The ambiance of Babbo's was one of the first things which struck me as a great place to sit down and enjoy great Italian meal. Where you can carry a conversation with people at your table and still be able to hear each other! The service was fantastic from the staff member who served us. He kept checking on us to make sure that everything was good and if we needed anything, as well as attending to other eatery guests. I tried one of their calzones and when it came out, it was beyond expectations as far as appearance and the taste was really good!! The other food that I had was absolutely amazing also! If you're looking for a different Italian restaurant to try, I would highly recommend giving Babbo's a try and if you're looking for genuine Italian food then I would say Babbo's is the place to go. read more

I called ahead and was told the wait would be about 10 minutes. This was great, as I was on a tight schedule. We arrived within that time but were then quoted a 40 minute wait. The hostess explained they don't have a phone at the host stand, which likely led to the mix up. I understand things can change quickly, but accurate wait times over the phone really help customers plan. Sharing this in hopes it helps improve communication. read more

Unfortunately, this dinning experience me and my boyfriend had on 8/28/26 was a pretty disappointing. We were really hoping for a great meal, but most of the food lacked flavor and didn't live up to expectations. The lemon ricotta pasta was bland and watery, and the chipotle chicken pasta was also very watery and lacked the rich, flavorful sauce we were expecting. Our shrimp, crab, and artichoke dip appetizer was extremely salty to the point where it was difficult to enjoy. Ironically, the best thing we had was the bread served with the oil and vinegar, it was fresh, flavorful, and honestly the highlight of the meal. Overall, the food was extremely underwhelming especially considering the prices. Once seated Grayson patiently answered my questions. My friend had the Smoked Salmon Salad, served on refreshing Arugula, she absolutely loved it! Lite, flaked no knife necessary. I had the Lemon Chicken Tortellini, I subbed with Rotini. Yumm, light lemon olive oil sauce, tender seared Chicken Breast, Pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes! Wow. Absolutely the worst Eggplant Parmigiana and linguine. The eggplant was dry and tough to chew. Tasted like an old leather sole. Told our waiter and he did absolutely nothing to make it better. My husband, myself, and our friend went to Babbo's on July 28th. We have always enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs but not this time. They have cut down on the spaghetti and the meatballs are smaller. My meal had loads of sauce that was watery. Very disappointed. Grayson, who was a very good server brought us bread which was not baked completely, very doughy. I asked for more bread and this time it was completely done. My friend ordered petite salad which was not petite (looked like it was just thrown into a little dish.) The pizza she got was not completely baked. So the one in Goodyear is our usual go to but our Daughter picked this location. Place was pretty empty - they wouldn't seat us because she was running a little late. Hostess was odd - I say odd as she would walk to tables and people would sort of follow as they weren't sure if they were supposed to - happened to us too. She walked all the way to our table and turned around - my husband said " were we supposed to follow her" I laughed and said "I have absolutely no idea" ‍ Service was fine other than we sat with dirty dishes all the way through dessert. However, because of my experience today at Babbo's in Surprise I feel like I should. my wife and my daughter, and her 6-year-old autistic son and myself went there for lunch. The first thing that irritated me was that we stood there for at least five minutes before anyone acknowledged that we were there. When the server, Ann, finally greeted us I asked her for a booth. She said she'd have to clean one off. Well, so we waited and she never came back. Another server asked how many in our party. I told her we were waiting for a booth (About 10 minutes, by then.) This server and Ann finally started to clean our booth. I think it must have been Ann's first day. She was dismissive and inattentive. When we finished eating, I got up to use the restroom, When I got back my wife had taken care of the bill. She left a very small tip. My wife has never really complained about the service at a restaurant. So, that gives you an idea how bad it was. Needless to say, we won't darken Babbo's doors ever again. We wanted to make a reservation but were told they only take them for parties of 6 or more. No one mentioned we could check OpenTable, which I found out too late for that to even be possible. We opted to get Babbo takeout for the 4 of us instead. We asked for two of our dishes to be without mushrooms; only one made the cut. Unfortunately, the mushrooms were throughout and some pieces were tiny, so the pasta dish wasn't eatable. I'm pretty disappointed in this location. They to drink I had the aperol spritz and wow so good! And what can I say about the bartender Lauren! She was amazing. Very attentive and helpful on telling us what was what on the menu. My husband brought me and our girls here to celebrate Valentine's Day, the day after because we wanted to avoid the crowd. Thought we'd try this place out since it was the closest Italian restaurant near our home. We arrived around 4 pm so it wasn't busy yet & were seated right away. Our server was really friendly but it took him a while to bring the bread out (it was brought out after our meals were served). We ordered the Artichoke, Shrimp, And Crab Dip to share. I had the Petite Babbo Simple salad & the wild mushroom & asparagus pasta with chicken. My husband ordered the chicken jambalaya pasta and added shrimp. My oldest had the Amy's lasagna and my youngest had the Alfredo Supremo. The Artichoke, Shrimp, And Crab Dip, salad, the bread and the lasagna was great. However, the other 3 dishes weren't so great. The sauces were runny & although the Cajun Jambalaya was spicy, the food was flavorless. My daughter actually made a comment that Olive Garden was better. We dined at Babbo a few times last year and thought it was pretty good. We decided we wanted a nice Italian meal today to bring home so we spent $70 on entrées and appetizers for the two of us. Everything, and I do mean everything was not just bad, it was absolutely terrible, nothing was edible. Ended up throwing everything out. Eggplant parm was 3 small pieces floating in a pool of cheap oil, the pasta pomodoro didn't even taste like it had olive oil on it. Tasted like they used some cheap corn oil, I asked three times when I ordered to make sure we just got marinara sauce and not vodka cream sauce, but they still ended up putting vodka cream sauce on. Very disappointing we will probably never go back there. Can understand if a restaurant gets one or two things bad but to spend $70 and have to throw out everything it's just not acceptable. read more

He said it was ok but wouldn't order again. Literally 3 bites in, our food came. (Sigh) can't we enjoy our salads first? I'm sorry, I'm being picky but I want to enjoy our $7 salads first since we're paying for them. My husband said his pasta was cooked to a perfectly, the sauce was a little watery but had a nice flavor and the meat was ok (hamburger). Mine wasn't really what I had pictured.....just a chicken breast with some mushrooms on top with other very overcooked veggies...cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots that weren't overcooked....felt like they just forgot and sautéed for a minute and threw them on my plate! I had only taken two bites and the waitress came by and asked if we were ready for the check and a box! Ummm, I'm sure I'll need a box...but can I at least enjoy a couple more bites? I guess we should've said yes, since after we were done we had to wait another 11 minutes before we even saw her come back to our side (the table next to us were also waiting for her to come back!) The restaurant is very nice inside and would be nice for a large group that wants some privacy since they have a nice large room in the back. This being the second time visiting, I don't think we will be back. Definitely not impressed for $85. If you do want an excellent Italian dinner - do yourself a favor and go to Portofino West! It's so nice when a local shares their favorite restaurant. My husband and I joined our friend for a family birthday. I loved the classy interior, from the beautiful waiting area outside to the chandeliers and lovely full bar. Booths and regular tables were available because we went to lunch early. By the time we left, the waiting area was in use because it is very popular, and rightly so. Service was friendly, all food arriving in a reasonable time, with water glasses and iced tea filled when needed. My pesto pasta was perfectly prepared, while the steak salad was huge and tasty. The birthday girl was given a giant chocolate chip cookie with two scoops of ice cream, with several spoons so we could all share. read more

We made a $200+ dinner order online, but it was kinda strange that online you can only do pick up immediately or within 30 minutes. Regardless, they were nice enough to let us pick up our order 2 hours from when we wanted it, and the food was piping hot. The free bread was yummy! The pasta all came piping hot! Some of the pastas are SUPER oily though - many of the bags were leaking oil... Regardless, we all enjoyed our dishes. Is there anything we would highly recommend? Love the bread it comes with. Weekday specials are a great deal. Reg prices are a bit high for pastas without proteins. Steak and blue salad is delicious but sometime the hot steak makes the lettuce a bit soggy. Pizzas are decent. Lasagna is very good as well as the calzones and specialty pastas. Yesterday for dinner I did an online order for a pasta dish with a wedge salad. I wanted extra dressing but it didn't let me add it online. So when I got to the restaurant to pick up my order I ask the server if I could get an extra side of dressing. She said "no". She said I could only have an extra side of dressing if I was eating in. After I pushed back she came back and said I could have the extra dressing but it was .75. I paid it because I wanted the extra dressing but told her I thought that was ridiculous. My girlfriend and I needed something good and quick for dinner as we were limited on time; we do not do fast food. Babbo's was an afterthought and we had no idea they had multiple locations like a franchise which we also try to avoid, always trying to support independent, small business owners. Although we found out later they have many locations we were quite satisfied with the food, wait staff, atmosphere and most everything. We both had the Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Pancetta. It was delicious. The rest of the menu items looked like they would be just as good, as well. I definitely recommend Babbo Italian Eatery as a great, casual choice with all the Italian food you would expect and even some good specialty dishes. Unfortunate as could be good. We came in and waited at the host stand for approximately 8 minutes, and no one greated us. Mind you, quite a few people walked by, but none acknowledged our existence. We were going to leave, but my wife really wanted to try this place. Finally, after about 5 more minutes had passed, my wife decided to leave, and as leaving, a server came by and stopped us and said he would sit us. Mind you this entire time, there was a manager by the bar playing with a TV remote, a bar tender standing and talking, and 2-3 servers walking by, and none even acknowledged our existence. Hindsight being 20/20. We should have left. The restaurant was not busy, but the server walked us through a dining room that was very unkempt, which makes me think they were either very understaffed for the evening or they are just a messy restaurant. Which is interesting as the ambiance is that of mid-scale Italian food. Regardless, the server that sat us, sat us in his section and we had to maneuver around tables that had no one at them, but every chair was pulled out and in the walking path and the tables still had stuff on them, not plates or anything, just crumbs and food. The table the server sat us at mirrored the rest, he had to towel off the chairs, push them back in and wipe down the table, before sitting us. They bring in some onion bread with oil and balsamic vinegar, this was pretty good. I had a spicey italian sausage pizza, my son had spaghetti with meatballs, and my wife had their seasonal summer salad. The food was actually pretty good, I enjoyed my pizza, and the crust was good and generous on the toppings. My wife lived her salad and saved half for lunch the next day... the issue came that night. The food tore up my insides something fierce and around 3 a.m., so approx 9 hours after dinner, I was regretting life choices. Overall, the service was OK. The server was fairly busy, with seemingly having tables spread throughout the entire restaurant and not enough time to help. The only manager presence I saw was the same manager camping at the bar for the hour, plus we were there. Overall, I won't be back. The food isn't worth the stomach issues after or seeing the restaurant so messy. I feel like they have a lot of potential as they do have good-looking food and a beautiful restaurant. We came early waiting on others in our party. The bartender was amazing. They have great happy hour drinks and appetizers. The food was good but not outstanding. They do add a charge to your bill that is 2.3 % for inflammation which made some others in our party not happy. I did not see it listed anywhere prior to is ordering so I can see where some would be unhappy with the unexpected charge. Due to that will not be coming back.
