You can taste the squid ink in the pasta. The rest of the group ordered their meals. Too many to name them so take a look at the pics. The highlight was the lasagna which a rolled versus stacked. I came here for my birthday dinner and it was amazing! We started with the garlic bread appetizer, which was perfectly crusty and garlicky, with lots of Parmesan on top as well. I also split the wild arugula salad with my grandma and it was very tasty and unique! For my entree I got the agnolotti and I cleaned my plate! It had such a wonderful flavor, the short rib inside was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was great. It was a very unique dish that was executed really well. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing and honestly very surprising based on our past experiences. The garlic bread tower absolutely deserves the hype. Same with the mini rigatoni and meatballs. Very rich, very comforting, very "I'll just have one bite" and suddenly your plate is gone. We started with the Arancini which were small balls in a delicious sauce followed by the crudo which was fantastic. A picture is shown. I was worried because the fish was is large thick slices, but they melted in our mouths. We need a spoon next time for the fantastic sauce. I had the Cacio E Pepe which usually has a very think sauce but this version had a heavier sauce but equally good. The scallops were a little salty but a well crafted dish. We had a side of the mushrooms and risotto which I thought we'd take home but it surprisingly disappeared! The only issue was the valet. Valet service is offered for a set fee (I don't recall the exact amount), which is convenient if you prefer not to search for downtown street parking. The guests are greeted promptly by the hostess. The waiting area is smaller than the Tampa location, so during peak hours, you may be waiting outside. The main dining area and bar are located to the right of the entrance. FOOD: 1. Yellowtail - 3/5. Served as four pieces. Better than my experience at the Tampa location, but not something I would reorder. It was fresh; however, something was lacking. 2. Goat Cheese Sformato - 5/5. It's a standout dish. It's ideal for those who enjoy goat cheese and olives. It features a warm, palm-sized serving of goat cheese in a tomato-olive-garlic base, served with crostini. Highly recommended. 3. Brussels Sprouts - 4/5. This was deep-fried and nicely crisped without being overly charred. A well-executed appetizer. 4. Short Rib Agnolotti - 3/5. House-made pasta with eight pieces per serving. The preparation was fun to watch from the waiting area, but the flavor didn't leave a strong impression on me. The agnolotti was decadent. 5. Halibut - 4/5. It was excellent on the first visit; slightly overcooked on the second. However, the accompanying gnocchi and vegetables complemented the dish well. 6. Veal Parmesan - 4/5. A generous portion that can easily serve three. The side of spaghetti was especially well-received. This was one of the favorites of the night. 7. Lasagna - 3/5. How can someone who eats gluten free not give Olivia 5 stars. Chris Ponte can do no wrong. My wife and I have been to Olivia in Tampa a couple of times but not St Pete. Solo for this trip. Bought their holiday gift card special which was a $20 bonus card for every $100 on GC purchase. Problem is, you have to use them by march 1 or something. So I came and had their 2 bourbon drinks-an "o fashion" and some kind of bourbon smash. Drinks were superb. I got their gluten free garlic bread and their brussel sprouts to start. The garlic bread was amazing. I should have just asked for a side of pasta sauce and kept ordering the bread. The sprouts were good, but if I'm being honest, they were too cheesy. I KNOW I KNOW, but parm isn't my favorite cheese. Parmesan doesn't even make my top 10 cheeses, and this had a LOT of parm. I also got their Tortligioni, which is essentially a pasta with a vodka sauce, but I got it gluten free with blackened chicken. Okay, it wasn't perfect. The pasta wasn't cooked just right and was a bit tough. I probably shouldn't give 5 stars for that but I can't give 4.5 and honestly, I never say this, but they deserve the round up. The sauce was amazing and the blackened chicken was delicious and the serving size didn't make me feel like I could explode. The other mildly disappointing part was how slow the kitchen was. For a guy sitting at the bar flying solo, this should not have been a 2 hour meal but it nearly was. Still, I had stuff to read and delicious drinks and appetizers so I was good. Had dinner recently at Olivia in Downtown St. Pete. It's my first time eating at this location but I have visited the OG Tampa location before. The food and the service were exceptional and it was a very cozy and intimate atmosphere. We started off with the Yellowtail crudo, a beautiful dish, fresh, light, acidic with a little heat from the Fresno chilis. For my entree I ordered the Squid Ink Casarecce, a great dish with more fresh seafood and a perfect balance of flavors with the right amount of heat.
