I've been here once before with a male, I think Jake. He was great!! This review isn't about him, however. It is about Charlene (older Hispanic lady). I made an appointment at 11:30pm for 12:30pm same day and went in 3 minutes before. Upon entering, I was greeted by a gentleman, didn't catch his name.. and Charlyn was still with her prior appointment. I thought, fine maybe just a couple minutes. So I sat down. I waited 15 minutes and not once did she come over to let me know she was taking longer than expected or maybe if we could reschedule. Nothing. So I walked out. I should have asked for an update before doing so, but I was already put off by her lack of customer service. If she could not commit to the 12:30 appointment that she herself scheduled, then perhaps she should have given me a call or at the very least given me an update. This salon has been a staple in the community for nearly 40 years. They are conveniently located not far from the heart of Baldwin Park nor far from the 605 freeway near the 10 or 210 freeways. There is a parking lot directly in front of the salon or plenty of side street parking. They have a waiting area - not sure how Covid has impacted this. Both my wife and I have gone here for cuts and she has gotten color treatments and styled as well. I always left feeling like a million bucks! The staff has always been very friendly in our experiences and scheduling appointments was always fast and convenient. Some great looking people work here so you can tell if they care about their appearance they will definitely work hard to help you with yours. They keep the place very clean and care about the building in general as they have gone through remodeling to maintain. They have good fair prices and obviously great service. Don't get a cut from Vanessa if you have curly hair. I mean no disrespect, but this was one of those "I want a trim" gone wrong. The length of my hair was about mid-back and all I had asked Vanessa (aka Nessa) for was a trim. This was a bad mistake! I heard her cutting huge chunks of my hair, and as you can see in the picture, I was left with very thick uneven layers. My hair was noticeably short which is not what I asked for. Also, when I asked her to defuse my hair instead of blow drying straight, she didn't even know what that was ‍. I can't speak for all of the girls there, but I will never be getting my hair cut from her again. P.S. to the ladies, Don't get a haircut before going on vacation take it from me. read more

I had never been to this salon, but was in dire need of a hair cut. I booked with Myra back in May 2022. My instructions were clear, I told her I wanted my very long hair to be cut to two inches below shoulder length. I said it verbally and I showed her exactly 2 inches below my shoulders. She started cutting from the back so I couldn't see how short she was cutting it until it was too late. She cut it almost chin length, and then added layers. This was not at all what I asked for. Normally, I wouldn't care if someone messes up my hair, it grows back, but I needed the haircut because I had my college graduation the next week. Meaning lots and lots of photos. I had to go out and buy a wig because my hair cut was awful and there'd be no second chances for grad photos. I paid Myra and tipped her well because this economy is awful, but I do no recommend this salon, particularly Myra because it is not at all what I asked for. read more

This salon was recommended to me by a friend. I called around noon to book an appointment and it just so happened there was a same day opening with Martin. Upon arrival my hair was washed. Martin did a great job with my haircut (long layers and curtain bangs) and styling. Martin was very friendly, polite and a great conversationalist. The salon itself is very clean and very spacious. On March 11 2021 I came in to Olivia's hair styling to work with anyssa because I have seen so much good reviews on yelp, little do I know I am going to be absolutely devastated with my hair color! Prior to the appointment I sent anyssa my current roots (refer to collage on 1st photo) and the hair that I want to achieve with her (2nd photo), she was very enthusiastic and so I was looking forward for my appointment. During my haircoloring process I asked Anyssa MULTIPLE times why my hair seems dark when I asked for a platinum blonde hair with a hint of "baby" brown lights. She kept on reassuring me that this darkness is "normal" and I should wait to get my hair completely dry to see the bright blonde, so I trusted her. The end results was completely far off from what I asked for as you can see in the 3rd and 4th photo, my original blonde tips were a LOT brighter than what she did on me; she basically made me a brunette when I asked for beach blonde hair. Before leaving the store I told her this isnt the blonde that I asked for? She told me she'll schedule me to get my hair toned after a week. Dont get me wrong, my hair is well blended but she did me dirty for having such a completely different hair color from what I asked for! After 4 days of having no follow up, I reached out & I mentioned to her how so far off my hair is, she told me "I think adding the brown in between the foils was probably not a good idea that made it look a lot darker". Hmm, you think? I am not a hairstylist myself but the amount of brown she put on my hair is excessive since after all, I asked for PLATINUM blonde. I am so shocked that she started turning it on me saying "you did ask for the brown and thats what I did". Clearly, I said "baby" brown and whichever amount the girl on the 2nd pboto has on her hair but MAINLY platinum blonde. Why do you have to gaslight me and not take responsibility that you got the colors wrong. Furthermore, she also added the fact that "the platinum photos I have on instagram are white girls so it is pretty light to begin with... it takes a few sessions to get there, it usually never happens on the first session. Sorry I should have explained to you initially". This information should have been said prior to the appointment and not after the fact that she did my hair. She did not inform me about the multiple sessions and how she will be struggling to bleach my dark roots to a platinum blonde. I dont get why she has to bring up "white people" having lighter roots when she was able to achieve platinum blonde on dark rooted customers before from her past work. This is clearly a lack of communication and since I have sent my roots prior to the appointment, that could have been the time to tell me her plan. Honestly, it would have been better if I was passed down to her coworkers instead or just declined me in general if she knew she wouldn't be able to deliver. As a matter of fact, 5 of my friends wanted to go to this salon because they saw me posting the process of my hair on instagram and I bragged how good the salon is. I have already informed all of them about my hair experience. Ultimately, I feel like this is very unfair and absolutely unprofessional for her to blame me for putting too much brown on my hair & twisting the story around. I take my hair seriously and this experience is something that I cannot just pass. Charging me for a FULL balyage again when this is supposed to be fix is just a low blow. Anyssa did provide me a 75% refund in a responsive manner and Im just informing all of you my experience with her and this salon. read more

Loved my hair done by Maria, it took about 5 hours but she was very invested in making sure I was 100% happy with my hair. I went in with red hair hoping to go as light as i could and she was able to tone out all the red and get me a beautiful ashy light brown/ blonde balayage. 100% recommend she was so sweet and made sure I was fine throughout the whole time. The salon is clean and updated, the staff always offers fresh coffee or water. I'm going dark to light so If your getting full highlights, expect to be here a good 5+ hours. Martin does exceptional work, He knows exactly how to treat and manage my long hair, I would recommend trying to book appointment with him but I don't think you can go wrong with any other stylist...clients leave pretty happy with their new look. The cost for cut, color, highlights, blow dry is way beyond reasonable. The only cluster is finding parking. You may need to park along the street. read more

Though parking was limited I managed to get one and with excitement went inside, was greeted and asked the appointment time. Paid $250 for my hair to look better in the before picture my hairstylist blamed my at home shampoo and conditioner made my hair change the color over the course of a week I don't think so. She kindly offered to fix it after dying my hair 3 different times I'm still left with not the desired color I wanted and out of $250. She was nice enough to fix it but unfortunately wasn't able to successfully accomplish what I wanted. I'm not one to put anyone down I'm just upset I wasted my hard earned money to get something I could've done myself.
