They made the hot sandwiches I ordered right away....done in 5 minutes....and then one of the soups was finished immediately after. However, after paying and completing my order, it took 25 minutes before I finally got back to my car, even though there was only one person in front of me who had already finished ordering. By the time I got home, we had to reheat our food because the grilled cheese and soups were cold. Not the Same Quality as the Verrado Location We're regulars at the Zupa's in Verrado, which is always consistent and fresh. So we were really disappointed when we tried this other location--it just didn't compare. Food Quality The greens looked wilted, except for the chopped lettuce. I mentioned it to the staff and they just stirred it around, which didn't help. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it's because they barely had the AC running--it was just barely cooler than outside in the dining room. Meanwhile, the Verrado location is always crisp and cool, which makes a big difference when it comes to food storage and comfort. The bread wasn't fresh or soft like we're used to--it felt like it had been sitting out too long. My daughter took one bite of her chicken noodle soup, tried dipping her bread in it, and then refused to eat any more. That's how bad it was. It was oily, bland, and totally unlike the flavorful version we always get at the other location. My husband ordered his usual Southwest Potato Soup, and after a couple of bites, he pushed it aside. He said it tasted funky, like it had been sitting out too long or wasn't stored properly. Value We spent $56 for three people and left feeling unsatisfied and frustrated. That's too much money for food that no one enjoyed or wanted to finish. Cleanliness & Comfort The place was clean, but not busy at all--which only made the poor food quality more confusing. While we love Cafe Zupas I'm not impressed with the drive thru service tonight. After nearly 15 minutes waiting my Mediterranean sandwich is finally ready. Nothing special, no changes just the sandwich. While sitting here I can see two employees chatting it up near the drive thru window. And no body in line. So what was the hold up? I understand they're busy but there's not been one time that we received our food in a timely manner. I don't usually mind waiting because the food is USUALLY good. This time I waited over 30 minutes past my estimated pickup time and received a cup not even half full of cold soup, and a cold sandwich. Which would have been super good if it was warm. My experience eating at Cafe Zupas has always been great. Their staff is super friendly and courteous, their service is fast, and the food has consistently been fresh and delicious. The restaurant is cafeteria style so your food is assembled right in front of you. You can sample all of their soups before you order, so you can try before you buy. I have tried about half of their menu, and I look forward to trying the other half. I highly recommend the curry soup and ALL of their deserts. read more

I ordered the combo, lobster bisque (amazing), and the California Cobb Salad, which had more toppings than it had greens. Perfect. But that's not all...with the combo you also get a baguette and chocolate covered strawberry, all for $12.95!! My spouse got the mushroom bisque, which was incredible!! I also got a premium drink. Pineapple, coconut and OJ which was perfect as it was 112 outside!! Talk about value..soup, salad, roll, dessert and an ice cold thirst quencher, all for $15. The secret to getting your money's worth here is eating in. If you get it to go, the portions are so much smaller. The food is yummy. My go-to is the BBQ chicken salad. I noticed I get really bad headaches, so today I asked them about the dressing. They use Hidden Valley for the ranch. It has MSG, so that explains my headaches. I will skip the dressing, and just do the BBQ sauce. I felt much better eating it that way. They offer a kids meal fir ages 10 and younger. They get 2 items, a drink, and a chocolate covered strawberry. They were so thoughtful to let our girls with a limited diet do two soups, rather than a soup and sandwich. They like the soups so much. Quite a treat. They really should have a dedicated cleaning person full time. It gets busy here, especially on the weekends. Even when it is quiet, the tables, floor, trash station, and condiment are is so dirty. Today there was a mess across the tables, floor, including stocks of dishes. They sat the entire time we were there, and then some. That was about an hour. No place to sit until someone cleans. I know of many other establishments that are busy often and have a great system to tackle messes immediately. It makes it more pleasant to eat and sit down. We only grabbed a seat because I an a weirdo that carries wipes, so I could clean the table myself. Ordered a BBQ Chicken Salad with no black beans or olives. Got half way thru the line when I noticed there were black beans and olives in the salad. I reminded her of my request. She proceeded to hand pick the items out my salad and put them back into their original container. My salad has ranch dressing and chicken in my salad already. That is cross contamination. We ordered via Uber eats and we're pleasantly surprised! We got the brisket sammie and the turkey avocado one and both were filled with strong flavors. The bread was firm and not soggy, which can be hard to accomplish with take out and delivery. I also LOVED the little covered strawberry, as it was a nice surprise. Third visit to this location. Food selection good. Soups and salads much better than sandwiches, which tend to be lite on the fillings and heavy on the bread. We had the new Lasagna soup. Would have been excellent had it been hot. This was served very lukewarm. I went up and mentioned it to them. The look was a bit blank and was told it shouldn't have been. Of course not! The most difficult part of this visit, (and to a degree the other two visits), was the cleanliness. This visit was really to the point of being dirty in the dining area. Tables were not cleaned and the return area was filthy. I don't think they have the staffing to multitask. I walked in and headed to the ordering counter as I was not sure where pick up was since this is my first time here. I was looked at in confusion as if I walked into someone's personal home uninvited. I said I was picking up and someone said I think we are still making it so I sat down at a table. There are 3 people dining in as I sit here writing this and 2 in line ordering. My order said it would be done by 2:40PM and I did not receive it until 3:07 PM. Cafe Zupas needs to update their texts saying "it's ready" when it definitely was not. I should have just ordered inside but lesson learned. Very disappointed; usually love Cafe Zupas, but NOT this Prasada location in Surprise, AZ. Ordered through the drive-thru; long wait for anyone to even get to pay window. Was then directed to park, wait. Waited for nearly 25 minutes! No one ever came out. I went in. Upon going inside, I immediately noticed the dirty floor in the dining room and an overall dirty and weirdly chaotic feeling. I would not have ordered had I gone in initially and had seen this. It took a few minutes before anyone asked what I needed. I explained the situation. They seemed unconcerned. As well, they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. The employees were clueless and had zero communication skills. Finally I just asked for a refund. It took a few minutes before the manager was able to get to me. Once she approached, and after hearing my issue, instead of asking what she could do to keep my business, she offered an excuse of "we got slammed". I turned and looked at the dining room. Yeah - maybe four tables. Hmm... I don't know... between the less than welcoming dining room appearance, the confused zombie employees, and the overall lack of an offer to make things right, I will not be back to this location. Go to the one on Bell Road over by the BBQ place - it may not have a stellar review either, but my experience at that store is far better than the Prasada store. My wife lives the place as she feels she is getting healthy food for a reasonable price... and the chocolate strawberries... this location is new and was very bright and clean. There was food and trash all over the floors. The tables were all dirty. 61.00 for two salads and two small soups. No salt and pepper any where in the restaurant. When we asked them to wipe off our table a kid comes out with a dripping rag and the table was soaking wet. I asked him to wipe down the seat because there was food smeared into the seats. The seats were then so wet we had to dry them with napkins. The soup was mediocre and the salad was less than enjoyable. There was no apparent manager running the restaurant and employees appeared to have little or no training. The menu pricing is deceiving. On salads they charge from 1.99-5.00 extra for EACH item considered protein. I don't mind paying up for good food but it was terrible for what we were charged. read more

Great experience today at this newest location. It's no secret the area has been in need of more healthy food options. My friend and I decided to stop inside around 11 to a pretty busy rush . The inside is quite nice and colors light and makes it feel larger. There was a line, but was moving fast. We were able to look over the menu without holding anyone up. We both decided on the chicken enchilada chili and half a salad. I chose the cob while my friend chose chipotle glazed. Both came with a piece of bread and a chocolate covered strawberry, yum. We chose two fountain drinks, but they offer other canned drinks as well. If you've never been to Cafe Zupas it is a line order so they do everything in front of you. Service was great and very efficient. We even were allowed to sample some other soup for next time. Prices were fair and around $15 for all. Everything was so good and fresh. This location does offer a drive thru if you don't have time to dine in. Parking in front is pretty slim, but there is additional parking behind the store closer to Dicks or Burlington. read more
