I came here as a recommendation from my sister in law, I needed a hair salon closer to my home. Everyone here was nice and friendly, it's owned and ran by a family. My hairstylist Martin was knowledgeable and did a great job. I need to color my hair after having highlights in the summer I wanted to go dark. I had chunks of different colors and he was able to correct it. I was happy with how my hair turned out. I have found my new hair salon. read more

I first started coming to Olivia's in 2001. I moved out of the area and now in 2025 I'm back. Eddie dyed and cut my hair. Wonderful job. I love the home feel and good vibe of this place, just feels like home. read more

Took my baby to get his haircut here for the first time by Martin and it was such a pleasant experience. Martin was so friendly and my toddler felt super comfortable. Martin gave great suggestions for my little one's haircut style and was very professional. I would definitely return! read more

I have been coming here for years, every time I try a new salon I always end up regretting it and come back here. The staff is nice and always greet you with a smile. My stylist is Martin and I trust him with close eye he is the best on what he does. read more

This salon has been a staple in the community for nearly 40 years. They are conveniently located not far from the heart of Baldwin Park nor far from the 605 freeway near the 10 or 210 freeways. There is a parking lot directly in front of the salon or plenty of side street parking. They have a waiting area - not sure how Covid has impacted this. Both my wife and I have gone here for cuts and she has gotten color treatments and styled as well. I always left feeling like a million bucks! The staff has always been very friendly in our experiences and scheduling appointments was always fast and convenient. Some great looking people work here so you can tell if they care about their appearance they will definitely work hard to help you with yours. They keep the place very clean and care about the building in general as they have gone through remodeling to maintain. They have good fair prices and obviously great service. Management have been engaging and friendly. It has been real cool that they care about their clients satisfaction. read more

I've been here once before with a male, I think Jake. He was great!! This review isn't about him, however. It is about Charlene (older Hispanic lady). I made an appointment at 11:30pm for 12:30pm same day and went in 3 minutes before. Upon entering, I was greeted by a gentleman, didn't catch his name.. and Charlyn was still with her prior appointment. I thought, fine maybe just a couple minutes. So I sat down. I waited 15 minutes and not once did she come over to let me know she was taking longer than expected or maybe if we could reschedule. Nothing. So I walked out. I should have asked for an update before doing so, but I was already put off by her lack of customer service. If she could not commit to the 12:30 appointment that she herself scheduled, then perhaps she should have given me a call or at the very least given me an update. Absolute waste of my time. read more

I found a Olivia's Hair Styling salon on yelp. I scheduled an appointment and was assigned to Vicky ask my Hairstylist . I am so happy that I did get Vicky because she is amazing ! I have been to many beauty salons, trying to find someone that can work with my curly hair , my hair had been pretty damaged prior to Vicky. She has gotten my hair back to healthy, shiny and beautiful highlights. You must request her when scheduling your appointment. read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 2019 - # 11/100 I've been coming here more than 10 years now I'm so glad that Anna introduced us to Suzie before she left. We all entrust our hair to Suzie. They have also updated their look and reservations can be made too. I even got a courtesy reminder a day before my appointment. So cool. The two gender neutral restrooms are always clean. Parking is still tight but you can park across the street. read more

From Mom to Bomb! Go to Vanessa. She is versatile and experienced. Pros: Great at communicating what to expect. She's cut my hair, permed it, and now am working with her to lighten my hair. I'm not disappointed. She is so focused on what she is doing. Cons: Bring some headphones if your not a fan of 90s music. (Photos attached) 9. 2019- layered haircut with bangs (natural hair) 3.2021 Permed my natural hair(dyed myself later on) 7.2021 1st balayage session. Don't get a cut from Vanessa if you have curly hair. I mean no disrespect, but this was one of those "I want a trim" gone wrong. The length of my hair was about mid-back and all I had asked Vanessa (aka Nessa) for was a trim. This was a bad mistake! I heard her cutting huge chunks of my hair, and as you can see in the picture, I was left with very thick uneven layers. My hair was noticeably short which is not what I asked for. Also, when I asked her to defuse my hair instead of blow drying straight, she didn't even know what that was ‍. I can't speak for all of the girls there, but I will never be getting my hair cut from her again. P.S. to the ladies, Don't get a haircut before going on vacation take it from me. read more

Came here for a Brazilian Blowout treatment and Anyssa did an incredible job. I'm obsessed with how smooth my hair is, and even more how fast it dries! Not only that, but she gave me the best haircut I've had in years! She was able to balance out layers from a really bad haircut (different place) months prior and the grow out has been perfect! All this plus she was very friendly and attentive! The shop was clean and had an overall welcoming vibe. read more

I had never been to this salon, but was in dire need of a hair cut. I booked with Myra back in May 2022. My instructions were clear, I told her I wanted my very long hair to be cut to two inches below shoulder length. I said it verbally and I showed her exactly 2 inches below my shoulders. She started cutting from the back so I couldn't see how short she was cutting it until it was too late. She cut it almost chin length, and then added layers. This was not at all what I asked for. Normally, I wouldn't care if someone messes up my hair, it grows back, but I needed the haircut because I had my college graduation the next week. Meaning lots and lots of photos. I had to go out and buy a wig because my hair cut was awful and there'd be no second chances for grad photos. I paid Myra and tipped her well because this economy is awful, but I do no recommend this salon, particularly Myra because it is not at all what I asked for. read more

On March 11 2021 I came in to Olivia's hair styling to work with anyssa because I have seen so much good reviews on yelp, little do I know I am going to be absolutely devastated with my hair color! Prior to the appointment I sent anyssa my current roots (refer to collage on 1st photo) and the hair that I want to achieve with her (2nd photo), she was very enthusiastic and so I was looking forward for my appointment. During my haircoloring process I asked Anyssa MULTIPLE times why my hair seems dark when I asked for a platinum blonde hair with a hint of "baby" brown lights. She kept on reassuring me that this darkness is "normal" and I should wait to get my hair completely dry to see the bright blonde, so I trusted her. The end results was completely far off from what I asked for as you can see in the 3rd and 4th photo, my original blonde tips were a LOT brighter than what she did on me; she basically made me a brunette when I asked for beach blonde hair. Before leaving the store I told her this isnt the blonde that I asked for? She told me she'll schedule me to get my hair toned after a week. Dont get me wrong, my hair is well blended but she did me dirty for having such a completely different hair color from what I asked for! After 4 days of having no follow up, I reached out & I mentioned to her how so far off my hair is, she told me "I think adding the brown in between the foils was probably not a good idea that made it look a lot darker". Hmm, you think? I am not a hairstylist myself but the amount of brown she put on my hair is excessive since after all, I asked for PLATINUM blonde. I am so shocked that she started turning it on me saying "you did ask for the brown and thats what I did". Clearly, I said "baby" brown and whichever amount the girl on the 2nd pboto has on her hair but MAINLY platinum blonde. Why do you have to gaslight me and not take responsibility that you got the colors wrong. Furthermore, she also added the fact that "the platinum photos I have on instagram are white girls so it is pretty light to begin with... it takes a few sessions to get there, it usually never happens on the first session. Sorry I should have explained to you initially". This information should have been said prior to the appointment and not after the fact that she did my hair. She did not inform me about the multiple sessions and how she will be struggling to bleach my dark roots to a platinum blonde. I dont get why she has to bring up "white people" having lighter roots when she was able to achieve platinum blonde on dark rooted customers before from her past work. This is clearly a lack of communication and since I have sent my roots prior to the appointment, that could have been the time to tell me her plan. Honestly, it would have been better if I was passed down to her coworkers instead or just declined me in general if she knew she wouldn't be able to deliver. As a matter of fact, 5 of my friends wanted to go to this salon because they saw me posting the process of my hair on instagram and I bragged how good the salon is. I have already informed all of them about my hair experience. Ultimately, I feel like this is very unfair and absolutely unprofessional for her to blame me for putting too much brown on my hair & twisting the story around. I take my hair seriously and this experience is something that I cannot just pass. Charging me for a FULL balyage again when this is supposed to be fix is just a low blow. Anyssa did provide me a 75% refund in a responsive manner and Im just informing all of you my experience with her and this salon. read more

This salon was recommended to me by a friend. I called around noon to book an appointment and it just so happened there was a same day opening with Martin. Upon arrival my hair was washed. Martin did a great job with my haircut (long layers and curtain bangs) and styling. Martin was very friendly, polite and a great conversationalist. The salon itself is very clean and very spacious. Pricing was fair. I will definitely be coming back and recommending to others! The parking lot is small however street parking is available. read more

I had made an appointment with Charlyn to cut my hair last week but she had to cancel today due to some issues but she was very communicative and helped me reschedule with Vickie who, no joke, was a scissor ninja! We had a little language barrier due to me not being able to speak Spanish and her not so much English but I had my bf come with me to translate for us haha buuut I would highly recommend this place! Loved my hair done by Maria, it took about 5 hours but she was very invested in making sure I was 100% happy with my hair. I went in with red hair hoping to go as light as i could and she was able to tone out all the red and get me a beautiful ashy light brown/ blonde balayage. 100% recommend she was so sweet and made sure I was fine throughout the whole time. Will be going back for her to get me even lighter! read more

I am writing this review 2 months after my new hair do! I came to Anyssa right after a break up looking to do anything to boost my self esteem. Not only did she do an amazing job (still looking amazing after 2 months) but she's also a really positive person and I'm really thankful for the couple of hours I spent getting my hair done! I definitely recommend this shop to all my friends and family- really clean and pleasant :) I would recommend setting an appointment as I feel if you were to walk in they are extremely busy! read more

I am not one to leave reviews but after having a bad experience with my last hairstylist I had went to for years I was very scared to give a shot to a new person at a new place. I read reviews about this place and asked around one name kept coming up. Everyone I would ask about Olivia's Hair Styling always mentioned Crystal the hair goddess. So of course I went looking to see it she had an instagram to confirm her work. I found her instagram and fell in love with her work. I messaged her we talked for months before it was set in stone to do my hair. Crystal gained my trust and was very patient with me and answered all my questions. The first time I went was in February she fixed the mistakes from my last hair dresser. Made me feel so beautiful again. I feel silly because to some people it's just hair but to me it's my shield. Now that I have gone a 2nd time it only felt right to leave a good review to the hair salon and to the most wonderful Hair Goddess Crystal. Been coming here since I was 14. I have always had Martin and Eddie cut my hair but Eddie for the most part. I like how they both cut my hair. Other stylists I don't know much, one time Maria cut my hair although I didn't like how it came out (more so bc I am used to Eddie, not being mean) I do have to say I saw a lot of hair growth after Maria cut my hair, so I was very happy with that. read more

Olivia's is always super busy! People waiting, phone ringing but I like how they greet every single person that walks through the door-same when your leaving. Everyone is professional and friendly. The salon is clean and updated, the staff always offers fresh coffee or water. I'm going dark to light so If your getting full highlights, expect to be here a good 5+ hours. Martin does exceptional work, He knows exactly how to treat and manage my long hair, I would recommend trying to book appointment with him but I don't think you can go wrong with any other stylist...clients leave pretty happy with their new look. The cost for cut, color, highlights, blow dry is way beyond reasonable. The only cluster is finding parking. You may need to park along the street. read more

Very poor customer service. This has been the 2nd time that happens when ne and my daughter have an appointment my daughter with Mayra and I had it with Suzy my daughter Samantha when in right away and for me took 30 minutes later to ask me "IF I WAS READY"? I was like.. REALLY? So I just said to Susy "no thanks its ok" (I was over the waiting period ) and she just turned around said "oh ok" and didn't even felt bad nor sorry for keeping me waiting. The owner Eddie now when he is there everything runs accordingly butas soon as he walked out the door girls just chat away...so unprofessional very disappointed. I going to change my back to L"Meida Hair Salon in Alhambra where people are treated with respect even though will be a drive but at least Michael honors appointments and not ignore them. But don't get me wrong Olivia's Cuts are good but stylists lack manners. Thank you, Belen read more

I want to also thank Maria for not only cutting my hair into a perfectly straight bob and adding layers but for also making the time to color my hair. We recently moved to Baldwin Park and are supporting the local businesses around this neighborhood. Though parking was limited I managed to get one and with excitement went inside, was greeted and asked the appointment time. I was 5 minutes early and was told that i am early for my appointment and tracy will take care of me. 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes passed. I kept looking around to see if Anybody can look in my direction to tell me what's going on. Nobody nada looked at me to tell Me sorry for the wait . So after 35 minutes I just left disappointed promising myself NEVER to comeback Adios forever read more

Paid $250 for my hair to look better in the before picture my hairstylist blamed my at home shampoo and conditioner made my hair change the color over the course of a week I don't think so. She kindly offered to fix it after dying my hair 3 different times I'm still left with not the desired color I wanted and out of $250. She was nice enough to fix it but unfortunately wasn't able to successfully accomplish what I wanted. I'm not one to put anyone down I'm just upset I wasted my hard earned money to get something I could've done myself. To top it off if I pay top dollar I don't expect my hairdresser to focus on 2 clients at the same time. Unfortunately my business to this salon is will be gone read more

Martha is the best!! shes the only one i trust with my hair!! I come here every 2 weeks and im always satisfied. For $10 i get a nice cut, hair washed, and my hair styled. Cant beat that price anywhere for the quality of the cut i get!! So why did i give it 4 stars? they dont take appointments. This sucks for me cause my haircut only takes about 10-15 minutes and sometimes there are females ahead of me that take an hour. Nevertheless, ill still be back cause martha always does a great job!!! read more

I think I texted her on a Friday for a Sunday afternoon appointment as I wanted to treat my mom to get her makeup done for a wedding we were attending as guests. Nathaly primarily (only?) works out of her studio in West Covina, so she won't be able to travel to you, but that worked out fine for us as we lived close by. Her studio has just enough natural light, was kept well-air conditioned, and very clean. I appreciate that she didn't rush and stopped periodically while doing your makeup to make sure she was meeting what you were looking for. I've had makeup artists look at my reference photos and give me something completely different, so I felt very heard and respected in my wishes. My mom does not wear makeup (like ever) and English isn't her first language, but Nathaly was really friendly and still made her feel very comfortable as she was doing her makeup. She made sure my mom was able to get the coverage/look she wanted while not overdoing it and she hit it out of the park! Lastly, her prices were very reasonable and transparent! I like that she publicizes her pricing so you know ahead of time vs having to reach out and ask. I don't have many events to warrant getting my makeup done, but would recommend her to anyone looking for it!

I'm disappointed with how this booking & communicated was handled. I booked a makeup appointment…read moretwo weeks in advance and sent a $145 deposit, then needed to cancel less than 24 hours after booking. Before or after sending payment, I was never told the deposit was nonrefundable. I did not sign a contract, receive a cancellation policy, or book through a website where those terms were disclosed. When I asked if the deposit could be returned, I was told that she does not return deposits. I understand businesses can have cancellation policies, but I believe a nonrefundable deposit policy should be clearly communicated before payment is accepted. I explained that I was never made aware of that policy beforehand and asked if there could be any flexibility since I canceled so quickly and the appointment was still about two weeks away. I have not received a response. Instead multiple texts ignored. My issue is not that a business has rules around deposits. My issue is being held to a policy that was never disclosed to me before I paid. Clear communication and transparency around deposits should happen if a client sends money. If it's before or after details should be enclosed. That way no one waste time asking for something they already were disclosed! JUST TO CLARIFY: The $145 deposit was paid on August 12th and the photoshoot was scheduled for August 26th. That is two weeks, not one week. I have the photographer's booking information confirming the date. At this point, what concerns me even more is being given information that does not match the actual booking details. If a business is going to enforce a nonrefundable policy, I believe the facts surrounding the booking should at least be represented accurately. You also got two texts, not multiple. A professional company owner would reply back, not ignore and reply on yelp lying about dates. I'd also like to add that the reason I chose to leave this review is because instead of trying to resolve the issue with me as a customer, my messages were ultimately ignored. I was never told from the beginning that the $145 deposit was nonrefundable, and no written policy, agreement, or booking terms stating that were ever provided to me before I paid. If your business is centered around making women feel comfortable and beautiful, especially pregnant women and brides, I think professionalism, honesty, and communication should be a major part of that experience. Being difficult over an undisclosed policy and then choosing not to communicate further left a very negative impression. For anyone considering booking, I would strongly recommend getting every deposit, cancellation, and refund policy clearly in writing beforehand. The lack of transparency professionalism, honesty and communication are what concerned me most about this experience. I've never met a business owner who keeps your money and is dishonest about all details. Do what's right if you truly cared about your business and future client's.
