The burger was pretty good. Solid pretzel bun. I liked the bacon onion jam. The burg as a whole was strangely salty, but I kinda liked it. Fries weren't bad either. I only wish they accepted reservations because if on the weekend and are going to a concert or other event with a timeline, I often write off coming here for dinner because I don't want to take the chance that they can't seat me in time. First tried this place 3 years ago and had to come back on our return trip to St. Pete (and got the exact same thing, it's just too good). The ahi tuna had crystallized ginger and kimchi on the side that paired with the tuna SO well. The duck was so tender and flavorful it literally fell off the bone. The couscous and the labneh was such a great accompaniment. The bouillabaisse, however, is such a winner it's a MUST order. Can't believe it's taken us so long to dine here! They don't take reservations, so we came early (close to when they opened). We were seated right away, and the service was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious and very well-prepared. We really enjoyed the burrata paired with seasonal peaches on the specials menu. And the Tuna Tartare and Branzino off the regular menu were also excellent. We shared a few plates to have room for dessert and we ordered two (we did take some of the tart home and it was just as delicious the next day). Fantastic food with great service! My wife and I split the pulpo a la gallega appetizer (sliced octopus with potatoes, green onions and chili oil), which was FANTASTIC. I had a special (grilled skirt steak over fava beans) and my wife had the pasta alla amatriciana (wide noodles with red sauce, burrata, charred onions, pancetta and chili). Both entrees were awesome. This might be the best skirt steak I've ever had. Last, for desert, we split the polenta cake which was very interesting and a great close to the meal. 10/10, no notes. We came here for a date night on a Friday night. We were seated right away. There is indoor and outdoor seating available and we chose indoor. Street parking is available. It is dimly lit and a romantic/intimate vibe. Our server was great, we decided to do a split for drinks because they don't offer cocktails only wine. Another outstanding meal on Halloween while watching the costumes stroll by as we ate outside. We started with the tuna tartare which had a great spicy sauce. The carpaccio ravioli is always a treat with the soft egg yolk in side. Truffle fries are a must! The grouper special was outstanding, short rib fat noodles had to many Brussels sprouts for our taste, and the mushroom cavatelli was perfect! We had an interesting dessert, panna cotta prosciutto. I booked a reservation for a table of 14 for a surprise dinner celebration for my son and they were able to accommodate us in a private room, without a contract or minimum spend amount. The entire restaurant was packed and we had our own space and everyone could hear each others conversations. The service was excellent and everything we ordered was fabulous! I dined here for my 30th birthday for the first time and I was thoroughly impressed. Dining out these days can feel repetitive at times but not at Brick and Mortar. Service was attentive and not over bearing. We started with the carpaccio and pulpo à la gallega for apps. The latter was so incredibly flavorful I almost had to order a second. My family got the confit of duck and braised short rib with fat noodles from the main menu. In addition, we enjoyed the hanger steak and lamb lollipop specials. Everyone agreed that the quality was top notch. I personally had the branzino which was cooked to perfection. The skin was amazingly crispy and the herb pistou was the perfect compliment. My husband had grilled venison which was perfectly done. I ordered the catch of day which was seared yellow edge grouper. It was tender and flavorful. We ended the dinner with bread pudding with toasted coconut. It was well balanced. The whole menu is very creative and full of surprises. We definitely will go back. I asked some questions about what wine would be best for me based on my preferences for sweetness and the wine recommend was great. Service was great, and waters were always filled. Following, we had a salad special with fresh burrata and citrus fruit which was fabulous. I loved the flavors, textures and crunch. For dinner my husband had the lamb which he loved. It was plated beautifully and cooked perfectly. For me, I got the short rib entree. Honestly it was one of the best meals I have had. I went around 8pm on a Friday, with the outdoor and indoor seating packed, but the waitress offered us extra seating on the side which was an extension of the restaurant. The building itself is interesting, as it looked like it was an old office building or bank, even a meeting room converted into seething area. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a place to eat in St. Pete that we hadn't tried yet. It had high reviews, so we decided to give it a try. They have outdoor seating, but since it was winter, it was a bit chilly, so we opted for a table inside. When we entered, we were greeted by a warm and cozy atmosphere. The place wasn't very big, but it was comfortable. There were a few vacant tables available; they had plenty of customers, but it wasn't too crowded. We didn't have a reservation, but we didn't have to wait to be seated either. As soon as we sat down, our server came over, gave us the menu, and took our order when we were ready. I ordered the confit duck, and my boyfriend got the beef carpaccio. We shared the seasonal salad, which was delicious. I really enjoyed my duck, and my boyfriend loved his carpaccio. We didn't get dessert because we were already full. Overall, I'm giving it . I would love to go back and try more of their dishes. read more

The Tuna Tartar is really delicious. Would definitely go back for that. The scallops were tender and good, but the basil grits they were served on did not have a lot of flavor. The apple burrata salad was the least flavorful of everything. The burrata was fine, but the apple purée (that's what it looked like) had no flavor. Tables inside are a pretty tight fit and it felt like a constantly moving production line in how they wanted to get patrons in and out quickly. Their hostess staff hesitated on my reservation and then said that somebody had seated someone else at the table that they had reserved for us. They had tables next to the window that looked like they would've been way more comfortable than the one we had, which was in the middle of the room right next to a full bar of seated people. I understand that they are a small space, so I did not remove a star for that. They were very busy, it was Valentine's Day, but it took about 15 minutes before anyone even came to our table to take a drink order. I had a Prosecco from Italy that was fantastic. They are a wine and beer Establishment. They had some interesting wines on their menu. My boyfriend had a Pinot Noir which he seemed to like very much. It was a late Friday night after a Rays game and my husband and I were on the hunt for real food. After trying two nearby places around 9:50 and being turned down due to kitchens closing at 10pm, we found Brick and Mortar. Their small bar was full, but our server happily seated us outside on a beautiful night in downtown St.Pete. I was pleased with the wine selection and my husband enjoyed a local beer. For dinner, he loved the pulled pork poutine, but I think my gambas al ajillo was the star! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the flavor of the white bean broth was out of this world! I quickly requested more toasted bread to sop up as much as I could. Our server was friendly and attentive, and at no point did I feel rushed. We left promptly at 11pm, but I will be back earlier, with friends and family, to enjoy their delicious food again! read more
