Oliver's Donut is located in a super charming joint market space with other businesses like plant and wine stores. There is plenty of seating available and nice natural lighting. I needed a place to get some work done and breakfast for the day before meeting up with with a coworker. I got their seasonal lavender latte and death by chocolate donut. The barista was kind and welcoming. I loved that they told me the death by chocolate donut was their favorite. There was a strange moment when the people in front of me ordered something and were given the wrong drink then told that they ordered that. I enjoyed sipping on my coffee. The donut was ok and a fun pick me up to start my morning. I especially loved that the logo had a cat on it. As a cat lover, I decided to take home some local beans they were selling with cats on the cover. I really enjoyed that it's in a walkable part of PGH. I'd recommend visiting this cute donut and coffee shop. read more

I really do not understand the hype behind these donuts... Yes the flavor options are unique but the quality isn't really there. I got their signature huckleberry and it was just an underdeveloped lemon blueberry donut in my option. It was pretty dry and tasted like a cake donut from a gas station Inside was a really hipster vibe with the lighting set up, plants, chairs etc. You'd know what I mean the second you walk in. The cashier was also very pleasant and helpful with donut recommendations I will say the coffee looks bomb and wish I did try some. I know cake donuts can be divisive, and in general, I know Pittsburgh is probably more of a yeast donut town (including my wife). I appreciate the adventurous flavors they try here and the crisp exterior - albeit they can be a little dry at times or not as strong as flavors. Such a great little coffee shop on the Main Street in Lawrenceville! It used to be an old bank, but was converted to a multi-use market space-with Oliver's at the forefront. (They also have a walk thru option, too!) Coffee is delish and everyone there is just so sweet and friendly. They have quite a few seats available, which usually never fill up from what I can see. They also have a variety of beautiful doughnuts (with fun flavors like lemon, lavender etc). You can tell they're homemade too, they are AMAZING. Delicious cake donuts and wonderful staff! I love going to Oliver's Donuts because the space is bright, clean and calming and you could easily bring a book or your laptop to work. I've tried a variety of their donuts and they're all delicious. Today I tried the pumpkin and chocolate mint. The pumpkin donut had a beautiful glittery and glazed finished and wasn't overwhelming with the pumpkin flavor. It was balanced and not overly sweet. Again, these are cake donuts so they are thicker. Delicious donuts! One of my favorite donuts in Pittsburgh. Oliver's donuts is located in Market house. There is not a ton of seating but I had no problem finding both a seat and an outlet on a Friday afternoon. Since it's in Market House there are a few shops you can browse too! Perfect place to study or get some work done. There were a variety of donuts to choose from including seasonal flavors. I tried the lemon lavender which is a summer seasonal flavor and it was delicious! The coffee was also very good. The coffee cup was very cute and featured Oliver the cat on it as well. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Since it was my first time there I struggled to choose which flavor donut to get. This review is based on a cortado I had in house on a random Thursday afternoon in March. I don't come to this cafe too often, but the atmosphere is lovely, and I now rank their coffee and overall presentation as the best in the competitive coffee environs of Lawrenceville. Milk Steam Quality: 5/5. Perfect temperature. Texture smooth as silk and the cream held up throughout the 10 minute consumption of the beverage. Espresso Quality: 5/5. Honestly if I could give them a 6/5 for this I would. This was, indeed, one of the best cortados I have ever had in terms of the espresso flavor profile holding up to steamed whole milk. It rivals my favorite cafe in the entire world for espresso/milk quality, which is Maketto in Washington DC. I'm very happy this place is in my neighborhood! Service Quality: 5/5. Everyone is lovely :) Ambiance Quality: 4/5. It's not a huge space, but they do a great job repurposing an old 60s era community bank building. Nestled in a building on the corner of Butler Street, we enjoyed 3 types of donuts when visiting Pittsburgh: Vanilla Sprinkle, Huckleberry, and Chocolate Sea Salt were all great. Coffee is available; however, we enjoyed the complimentary water. There are other shops in the building to enjoy. The service was quick and pleasant and there was ample seating. On a scale of romances to documentaries, Oliver's Donuts is the romance you expect. I missed the grand opening of Oliver's Donuts a year ago. Ever since then, I've been hoping to get there. This past weekend, I did. Oliver's Donuts is charming in decor with a lovely seating area. I love that they offer coffee-shop-level coffee alongside their cake donuts. The chocolate chocolate cake donut was decadent. Parking is street, and there is a lot (though I didn't check to see if it includes Oliver's Donuts. I assume so). I wanted to be wowed, but it was just ok. First, I was there at 2pm and there was a bit of a line in front of me, but no one behind me. They were out of a few flavors (completely acceptable that late in the day) but staff wasn't very helpful in explaining things to me. It was also confusing because they had given all the donuts Taylor Swift names, but then didn't use those names when I tried to order. Dang these were expensive donuts. I ordered 2 - sea salt chocolate and pumpkin. I thought the pumpkin was most and flavorful. The chocolate was super dry and just crumbled everywhere. We passed by this place ad were instantly like "donuuuuuttts" because who doesn't love a good local donut shop. Then to our surprise they were having a free donut day the very next day! Perfect timing. I read some reviews first and it really seems to be a mixed bag of love it or "meh". I saw they were cake donuts, which are definitely a specific type and if you don't like cake donuts you probably aren't going to LOVE these. Here is my honest opinion as a cake donut lover. The location is adorable, located in Lawrenceville market. I had never been in there before, so it got me in the door to see some other cool spots. Decor is really clean and welcoming. Staff was friendly. The donuts were picture perfect. They were good, not the best thing ever. Like we went literally as soon as they opened so we probably got the freshest of the fresh. The icing on the carrot cake was really good, the cake part had a spice that kind of overpowered it. The death by chocolate was actually my favorite, it was still warm, had to be super fresh. The other 2 (cinnamon sugar and chocolate sea salt) were for my boyfriend and he gave me a 3.5 out of 5 rating on them for taste. I read reviews saying the donuts were dry or crumbly and I could see how if I got them later in the day how that might be true. All in all. I like them, not loved. If it was as soon as they opened in the morning and I was craving chocolate, I would go back for the death by chocolate for sure. read more

The second star is only because their donuts are super tasty, to be honest. But they are incredibly expensive! That's not the real reason for this review-- the issue is customer service. My partner came in to get half a dozen donuts to try their flavors and ended up being told very rudely they couldn't choose any of the flavors and that was how it always was-- the staff just gave them a mix. They ordered an iced coffee for me, with oat milk. When the coffee came up on the bar (which was immediate since iced coffee is pre made) it was black. My partner said they'd asked for oat milk and the barista said there wasn't any on the ticket so they could pay $1 to get some now. My partner left in disbelief. They also mentioned when they first entered, staff were in the middle of yelling at a customer. I have been in a handful of times before and never had these issues: I was able to select a donut and I got the coffee I requested. I don't understand what happened that day but I sincerely hope Oliver's gets their shit together. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday noon as I was in the area and have been following Oliver's Donuts ever since they announced they would be opening up in Market House! Walking in, there is a small bit of seating, with a few tables for larger groups, definitely had library-like vibes inside with a nice ambiance. This day they had 4 donut flavors, but 2 were sold out (Sea Salt Chocolate and something else), so we left with one Maple Bacon and a Vanilla. These cake donuts were thick and well flavored! Had seen that this place was finally open so I went in on a slow Thursday afternoon. There seemed to be only cake donuts in the display so I asked the person behind the counter whether they only made cake donuts or if they ever made yeasted ones. They looked very confused at what seemed like a basic question and asked someone else to come answer it. The other person said they only made cake ones because this was a real void in the Pittsburgh scene (?). I think that Pittsburgh has a real dearth of quality indie donut shops so in a way this is true but...I found that kind of odd and disappointing as cake donuts imo do not compare to the yeasted version. I bought a chocolate cake one as I was there anyway and it was just ok. A little dry, and $5 a pop too.
