I've ordered delivery from this Olive Express a couple times and found it flavorless and soggy. Most recently, I ordered the fattoush salad, which is supposed to have mint leaves and ras al hanout spice, and a dressing made with lemon juice, pomegranate molasses, and garlic. NONE of these flavors were present in the salad, and the pita chips were soggy. It was a salty, soggy lettuce-fest with visible but unflavorful sumac sprinkled on everything. Previously, I've ordered their tabbouleh salad, and it's not as good as other Olive Express locations'. One last nitpick: they're consistently out of stock on Sobe Lifewater and Fuze and substitute soda instead. read more

Let me start off by saying that their food is delicious. They are always happy to replace the items to my liking. Love their garlic sauce, and very reasonable pricing for the amount of food. It is truly a nice office cafe. But that's just it, it is an office lunch cafe. If you want the delicious shawarma at 7 PM or grab it to take it home, you can't get it. I was fortunate to work within a mile from this place for several years and did many catering and lunch orders from here. They do tend to forget items when delivering, not consistent with the timing etc, but all is forgiven when the food is tasted. Now that i work an hour away from this place I miss it so much. I wish, they open a full restaurant/cafe in the Herndon/Reston Area. Or open several office location in sterling, ashburn, chatnilly and tyson's corner area. Tucked away in the bottom of a corporate office block. Lebanese/American food. Stick to one or the other. Falafel balls fried too much, dry and hard. Shawarma chicken sliced too thin dry. No you cannot coat it with spices and pretend it is a shawarma. Hummus very good. read more

This is a neighborhood gem in the Ballston area. It is tucked away in an office park off of Glebe road near a restaurant called SER. Olive Express offers excellent casual middle eastern food with a delicious attention to detail. Both their chicken and steak shawarma are excellent and their kabobs are superb, especially considering there are so many kabob restaurants in this area. I ordered from Olive Express yesterday when I was home sick. I looooove Mediterranean food, and after seeing all the positive reviews I was so excited to chow down. I waited over an hour for my food because the driver went to the wrong address, which isn't really a big deal and I truly didn't mind waiting an extra 10 or so minutes. When I finally got my food, I was more than disappointed. My food tasted less than fresh. The bed of lettuce under my Tabbouleh was soggy and had the consistency of rubber. I also ordered a beef gyro, and the spot where my bread was touching the beef was soggy, like completely dissolved soggy. You could just tell that the food had been sitting for a while. I did order in the morning, shortly after Olive Express opened, so I'm guessing that I got the previous days leftovers. I'm not one to write negative reviews, I actually don't think I ever have. I don't usually have extra money to spend on ordering delivery but, I was sick and decided to treat myself. so I spent $35.00 for food I couldn't even eat. Just disappointed. read more

I tried the chicken shawarma and chicken panini - they were both absolutely delicious! My husband had the gyro sandwich which he really liked. The fries were a little soggy but probably because they were transported in the plastic container (we ordered delivery). I know some delivery places poke holes in the container with fries - it prevents the sogginess from the steam being trapped inside (just a suggestion). We also ordered the mixed grill platter - again, it was warm, the rice was very flavorful and it came with plenty of veggies and a salad. I was desperately hungry so I ordered delivery from Olive express via Grub Hub. My first time ordering and it was super easy! I ordered the Falafal platter, chicken gyro, a salad, some fries and a cookie. Everything was super fresh and still warm by the time it arrived. I was so impressed with the amount of food you get for the price as well. The only thing I was bummed about was that you had to have a minimum order of $25, so I was worried that if I ordered that amount that maybe it wouldn't all be good. But I'm glad I did! My office has ordered pretty regularly from Olive Express, and while I've never been impressed with their delivery speed, the food has always been tasty and very good value for the money. Unfortunately something has clearly changed. We ordered lunch today, only to find that they started using new containers and the amount food we received (for the same price mind you) has been cut in HALF! Not only that, but the food was barely warm (despite a quicker than normal delivery time of 40 minutes from order), the rice wasn't nearly as good as normal, and the steak I had very tough (even though it was pink inside). The "side salad" consisted of approximately 5 pieces of lettuce with olives and tomatoes tossed on top, and the "balsamic vinaigrette" has no flavor whatsoever, and certainly had no balsamic vinegar, resulting in what tasted like wet lettuce. Suffice it today, my office is going to be looking for a different place to order Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food from from now on. read more

I had the chicken cordon bleu and it tasted nothing like a chicken cordon bleu sandwich. There were strips of the grill chicken they use for their platters melted with swiss cheese, tomato and mayo. No ham. No breaded chicken or mustard. I wouldnt order this again. read more

Tried the Steak Shawarma platter and the Steak Kabob. Both were very good. The kabob meat was cooked the way I like it, closer to medium. It had a good flavor though I could have done with a bit less rice. The chickpeas were pretty good but some were a little undercooked. The shawarma was cooked more thoroughly than the kabob and it had a stronger flavor which I really enjoyed. It wasn't shaved but more like small chunks/pieces. This "restaurant" is in a large office building in Reston (I think it's one of the SAP buildings), which I'm sure is great for employees who work there but for someone looking for a nice place to eat lunch, there are literally hundreds of better options in Reston. I ordered the falafel sandwich which had a strange zing to it - I'm not sure if it was the pickle spears they stuffed inside of it or some other strange spice they added in. The main reason I stopped here was for convenience so I could use their wi-fi to get some work done. Was a little annoyed after several tries of using their passcode that it didn't work. Doubtful I'll return unless I am desperate. First world problems.... read more

This place has the best home made hummus I've tasted! I come here 1-2 times a week, the service is always great and the food is good. They have a new special each week which is always something unique. I love their sandwiches, I tend to get the turkey sandwich a lot. The good? the enviorment is clean so that's good. Lot of places feel like a dirty cramped closet. This is roomy, quiet, and very clean. Now the not so good. I am not one to find not finishing a meal. Especially a burger. I'll break it down. So the bun, they tried to toast bun but the point of a toasted bun is to protect it from liquids and juices so it dosent get soggy. This is not what happened. The bun was pretty under toasted leaving me a soggyish burger bun. The mayo. I love mayo. But not a 1/4 inch patty of it. I had mayo dripping out of the burger and soaking my under toasted bun. Lettuce was good and crunchy not wet. The patty itself...nice and big, thick, very juicy , all good. Now the juice of course, became an issue with the said bun. Add the amount of mayo.... things got very liquidy. But I liked I didn't get skimped with a wimpy little burger patty. Overall, I think they could have gotten at least another star from me if the first ingridient in the burger was not salt....so salty..... I had to toss the last 1/4 of the burger. I could not finish my food. It was crazy salty. As were the fries which is very good to me. I love my fries nice and salty. So that was good.... IF they hadent been frozen type fries from the grocery store. I did get a brownie , which was absolutely delicious. Best thing I ate there though sadly. At just shy of $12 I have definitely had much better meals, served much faster, and more of it. All in all I may eat here again only because I'm here anyway for a couple days and it's convenient. Won't get the burger. I don't know what I will get seen as they're menu is a bit small. But I sure wouldn't go out of my way for this place. read more

Pretty decent portions and quality for the price. I had the mixed grill kabob. A little bit too much parsley in the kofta, and I thought it would have come with some pita -- but other than that, everything was on point. If it's within driving distance of your office, definitely worth checking out for lunch. I would have appreciated a plate of some sort instead of being served in a plastic take out container, complimentary sauces would be nice and you may walk away smelling like fried food, but it was clean and the staff was courteous. In fact, a few years ago I traveled to the Middle East and sampled a wide variety of excellent food there, giving me an idea of what the natives think is good, which is usually the best in any particular genre. I can say that the food at Olive Express is just as good as anything that I sampled there. The beef shawarma platter was incredible, featuring a wide variety of excellent flavors that reminded me of how things are supposed to taste. The food here is OK, but a pretty good price. $5.50 for a decent gyro is not bad at all. I have received the wrong order on two occassions, and missed items on one occassion. The food quality and portion size has declined over the past year. I am raitng this place one star because when food trucks began to show up in the area they called the police on them. Olive express had at least equal product than the trucks, and a cheaper price.
