!!! (Topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto and a lemon garlic sauce. Served with parmesan garlic broccoli.) Of course, I accepted additional cheese. This dish is a winner. I highly recommend. Our daughter was treated to free dessert. She selected the Warm Italian Doughnuts. The youth liked them. One gave them an 8 out of 10. When last night with my fiancé to eat dinner. Place was very busy and we were placed on a weird spot of the restaurant. Service when sat was spotty, had no silverware for the appetizers, needed to ask multiple staff to get silverware and the food came out missing the protein. My family took me here for my birthday. 3 generations of us, 4 adults and 1 5 year old. We were put in a side room with twice as many chairs as we needed. My daughter moved some chairs out of the way so we could sit as a family. We waited quite a long time to give our orders and to be served. When we finished, we paid on their table machine, got up and left. No "how was your meal, can I get you anything else, does anyone want dessert"? Service was abysmal but since one of my daughter has been a server before, she left a tip. We plated our own leftovers then went home. One daughter who ate her meal at the restaurant became ill later at home. I gave my left over chicken marsala (which had congealed sauce when on the restaurant plate) to my dog. She got sick at home. The only positive was having my family around me, but we could have done that at McDonald's and paid far less than the $125+ we paid. Thank you so much, Olive Garden, for a great experience last night. My dad was visiting from California and staying in Surprise. We chose the Olive Garden on Grand for our meeting destination to have dinner. Top notch service all the way around! The parking lot was super busy so my husband dropped me off to put our name on the list. There wasn't a wait yet and everyone in the front was so helpful and nice. Once my husband and my dad arrived inside, we went to the table. Blake was our server and he was awesome. So friendly so prompt so attentive and happy. My wife and I had to change Valentine's Day plans because we had a change of plans when an immediate family member had to have surgery that changed today's schedule. So we were able to at least have a mini date here 30 minutes before close. I know it's Valentine's Day and no one wants to work and as a bartender I absolutely get that. However, when we got here (thinking they were open till 11pm) the hostess was polite, but also gave off vibes seemed as if they didn't know if they could take us. When I found out it was close to closing, I asked if carry out would be better. They said YES, so I went to carry out and the lady was SUPER polite and professionally warned us it it would take a while to order to go due to the amount of orders. So I suggested we order at the bar, and have a drink while we wait. The issue is I felt the eyes (not from bartender) and gazes from staff asking themselves " oh god not another table". I have a father-in-law and mother and wife who wanted Olive Garden and I felt too awkward to deliver. While I suggested it was no big deal, my wife felt uneasy and unwelcome which sucks because as a server/bartender myself, anytime a family or couple walks even 5 minutes before closing in I'm completely fine. I'm planning to work tilll close. But why not close at 8 olive? Why say your open till 9 if everyone is going to hate it? None the less I felt bad for my wife and now we are going to the grocery store to cook. I would suggest changing the closing time so guest don't feel awkward coming in toward the end of the night. I was more than happy to make it easy as possible to order a couple normal dishes even to go. But feeling unwelcome is not cool, just change the hours for the servers feel like serving please. read more

This has been our favorite location for many years. The food has always been great, until today. My husband and I ordered to go, the same meal, Tour of Italy. The first surprise were the rock hard bread sticks (this is always my favorite part of the meal, so very disappointing to start off). The second was the Chicken Parm. Way over cooked and crunchy? which was weird. The lasagna seemed like it had been sitting around a while, as it was all one texture. Both meals presented exactly the same, like they had been sitting under heat lamps all day. I'm sad. I hope it was just an off day. However, this experience has made our final decision to eat at home instead of getting food out in the future. read more

Consistently good service, sadly a rarity in this day and age but this Olive Garden gets it. Our servers have been consistently cheerful, social when the opportunity arises and helpful. Jeff was our server tonight and he was excellent, made suggestions and was friendly as if we knew him. The entire staff thanked us as we passed each area on the way out. Makes you feel valued and that they care to appreciate your patronage. The management staff was friendly too as I visited with a manager that stepped in to show me to our booth when waiting on my fiancée who was in the bathroom, considerate he was you can wait or I'll wait for her and show her to you. Yes, we knew there would be a wait and were told by this Teenie-bopper that it would be 20-30 minutes, the time was 5-ish. We chit-chatted and I finally as her I said we're the party of 6 and you told us 20-30 minutes. She said yes, really sorry but it's going to be longer! I said really, it's been 35 + minutes now. What's up? She said people are eating slow. If we all weren't hungry that might have been a grinner. I said how much longer? She said at least 30 minutes. Really? So why didn't you tell us 40 minutes ago? I got the equivalent of, that isn't my Job! Ok, let's be real folks, would you stay? We didn't. Not only that but in retrospect Olive Garden and Red Lobster aren't what they were. The menus are parred to bare minimums and the once classy service is now down to greeters that you might expect in the soup lines. On January 28, 2023 I had the salad, bread sticks and Italian donuts. Within an hour I started to experience a stomachache. The next thing I knew, I was in severe abdominal distress. I suffered the most horrific intestinal cramping of my life!! For the next three weeks I experienced the following; Paralyzing abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Sweats and weight loss of 10 pounds. I was in the emergency room at Banner Boswell Medical Center twice! The last time was Valentine's Day and I spent 3 days in the hospital. The $40+ olive garden bill has turned out to cost me probably a hospital bill of $50,000 to $70,000+. It cost me my new job that I had just started. I understand why they let me go as I couldn't go back to work. I'm still weak and trying to figure out my life again as I'm unemployed, weak, eating the brat diet and find ways to get stronger. My diagnosis was gastroenteritis aka FOOD POISONING. I'm VERY careful what I eat and thought olive garden was safe. I'll NEVER eat anything from there again and I definitely will never enjoy a salad ever again. read more

This place is really going downhill. The lot for Togo Orders is now I guess unsafe after dark. They now won't bring out your food after 9:00 pm but they still want a tip for lousy service. My wife and I had someone to watch the kids last Sunday, so we decided to go out to lunch and do some shopping around town. We had a gift card for Olive Garden and decided to use it up. Discounted/free food is usually always better than paying for food! We got there pretty early and were seated at a booth. We browsed the menu for a bit, ordered our drinks, and then placed our order. My wife went with a spaghetti witch garlic cream sauce and chicken, and I went with the eggplant parmigana. We both ordered the salad. Here is how everything was................. Salad and Breadsticks- Probably the best part of Olive Garden, honestly. I love all the croutons, red onions, and pepperoncinis in the salad. Olive Gardens dressing is pretty damn tasty, plus you get unlimited refills (we went through 2 salads). I'm not the biggest "salad guy", but I do enjoy theirs. Eggplant Parmigana- My wife was talking about eggplant parmigana the other night, and it struck a nerve. A. I hadn't had eggplant parmigana in YEARS B. It was reasonably priced (compared to their other entrees) and C. It sounded delicious! I was pretty happy with the dish. It came with 5 or so slices of eggplant which was battered and fried perfectly and it tasted pretty good. It was served with a side of spaghetti which I hardly touched (too full from all the salad I ate). Would I get it again? Yeah. It was tasty! Service was just average. Our waitress had a huge table next to us, so they occupied a lot of her time. Understandable. One semi-cool thing they have, are those tablet devices at your actual table. You can pay for your meal right then and there and be on your way. Or so we thought...... The machine wouldn't read our gift card so our waitress had to take it to manually enter it. No big deal. I paid for the balance with my card at the table and we were on our way. Will I be back? I'm sure someday, yes. I've never been the hugest fan of Olive Garden's (Think its too expensive for plain Jane "Italian Food"), but my wife likes coming here sometimes. It's been a few years since we've been to an OG. With all the new great Italian spots open nearby there are so many options. We decided to go with our kids as they've never been. Not too much has changed on the menu but the quality has dropped significantly. Breadsticks were stale and cold and salad was swimming in dressing. Chicken Parm crispy but the pasta was swimming in water. Kids pizza looked and tasted like it was microwaved. Service was good when available but he was stretched too thin and didn't see much of them for refills.
