I absolutely love this place. I been coming to Oliver's Emporium for the past three years not just for the treats, but for the service. Oliver's feels like visiting a family member. The owner is always present, inviting, and knowledgeable. I remember bring my Lola in for the first time and the owner instantly told me what breed she was just by looking at her, gave her treats, and a back rub. I currently live in Morro Bay, CA, which is approximately two hours north of Santa Barbara and five hours north of Big Bear and I drive down twice a month for Lolas Dried Chicken Necks and Turkey Neck. Yes, I drive 5 hours one way just for these treats. The owner offered to ship them to me however I love coming in and visiting. There's a certain level of human interaction you miss out on by not visiting in person. Olivers is located in the scenic village surrounded by mountains and the lake. Oliver's is fully stocked with treats, well being products, and toys to keep your poochie baby happy. Oliver's also has another addition by the name of Mackswel. He's always friendly, smiling, and were both from Brazil which is cool. I really love this place and encourage everyone who cares about their poochie babies to stop in. We absolutely adore this place. We come by every time we're in town for their homemade dog cookies. This past time we got some sturdy leashes and cute outfits. A cute little pet boutique right the heart of big bear in the village. I feel like it's been here for years now as I may have been in before. They pretty much carry so many things for your fur babies. All the apparel, leashes, loads of toys, carriers, strollers oh my.... They also have bathing needs, souvenirs and of course, loads and loads of treats. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Cute doggy shop in the village. They have all kinds of toys, treats, merch for dogs or about dogs. We got the dried burger patty treat for him to chew on. We had him choose either the stick or the burger, and he wanted the burger! We have yet to give it to him though, since he had a lot of treats on the trip, but I'm sure he'll love it. We're so sad and disappointed !! My wife and I a same sex couple just got discriminated. We walked in with our super cute yorkie and while there was other dogs in their , She offered multiple dogs free treats and kind compliments . She even gave one dog 2 treats and we were standing right next to them and our pup was ignored. Even still we decided to pick up a few treats for our pup because he as such a good boy today this whole trip. An eye catching shop in the downtown area for sure, especially since it advertises itself as a gift shop for all dog lovers. Definitely dog friendly since I saw several pups while we were perusing around. There's some cute dog treats themed after holidays and other doggy aesthetics (bones, fire hydrants, etc.), accessories, leashes and collars, and of course tourist gear for your best friend too. There is a small 50% off section for some of the merchandise but the prices are as marked, not an extra 50% off. Overall an okay shop, but nothing to really write home about unless you want some Big Bear themed merchandise for your furry friend. read more

Adorable gift shop for animal companions in the heart of Big Bear's downtown. I was particularly excited to see sweaters available for large breeds - as it's more often to see very small sweaters available. I only wish more non-wool brands were available! That being said, my 70 pound rescue mutt loves her Santa themed sweatshirt, as does everyone who sees her in it. Dog friendly inside so long as the dog is comfortable and friendly to other dogs and people. Will be back next time I'm in Big Bear for another gift for my pup! read more

We were on vacation in Big Bear and took a walk through the Village and happened to come across Oliver's Emporium and couldn't leave town without getting our dog brother a treat. We got a "good dog bone" cookie and a meat stick and he loved them both. He actually took his time eating the cookie and made sure he licked up every last piece of it. We were told the long lasting meat stick would only last him a few minutes due to his size, but he enjoyed devouring it. The store itself is super cute, clean, well organized and has tons of fun and functional items. The cashier was super friendly and seemed very knowledgeable about the products in the store. Bought several treats here for my puppy as well as goodies for some friends' dogs. My lil frenchie absolutely enjoyed it. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful in suggesting the appropriate treats based on the different ages and size of dogs that I was buying for. Compared to some other dog treat bakeries/shops I've been to, the prices here were very affordable and made of healthy, simple ingredients. There were plenty of other interesting goods like chews, clothes, leashes., harnesses, etc. Also, I appreciate that the store is dog friendly. Oh man there's a reason why Oliver's emporium is always packed! The doggies love it here. This is my go-to stop in big bear village to pick up some sweet treats for my pets. Not only are the owners and staff super friendly, but they're incredibly knowledgeable about pet care, clothing, etc. I recently went in for my dog son Beto's birthday where we picked up a squirrel patrol sweater, rubber boots for our tiny chihuahua, treats, paw balm to avoid dry paws, and a peanut butter bar to relax our dogs on the road trip back to LA. read more

The bakery is wonderfully delicious. My husky- wolfie, Riley loves to take her morning walk through the village and stop by and grab a treat out of the bakery. As well as see her favorite person the manager who is always so hepful. She helped us try of shoes when we first moved here a few months back for outdoor/snow and Riley wasn't cooperating well lol if it wasn't for the managers help and ease of my pup I wouldn't have gotten her to try them on. Well, I wish this was a 5 star review. Only 1 star because the dog biscuit I bought for our Golden Retriever was a whopping $9.35 (and it was not large). Then, I gave Jake the little blue eggs out of the nest, but couldn't break apart the nest to give him more. Hummm... So, when we got back home, I tried again, using large kitchen scissors and couldn't get any pieces to break off. It seemed stronger than concrete. As a last effort, my husband got out his sledge hammer and then, we had lots of pieces. I called the store to let them know and recommended that they don't sell any more nests with eggs biscuits. The guy who I talked to said his manager would call me back, but here we are 5 days later and she never called. This is disappointing and I hope that this review helps others who may be thinking of buying biscuits there. It is a really cute store, with friendly staff, but the biscuits really need to be edible. I can't believe this store has been here for a year now and I just discovered it! Being the dog lover that I happen to be, I couldn't resist checking everything out. The shop is small, however, it's packed. I noticed a case of freshly baked goods, all nicely arranged and actually looked quite tempting. While Visiting Big Bear during New Years my family and I had a mission to visit Oliver's Emporium to find the perfect sweater for our GSP. The weather outside was Freezing, but inside the store you could feel the Warmth of the passion the employees have for our 4 legged fur babies and it showed! They were super helpful and patient. Our girl is not a one size fits all kinda gal. She is a "in between sizes" girl because of her svelt shape but wide chest. We found the perfect sweater , that was wool, hand made, made in USA everything and my favorite design had the american flag on it that matches our camo vibe. The only problem, the XL was too tight and the 3xL was like an over sized sweater dress. I was bummed!!! So, I waited and was told another shipment would be in later. Waiting, trying to reach out on social media periodically to see if they got any new shipments, i finally scored today when I called and was told they got in the last shipment for the season! Yasssss!! As luck would have it, they had the sweater in the XXL and would be able to send it via snail mail since I wasnt sure when I would be back up the mountain. What I love about this place: its a homey , mom and pop small buisness and like Cheers where "everyone knows your name"" this place is a doggy hang out where its inviting, professional, and has a wide variety of unique items you wont find at Petsmart or Petco. I like that.. I like the high quality unique items that seem more personalized for my pup. Its good solid quality stuff and not cheap crap that wont last a wash! The price point is fair for the quality, great sweater that is handmade knitted wool for me is definitely worth the $39.99 price point plus tax. The owner charged me $5 for shipping which is more that what it would cost me in gas just to drive an hour up the mountain so Im ok with that. What I found out is there is another similar store that is everything bear related in Lake Arrowhead near the outdoor outlet shops/mall by the lake. Its not as dog focused like Olivers Emporium, but good to know there is another place to go to if I want too but pjs for my fur baby. Return policy: store credit, if the item is the wrong size, as long as the item is unworn/used. Or just bring your pup in and have them model the outfit before you purchase. Tip:The girl at the store gave me a good tip: have your dogs sizes and measurements on your phone incase you cant bring them with you and they can measure it. Tip: washing: wash with cold water and hang dry to prevent from having wool sweater shrink.. Update: The following day I called and was told I had spoken to the owner the previous day and that my item was enroute to be delivered. Just like magic, the package came the following day and the sweater fit perfectly on my Gsp. My dad Loveeeed itt!!! Thank you guys for an easy and speedy transaction! I was going to email this privately to the business but couldn't find a website or email ...and the chatter by the two ladies working today (not sure if one or both own it) wasnt exactly private in the store. As soon as I walk into the store I hear a comment about how awful Democrats are and a lot of political, QAnon, fake Covid, and election fraud opinions for the 3-4 minutes I could take it. The woman behind the counter (she had a cute medium sized black and white dog) was trying to stop the other woman's diatribe. I visited Big Bear with my dog to escape the stress and political hatred. The one store I am excited to be in (super cute stuff at a reasonable price!) was deflated as soon as we got to the first display of my dogs favorite chews/bones. Unprofessional. read more

Went in to the store in the evening with my two little dogs. The one staff member was very nice and helpful. The "boss" not so much. Had a surly attitude. Not helpful at all. As we were leaving two other dogs came in. She immediately went and sat in the floor and started giving them treats. When my two approached her (she had treats, so duh) she pushed them away. No treats for them. And my dogs are cute as hell. The next morning I noticed once I tried to put my dogs jacket on that it was too small. I returned to the shop to get him a jacket. Same "boss", same surly attitude. Then she started schooling me in proper dog behavior because I didn't want my older dog smelling a very large dog's butt. I won't be back. No selection of collars.
