We stopped in here for lunch this afternoon. The staff was very friendly. For a starter we ordered the falafel appetizer with tahini. It was tasty. My husband and I shared the kabob platter with chicken and kubideh and the gyro platter. The gyro was the star of the proteins. I prefer the chicken over kubideh and my husband was the opposite. Wow for $60 for 3 plates of kebab meat (2x filet allegedly and 1 chicken) rice and some veggies I was expecting some good flavor instead the whole family was let down by the food that was served in styrofoam plates, plastic cups, and plastic utensils. The filet didn't taste right or good and the same for my wife's chicken which she only ate a little bit of. We were the only patrons in the establishment during the whole time at dinner. I absolutely love the food here. It was fresh and delicious. You order prior to sitting down. They are rather fast at getting food out. Everything was served hot. Honestly, the only positive thing I have to say is that they must have a sense of humor given the way they present their hummus appetizer as two boobs complete with olive nipples. I knew of Sorrento Grill's existence but never thought of trying it. That all changed when I saw Yelp friend Mo M.'s ROTD. In these days of COVID, we've been getting take out and wanted to expand on our list of restaurants where we can place orders. With all the good reviews here and a look at their menu, we knew we wanted to give them a try. So, we placed our order through Door Dash. We both ordered the filet mignon kabob with saffron basmati rice and roasted vegetables. As we were concerned that the meat might be overcooked, I added to the request part of the order "medium rare". I figured that would send a message that said "please don't cook the meat to death". The order arrived in a timely fashion. It smelled so good that we just about couldn't wait to dig into it. What surprised us is that it didn't look like what we considered a kabob to be, which is cubes of meat on a skewer. Instead, it was a long and narrow piece of meat. We really enjoyed this meal! The meat, while not medium rare, was medium well but still very tender and flavorful. The rice had enough moisture and there was a tinge of saffron. The grilled veggies consisted of zucchini, a wedge of onion and 2 tomato quarters. They were all perfectly cooked. I gave my husband most of my onion as I wondered if it was properly grilled. It turned out that it was properly done and the grilling did give it a nice flavor---which took away the pungency. Next time, I'll keep my portion. The order also included several pieces of toasted pita triangles which had the consistency of a cracker. There was a cucumber mint yogurt dipping sauce which worked very well with the pita. We most definitely will be ordering this dinner again from Sorrento Grill! read more

It's the first Friday of Lent and my hubby and I were pondering what we wanted to eat. Offering suggestions to each other we both at the same time said Sorrento's Grill‼ It has been a favorite of ours for a long time, but you really can't beat their Salmon Kabob Platter. We eat a lot of fish in our diet but Sorrento's Salmon Kababs are so wonderful! The meat is tender and not dried out. The outside seasoning is just amazing and they grill it so it is cooked to perfection. I hate to take a bite of salmon with anything else except their wonderfully cooked rice because I hate to miss any of the flavors of the salmon and it's seasoning. The seasoning does not overpower the tasty bites of salmon but compliments it beautifully. Though they have lots of options, which we have enjoyed over the years, I would have to say the Salmon Kabob Platter is our absolute favorite. So if you are searching for a great fish meal during Lent, I would highly recommend Sorrento Grill. They have other options like salads and wraps you can enjoy. Bon Appetite everyone! read more

Well, just to remind you that I'm a former native NYer, to Brooklyn, I might add. My years after college were spent in Brooklyn Heights, around the corner from Atlantic Avenue, known as Brooklyn's middle-eastern gastronomic headquarters. My bedroom window was right across from where Sahadi's Pita Bakery was located. So when I tell you that I KNOW good middle-eastern food, take me at my word. So now let's talk about Sorrento Grill. Can you see where my fusion/confusion stems from? Sorrento is a wonderful southern Italian city on the Amalfi coast. Ok... well, this place bills itself as a Mediterranean food place, serving kabobs, falafel, hummus, etc. Italy does jut into the the Mediterranean. So.... Ok, so the food.... Had a falafel wrap, which didn't at all taste like falafel. But in the realm of looking like the real deal, I guess I'll allow it. The inside was green, so not sure if chickpea flour was used. But it was green. Aside from that, it tasted ok, not what I was hoping for, but not bad at all. The balsamic vinegar drizzled on the wrap really confused me, though. We had some "eggplant dip" which in Middle-Eastern cuisine is called, babaganough. But it didn't have any tahini sauce, or lemon juice, or much garlic in it, if at all. We were disappointed in that. It looked like/tasted like roasted eggplant, with some spices added. The decor was very clean, modern, take-out ambiance. Menu was up above the ordering counter, as well as the kind to sit down & peruse at your leisure. The bread was probably the very best part. No disappointment there. The food was tasty, just not what I was craving This is a place-your-order-at-the-register, then pick-up-your-order-later place. Fill your drink at the side cooler tap. So there's no table service. The menu looked very varied, flowing between "Mediterranean", American, a bit of Italian (Tiramisu made an appearance on the desert menu!) It was pretty ethnic-fluid. read more

Fantastic take-out lunch. Ordered and paid on line (super easy process on their website) and picked up in person. I wish I had taken a photo, because the presentation was very appealing -- bright colors with fresh everything. I had the Lamb Gyro Platter -- it was really outstanding. I liked noticing that a few local police officers were having their lunch inside the restaurant when I arrived to pick up my meal. It's always a great endorsement when you see cops eating in a restaurant -- it's like eating in an airport and noticing there are pilots/flight attendants in a restaurant. I was excited because from a distance you could tell everything was made fresh to order but alas the chicken was gross and I ate half and just threw in the towel. I was hoping with more tazaki sauce it would get better....it didn't. Intially they brought us some fresh naan bread and Tazaki sauce I assumed we were winning. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend. This place kinda reminded me of Moby Dick House of Kabob. The restaurant is pretty casual with a counter to order food at, with tables and booths spread around. The food is not served to the table, it's picked up at the cashier area. The rice is always so fluffy and meats are juicy and flavorful. Service wise, the lady at the counter is very nice and friendly. The food here is just simply amazing. This place is great. I love their daily specials, even though I've tried one, the chicken thigh with flavorful sauce. I was expecting it to be more expensive, but it was only $14. My friend ordered a mix kabob, and the meat was so juicy and not dry at all. The food came out quick and hot. We really enjoyed the meal. Only down side is that they were using Styrofoam plates. I have walked past this restaurant dozens of times and decided to give it a try with a to go order. I walked into a nearly empty restaurant and ordered two salmon kebab dinners to go. Prices are above average. My order was ready in about 15 minutes. I must start off with some of the most tasty pita bread I have ever had and very warm, with unique unique texture. The rice was a mix of white and yellow rice a little firm but a huge serving. The salmon kebabs were wonderful and they were prepared perfect. The cube sizes were rather small but very tasty in a very light marinade, that had a very light taste. The cucumbers and tomato slices were each char grilled and juicy but not to much to eliminate their natural flavor. They had outdoor seating as well but it was a little too cold it was not set up.
