I visited Oliveira's as a last-minute change of plans due to the rain and was able to secure a reservation just 15 minutes before arriving--super convenient! When we got there, parking was available right in front (street parking), and we quickly rushed inside to avoid getting soaked. The hostess greeted us and seated us within just a few minutes. However, the seating area felt cramped. My chair kept bumping into the one behind me, and I had to move often for the servers to get by. The table behind us was a large group, and every time someone arrived, they cheered loudly--cute at first but a bit obnoxious after a while. We were so close to the table next to us that their belongings ended up on our table when we stepped away. We chose the all-you-can-eat option, so we went to the buffet to grab sides. The line was a bit chaotic, with no clear flow, and it felt a bit cramped as we bumped into each other. That said, the variety of sides was amazing--different types of rice, chicken, pork, BBQ ribs, oxtail, yuca, cheese, plantains, salmon, and other fish. The salad selection was also a refreshing touch. Once back at our table, we turned on the green light, and the servers began bringing around the meats on skewers. We didn't leave hungry! I was debating giving it three stars but ultimately had to give it 2. First off, nothing was inherently 'bad'. The cuts of meat were good (although kind of salty) and the wait staff were friendly and nice. The reason I am giving it two stars is the overall experience. A table of four, we were sat almost towards the back of the room when plenty of four person tables were available near the front. All the tables and chairs are really close to each other, so leaving and getting up is a hassle with people bumping into you left and right. The salad bar was lacking a variety of stuff - an example is they had tomato and mozzarella together, tomato's and mozzarella separate. and it was like that for some of the items which made it seem like they just wanted to fill in the space. And if you are doing the all you can eat rodizio, especially because we sat in the back. i felt like we didn't get as much meat coming through so we kept filling up at the salad bar. I think i tried 5 types (steak and cheese, lamb chop, picanha, chicken wing, and steak with chimichurri) whereas there were so many more selections I didn't get to try. The price I believe was 57 ish a person before tip and tax and although a good value, I feel like we got the short end of the stick by not getting as much meat. If I were to come back I definitely would be trying the takeout by the pound, but I don't think i would do the all you can eat again. read more

Enjoyed my experience here at Oliveira's Steak House. We got seated right away despite having no reservation so that was lucky. We were seated on the outdoor patio which was quite lovely and the weather was perfect. Our table was wobbly but they helped us fix it. We started off with a pitcher of the red sangria which was great. We then decided to order the all you can eat option which is where they bring you unlimited meats. You can also go up to the buffet as much as you want. They give you a card so when you want more meat, you leave the green side up, and when you want a break or you're done, you flip it over so it's red. Cool concept! The meats were some of the best I've had. Juicy and flavorful is how I'd describe them. The steaks were excellent. The buffet food was also delicious, my favs were the potato salad and rice. They also brought pao de queijo to the table which was so tasty. The more you say yes to the faster you get full, so definitely pace yourself and think about the things you want to enjoy!! I really wanted to try one restaurant during Dine out Boston week so I decided to go with something I never get enough of: MEAT. So I headed over to Oliveria's Brazilian steakhouse to try their AYCE deal. They had a special this time with AYCE meat and buffet table as well as adding in drinks and dessert and we paid $55per including tax. The inside of the restaurant is way facier than I was expecting considering this is an AYCE place. The staff were also very great in bringing the meat around but it got busier later in the evening when it was time for the check. The great thing is you can pay via QR code on the receipt. There were lots of different meats: sausage, sirloin, beef with cheese, beef with bacon around it. They even had this thing that was pineapple with cinnamon which was yummy. The food overall was great but the meat for me was pretty mid etheir too plain or just too salty from ... the salt not much any flavor to it. Now forget about the meat for a second and let's talk about the buffet bar. Here I was thinking it would be like some Chuck E Cheese business like no they had fish, spaghetti , bread, asparagus, some shrimp salad salad thing. I was using the cucumbers and watermelon to make some room in my tummy but if i wasn't so focused on the meats I would have been getting everything from the buffet but because it could have filled me up by itself. All the rotisserie meats wete what makes a Brazilian restaurant right? I had bacon wrapped chicken, really soft, beef brisket, sirloin beef, pork, even pineapple dusted with cinnamon. II had the traditional sides on my plates: rice, cucumber salad, Spanish fried banana. I sat at the bar because I hadn't called ahead and booked a reservation on a Saturday. There, I ordered a pineapple juice. Instead of getting the normal can of pineapple juice, the bartender made me a homemade pineapple drink with pineapple and ice. I also ordered water with lime. I was surprised to see a bartender squeeze a lines worth of juice into my water. So much better than a couple wadges thrown inti a glass of water. Plenty of food. Meats Meats! Meats! It's been a while since we've been to a Brazilian steakhouse so we were super excited to try Oliveira. We made reservations online and we were quickly seated as soon as we got there. We went with the first option on their dinner menu which was an all you can eat buffet and juicy meats served at your table. The restaurant is bustling and fast paced but we quickly got the rhythm down of flagging down the meat servers and asking for more. We did utilize the salad buffet but we didn't want to get too full because all we wanted was the meats! I liked the basket full of goodies that they served us as soon as we sat down. It was filled with yucca fries, plantains, bacon wrapped bread and Brazilian cheese bread. Everything was yummy! The meats did not disappoint! They were juicy and some were saltier than others which I love because I love salt! We couldn't get enough of the grilled pineapple that was like a nice palate cleanser in-between different meat tastings. They were also very generous with the slices, they cut up some beefy chunks of meat each time. By the end of dinner we were stuffed but very satisfied! I can't wait to dine here again! For me, coming from California, $50 is an absolute bargain for AYCE Brazilian BBQ. It's not the highest quality, but it's more than sufficient for the price. Ive probably been here 12-16 times and tried the salad bar, weigh option and of course the full on $50 unlimited buffet. Oliveira's is a new Brazilian BBQ experience for me. They still offer the classic rodizio experience, bringing meats to your table, but they also offer a window where you can order cuts directly. This window will be your primary source of food because you can order from any of the meats and pick to your liking rather than rely on the more limited selection walking around. It is extremely popular to purchase by the pound here and dine in. We opted for the AYCE experience as first timers here but it looked like 80% of other diners were eating by the pound. Fantastic service and price is not terrible. Salad bar includes hot food like rice, beans, ribs, and fried food alongside regular salad items and fruits. The only downside is their cheese bread is not made fresh and lays out near the salad bar, so it's warm at best and not that cheesy. Though I think everything else makes up for that. Rather than listing out, I'll definitely say order the classic picanha numerous times and try out the abacaxi (grilled pineapple). The pineapple is hot and extremely juicy. The skin on is a weird texture, but it's unique for sure. read more

I've been living in Somerville for yearsss and have been told to try Oliveira's and I finally made it here last Saturday for dinner with a friend and her family that was visiting. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they are a Brazlian Steakhouse and similar to Fogo De Chão and Midwest they have an unlimited buffet. But here, there's the option to do plates by weight which our table of 8 decided to do. I've done the food to-go by weight at Midwest so weighing my meal wasn't new to me *expert wink*. So it was nice to have this as an option because we had a 9pm reservation and there was no way I was fitting so much food in my stomach if I did the unlimited buffet option. For the plate by weight option, you get a card number for yourself / you and whoever else is on your bill, you grab a plate by the buffet and collect all that your heart desires, weigh it with the cashier before you get to sit down and enjoy... and if it didn't feel like enough food you can repeat the process. We had a great experience - our waitress was very friendly and informative. She answered any questions the group had since some were new to a Brazilian steakhouse experience. The steak cuts were delicious, spicy sausage was another tasty meat. From the buffet section - The crispy pork belly was my favourite and Pork &beans is always a go-to with some of the yellow rice along with some fried plantain. My friends treated me to an AYCE experience meaning we had access to their salad bar that has plenty more than just salad. There were plenty of meat selections including steak, cheese & steak, pork, lamb and more. Sides included potato salad, pasta salad, mashed potatoes, stewed meats, fresh fruit, etc. Staff were very friendly even though they had truck loads of people coming in on a Friday night. Parking can be a little difficult as there's a small parking lot but also street parking options available. The service was great - the staff were attentive with refilling drinks and the timing of when they came around to shave some meats onto the plate were pretty quick. The selection is great! Prices are reasonable. The high volume keeps the buffet fresh. There's one downside. It fell off my radar until this week. We got together with two friends there. Most important was the cost. The tab for the four of us was $222+tip. While that may not be excessive for a fine establishment, this was just 'meh' food. The salads were fresh but boring. The fried fish looked like Gorton's of Gloucester, straight from the supermarket's freezer chest. The primary - maybe ONLY spice - was salt. Don't get me wrong - I love Brazilian food. My wife and I had an amazing Saturday night dinner at Oliveira's. We did the AYCE option which was the best way to experience everything that they have to offer. Every meat that was presented to us was sooo tender and juicy. Just a touch of salt to help really bring out the meats true flavor. By the end of the experience I thought I had to be rolled out of there because I was so full but I saw their case of desserts in the front and couldn't say no. Overall: truly a unique experience at a very reputable Brazilian bbq restaurant. You've had people serve you but have you had people slice meat on a skewer as you peel it off? Slightly hefty price tag for technically "just meat" but it's worth it if you can eat your fill. Apologies for any butchered spelling. Overall: top meat choices were the classic sirloin cut, flank steak, bbq ribs, and lamb. Nothing beats a good sirloin and Oliveiras does it right with just the right redness and perfect tenderness. The other choices round out a stacked lineup as they all uniquely carve out their niche of being slightly fattier cuts or leaner cuts. The salad bar had some absolute staples like Pao de quejio (?) that were warm and fuzzy on the inside. The fried yucca may feel like a giant wedge cut fry but has a slightly better denser texture. Lastly the capirichiana(?) is the classic Brazilian alcoholic cocktail that has the vibes of a margarita but comes off way less intense. Would highly recommend for those looking for something more casual to sip on while they enjoy their meat heavy diet. Ambience/Decor/Service: the ambience has a steak house vibe with the wine "cellar" and the fine dining tables with steak knives. The service was not the best in my opinion but that's if I'm being super knit picky. While they do bring out cuts of meat in a good cadence their slicing could use a little bit of work. This was where I had my first Brazilian bbq experience and I keep coming back for their delicious dishes! Keep in mind that I only tried AYCE option on this restaurant, and trust me their meats are delicious :) I believe you could select to opt out for that and order dishes from the kitchen but why would you do that when you can get freshly grilled/baked meat from servers? Also they offer good amount of wine selections and specials, which are perfect for the date night. (They sometimes have a special of 2 all you can eat dinners and a bottle of wine for $80) I don't think I've ever needed reservations as the place is pretty huge. I waited to review this place AFTER going to Fogo de Chao. It had been like 5-6 years since I've been to a Brazilian churrascaria so after I came here I was a bit confused on a few things. The outlook and vibe of this place seemed more old fashioned and authentic to the experience. The service was good and they were friendly. My biggest issue, which is probably the most important, was the food quality. Even tho the servers asked how I liked my meat cooked, they kept coming by and serving me up well done meat. It was incredibly salty as well and the outer edges were burnt, but tough to eat burnt. I didn't have any good cuts of meat at all. The sides were okay and if you are Brazilian I can definitely see how you'd like this place because again, I do feel it to be more on the authentic side. They do have an option to just pay in weight what you eat which I recommend to go with. As mentioned I did hit up Fogo before reviewing this place just yesterday and I have to say the meat there is beyond tastier than this place and they gave me medium rare most times I asked for it other than the cooked whole pieces of meat. Service at Fogo was also great and their salad bar had good options which I actually prefer, but again, more authentic side bar here just make sure to pay in weight, don't go with the all you can eat option. Pretty solid restaurant when it comes to AYCE meat in the Boston area, with the main downside being that street parking can get difficult depending on the time of day. Still, it's quite the cute restaurant, with the dim lighting making it into quite the place for date nights and celebrations. As for the food, the meats were nice, juicy, and flavorful for the most part, but occasionally came out a little on the dry/well-done side for my taste. Of course, would like to give a shout-out for their picanha, as such cuts of meat are always welcome, and their fried cheese drizzled in honey kinda speaks for itself Anyway, would definitely recommend this spot for the experience, especially with how fun it is when the servers bring out a bunch of skewered meat and start slicing it right in front of you.
